Super unique pizzas & easy to get reservations :) double win! Made a reservation for a Friday night at 6:30 pm. I had booked the bar for 2 people (it's all that was available when I booked ~2 days in advance), but upon checking in they let us choose any table for two -- score! Much prefer a regular table vs bar seating. We split the square pepperoni and the everything pizza. I think the square pepperoni was my favorite of the two; super crispy crust, and the pepperonis were curled & charred - just how I like them. The everything pizza thankfully wasn't too creamy; some bites were incredible & bursting with flavor, others were just okay. I'm curious about the potato chip salad, garlic bread, and soft serve. I think I'll definitely be back & would love to try more of their unique pizza offerings! :) Random note but the bathroom was weirdly hard to get to lol - like a maze of doors, stairs, hallways... Hubs and I have been wanting to come here for a while. We read about the chef and were excited that he opened up a pizza place. We were immediately seated after arriving. The restaurant is long, with white walls, white floors that look like honeycomb, and a bar with cubbyholes that go on for miles. A mounted display case showing off decorated pizza boxes hangs near the front and a row of red booths go all the way to the back as well. A small standing dining area can be seen in the back too. We ordered the following: Roasted Oyster Mushroom, which has butternut squash, sunflower seed brittle. Daughter loved this a lot. Hubs said that he didn't know what to expect but he loved it, also. I thought it was pretty good, as well. Yolks On You, which has egg yolk, asparagus, pickled red onion, mozzarella, parmesan, chives. Hubs loved everything that was on this pie, but he was underwhelmed when he tasted it. Daughter liked this also, but she preferred Stranger pie because she likes tomato sauce on her pizza. I thought the egg drizzle on the pie was a little weird. Stranger, which has sweet fennel sausage, roasted peppers, tomato sauce. Daughter liked it a lot and thought the pizza was nice and thin and tasty. I liked the crust a lot because it was nice and poofy. Hubs said that he preferred Stranger pie more. This is unusual because he doesn't usually like meat and pizza. Maybe, he preferred tomato sauce on his pies. Overall, Hubs liked both pizzas because it was nice and chewy on the top and the bottom was crispy. He liked the crust as well because it was poofy. Service was quick and friendly. Stretch Pizza hit all the marks you want. Drinks were creative and made well. Mozz sticks were some of the best I've had with pesto incorporated into the mozz inside. Pull apart meatballs were juicy, flavorful, and on a gorgeous soft Hawaiian roll. Pizza was delicious, zero flop whatsoever. Crispy, fresh, and amazing flavor. The old town pizza was our favorite. A really creative combination done right. Ended the meal with the tiny cookies and ice cream which was the perfect ending to the meal. How did I find this place? Walked by it. In this particular area, this is a great find. Ambience and decor? Awesome - 5 stars. So cute- loved it. Banana soft serve and mocktail drink- also 5 stars. Amazing! The appetizers all sounded lovely. But the portions were so small that they didn't fit in the 'share with others' category as we had intended them. The chickpea fries are incredible but there was literally 4. 4?! Fries don't ever come in the 4 variety, let's be honest, so to call this fries is ridiculous.The beet salad sounded amazing but didn't live up to the hype, also the size was not very inspiring. You can see a theme here. Likewise, the pizza part of the menu is very confusing. This is Manhattan, where pizza is king, and seeing that the pizzas- with zero note about the size coming out AT ALL- all start at over $20. Like, the regular cheese pizza is $22. This could very well have been a whole pie for the table or a personal pizza. Instead... it was neither. Instead, each 'pizza' was not actually a full pizza (a pie with a crust all around it). Nope- it was a 1/4 of a pan of pizza. So it literally only had crust on 2 sides of it. I found this very, very strange. Like... this doesn't say it's a 1/4 of a pizza, it doesn't say X many slices, it just says pizza. How undescriptive can you get?! How does anyone know what to order? And how can a pizza that costs over $20 not be enough to feed 1 person? It is just pizza. Granted, I am not used to pizza baked in pans like this, so this could be my problem. But surely then I am not the only person left wondering about the lack of information on the website, the menu, and from the waitress. We ordered a pizza that sounded amazing cuz it had a lemon crumble in it - yum! - but it forgot to mention that apparently adding lemon crumble meant they could not afford to also include cheese on the pizza. And I barely tasted any lemon at all; very disappointing for a stellar ingredient idea. And ridiculous not to include cheese. Also a strange thing happened where they didn't have a certain kind of pizza flavor available on their very very tiny menu, so they apologized that it would take so long but the pie would be on their tab. Instead, they simply brought us out 1 piece. 