Randomly came across this place while in the area while looking for a quick, cheap meal and decided to check it out having never heard of it before and not realizing how popular and well-known it was! We went early Saturday night and was met with a long line (which I'm assuming is to be expected), but didn't have to wait long as the line moved quickly. The space is very tiny and no frills with an only few tables for dining in, as most people primarily order to go. The food was so delicious and so reasonably priced!! We got the pork dan dan noodles, the beef noodles in hot and spicy soup, and the fried pork and chive dumplings. The dan dan noodles were a little more peanutty than I'm used to, but still solid. For the hot and spicy noodle soup, they actually accidentally gave us chicken instead of the beef we ordered, which was a bummer, but I still greatly enjoyed it overall as the broth was incredibly flavorful and the noodles were a nice chewy texture. Talk about hole in the wall, amazing food. This place is the absolute definition of that. In fact, when you walk in they have a little shirt on their walls that say, "Little place, big taste ". After having their food, I wish I brought that t-shirt home!! I read a few reviews and a lot of people mentioned their dumplings, which were amazing. Throw a little (or drench them, which I promise you is the better choice) chilli oil on them and you will be in dumpling heaven. But their pork belly buns - a MUST. The dumplings are interesting shape - love the crispiness of the wrapping. Only downside here is dining in. It is sooooo stressful, the restaurant is really small and crowded all the time which is fine but had a recent bad experience. My boiling hot soup came out before a table was available and they just handed to me...so I just held it while standing and it was super hot. Luckily a nearby table let me put down my bowl on their table while I waited. Also once we got a table, people were basically standing over us the entire time we ate which was very uncomfortable. For price, this place is okay. I was disappointed because typically these hole-in-the-wall places in Chinatown serve up some amazing food loaded with flavor at a great price despite the meh ambiance and usually bad service. This place had all of the typical artifacts of that but the food was okay at best. We had the black bean noodles and the dumplings. Black bean noodles had great texture, though didn't taste hand pulled to me. Mouthfeel of the sauce was great but the flavor was severely lacking, I'd say add salt usually but it was salty and nothing else. Dumplings took forever because they ran out of dumplings and had to make it all from scratch - that tells me they're not very efficient and we waited over 30 minutes for them - by the time we got them we were basically already done with our noodles. We asked why it took so long and they just said they ran out - shouldn't they be making more as soon as they see that their reserves are low? Anyway, dumplings totally not worth the wait. I could make better ones at home that have more flavor. For the price though it's not bad, but probably better to take this to go and not eating inside. Pretty good noodles. They have a nice chew to them but I was surprised to hear they are hand pulled since the noodle is so thin and uniform. I was recommended the burning hot pork noodles, and they had a good amount of heat and were very flavorful. As a baddie who can handle heat, it was not too hot in my opinion but my mom thought they were slightly too spicy for her palette but admitted they were more flavorful than her soup noodles. This place is straight and to the point, from the service down to the title. They don't waste time and they don't skimp on flavor. I ordered the ten fried pork and chive dumplings. On the first bite, you get a nice blend of salt and savory tastes. The chives certainly don't go unnoticed: the garden-esque background to the meat comes in to form the iconic dumpling flavor that we all know and loved. This long-standing Chinatown staple is still around! I ordered two burning chicken and two burning beef noodles. Excellent, the place was packed full of people and the line was super long. It's a no frills casual eatery with your typical black vinegar and soy sauce and the essential chili oil on the tables. Vibe is ok but nothing special. Their dumplings are even better than any other place I had been to! Am definitely coming to get dumplings again. The staff is rude however and I had a bad feeling their food might not be so sanitary. All of it was so tasty. Noodles had the perfect texture, and the pan fried dumplings were just the right amount of crispy for me. The only drawback is the line! In the category of cheap eats, this'll be a great spot to hit up if your pockets are tight but the stomach is hungry. Portions are def on the larger side. Order a couple dishes and share to have a taste of everything or if you just want potstickers, that alone can fill you up. This spot def isn't a fancy dine in.
