Decent local sushi spot. The regular rolls were good - salmon and tuna both fresh. They did break apart rather easily and were on the smaller side, but nothing to complain about for $7-8 a roll. Not a very big place and the parking in the private lot is limited (there are many neighboring businesses), but there is a good amount of indoor seating (no outdoor seating). The highlight is the speed of service - the fastest I've ever gotten sushi from time order was placed to served. We got our rolls served within 5 minutes of ordering, made fresh just beside us by two very efficient chefs. There were plenty of calls coming in for takeout, but we were one of two parties in the shop on a weeknight for early dinnertime (5pm). The service did not feel pressuring, but there was always someone (two servers rotating) available if we needed something. We only got regular rolls, but the menu is fairly expansive with two pages of specialty rolls to try. I had to update review after my recent experience with this restaurant . I've been coming there for at least 4 years. Today I asked for my usual vivid roll with a side of jalapeños . The waitress was rude and an exceptionally cold to me . I expressed that I've never been up charged for Jalapeños and asked to speak to the manager . I asked for her name and she wouldn't give it to me. I expressed that I've written reviews about this company before but she didn't care. When I continued to express my discontent with her service, she advised that she wouldn't give me the manager info . The food here is good . I came here because the yelp reviews were really good. I had the Fire Cracker roll. It was fresh and delicious. I also really liked the the miso soup. It was funny because we ordered 7 rolls between the 4 of us and the waiter said he thought we ordered too much. I've heard of up-selling but he wanted to sell less lol. We said, well we ordered what we wanted and there is no mistake. The food and drinks came fairly quickly. I also tried the mussels and they were rich and delicious. It's a small place but dinner on a Sunday was not very crowded. The party of four got this boat looking thing of sushi that took up the whole table. It was funny that party of 4 ordered a whole boat but the waiter was confused when we ordered many rolls. Lol Please be advised there is no all you can eat here. I've came to this sushi spot for years and a few years back. Someone else bought the place and let me tell you there's just one specific older Asian woman who is just so unprofessional. So I'll go on Postmates and order a bunch of food. I get sushi from them all the time literally And tell me why I spent $200 on sushi and she wants to charge me for a training stick. First of all when you go have sushi you have chopsticks so they don't charge us for chopsticks so just cause I ask for a training stick and I spent all this money. She wants to charge me a dollar for each. That's only one case of what she did. There has been multiple occasions of her being very unprofessional. Like I said, I go here all the time I dine in and I order and I've never experienced Something like this. This lady needs to be gone from this place. Very tasty sushi. The portions are huge and they had a 30% discount between 3-5:30. We ordered the number 1 roll which had crispy onions on top of it that were delish! We also checked in and hot the free garlic edamame. My husband ordered toro, uni, and tuna and they were all fresh and tasty. We wanted to try several things so we ended up with too much food but everything was very good. Nice small quiet place to enjoy sushi. We will definitely be back again. The sexy roll with cucumber was one of my favorites, definitely a must try. Can't wait to go back to try more things. The sushi chefs were really nice and overall a great place. We sat down to a dirty table, when pointed out, it was cleaned but in a half ass way. The ac was down. We ordered sashimi, which was all cut in chunky uneven pieces. Ordered a lobster handroll with out sauce, it came smothered in sauce, they then made it correctly and only then it was apparent why they had to put so much sauce on it. It was bland, flavorless, rubbery, etc. they brought everything out sloppy, uneven inconsistent pieces, if you have to smother sauce on everything you are trying to disguise lack of freshness and quality. The cuts of fish were messy especially the yellowtail. You don't serve the tail part of the yellowtail to your customers. It's chewy and full of tendons! YELP 100 REVIEW CHALLENGE 2016 --- 13/100 My hubby and I had major sushi cravings and the place we wanted to try out was super packed so we decided to give this place a shot. They let us in even though the place was closing in 30 minutes. The place is small but very homey. Employees were very friendly and patient as we looked at the menu. Hubby and I finally decided to order the Super Tiger Roll, Baked Lobster Roll, and Unagi Bowl. Super Tiger Roll: In: shrimp tempura, crab meat, avocado, cucumber. Out: spicy tuna, shrimp, avocado. Really good. We didn't expect the sushi size to be so big. Baked Lobster Roll: They really hooked it up! Usually they skimp on the lobster, but they place put so much lobster we had extra left over to put on our other sushi rolls. Unagi Bowl: At this point we were stuffed, but just like all the other times... my husband over did it with the food. Yet we still managed to finish it because the eel was cooked perfectly. I finally have a favorite neighborhood sushi restaurant!!! Ok. Technically I don't live in Toluca Lake BUT it only took me ten min