1 piece of a pizza for a table of 3, after the waitress had told us a whole pizza? This was lame and deceptive and extremely ungenerous. We came in on an off hour, we were 1 of 2 tables ordering at that time, we were nice and fun and lovely, and we ordered multiple items from every single category that existed. Yet they could only give us 1 piece of pizza as a 'sorry' when we had wanted to order an entire pie originally. Therefore, while the dough was tasty enough, and I loved the atmosphere and loved being in there, adored my drink and dessert, the pizza menu is deceptive. If I order a pizza, I want a pizza, which means crust around the whole thing. So, in short, I am still waiting for the rest of my pizzas.... and I ordered more than 1, so I need a lot of pie back. I walked by Stretch Pizza and noticed they had a sign announcing that they now sell slices during certain hours. I dropped in and picked up a cheese slice ($4) to go and was very pleased! The slice was a nice size and had a generous amount of cheese atop the whole piece plus some fresh mozzarella as well. The crust was crispy, and there was a dusting of Parmesan on top! It also had fresh basil leaves. I had to wait longer than I would at a regular pizza place, but it was definitely worth it. I'll be back! read more

There are some interesting and creative choices for pizza here. I tried the old town, which had some uncommon flavors from muenster cheese and pumpernickel. The sauce was nice and light. The crust was great to start out, but I found that it dried out very quickly, so don't let it get cold! I actually really enjoyed my experience here. The music is great, decor and seating is also cozy and nice. They played a lot of black hits, which gagged me lol. The star of the show had to be the meatball sliders. I got the DL pizza, and it gave salty but I'll come back and try the pepperoni or plain to give it another shot. New Year's Day brunch at Stretch Pizza was the perfect start to 2024. I read about them on a few best of 2023 lists and had to try the everything bagel pizza. We were a big group and ordered several apps to start, which were hit or miss. My favorites were the basil chickpea and the cucumbers (not on their standard menu). I loved the artistic presentation of the brussel sprouts (also on special) but the sauce was just okay, and the shishito peppers were my least favorite. Only a few of them packed a spicy punch, and the blackened scallion ranch was a strange combination. The pizzas on the other hand were amazing! We ordered the Oddfather, the Nellie, and the Everything, and they all look weirdly alike, but each had a unique taste. I loved them all, but my favorite was The Everything...it more than lived up to the hype! We capped it off with the vanilla soft serve with toblerone and cocoa crumble, which was the perfect sweet ending to a great meal. Overall, plenty of veggie options, great service and excellent decor. The wallpaper in our room was an ode to NY, which kept us entertained for a solid 15 minutes, and the wall of pizza boxes was a fun homage to pizza around the world. Cheesy, savory, salty, with that jammy egg yolk to add heartiness, and that intensity that is so satisfying and heartwarming about shakshuka. Better than I thought. PULL APART MEATBALL SLIDERS This was so warm and tender and cheesy! Tastes what you expect it to - not bad at all. VANILLA SOFT SERVE I was told not to sleep on the dessert and I'm glad that I didn't. Yup, this is going on a Jess's hit list. This place now has one of my favorite pizzas in the city: the Old Town pizza. I LOVE mushrooms and umami as a concept, so the Old Town pizza made me quite literally gasp in delight. The Strangers pizza was good as well, but the Old Town was the one I kept wanting to go back for. We sat at the counter and service was great. I shall return to feast on more of this 'za. My friends and I were craving pizza, and after getting good things about this place, we decided to give it a go. Really enjoyed the vibe of this place! It's a super chill place and had some unique selection of pizzas. All 3 pizzas we ordered were delicious. I loved the crust. It was super light and airy, and you can tell that it was made in a brick oven. It had a nice char on the crust. You can easily make a reservation on Resy before coming, although you might be able to get a seat with a walk-in too if they aren't super busy but, would highly recommend making a reservation to guarantee a table since the space is a bit small. We ordered