I love Super Mex and they can pretty much do no harm in my book. This location is one of the best. My favorite meal here is the #31 which has flautas and a taco. Their chicken taco is crispy and full of flavor and their flautas are always fried to perfection. Don't try to be healthy and get a taco salad, one day my husband did and was disappointed. Go for their classics like the burritos and tacos. Private lot in the back is convenient for this location as well. This location is by far the worst experience yet at this chain of restaurants. 2 greeters for a not so busy night, 2 waitresses, 4 bartenders inclusing a bar tender who bad talks customers in another language and our waitress who takes frequent breaks behind the bar and in the back. This place is a must go to but only in the morning when everything is fresh and the waitresses are not rude. My drink was not good. I told her I would like another but can she share with the bartender how I would like it altered. She came back with something akin to toilet water mixed with sink water. It you can't make drinks or get offended when a customer isn't satisfied then please stick to beer. The chips were unusually bad. I love super mex, I have been going to various locations for about 15 years now. I go for something just about every week or so. Despite my consistent love affair, this location left a bad taste in my mouth. My girlfriend and I came in near closing time on 3/18 and were seated immediately. Nice staff, very accommodating. We ordered the cocido and the crispy shredded beef taco and tamale plate. Almost everything about our meal was terrible. My soup was bland, the vegetables were underdone, and the meat was tough; just awful. My girlfriend commented that the taco was unpleasant. The beans tasted burned, the rice was dry and flavorless. The one saving grace for her was that the tamale was ok. The entire meal was really just terrible. I wholly recommend you try another location! read more

I used to love this place. Been coming here over ten years. Food is not as good as it used to be. Been getting a lot of food to go recently and I keep getting ripped off. I usually get nachos. One of my friends calls it "Mexican Denny's." Which sounds about right. I had the carnitas super mex burrito and a bucket of Coronas. Don't know it was the Coronas talking, but it was very good. Tender pork and a slightly sweet spicy sauce on top. It hits the the spot. Staff is very friendly and the place has a look of a typical Mexican restaurant in Rosarito. Not awful but not the best ever either. I don't go out of my way to come here, but it does hit the spot for a good Mexican meal and my friend likes this place a lot. The extra star is for the great service I always get when I am here. Everyone is always friendly and they allow you to take your time while eating. Excellent place for consistently prepared Mexican food. Some of the best chain restaurant salsa you'll ever have. Not a huge fan of their full-sized corn tortillas for their chips, but it's their signature way. Their mini chinos are cooked to perfection & they certainly don't skip on the accoutrements. They have decent California Mexican Food. I wish their tacos where homemade- when ordered- that would improve my rating for them. They did accommodate me when I ordered flour chips- they made them fresh on the spot- crispy and perfect for $0.70 more. The machacca breakfast burrito was perfectly made. Saturday and Sunday they actually serve breakfast but they have some breakfast items on their menu during the weekdays. There is outside patio area that is partially covered with ivy. 5 stars for the best salsa in Long Beach, or even southern california. I get tubs of salsa from Super Mex ALL the time, and it's so incredibly cheap!!!! I'd give the food a 3, it's good when you have a hankerin for mexican, but it's not the best mexican I've ever had. I'd prefer a burrito from Taqueria on 4th St, or enchiladas/tamales from El Cholo in LA. But Super Mex really doesn't disappoint, and it's quick, cheap and easy! Love it. read more

I've been a frequent customer for about 8 years now. They have the best hard shell chicken tacos ever! I break my diet for them any time I go to long beach. I ate here not too long ago for a beautiful Saturday lunch after the renovation. It was wonderful. Patio is great, our server was on top of i, and the food was fantastic. We both ordered the combination plate with two chicken taquitos, one chicken taco, rice and beans. We also got great micheladas and they hit the spot! I love Super Mex! Granted I get the same thing and I don't like the other things! Carne Asada Super Mex Burrito, that's it. Don't like their chicken because its shredded and their fish is just a mess. I think their flautas are great but not something I'm going to order. Their salsa is DELICIOUS! Their rice is perfectly seasoned and cooked. Beans are a bit runny but it is my preference. I'll never order a wet burrito but somehow its the only thing I ever get at Super Mex (its how its comes). The "wet sauce" is a spicy red sauce with a bit of sweet. Enchiladas are also really good but not something I'll order for myself. read more

Super Mex has a wide variety of good Mexican food--tacos, burritos, quesadillas, taquitos, meals, a la carte dishes, salads, etc. Hubby likes what's on the menu too. The prices are good and the wait staff is generally attentive, although I've been there enough times to have had a couple of issues. I teach at a school that's pretty close, so if we have a little extra time for lunch (we usually have 30 minutes, so the norm is to inhale our food), then off we go to Super Mex. I like Mexican food but do not eat lard so I am happy that they have the healthy menu which doesn't have any pork at all (I asked). Tried a couple things but my favorite is the chicken burrito. It is shredded and in a wheat tortilla, with pinto beans and green rice. They also put lettuce in it and bathe it in red sauce and cheese and top it with guacamole. Very good! Drove around the neighborhood looking for parking but there wasn't a single open spot anywhere, so we parked in the lot above Von's supermarket (sorry!). I ate in the same place years ago the last time business brought me to Long Beach. Seemed like the same place but the name may have changed. Anyway, the food was still great. It's basically the same Tex-Mex that I'm used to eating in Dallas. I got the beef enchiladas because that's pure comfort food for me. Chips and salsa are a little different here, because they bring baskets of round, crisp tortillas and you break them into chips to dip. The salsa was very good and I'm sure we finished at least three baskets of tortillas. Service was so-so but the place was very busy. A great place for Tex-Mex in Long Beach. read more

Come for the chips and salsa. I'm a big fan of Mexican food and this is hands down one of the BEST SALSAS I've tasted. The food is on the heavy side, (lots of melted cheese) but once you add that SALSA to a taco or a burrito, you're in business.
