It was my first time visiting Reno and this was the first place I went to eat. Overall it was not a bad experience, the service was top notch. He was very attentive and considering the number of people in our party, he was very prompt during our entire dinner! We ordered risotto, pizza, various apps and drinks. The drinks while ok, they were very sweet. I don't mind sweet drinks in particular but I like it when it's balanced with the other ingredients but it was just sweet. The apps were good especially the fried green beans! I would say that was my favorite. The overall restaurant stayed busy while we were there. We went to Skipolini's last night! We've been before, but weren't very impressed, so it's literally been 7-8 years since we've chosen this restaurant as a date night! We were very surprised at how much we enjoyed our experience! When we arrived around 6:30 we were told it was a 20 minute wait. It was almost exactly that. They only had 1 menu available, so we also used my phone to view the menu. Our waitress was so friendly and very responsive the entire evening! She gave a couple recommendations, and was able to share quickly without checking g that their pesto had pine nuts when we had an allergy issue. I was seated at one of the bar tables and was served by the bar tender. He was alright, checked on me a couple of times. The place had a pub-like feel to it and the furniture was dark colored. It wasn't too dimly lit and each table had a small lamp on them. For starters, I tried their calamari. I was not disappointed. I really loved that their calamari rings are on the thicker side and were well seasoned and breaded right. My main dish however didn't quite impress. I had the shrimp scampi. The sauce, even though it had the right ingredients somehow came out creamy and my dish was swimming in it. I don't think the white wine would make the scampi creamy, so I'm not sure what else they added to the dish. Wasn't a big fan. As for dessert, I had their strawberry gelato. Their assorted gelato was showcased in a nice ice cream cart facing the front door, and is the first thing your eye catches as soon as you walk in. They did have an assortment but the selections were conventional flavors. I was hoping they had some tropical flavors or unusual flavors, but my strawberry gelato was good, nonetheless. My first impression upon entering was that it was a great space to catch a game or hang with friends. The vibe was warm and inviting, and the hostess was not only friendly but promptly got us seated in a corner booth. I loved the open kitchen and being able to see them work as we were being seated. There were tvs galore and a full bar seating. I saw a shuffleboard in a separate room with a big screen TV. If I wasn't so tired, I would have wanted to play. I haven't played much since I was in my earlier 20s and still had roommates. I'll definitely be playing next time I'm in. Dined in for dinner, and it was our first time in. We thoroughly enjoyed everything! Their calamari fritti was the best I've had in a long time! I'm glad we ordered that as our starter. The main course was a small all meat pizza, a Tuscan chicken, and a zucchini shrimp scampi. I loved their pizza and their zucchini shrimp scampi. I loved having healthier options and not feeling so guilty for having a slice of pizza. It's a beautiful space, and our server set the bar here for service. We will be back soon! The ambiance and location are great. The crowd was mostly older people, so this seemed like a casual dine in. The food was alright, I'm not sure the price can be justified for it though. We got the macaroni and cheese and lasagna and they were both 5/10. The service was amazing. Our waitress was wonderful and she comped us for a mishap with the food (the food came out wrong the first time). In the mood for Italian and was recommended Skipolini's Italian. Located in southwest Reno, Skipolini's is a full service restaurant and we'll as a bar and banquet space. We decided to make a reservation base on several comments and the restaurant being very busy. We were able to lock in a time and once arrived we were seated quickly. Our party of 6 was able to fit comfortably in a booth and our server arrive quickly to get our drink order and appetizers. Skipolini's has very nice decor as well as plenty seating for those needing a more intimate table or for large groups. They don't use any of the open table or other web apps for restaurants to make reservations so you will need to call the restaurant. We started with 2 Happy Hour (2pm-6pm) appetizers (Wings and Hot Spinach Dip) and we're perfectly seasoned and Served hot. Our entrees were also served quickly and all very good. Our server did ensure all of our drinks were topped off and well as provide anything needed to enjoy our meal. Skipolini's does have a gelato cart as well as fresh traditional desserts. Sunday evening decided to come out to dinner with my wife and a cocktail. Pretty far drive from North Vallys, but it has been a couple years since we've been here and my wife remember they had some pretty good sangria. we walked in and looking to the left the sports lounge looked pretty comfortable. We decided to eat in the sports lounge since nobody was there. The