My personal favorites are the cookies n cream and Ube twist. Don't forget to pair your ice cream with a tasty stuffing. I love to get the Nutella filling. Chose Somi Somi after a friend got me a gift card only to come to the location and be told I can't use it because the person didn't know how to apply it. Super disappointed. Heard so much about it and now I have a useless gift card if the attendants aren't properly trained on how to apply it for the customer. read more

Stopped by Somisomi right after eating next door for a quick dessert, and it was the perfect choice. I got the cookies and cream with matcha swirl soft serve and 5 taiyakis -- everything was delicious. The taiyakis were soft, warm, and freshly made, which made the ice cream combo even better. The cookies and cream with matcha swirl was such a good mix of flavors -- sweet, creamy, and perfectly balanced. Such a great sweet treat! All the ice cream flavored are great and the taiyaki is crispy and sweet. I love the custard and matcha fillings for the Taiyako. After a day of strolling, we decided to visit Somisomi and finally try it. We ordered via their kiosk, which was quick and easy. They offer soft serve ice cream with Taiyaki fish-shaped waffles w/ fillings and toppings, plus drinks like milk tea and cold brew. Today, we went for simple ice cream -- matcha for me, milk for Izzy. It was delicious, but we couldn't finish it. The plain waffle complemented the ice cream well. Somisomi is somisomi delicious! It's a fun and unique Korean dessert called "ah boong", a fish-shaped waffle cone called taiyaki filled with your choice of filling and topped with soft serve. I went here on June 7, 2024 at night. It was for dessert after dinner. I ordered the matcha ah boong. Matcha ice cream was tasty and pretty cold. I chose Oreo crumbs for the topping and I liked the texture with the ice cream. The filling might've been Nutella or I didn't choose a filling. It took around 15 minutes to get it because it was pretty busy. It sucks that they don't accept cash. Maybe it's because they don't have a cash drawer. The real highlight here is the taiyaki, which is a fish-shaped pancake that you can fill with various things, like custard, nutella, and more. I'm so happy there's a Somisomi in Bixby! It's on the busy part of Atlantic, so you can just walk there for a sweet treat after indulging on yummy ramen or sushi from down the street. What I love about this place is that the soft serve isn't too sweet! (Isn't that the ultimate compliment for dessert nowadays?) A couple weeks ago I tried there Dubai chocolate taiyaki and it was the best thing ever! I came to get some again and now they only offer them if you get ice cream! Doesn't make any sense that they cannot make them if they have the items, and it's still showing on their menu. I cannot eat ice cream! read more

Somisomi was yummy for myself and my little one. We got the Ube ice cream inside a Taiyaki Japanese fish filled with Nutella and it was sooo goood but a bit too rich at the end I couldn't finish the tail of the fish too much Nutella. (You don't have to get a filling). Then we got the milk and chocolate soft serve in a cup. We are so excited to finally say we tried it. The register girl was there taking orders and then she was gone and told her co workers something and went to the back. Then we waited and finally someone that works there pouring the ice cream said we can order thru the kiosk if we're ready and I was like ummm you could have said that sooner lady. Anywho, she was nice she gave me an extra cup and spoon because I ordered the Taiyaki fish but I wanted it upside down and I guess I didn't order it correctly but you can just flip the fish yourself into a cup lol. Somi Somi is always a favorite! The quality is pretty consistent across locations, which is nice. I love that you can order quickly and easily on their tablet. My friend got the banana pudding soft serve with the taiyaki and I got the hotteok and cheddar cheese taiyaki. The banana pudding soft serve was subtle and sweet and the taiyaki was warm, chewy, and comforting. They even had a cute Instagram photo op spot! I stopped by today because my sister said they had limited time Dubai chocolate taiyaki and said it was good. We purchased the 5 for 9.95 deal. All favors were good... we ordered Nutella, Oreo and the Dubai. For an extra $2 for Dubai was so disappointed there was barely anything in it!! My niece is allergic to nuts and they put Nutella in the fish thing. NUTELLA!!! And they looked at me like I was crazy. Nutella is made out of hazelnuts thank goodness for the EpiPens! Yes they refunded us but like this is pretty concerning that they didn't pay attention to this detail! Why have that option on the screen if you aren't going to pay attention! The manager was nice but if I didn't ask for the refund and I'm sorry isn't cutting it read more