the classic, the odfather, and the kernel pizza. They were all delicious but, my favorite was the classic. Simplicity at its best! Okay loved the creativity of this spot and how warm, friendly, and helpful staff were here. Our pizza was taking a little while longer than the staff had expected (not that my friends and I noticed because we were so busy catching up) and our waitress came out to apologize for the delay and offered us a free appetizer of chickpea fries. We were all very much taken aback and appreciative of their graciousness. I'm really hoping that the five fries aren't what the full portion on the menu is when you order because they're fourteen dollars and that's, sorry to say, a rip off. Glad we got to try it though! A lot of the flavor came from the sauce that was reminiscent of a chipotle or Sriracha aioli but couldn't quite put my finger on it. The garlic bread was really flavorful and paired with the three sauces offered such a diversity of flavors. The Nellie was basically French onion soup in pizza form and my favorite of all we tried. We also had the Shakshuka special which was basically a regular red sauce based cheese pizza with all the fun garnishing of feta cheese and egg yolks on top. It didn't give me any Shakshuka flavors admittedly (as someone whose had both morrocan and Tunisian styles from granny recipes but also restaurants) BUT this was a super cool concept and my friends really loved it. Came here on a Sunday to celebrate my kid's birthday and was shocked to see a large part of the staff, both front of house and back, visibly sick - like hard coughing, sniffling/sneezing, etc. Our server was so sick they looked like they were on the verge of tears. When I asked the manager about this, or some short, blonde lady who claimed to be the manager while seemingly doing nothing, she brushed it off and said it's that time of year. To the heartless manager I spoke with, the owners, and Chef Dufresne, whom I've followed and adored for years, what in the world are you doing? Is this a restaurant or a sweat shop? You all should know better than to allow sick staff to handle food and pass on their germs to us customers. If your staff gets people sick, that is criminal and the blame is NOT on your staff, but solely on you, the decision-makers. I chose this spot with mention to the Michelin star chef. Ambiance (5/5): Loved the retro diner/bar vibes. It was open, well decorated, lovely eye popping colors. You can also see the kitchen from a small opening in the back. Be aware that the bathroom is several flights down (I think I saw an elevator access as well). The server was friendly and offered us samples of wine and later made us a personalized drink with my requested flavor. Have been wanting to eat here for quite awhile. It's a Wylie Defresne spot so why not? Stopped there Saturday night for dinner because they had availability. Pizza came out overcooked and frankly burnt and inedible. The two tables next to us got their's and they looked great. After about 10 minutes had to flag down waitress and she was helpful but had to go to the manager. At this point we were done and ready to leave. She said the manager had approved us not being charged for our pizzas and offered to make one to go. The Manager should have come over and the pizzas should have never left the kitchen. We came here for dinner last night and had a great meal. The space is modern yet cozy. We had reserved seats at the bar. The bartender took our order, he was friendly and attentive at all times. To start, we had chickpea fries and pull-apart meatball sliders. The meatballs were pretty solid, I liked the melted cheese on them. The chickpea fries stood out more, very unique and flavorful! It reminded me of a falafel. The Stretch sauce was a good pairing. Then, we shared The Old Town and The Stranger. They were both delicious! The Old Town stood out more to me because of the muenster cheese, unexpected in a good way. The Stranger is a more traditional combo. The pizza dough is classic NY style. I left Stretch in a pizza coma. This was such a great meal and was the perfect pick for a large group dinner. Our group of 10 split lots of different pies - the sausage and peppers, shallots three ways and everything bagel were all standout. Most pies are round with six large slices, but they also have a few square pies that are larger. Apps are always a must, and we shared meatball sliders, chickpea fries, brussels with bacon (on special) and shishito peppers. The pull apart meatball sliders were melt in your mouth delicious. Don't sleep on the dipping sauces - perfect for your crust! We tried all of their options and I especially liked the green goddess and the house special sauce. Other things not to sleep on are desserts and cocktails. I had their take on an aperol spritz and a paloma and both were divine. For the more adventurous they