We have been here twice since we found out that they carry the mochi donuts (only Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday)! I have been wanting to try them for a long time but didn't want to head all the way to Newport so this was a happy surprise. However, beyond the mochi donuts we were extremely pleased to see they have their own bakery items, yummy tea drinks, and coffee! Their brioche buns are to die for, so much more moist and fresh than 85. They have an Ube pastry that was delicious, as well as various pudding items, croissants, biscotti and scones, even some savory pastries. All that we have tried are spectacular! The teas that are offered are limited to some green, black, speciality fresh lemon drinks, and some matcha drinks with fresh fruit. They do have boba as well as pudding, not as many places around have pudding. Their puff cream top also sounds delicious and I will be trying it in the future. The online ordering experience on their square site is excellent, they always have the stock updated in real time so you can know whether an item you want in the bakery is out of stock at the time of your order. The staff has been enforcing social distancing for their small space with pick up on a separate table, and everyone there is very kind and helpful! The drink is like, having a slice of cheesecake while simultaneously drinking refreshing ice tea. It's different from any of your typical boba drinks. I've had this same drink at Happy Lemon in Irvine and it simply does not compare (which doesn't make sense because it's a chain??). I really like their Bolo Bao (pineapple bun), and their almond brittle that's already made and boxed in a plastic container. I have not been disappointed at this place whenever I go. Their prices are reasonable, since the bread is fresh. Their business philosophy is similar to their 85 Degrees Bakery competitor. Say a Pineapple Bun for $1.30 is decent for its quality. The bread is rather thicker and not so much air that it flattens after the first bite. The BBQ Pork Baos is okay. I prefer the dim sum places ones. The egg custards is delicious, maybe because I could live off them. Freshly baked and perfectly coloring satisfies. Yes, I'm probably bias about egg custards because I order/buy them almost every time, and I'm never disappointed. I think the quality here is good. And also minus the 85 Degrees hype. This location doesn't seem as crowded. Never a line here, maybe because it's a bit hidden in the plaza? I've tried the coffee before, and the verdict is I rather stay with Mr. & Mrs. Starbucks! The other flavored drinks I've yet to try. But Sunmerry is known for the bakery, and not do much for their drinks. Although that smiling animated face on the cup does attract attention... We ordered 2hrs ahead of time since they wouldn't let us preorder online we called. And they got our name and never asked us to pay for them ahead of time. We told them we will be there at 2PM. Their options are usually lacking, and maybe not fresh, but sufficient enough if they have green tea something, taro something, earl grey croissant, or almond something. This location includes the Sunmerry bakery which reminds me of 85 degrees bakery. Very nice selection of pastries. The drink menu has a larger selection than the one in Gardena. I ordered the matcha latte with tiramisu salted cheese as my go to drink. I saw that they had a sign that say "It's back!" Strawberry Fromage! So I asked the cashier and he told me its their winter drink. So I got one as well. I would have to give it to them because both the matcha and strawberry fromage were both good. This place is located in the Atlantic Times Square plaza. Upon entering, they were bringing out some fresh bread. There are about 3-4 cases of breads with trays and tongs for you to pick and choose as you would like. I saw a 4/$5 special on their egg tarts and wanted to try some. Then, all of a sudden to the left of the egg tarts I see a little fly buzzing around inside the breads and decided I would pass on trying their breads/pastries. GROSS!! They should try and keep their doors closed. I headed towards the back, where I ordered the Green Tea with Cheese foam cream. I waited a while for the drink, but the workers were friendly and they also filled my drink up to the top (not like some of the other stingy places that fill it "to the line"). The green tea tasted refreshing and the cheese foam on top was a great addition to the drink. There is a salty and sweet taste to it, but it doesn't taste like eating a block of cheese. I recently came here to over the weekend and I was surprised how busy this location was. There was a line wrapped from the cashier past the baked goods to the door. It made it a little difficult to be able to see and pick out the baked goods. I think it would've been better if they had the line go on the other side where the bench ran along the wall since nobody was using it. I grabbed a few baked bread buns (unfortunately there were a few empty cases so selection was low) and the taro milky cake from the refrigerated area in the middle of the store. It took at least 20 minutes waiting in line since there was only one register. My kids really enjoyed the bread buns but the taro milky cake was very disappointing! It must've been more than a day old because you couldn't even cut it and when I tried to take a bite of it, it was so dry, I couldn't even chew it.