My absolute favorite treat after a nice sushi roll or ramen bowl and conveniently there's a great spot next door that has both! I love the variety of options here and that you can swirl a few of the flavors together. I went with the upside down filled with Nutella and the vanilla-chocolate swirl. The employees were quick and made sure to ask if I wanted any toppings or strawberries on top. The soft serve is delicious, and the value for the amount of ice cream you get is pretty unmatched ($4.50 for a pretty heavy soft serve). I love how they had 6 different flavors to choose from in addition to offering their swirl flavors for that day. We also got the taiyaki (2 for $4.50) and it's pretty big in size as well, maybe a little bigger than the palm of my hand - also had a chewy mochi- consistency that I enjoyed. Glad to have Somisomi in long beach. Came here with wife after eating great sushi next door at Te-buru and ordered a milk-flavored soft serve for her and a nutella taiyaki for me. As far as desserts go, it's simple and delicious. It's a great addition to Bixby Knolls and the price point is very reasonable. While you can order their soft serve with taiyaki as a cone, I think that ordering them separately is my play moving forward. I loved that our taiyaki was steaming hot and our milk ice cream was refreshingly cold. read more

This was my first time trying Somisomi and boy did I love it! It was absolutely delicious and the portions were huge!! As my first flavor try I decided to go with a Nutella filled waffle fish cone and Oreo soft serve ice cream 10/10 i definitely recommend. Can't wait to go back and try the milk and ube flavor. This is my go to spot for a dessert after grabbing a meal in Bixby Knolls! They are open pretty late, making it the perfect convenient stop. The soft serve is affordable and big, and it's shareable between two people. My favorite flavor is the matcha or the matcha milk swirl, but the swirls change every week. The taiyaki is also a great dessert, crunchy on the outside, and soft and mochi-like on the inside. My favorite fillings are the nutella and the red bean! read more

Ivan is a Rockstar! It was a warm and humid Sunday in the shop. The line was out the door and he was by himself. He remained calm and methodical. The soft serve is creamy, dense, and yummy. To be honest, my husband wasn't sold on the ube/chocolate swirl, but I loved my ube soft serve. It was his fault he picked that combo, he wanted chocolate and changed his mind at the last minute. Despite the warm day, my soft serve did not melt into a puddle of goo before I could eat it. Due to staffing, the wait was long in a humid crowded room, but how could you be too annoyed because Ivan was holding down the fort with grace. If he could keep his cool making Taiyaki, pulling soft serve, taking orders on repeat by himself, we could at least not add another circle of h3ll to his shift. So the only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because the powers that be should have scheduled help and if someone called out, they should have come in themselves to help out. read more

I love somi somi, but the somi somi at this location could be better if Anamaria (employee) isn't rude to her customers. She gives a lot of attitude and yells when customers can't hear her. She's speaks very clearly when she raises her voice but not when she greets and helps a customer out. I've noticed whenever I am waiting for my ice cream every time a customer walks in she has the need to sigh. Ana if you read this comment, you need to choose a different job read more

As soon as he walked away, my husband looked at me and asked, "Did he squeeze your hand too?" I said yes because he had done the exact same thing to both of us. It immediately created an awkward and uncomfortable atmosphere. When we ordered our appetizers, we asked if our crab cakes could be prepared the way we've always ordered them during previous visits. His immediate response was, "Not today." He gave us a lengthy explanation about how they were too busy because it was Saturday. However, we've dined here many Saturdays before and have never had an issue. Eventually, he agreed to accommodate the request, but by then the interaction had already left a bad impression. His overall attitude and demeanor made us feel as though we were an inconvenience. He came across as rushed, dismissive, and almost as if he felt he was above us. We felt pressured to order before we were ready. When we asked for a little more time to decide on our entrees, he seemed irritated. Later, when we decided to order another item, he again gave us a hard time. At that point, we simply told him, "Never mind. We'll just stick with the appetizers." The entire experience was uncomfortable, and the negative energy completely overshadowed what was supposed to be a special Father's Day celebration. I spoke with the manager and explained everything that had happened. While he apologized, I left feeling as though my concerns were being dismissed rather than genuinely addressed. At that point, we decided to leave because Father's Day was already being ruined, and we didn't want to spend the rest of the evening feeling uncomfortable. Thankfully, we were able to get a table at RH Ocean Grill in Newport Beach, where we enjoyed a wonderful Father's Day dinner that lasted until 10:00 p.m. They completely turned our evening around. It's disappointing because we've always enjoyed dining here and have had many great experiences in the past. That's what made this visit even more surprising. It's unfortunate that such an important occasion was overshadowed by poor service, an unprofessional attitude, and a lack of concern when we brought our experience to management's attention.
