I heard tons of reviews that this place is famous for their salted cheese foam teas. So I went there and I ordered the light oolong tea with cheese foam and it was BOMB. The cheese foam was not too salty but it was good with the tea. This is my #1 place for cheese foam tea. It was also my first time trying salted cheese foam tea and it was delightful. This cute bakery has interesting treats for reasonable prices. 5 stars for the Daifuku mochi, I've tried daifuku mochi at the Tsukiji Fish market in japan and the mochi here is comparable, in other words it's really good and really close to the mochi I've had in japan. It came with strawberry and matcha with red bean inside. 2 for 5 dollars. They also had really nice presented chocolate covered strawberries. let's talk about plastic bags not breads. So during the pandemic, the store would place the bags by the door and make customers pick up a plastic bag before selecting breads. I understand they wanted customers to practice self serve due to hygienic reason. I personally think it was a little wasteful because I have seen customers pick up a couple of plastic bags at once. Now we are kind of back to normal, I guess this place thinks they should be more environmental friendly ( or tbh they are getting more stingy) , they decide to charge customers for plastic bags. I forgot how much it was but I have never experienced a bakery that would charge for plastic bags. I bought like 5-6 breads that one time and almost dropped one on the way to my car. I didn't pay for the bag not because I am stingy but I just felt it's ridiculous for them to charge for bags now when they were soooo generous with their bags before. I frequent this plaza often because I go to OK Cafe all the time, and I always walk by Sunmerry Bakery/Happy Lemon. I finally decided to give it a try this weekend and I'm hooked! PARKING: Ample parking in their underground parking structure. It can get crowded during peak times, but it's never been a huge issue. AMBIENCE: Cute and spacious. The Happy Lemon mascot is so cute! PRICING: Comparable to 85C Bakery. Breads are around $2 and the drinks are $3-5. FOOD/DRINKS: Some of the bread items are identical to 85C - right down to the wrapper designs! I've only tried their egg tarts and this garlic parmesan roll, but both were tasty. Their egg tarts aren't as flaky and buttery, and are more delicate with more of a pie crust. For drinks, we tried their Green Tea with Salted Cheese and Boba Milk Tea with Puff Cream. Like a lot of boba places, they let you customize your sugar and ice levels (we got 50% sugar, regular ice for both). I really liked both of these drinks, especially the salted cheese one! It has more topping than the one from 85C and is saltier which I prefer. They also serve it in a cup with a lid, which I think is better than the way 85C serves it, because it's the best way to drink it and get a good ratio of tea and cheese topping. Came upon this bakery as I was walking by after lunch. I wanted to grab a drink and ended up getting a salted cheese coffee with milk, later upon reflecting I should have just gotten a salted cheese latte. Love the drink. I also brought three bake goods and consumed them 3-4 hours after leaving the bakery; it was moist and flavorful compared to other similar asian type bakeries. I was dying to try their mochi donut, but it was a bit disappointment. It was heavier than I thought and did not taste any flavor. I've tried only the ones from Modo Hawaii mochi donuts in Mitsuwa in Torrance, and I loved those. Maybe just personal preference. Happy Lemon totally reminds me of my time spent in Shanghai as it was literally everywhere! Their tea is good quality and isnt overbrwed like many other tea joints. They have one of the better milk teas I have tasted but my favorite drink is the lemon ulong iced tea, its so refreshing and no one else offers it. Terrible! No consistency! 70% sweet is like 20% sweet. Previous visit, 50% sweet was 0% sweet . When ask to add syrup, they just wait for you to rip open the lid so they can pour it in, walks away and be done with me . They don't even offer to reseal, remake or ask if it is sweet enough. read more

For drinks I always go for like a matcha milk tea with cheese foam and boba. The only downside is that there are not enough lounging chairs to sit on when crowds of people come in. They all offer the same types of baked goods - e.g. hot dog and cheese, shredded pork, etc. and so far I prefer the experience and flavors here than at the other places. Best place for coconut raisin twist bread!! One of my favorite items here! The almond crossiant and the green tea crossiant are also another favorite! I've tried their green tea cheese foam drink, it was quite good to my surprise. Love that we have so many good bakeries in the 626 area! I prefer Sunmerry over 85 degrees or JJ Bakery. This is a very cute bakery and the service is quick. They have a great selection and some of the selection is unique that you can't find elsewhere. They also have a large selection of drinks including some new cheese series drinks. Plus they have a place for people to sit and eat which is always a plus. Parking is good. I used to go to Happy Lemon a lot when I was living in China. I was so happy to find it here in Alhambra! My family, friends, and I couldn't say no to $1 fresh bread and BOGO drinks during their grand opening weekend. The weather was pretty hot so I was glad they were offering free samples while we were standing in line (average 30 min). The chocolate croissant was good but the chocolate on the top was a little too much so I removed it. The garlic bread is delicious too!! I went here twice during the grand opening and everytime I came they ran out of the matcha croissant!! :( Hopefully I get a chance to try it soon. Wanted to try this place out since it reminded me of 85C Bakery. I came later on in the night so there weren't as many pastries out but that was understandable. I really wanted to try their green tea croissants but they were all out. I ended up getting a chicken parmesan bread and a Nutella cookie bun. They were both really good! Been here 3 times. Bought some pastries once, came back for promotional drinks another time and this final time I purchased their tiramisu 8" cake. Their pastries were a-ok. Their drinks were bleh and finally the straw that broke the camel's back was this tiramisu cake. I have never had anything quite like this. This is the driest tasteless cake I have ever purchased and that's not an exaggeration. I bought it for my friends birthday and as soon as it was served one of my friends (who happens to have worked at a bakery before) says "is this cake 4 days old?" Um... no, I just bought it. I tried the cake and I can't disagree with her. It was dry, stale, and just straight up terrible. Don't buy their cakes...at least skip the tiramisu. If you like tiramisu the best one is at Oh My Pan. This cake was a true mistake. Obviously no one had seconds and the birthday girl reluctantly took it home. Stick with their pastries and make sure you go during the day. You only get leftovers and very little selection at night. read more