to get there, which in LA counts! Right? When I came in I was greeted with big smiles and told to sit wherever I wanted. I came super hungry from the gym so I was ready to go. I got the heart attack app , the albacore crispy onion, salmon sushi, baked crab hand roll, yellowtail special roll, NBC, and the super volcano roll. So let's start. By the way, I got too much food. You could get half of what I got and be the happiest clam in the world. Heart attack app: really nice, it's your typical cream cheese crab fried goodness smothered in sauce. BUT what I loved about this place is the tempura wasn't too thick and the jalapeño wasn't overly battered. It wasn't as heavy as most places I've had it. Baked crab handroll: literally one of my favorite BCHRs that I've ever had. I was shocked. I asked my server what was different and she said the sauce is made in house and also they get all their fish delivered daily. (Huge points) It was sooo fresh and light and not overly sauced. It melted in my mouth. Next time I come back I may even just get a few of these and some salmon sushi. So glad I got this. You NEED to get one. Albacore crispy onion: really good. I usually like my fish cut a little thinner than it was and maybe a little more sauce since there was a massive amount of onions, but overall still a good dish. Salmon sushi: Loved, the lemon was a nice touch! Im a salmon sushi snob and get it every single place I go and this definitely passed!! NBC: loves the amount of avocado. They don't skimp you at all here. The texture was cool, a lot of fresh fish but a little crunch from the shrimp! I'd get it again. Yellowtail special roll: my fave roll, AND was a recommendation from my lovely server Anna. Light and fresh. Loved it. Super volcano: WOW. A whirlwind of flavor. Huge bites, lots of good stuff. I wouldn't get another baked roll if you get this though cause it's very very rich. They also have an awesome ice cream menu-- which is always nice to round out a meal. At the end of the meal I asked them the servers names cause they took such good care of me. Gotta let the management know that Derrick was amazing at getting everything out and making sure it tasted amazing, and Jayoung Anna and Chris were just absolutely amazing servers and really made my experience here memorable. Had dinner at this place the other night and was really happy with my meal and modified/custom sushi options this place offers. Me and a few of my friends had like 7 different rolls and oysters. Everything was good and fresh. I really like the art they put into their food. Every plate is like an art peace that you're about to do work on and eat. I think having all of the cool pictures in the menu helps a lot as well. Service was cool and so were the Sake bombs. This place is def 100% better vs the crappy sushi place that was in the same spot before. Great job on flipping the place into something fresh and enjoyable. OMG. Seriously the best sushi I have had to date!!! I was on vacation with my mom, visiting my sister and her husband who live around the corner from this amazing gem. We were enthusiastically greeted upon entering. It was a Tuesday evening and only a few other patrons were seated at tables and a couple at the sushi bar. After looking over the menu, my sister suggested I order a specialty roll. I ordered the Eagle Eye Roll. Our food came out relatively fast and I was SHOCKED to see the size of the portions. And the quality: UNBELIEVABLE. My Eagle Eye Roll (which was spicy albacore, shrimp tempura, and other yummy yumminess) was so fresh and so delicious!!!! The individual pieces were so large, I could barely finish my roll. I was really happy that I did not order anything else so I could enjoy every moment of this roll. My sister and her husband ordered a different specialty roll, which I cannot remember the name of, but their plate of food was also gigantic! Their roll was topped with a huge heaping pile of awesomely fried onions and was equally delicious! The restaurant itself is on the smaller side, set up like the typical "strip mall" sushi restaurant I've seen in Milwaukee, but very cute and clean. I loved the chandelier/light fixtures. I liked them so much I had to take a photo! My sister said they have a great happy hour special - 30% off rolls in the early dinner hours. Toluca Lake must be a saltwater lake because the salmon was excellent. I had the Superman Burrito. Ah yes, it sounds silly and it is definitely NOT ideal for sharing. But it's riceless and it also tastes amazing with soy sauce. The salmon was really good. It had a ton of flavor and the chunks were easy to bite. Dunk it in da dark sauce and you got melting fish. At least it felt like it melted in your mouth. The tuna was NOT good. It was very stringy and the flavor was lacking. So yeah, don't get tuna here. I also was not a fan of the yellowtail. So I'd just come for salmon. All in all, I had a pretty filling sushi dinner for ~$25 in Toluca Lake of all places. It's a bit pricey for me, but the server was super nice. Dude, what's with this sushi place being Korean though? I told my friend I wanted the bibimbop here and he laughed at me. Came here during lunch and it was pretty packed both inside and in the tiny parking lot. Only had the lunch special bulgogi plate, which comes with quite a bit of food which is nice. Salad, miso soup, seaweed salad, gyoza, rice, a roll, and the bulgogi. The rice and bulgogi were good, and I liked the salad and miso soup. But I have to mention that the California roll that came with the plate was the best California roll I had ever had!
