Please be aware that this restaurant appears to have changed owners and menu. Also...below. Came in based on the amazing Yelp pictures and website as I love Peruvian and was looking to try their causa and pulpo. When we arrived, we received menus (see pics) that did not reflect the menu items shown in Yelp pictures and reviews. The server knew very little English to the point where basic ordering was challenging to do. The pisco sours appeared to be made with margarita mix. It was slightly green, cloyingly sweet and for almost $13, something you might find in a sports bar. Not resembling a craft sour at all. We ordered mixed ceviche. That was actually fairly good, though it had a ton of calamari rings and the white fish was stringy. [[HIGHLIGHT]]That said, we had two cockroach sightings in a 30 minute period, one to left and right of me on the booth seat.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I let out a blood curdling scream. We let the server know "cucaracha!!" The server was earnest in her search for the first one and caught the second one. She is the best part of this review because she escalated the issue to her manager who apologized and kind of blamed it on a neighbors roach problem. He offered to discount, then comp the ceviche. We were too bugged out (pun intended) to stay for dinner. In fairness, the food that we did try wasn't bad but the restaurant felt like a bait and switch between the Yelp profile and true menu and roaches were a dealbreaker. Will not return.

First time here a few people said this place was really good so i had to give it a chance and let me tell yall its Plenty of parking [[HIGHLIGHT]]Place is super clean and inviting[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] And the customer service was elite That green sauce is Definitely coming back !!

My friend is Peruvian and he always tells me to try their food with him. We went to a place in la which had a lot of reviews, but no it was not worth the hype for the lomo saltado. This place though was delicious when we ordered that and his favorite is the fried corn chips. I do recommend here, but it is a little pricey and the waiter wasn't very attentive with getting us drinks. Still not bad to try if you're new to Peruvian food. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place is cute and small, but wasn't packed.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Parking lot is in the back and tight.

What an incredible surprise this place was. We usually go to Aji to get our Peruvian, but this place was every bit as good if not better than aji. The presentations were well done if not a bit too contrived. On the tallarine beef I would have preferred the fries mixed into the sauté pan with the filet. But it tasted very good just the same. The corn in the ceviche was great. I highly recommend this place. You gotta go if you like Peruvian cooking, they do it right at azucar, which means "sugar" and this place is sweet.

Really great food. We shared the lomo saltado plate and the fried bananas. 10/10 Quick service! Overall, I would definitely come back. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Restaurant was pretty and super clean.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

This place was fantastic! I went here with my date and both of us agreed we would want to come back. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance was fantastic and aesthetically pleasing[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]], our server was extremely attentive and made sure we had everything we needed and the food was really delicious. I had the Lomo Costa & Sierra and my date had the Pulpo brasero. For my dish, the steak and shrimp were cooked just right and the fries were fresh and crispy. Finding Peruvian corn in the accompanying rice was a nice touch as well. However, my date's dish was the real star of the evening. We were hesitant to order octopus since it's usually hit or miss with how it's cooked, but this was cooked perfectly. It had a nice char and the octopus was not tough or chewy but extremely flavorful with the spices and chimichurri sauce. the accompanying vegetables were cooked wonderfully as well. I've already recommended this place to a couple of my friends already and I will definitely be back in the future.

Alan was so incredibly nice! This place is an absolute Long Beach hidden gem. AMAZING ambience, very aesthetic. Food was nothing short of delicious. Got the ceviche a la diabla and lomo. Great plating presentation. Will be coming back with friends!

Authentic Peruvian food in Long Beach. It is a small business that original ingredients and get focus on deliver a beautiful presentation of the food. The flavors are unbelievable. People are very nice with the service and all dishes are prepared at the moment.

