First time here and the food was delicious. As all the other reviews said, the sushi is a miss. The meats for the shabu was so yummy and the soup was good! The dessert was also plated nicely and the green tea ice cream is perfect who doesn't like too sweet of desserts. Disclaimer, There is a 15% service charge over a party of 1. Eating at shabushi was mediocre at best and lacked a lot of the good qualities of both hot pot and sushi. The sushi quality wasn't great and a lot of the sauce options and condiments for the hotpot were lacking or missing. The meat for the hot pot on the other hand was super good but that was the only really redeeming quality. It was a great ambiance going in super intimidate vibes which I loved. However, being aware this is all you can eat meat & sushi I was highly disappointed in the sushi. Shabushi is the first and only Thai hot pot I've ever tried and I personally prefer it over the Chinese hot pot spots I've tried. The tom yum soup is delish and we add extra Thai chilis for that "oof, it hurts so good" spice to wake up the taste buds! Service is always friendly as well which makes the experience even better! I never have made a one star rating before, so this is the first time, at this Shabu shabu place. We were so starving and were really craving for real good soup, to my dismay, their pork broth did taste plain water. The service is sooo bad, we asked for everything we need like water or sauce more than once. Their kitchen is dirty and very disorganized. The bathroom does not look like a bathroom! Omggg, I can't stand it. Never going back here. I feel really bad. I complained about the tasteless broth even when we almost poured the whole bottle of their soy sauce!! The server I complained to I must say tried to work with us, she gave us miso soup base and thank goodness it made a difference! But I can't even attempt to give more than one star :( read more

Any positive reviews you read about this place previously is probably falsified. First, we arrived at this restaurant at 10pm and they close at 11pm. As soon as we entered we were not greeted and instead instructed that if we wanted to be seated then we would have to finish our food within the hour. We had a party of 11 ( 7 adults and 4 kids). They told us that they had to charge us full price for my daughter, which was probably the only reasonable thing I agreed with. However, they were charging us for another child that was not going to eat anything (or share anything with us at all). He said that he had to charge for "everything single head". So, we said fine. Then, they seated us at a table with only 8 working cook tops when we were clearly paying for 10. I said well how are you gonna seat us with only 8 working cooktops but charge us for 10!?! So, he moved 4 of us to another table. We ordered our food, started cooking, started eating and then I asked for water for our table because all our glasses were never filled and the waitress never took our order for beverages. He then pointed to our other table and the water pitcher that was on that table insinuating that I get up and get the pitcher and serve my own table while he poured and served all the other surrounding tables. With all the sides included, we asked if they could bring a few more things out and he said no and pretty much told us that we only get what's left and are still required to pay full price! Barely starting to eat, he brings our check! I look at the check and notice that there is another person's credit card in the pocket. I give it to the waiter and he takes it like he knew it was there. Then, I asked him to split the check and he said that he couldn't do that. He said that if we paid with 3 cards, then we'd have to split it all evenly. So, to make HIS life easier, we put it on one card because he was too lazy & dumb to split the check. Then as we are still eating, they're cleaning up and another employee brings the trash out through the front door as the restaurant still have 3 table of customers eating their food. I know that they aren't supposed to take trash out through a dinning area! How disgusting is that!?! Also, to get to the bathroom you have to walk through the food prep area/kitchen (which was also disgusting and looked completely unsanitary). What could have been an easy, quick, simple meal, turned into a disastrous, unprofessional, unpleasant meal. I 100% would NEVER recommend this place to anyone! The staff members are extremely kind and welcoming as soon as you enter the door they have a huge smile and gesture their hands and body language to where you feel at home. And the aroma of shabu broth, amazing! But the nigiri sushi here is a "Thai Town Treat" of Los Angeles, CA. The Chef has a great culinary hand in precisely cutting, folding and prepping the fresh fish of the day. I was beyond amazed at the salmon and it's texture and delicate taste over lightly seasoned vinegar rice. For all the fresh salmon lovers and connoisseurs, you will have to visit Shabushi and order it before it's too late. One order of the beef striploin set 10oz $27.50 One order of beef ribeye set 10oz $31.25 Both of these sets came with an assortment of veggies including: bokchoy, mushrooms, pumpkin, corn, lettuce, cabbage, ramen noodles. We got the sukiyaki broth (Japanese sweet soy sauce with sake) and the dashi (traditional Japanese). I, personally favored the sukiyaki broth. It had more flavor. A bit tangy. I found the dashi a bit too bland but that's the one my bf preferred. So it's up to your taste buds! For sauces, we got sesame and the sukiyaki. The sukiyaki was deffff good but bc of the spice level, I mixed a bit of my sesame sauce into it and it tamed it down but still had a kick to it. Will definitely be trying this again. If you don't have a hot pot setup at home- you can do what we did! Pull over your dining table (if small enough) right next to the stove. Haha. Problem solved! read more

