Plain slice as I eat it

Stretch Pizza, a beloved pizzeria, is closing on July 2nd. The usual suspect is the landlord and the rent. I had taken a friend yesterday as Jennifer wanted to try the pizza of Stretch since I praise it to everyone. When I was told this tragic news, I was crying inside and cried at home later. There are two other locations in The Hugh food hall where I have eaten and Domino Park in Williamsburg. I then asked if all the employees have jobs to go to. Six days to eat as much superlative pizza as possible and all the other tasty appetizers and entrées that my purse allows. I will miss you Chef Wylie, Meg, Allison, Mila and all the kind line cooks who gave me such joy.

Is it worth the hype? Overall, I think so! The pizzas were excellent, great texture with the right amount of crisp and chewiness. Plenty of diverse topping options. The salads were a bit of a disappointment, quite plain and not much in the way of variety. Meatball sliders were bomb. Good service, a little on the pricey side though.

Fun creative pizza options with a good base dough! My fav was the Al Pastor! It's all in the details. Followed by Everything Bagel Pizza, aside it was served slightly lukewarm. The concept is great. The only downside was for the private room larger group, the service was sooooo slow. It's like no one wants to clean the table or check on us... Quite awful on that.

Pleasantly surprised by how good the pie & meatball sliders were here - I ordered a Pepperoni and it really good flavor and excellent crust, even after delivery! And the sliders .. damn! They might've stolen the show honestly. In between some sweet garlic bread with some onions on top, these were damn tasty. Will absolutely order again

We recently tried this Pizza place in Flatiron when a friend from Vancouver was visiting us -- he's vegan, so we were on the hunt for a good vegan-friendly spot. We stumbled upon this place by chance, and wow, what a find! We were lucky to get a table at the bar without a reservation (though I'd definitely recommend booking ahead next time). The ambiance was super cool and lively, with a great vibe all around. We even had a 4-month-old baby with us, and the staff couldn't have been more accommodating -- they made sure we were comfortable even at the bar. We started with the Garlic Bread, which was absolutely delicious. It came with two different dips that paired perfectly with the warm, fluffy bread -- a total must-try. For the main, we ordered the Classic NY Pizza, which features tomato sauce, mozzarella, and parmesan. Since our friend is vegan, we asked them to make half with cheese and half without, and they were more than happy to do it. Both versions were equally amazing -- flavorful, fresh, and perfectly baked. They also have a great drinks selection; I even saw a couple enjoying a bottle of wine with their pizza -- such a perfect combo! Next time, I'm definitely coming back to enjoy my pizza with some wine. Stretch Pizza exceeded all expectations -- excellent food, warm service, and an awesome vibe. Highly recommend!

The pizza here was really good. I only tried the Alpi (riobolina, black truffle, mozzarella, garlic cream). Came out fresh. The black truffle and garlic cream smells so good. Unfortunately, this is not on the menu but it was part of a collab they had with Tilit. Can't wait to come back and try their other pizzas.

Great pizza and appetizers at this not super popular spot! I like coming here because of the pizza - lots of unique flavors and high quality ingredients. I especially like the pepperoni square pizza and the stranger! This spot is a great sit down spot with good vibes, although I do think it can get a bit noisy at times. My only other complaint is the prices can be a bit high - the pizza has good value, but the wings are quite steep for only 6 pieces. Other than that though, highly recommend checking this place out!

A hidden gem. Hidden by scaffolding but a gem nonetheless. The meatballs may be the best I've had ever. The Al pastor and stranger pizzas will get you hooked. If you can imagine the best version of banana soft serve, they have it. Cannot recommend the food enough. The servers were quick and did not push us at all. I wish this was a local pizza place but my waistline is glad it isn't. The interior is also very nice but if it was a dump, I'd still go.

You know how you see a meatball sandwich on TV, and then you want one, so you go through all this effort to find one and buy it, and then you get home and bite into it and it's never as good as how you imagined it would be? That is not THIS meatball sandwich. This is the meatball sandwich YOUR meatball sandwich dreams about. This is the meatball sandwich that Joey Tribbiani dove to protect in FRIENDS and caused an episodic rift between him and Chandler. The cheese pull alone is worthy of an Olympic gold medal, but the sauce; THE SAUCE, is an EGOT. Pizza was fine. Get the meatball.

Really great service. Pizza is fresh and delicious. Really creative toppings. Can be a cute date spot. Only complaint is that it is a little on the pricey end for pizza.

    Sandra L.

The sliders were very flavorful and juicy but a bit too salty. Worth getting though. All the pizza was pretty good. The pastrami one was interesting and glad I got to try. The service here was amazing. Our waiter was really kind and helpful. I had a great time here and would consider coming back to try other items!

    Crystal O.