bartender was our server, and we ordered a mystic margarita and 22 ounce sangria. Followed with a calamari appetizer. What we ordered: Mystic margarita on the rocks no Salt Sangria Calamari appetizer Veal marsala Barbecue bacon burger Tiramisu The drinks were really good. Great bartender. The calamari was perfect. I had two different sauces, a marinara sauce and I don't know the name of the other one but it was definitely a nice sauce. My wife really enjoyed her barbecue burger. I did have to send the veal marsala back because it was just plain rubbery. I actually had to ask for a steak knife and that didn't help. not sure if it was just rubbery meat, or not prepared correctly... But it does happen so we weren't worried. The manager came and apologized. I told him just to cut the meat himself and he can see it's rubbery. He took it off the bill and offered us a complementary dessert. My wife he is a tiramisu fan so that's what we took. Overall we really enjoyed the place and the drinks. Bartender was a good server. Manager was very accommodating. We came here for my friends birthday. We had to wait to be seated but the waiting area at this place is pretty nice! There are so many couches and chairs to sit at while you wait! Once we all sat at our table, we looked around and thought that the place was really nice. Lightly dimmed and had a nice feel to it. It wasn't too loud and the seating areas were large with even hooks to put your purses. The food was so good! I got the creamy pesto pasta that they have listed as a favorite and I could see why!! I finished the whole plate! Since it was my friends birthday, they gave her a sundae with a candle on it and she said it was really creamy and "hit the spot." So Skipolini's earned an added star this time around. Very convenient ordering on the Yelp! app! I ordered a cheese pizza since my finicky family prefers this only and I then can dress it up with veggies/meats I have in the frig. I was very impressed by the amount of mozzarella, and the crust was divine! Ignites my desire to come back and check out the other menu items as it is very local to my South Reno abode. I do like the bar area in the restaurant and have been known to imbibe there before a movie, which is within the same "mall" as Skipolini's, which makes a fun date night. read more

Definitely a new restaurant to add to my date night go-to list! My boyfriend and I's main food group is pasta, so we're always down to try a new place. I ordered the fettucine di pollo, which sounded exactly up my alley for a pasta with lots of veggies. I had came here once before and had the raviolis, so that's what I recommended to my boyfriend to try with the creamy pesto sauce. Both of our pastas were amazing! At first, my boyfriend thought he wouldn't be full enough from his raviolis, but he said it was just enough. My pasta was so delicious, the creamy pesto was a great sauce pairing and didn't take away from the wild mushrooms, sundried tomatos, and artichoke hearts. The pasta was packed with veggies and tender, juicy chicken. Our dishes had 2 slices of french bread to scoop up any leftover pesto (can't leave it behind!) but I was kind of wishing some was served on the side with our meal. We surprisingly saved room for dessert, so my boyfriend ordered gelato, and I ordered the tiramisu. I'm a fiend for tiramisu, and this was some of the best I've had! After a 6 hr drive we asked the staff at the front desk of our hotel if there was Italian food nearby. Both employees said hands down Skipolinis is the best, so off to Skipolinis we went. We ordered the garlic cheese bread and it was ok. More like focaccia style bread. My husband ordered Spagetti with bolognese plus meatballs and enjoyed it, but said everything was quite dry. I had the "healthy shrimp scampi" which is shrimp scampi over zucchini noodles and it really did not have much flavor. The service was great- the atmosphere is very nice (indoor and Patio seating available) and the food is quality- just didn't seem to have a great flavor. read more

What can I say but this restaurant is about as Italian as the Olive Garden. Is the food terrible no, it's like going to your friends house as a kid with his Irish mom as the cook. She tries real hard to make Italian food, but just does not have cultural chops to be successful. Is it edible yes, but you can get just as good in the frozen pizza section of your supermarket. After being reassured by a general manager over all the Skipolini's by the name of Victor that they would take care of the broken tooth I suffered while eating and overly cooked pizza crust the cracked a tooth right out of my mouth. Left shaking and bleeding I took pictures of the tooth spoke to someone named Victor (District Manager) who assured me that they would take care of this. And they felt horrible about it.! Victor even gave me his email so I could send him the estimate from the damages caused in the restaurant. Then I sent him another email. Everything went ignored!! ? So after months and months of hoping and waiting for them to take care of a damaged broken tooth and by the way, (this was right in the front of my teeth were you smile I was horrified and could not return to work.) So then, I decided to write and