I'm the heart of Long Beach, Ca Cambodia Town sits a Cuban gem of a restaurant! This place is legit. Items I've never heard of and the sangria has fresh fresh berries mixed in. The food is outstanding and the patrons are people from all around just looking for food food. This is the only Cuban restaurant in ling beach. The decor is luxurious. You would not expect such interior design, but when you want in it's just wow! This is where dreams come true, the hidden gems that have all the flavors and passion poured into every bite. This is not Habana in Costa Mesa or Isla Cubana in La Palma, this is better this is an experience worth the time. Attached to the complex is a parking lot that has 20+ parking spaces. Otherwise it's street parking. The area is dense so consider a ride share option if your local.

After yoga with my friends, we decided to grab some brunch here. This spot is owned by a young Cuban couple, and Azucar is actually their second establishment. Their first spot is in Whittier by the name of Sage Social Eatery. The owner, Jorge, offered us some sangria or mimosas to start, but we decided to opt out for water instead. FOOD: We decided to share a couple of dishes between the 4 of us. EMPANADAS - If you cannot decide on an appetizer, definitely order the empanadas. You can't go wrong! It comes with this delicious sauce. YUCA CON CHICHARRON - We had originally wanted Papas Rellenas, but htye didn't have any at the time. This appetizer was very interesting. It reminded me of a chunky potato salad, but with just yuca and crispy bits of chicharron. RABO ENCENDIDO - The braised oxtail was super tender and fall off the bone. This was probably my favorite entree out of the 2 choices we made. ROPA VIEJA - This dish was super flavorful, but Ropa Vieja isn't my usual go-to when it comes to Cuban food because most of the time the prime beef is too stringy for me. GUAVA & CREAM CHEESE DUTCHBABY PANCAKES - This was a shareble treat. My friend, who's super into desserts, really liked the texture and everything in it altogether. AMBIANCE: I love how the place is made up of furniture and decor found by Jorge in thrift shops. He had mentioned he'd buy some things then modernize them. It's super cute how the painted mural is of Jorge's wife and baby. Vibrant and pretty. LOCATION: Easy to miss, it is right next to Crystal Thai-Cambodian Cuisine on 10th. Watch out for the parking spots, as some of the spots belong to tenants or Crystal customers! There is also free street parking, if available.

We weren't even looking for Peruvian and we stumble upon this little gem of a restaurant hidden in plain sight. From the menu to service this has been an astonishing experience. Where do I start with the environment? Cozy, classy, and with a spark of hipster style, it is the best combo for your next taste of the Southern American cuisine.

We tried their lomito saltado and arrocito norteno. They didn't provide any aji sauce for the lomito (surprising) but were quick to bring some when we requested it. The beef was very tender! So although definitely more expensive than more casual Peruvian spots, we could taste the quality. I also loved the arrocito norteno, as I love seafood paella, and this was basically that. The scallops and octopus were so good! This place is a bit more luxe than the other Peruvian places I've tried before, which is reflected in their price. Although we were there in the day, I could imagine this place being a cute date spot at night. Glad to try this main stay in Long Beach and would recommend for a bit more upscale meal (although no pressure to dress nice at all, just seems like that vibe).

Aji on 4th Streets Retro Row delivered the goods as my Wife & I had journeyed down to Peru in 2024 and from Lima, Cusco and Puno. The flavours encompassed in the dishes we'd ordered which were the Lomito Saltado and the Aji De Gallina were as authentic here as what we dined on back in 2024 which certifies them as premier purveyors of Peruvian cuisine. Drinks wise, they had Maracuya juice which is their local version of passionfruit in that region as well as Chicha Morada which is their Purple Corn beverage composed of cinnamon, cloves, fresh lime juice and when in Peru, they'll utilize pineapple husks for flavouring. It apparently is more popular in Peru than Coca-Cola and after a few sips you'll inevitably see why. Next up when I return will be the Causa trio, in the meanwhile this establishment comes heavily recommended from someone who has traveled to Peru as they hit the nail on the head with their offerings.