I decided to try the 2nd tier AYCE hot pot for $35. The beef was good and I got to pick 2 broths in the Yin Yan hot pot: Sukiyaki and Spicy Tom Yum. Definitely enjoyed the spicy Tom yum broth a lot more. The Shabu Shabu meats were okay compared to other fancier and bigger hot pot and shabu restaurants I've been to previously. Not a big fan of the Sushi there - they didn't taste all that good. One thing I wanted to point out is the good service I received. read more

We definitely did not get 4 star experience at this place . First, one of the broth flavors we wanted was not longer available. Their free miso soup was salty. We had to add hot water to dilute the saltiness so our kids could have some. We decided to try their Szechuan flavor, Thai Tom yum, miso, and pork bone soup. If you expected the typical numbing spicy lines s from the broth, don't. It is just just spicy chicken broth. The tom yum broth was good. The pork bone was okay. The most disappointing of all is the miso broth. We don't know what happened but we tasted and smell bleach in that soup. They probably didn't thoroughly wash their pot and still have a small residue of bleach from it. While they were apologetic, it was still disappointing. The ramen they offered tasted weird.. no matter who long we tried to cook it, it was rubbery. Their meat selection was okay. At the end when we asked for all three ice cream flavors, they were out of chocolate flavor. We were a party of five and they automatically added 15% service charge to our bill. This is a small restaurant with about 10 tables. There is a parking lot which shares with other stores, so it might be hard to park right in front of the restaurant, but street parking is available. Here are my pros and cons; Pros 1. The restaurant is clean. 2. The portion of food is generous in general, so it might be a good idea to order a few items only in the beginning, and order the next set after finishing the previous set. 3. The service is fast - the order starts to come out only a few minutes after. 4. We have tried premium menu, which includes desserts like matcha or chocolate lava cakes that are not offered at other buffet style restaurants. I believe these desserts are offered for the $35 and up menus, and one choice per person only. Cons. 1. The bathroom looks like a storage room as well. The bathroom portion is clean, but seeing a mop with stained sink and all makes a bit awkward. 2. Avoid the table closest to the kitchen at all cost for a nice pleasant dining experience! There is only one divider between that table and the kitchen, so we could hear all kinds of noises. 3. Whether you would get a staff member who speaks fluent English is hit-or-miss. We really had a hard time understanding what our waitress was saying. The menu not being clear on how to order did not help either. 4. It is a small restaurant, so the choices of side items are limited. 5. Only one choice of soup per person. read more

Ridiculous lunch deal for a limited time - ayce shabu shabu for $12.99 per person seven days a week! Even though the ayce offer strictly enforced an one hour limit, my husband and I were beyond satisfied. Our server did an awesome job explaining the rules! We appreciated that the timing didn't begin until our full order of first round had been delivered to the table. It was a nice touch that she wrote out clearly when we had to place our second order by - by the half hour mark, you need to submit your order of second round. 30 mins per round might sounded a little rush - perfect for old married couple like my husband and I, but not really for those planning to come in a large group to socialize. Quality wayyyyy exceeded our expectation! The sirloin and premium pork were our favs - melt in your mouth delish. Could have eaten all of it without any condiments- the sukiyaki broth was already sooooo flavorful - but I couldn't stop dipping everything into their chili sauce (a little tangy, a little sweetness, and a little kick).