put it on Yelp so this wouldn't happen to anyone else that they could incur this damage be lied to and then ignored!! WHY they would do this I have no idea. My pain and my injury was completely discarded. Then of of course, I never went back to that restaurant to eat anything ever again. Months later I went in to pick up an order for Doordash as I was trying to earn extra money to try and pay for the damage this restaurant caused. The main manager who was very tall , approximately 60 years old Plus was not there the night the incident happened. His assistant manager decided to tell him I was the one who wrote the review he came up to me as I was obtaining the doordash order to go for a customer and YELLED at me at level 10 volume!!! How dare you come back in here I said Sir, I'm not here to eat rather to pick up an order for a customer.! He said I don't care you have no right coming in here and he started badgering me in front of customers at a very loud volume of speech and what he didn't see because he was so angry that I had told the TRUTH to the public he started berating me and was verbally abusive and I said sir I'm not here to eat and he says you never will be!! he told me" Get the hell out of here & NEVER COME BACK! Then he repeated a second time. The 5 customers that were waiting near the door felt bad for me and as I was thrown out with an order to deliver they apologized to me for his handling of Me and then a third time... this so-called general manager of the restaurant yelled at me a third time and I said sir, I heard you the first two times I'm not the one who caused this damage and you promise to replace and repair and he yelled he said I didn't say a damn thing to you. However. the District Manager by the name of Victor promised me he would take care of this and they felt bad...that was a lie! then this manager abused me verbally a third time and I said sir again, Sir, I heard you the first two times he walked away and yelled through the restaurant...YA! So you get it through ityour thick f****ing skull! This person should not be any kind of a manager and I believe his name could have been Scott because I heard one of the hostesses who apologized to me after he walked away and yelled in front of everybody and I think that's the name she said. This is disrespectful, disgusting, and instead of being ashamed for what they told me and how they lied to me and taking care of the situation they decided to be abusive and just ignore the whole thing! So customers beware this is not a place for anyone who is a good person who paid good money for a meal that caused them damage of which I am still trying to save money to pay for...... :-( so hopefully they are proud of their disingenuine business!! Very... "okay". Decided to get some dinner after seeing a movie and skipolinis was close so we gave them a try. They weren't horrible, but they just aren't good either. They're just okay. I ordered the entree Mac and cheese and it is dry. No sauce and not very cheesy. When it came out it looked cheesy/saucy but it wasn't. As soon as I kind of mixed it around it just looked and tasted dry. I also got the Italian wedding soup which is one of my favorite soups usually and I had one bite and didn't eat any more. It tastes oily and not very good. My fiancé got the lasagne and he said it was okay. Nothing too special. My friend got the meatball sandwich with the Italian wedding soup and also wasn't very impressed. She also didn't eat the soup and only had half her sandwich and didn't take left overs. It is a very clean, welcoming and comfortable restaurant, with an expansive menu. Arlena H was a great server, very attentive and helpful. My wife, who NEVER orders pizza out, ordered a small pepperoni and I ordered the meatball sandwich with extra sauce. We loved both entrees, and will look forward to our next visit, where my goal is to try their delicious looking Calzones! read more

I remember during my last visit that the restaurant ambiance was good, service was good, but the food was mediocre. After recently giving it a second try, I still have the same opinion. I really have no big complaints! My fiancé and I got right in, we got the best service and had such a friendly waiter. However, the food is just not that great. It tastes like reheated frozen food. We had a pepperoni calzone to split as an appetizer. It was good, but I didn't love it. My fiancé got the chicken parmesan and ended up eating just the chicken and not the noodles. I had a taste of the noodles and they didn't taste fresh, and the sauce wasn't that flavorful. For my entree, I got the pesto raviolis. I really enjoyed the flavor and thought they were delicious. It came with plain bread on the side that I wasn't a big fan of because it was a bit soggy. Overall this was a good option for a quick dinner because they are open late and in a convenient location. Their Happy Hour is pretty good as far as drinks go! I got the lavender mojito which was $8!! The happy hour garlic bread is $5 and the fries are also 5! I got the soup and salad and the clam chowder was just okay- the clams were pretty chewy but the Caesar salad was HUGE and totally hit the spot My husband got the Meat Calzone and it was also HUGE and he loved it!