We got the beef empanada and chicken empanadas. Those were pretty nice portions for $4 each and had generous fillings. I liked the beef one more. The lomo saltado was okay - the beef was cooked to medium but only a little juicy and a bit tough. The fries felt like they were frozen as some had weird texture and the rice is undercooked. I've had better so I was a little disappointed. The tallarine verde con pollo is a pesto pasta with chicken, Peruvian style. I love the creaminess and very flavorful and hearty pesto sauce in the dish. Noodles were of good texture despite it being very hot in temperature. The sangrias were excellent. For $7 it is fair for a nice cocktail drink. I liked the red sangria more. It was fairly strong. Service is good as expected since we were the only table and they made sure we got everything we wanted, on request. Prices were a bit high (my first impression from menus a year ago was like, wow nice value for good portions at good quality, but prices have almost doubled plus 4% extra which makes it hard to justify casually going here unless for a nice meal out, minus the ambience, which is where I took off a star)

My boyfriend's brother did the ordering since he's been here a lot. He ordered: Peruvian Cebiche: which was the catch of the day, tiger milk, ahi Amarillo, concha, and sweet potato. It was so delicious! I believe the catch of the day was either scallop or white fish which was in the tiger milk and ahi Amarillo sauce which was a sour like sauce which pairs well with the fish. It was also a great dipping sauce for the other sushi we got. If I could, I would have slurped the whole thing (the sauce) lol. Blue Fin Sashimi: with kizami wasabi and special soy sauce. If you have tried blue fin you are missing out. The sashimi just melts in your mouth and has such an easy chew to it. Sounded like an interesting twist. Both kinds of food are respectfully delicious in their own ways. For starters, we shared most of the appetizers, so we did the hamachi tostada. Super fresh and a nice flavorful bite. We also shared the jalapeño yellowtail and octopus fire. Both were really good but just a bit too much sauce. That's the only thing that separated the finish, aside from that, the fish was fresh. For sushi we did, salmon belly, blue fin tuna, and yellow tail belly. Def enjoyed these three pieces. Wife and I ordered blue crab hand roll, delicious. We were still hungry and ordered a couple of rolls. Nothing too spectacular, again a bit too much sauce in my opinion. Service was kinda slow here, ordered our foods, dropped off our foods, didn't really come back to check in. No refill on waters or drinks. Other than that, solid place. Would I come back? Maybe!

For the rest of the restaurant (which opens at 11am and offers a more extensive menu) I defer to other reviews. My family and I stayed in the hotel over the weekend and on an early Sunday morning (around 10am) I brought the kids here to give mom some much needed rest. I was immediately struck by the beautiful view - overlooking the Queensway Bay and the Long Beach waterfront. The restaurant is breezy, clean, and open, resembling a Mexican / Central American beach resort that the hotel themes itself around. I was quite surprised, however, to see a very abbreviated, expensive menu even at 10am, and the hardworking, amicable staff pulling small items from the refrigerator and heating them in a toaster oven. The overall picture was highly reminiscent of Starbucks, but with marginally higher quality and three times the price. I asked if anything was available that was made fresh, and the staff pointed out the main restaurant wouldn't open until 11am. We ordered the croissant sandwich ($18) and country toast ($13), and after 15 minutes for the sandwich and 25 minutes for the toast they arrived. While good, the croissant sandwich was definitely reheated, likely assembled from a number of components from a Sodexho catalog, the sausage patty definitely not homemade, and the egg a pre-made disc. No shells were cracked in the making of this one. The toast was attractive enough, but was not really toast at all - just bread with cheese and jam on top. It was good, but nothing extraordinary. While I'm deducting a point for the very long wait time for such simple, assembled food to reach us, the staff was excellent. They enjoyed greeting and playing with the children, helped with the stroller, and offered us a chocolate milk gratis after noting how long we were waiting for our simple order (with my children complaining about how famished they were). It's likely the lack of any competition in the area that keeps prices high and food quality low, but I can't help but think that some simple managerial decisions on hours and prices would make things much better. Despite fantastic staff I can't recommend Fuego's cafe. Perhaps the main restaurant would be better for a proper breakfast, but on a Sunday morning I'd expect it to open sooner. While the view is excellent, with middling food analogous to Starbucks and markedly elevated prices, if you're at the Maya I recommend you sleep in, or, better, hop across the Bay for superior options.