had a dorito cocktail on special. How fun! The bar is dimly lit and swanky and was the perfect place to post up for a pre-dinner cocktail. There is a back room that sits 10-12 and it was great for our large party. Unpopular opinion: I didn't love Stretch Pizza. My friend and I are attached to the idea of finding a Marta replacement [RIP]. This was not it. I was expecting to be blown away considering WD is tied to the place. The pizza options are very much creative and tasty, but there are definitely better places in New York City for a pie. I must say the bar staff is super friendly and personable. I had a Float Like a Butterly [$18] and it was absolutely delightful. This was tequila based with pisco and grapefruit - tart but also refreshing! We shared a variety of items from the menu, including the gnocchi [$16] and brussels sprouts special [$14]. We also had the potato chip salad [$16] and the Stranger [Italian sausage, red pepper, and tomato sauce]. The gnocchi was a little too doughy for my liking but the cacio e pepe sauce was creamy and smooth. The brussels sprouts were nicely roasted, no soggy sprouts here. I did enjoy the pieces of [grapefruit?] but overall the dish was just fine. The potato chip salad is definitely a novelty. I didn't hate it. It was definitely interesting to have potato chips in a salad. I think I'd have preferred just a really good salad, well dressed instead. The Stranger pizza was somewhat close to a traditional pie with Italian sausage and tomato sauce. I found the crust a little soggy. The pie itself was a nice size. Between two people, you could definitely order two pies and maybe one small plate. Each pie has six slices. Lastly, we both had a S'mores soft serve [$6]. The cup it came in was teeny tiny. There's a hard caramel shell with bits of chocolate and the ice cream has notes of marshmallow. I liked the cookie stick- very much a playful take on a s'mores. Nothing was terrible, but it all lacked the extra oomph and pizzazz I was looking for. The place is quite big and you can actually have a conversation with someone without having to shout. Came to check out the hype; stayed (and will return) for the food and attention to details! Started off with a caesar salad that featured super fresh and crunchy lettuce evenly tossed in their dressing. While I personally prefer a higher dressing to salad ratio, I liked how their dressing wasn't too heavy or too creamy, but rather more on the citrus side and only gently coats each leaf. The parmesan cheese and fried crisps added additional texture. The Everything pizza exceeded my expectations! The cream cheese layer was well seasoned with everything bagel seasoning without being too salty, and also had a strong garlic aroma. The pizza dough was thin and crispy. I heard that the pizza pans have indentations to help maintain the crispiness of the crusts. More importantly, the ratio of cream cheese layer to dough/crust was perfect!!! I was surprised at how tasty the slices were without it being too creamy/cheesy or too overwhelming. Their dipping sauces were also amazing! The burnt scallion ranch interestingly tasted like black sesame on my initial try, but on further exploration, I could taste the "char" flavors amongst its savoriness. The green goddess was another favorite of mine because it was very pepper-y in addition to the cilantro/herb flavors. Sauces conveniently came in these little mini squeeze bottles. The decor was very cute with red and pink hues, featuring a giant bar and diner-like tables with dim lighting. Staff were polite. I loved how they keep your leftovers warm in a box and hand it to you right before you leave! Also love how there were multiple outlets around the restaurant as well as hooks for bags/coats. Ordered two pizzas and two sides for four people, which was just about enough food. Got the stranger and one of the specials. I enjoyed that the menu had a nice variety of pizzas that wasn't overwhelming in selection. My favorite was probably the stranger pizza with the fennel sausage. I am in town visiting for work and came in last night with a friend. Food was SO good. We started off with two apps: Basil Chickpea Fries and Garlic Bread with all the dipping sauces. Then we had two pizzas and decided to try both styles-square and round. The square was Pepperoni and the round was an Oddfather. Both were delectable. For drinks we had Triple Luxes-amazing. I consider myself a pizza connoisseur of sorts. I really believe at least at time of this review, stretch has been way under the radar. As this is a WD restaurant, you would expect the utmost complexity, care in the ingredients and preparation, and unique innovations and that is exactly what you get. The have the fundamentals down so the crust and sauce on the traditional pizzas rival any. Now for the fun part is the unique pizza and pizza specials they have nightly.