Absolutely incredible pizza! We tried the French onion-inspired pie and it was easily one of the best things I've had in a long time--super flavorful and unique. The pizza with the date syrup was also amazing, such a great combo of sweet and savory. Dessert did not disappoint either. Huge shoutout to our server Nicholas--he was so sweet and gave us some awesome NYC recs. The service overall was excellent. Would definitely recommend and will 100% be stopping by again.

    Caesar Salad
    Lindsay L.

Came for the Caesar salad and it did not disappoint. Perfect portion, loved the use of tahini, cheese was fluffy and romaine was crisp. It's a little pricey but based on location and how much salad you get, it's fair. Would definitely return.

Ask the Community - Stretch Pizza

Do they have slices? Or only whole pizzas?

Whole only! But it's worth it.

Are reservations needed for lunch here?

No they are not really needed unless you have a party larger than four and you need a big table. This is my favorite restaurant in all of New York so enjoy yourself and try something different .

Do they have a take out option?

Take out yes but I am not sure regarding delivery.

Is there outdoor / pet friendly seating?

No outdoor (as of today) seating but they might add.

Hi what type of meat is in the meatball sliders?

We also got garlic knots which were awesome also! I enjoyed the sitting at the counter experience and having an ice cold coke with my slice. It was the best snack before my next dinner meal and I cannot complain at all! This is definitely one of my favorite pizza places in NY!

Pizza is ready in 15 minutes, which in my case was less time for me to walk from hotel and pick it up. This location had two storefronts- one for pizza by the slice and the other for the full pie. Full pie line is shorter though still formidable. Line by the slice stretches around the corner. Pizza itself is all right. Toppings are pretty average and crust is chewy as it should be. Little bit too hard on my opinion. As a tourist - it was a must try. However - I wouldn't do it again.

The arancini was a standout: perfectly crisp on the outside, creamy inside, and served with a rich, delicious sauce that tied it all together. We ended on the tiramisu, which was absolutely worth saving room. It was light, flavorful, and a perfect finish to the meal. What really elevated the experience, though, was the staff. Everyone was genuinely kind and helpful--especially notable for New York--and it made the whole evening feel relaxed and welcoming. A small heads-up: it's a bit tricky to find, so give yourself extra time. That said, the hidden, underground subway setting is part of the charm and makes the whole experience feel unique. To start with the good: the arancini were perfectly passable, and the Sicilian pie was enjoyed by all. I would describe it as more of a Detroit style actually, with a super crispy crust and nice textural contrast. On the other hand, we did not enjoy the seasonal vegetable pie or the nepo pie. I generally really like this sort of no-cheese, umami-heavy pizza, but the nepo was so salty! I'm not sure what specific ingredient was missing, but missing it was. My hopes for a recreation of the rossa pie I enjoyed at Farina prior to their closure were dashed. As for the vegetable pie, the vegetables tasted like the frozen veggies one might find in what was once marketed as a "TV dinner". It was a shame, since the sauce of the white pie was otherwise pretty good.

Hoping to salvage the meal, I ordered their Chicken Parmesan. It was the Hail Mary pass that unfortunately did not connect. The first thing you notice is the main bar wall, with its exposed centuries-old brick that has survived every bit of chaos this city could throw at it. It's subtly backlit from with a warm, amber glow that highlights every single historic groove and imperfection, making the whole room look like it's breathing. I have to say the centerpiece of the entire narrow room is the bar itself, and let me tell you, it is an absolute stunner of a contrast. Instead of the usual dark, sticky tavern wood, they've dropped in a long, continuous slab of pristine, elegantly smooth white stone. It glows under the soft lighting like a block of polished marble. There are no strobe lights and no obnoxious, skull-rattling bass in this joint. Instead, the room is wrapped in a blanket of incredibly chill music that matches the pulse of the room perfectly. It's just loud enough to drown out the noise in your own head, but quiet enough that you don't have to scream over the smooth white counter to be heard. People aren't here to be seen on TikTok; they're here to disappear for an hour or three. You slide into a chair, order a proper Old Fashioned from a bartender who doesn't rush the pour, and watch the ice melt against the amber-lit brick. It's the ultimate underground exhale--a perfect, narrow slice of peace in a city that never shuts up. Cheers!

I got eggplant rollatini, an appetizer but a hearty dish. My mother got the rigatoni with mozzarella and eggplant and my other friend got the seafood pasta. Overall, pretty standard fare Italian American food for an average price point in the neighborhood. The calamari in the seafood was slightly overcooked but it was plentiful with clams, mussels, and shrimp as well. Overall, the restaurant was busy at 5:30pm on a Tuesday and we were glad to be able to grab seats at the bar. I would go again if I were seeing a show in the neighborhood but not for the food itself.
