Randomly sitting at the nail salon I had a craving for some of Susiecakes delicious red velvet cupcakes and remembered that I received a gift card for Christmas! Unfortunately I of course, didn't have the gift card on me nor did I know the number which made it very difficult for them to be able to help me lol Instead of getting frustrated the staff were extremely patient and took what little details I had and found a copy of the purchase receipt! I had the most delicious chocolate cookie from Susie cakes it was that time of the month if you have a menstrual cycle you may know what I mean. I came in and I had never been inside the store , a few years before my mother had gotten my little sister a cake for her birthday party and I'm not really into cake so I don't think I really had a whole piece but it was really good ( super sweet) but it was delicious I digress , I came in and I said hey they asked "do you know what you want?" and I was like "no I don't do you have anything vegan ?" and then the lady robotically and kind of rudely responded "we are an all American bakery this and that" and I was like OK cool I had just asked if you had anything vegan before I looked at every single thing so just so you guys know there's nothing VEGAN there but there are a lot of very delicious cookies and cakes and you can tell they use quality ingredients I've been working throughout the whole pandemic in face to face customer service understand the frustration of people sometimes asking seemingly stupid questions but I was very nice so there was no real reason for the girl to be so kind of offputting I was really craving the cookie that's why I bought it but I probably wouldn't have bought it if I was in there looking for examples for something for a birthday party, based on that experience. Tasty. Though on the sweater side. So if you don't like sweet and heavy, their cakes and cupcakes are not it especially if you're a more whipped cream. Their cakes I will say buying a slice is so much more moist and soft than a cupcake. Funfetti is the favorite but the blueberry when they have them in season is also a favorite. read more

Your cakes and cupcakes are no doubt the best in town. Your customer service, terrible. I just purchased a birthday cake for my wife along with 4 cupcakes. The woman that helped me put the cupcakes in the bag on top of the cake box. I assumed that was not an issue and that the cake was lower then the top of the box .... Well that was not the case. When I got home the happy birthday was not on the cake but on the top of the box. When I called, they were kind enough to offer me a $3.00 refund for the inscription. Gee, thanks. My office gets cupcakes and cookies from SusieCakes all the time and man do they bake their items with love, care, and joy. It can be on the pricier side for some people BUT for a celebration or treat, I think their cupcakes are truly worth it. The cakes are moist and decadent with a frothy buttercream frosting to go along with it. For flavors, I've tried their classic vanilla blue, chocolate peanut butter, and red velvet- all of them were out of this world. They're definitely not your average cupcakes. As for their cookies, I've had their sugar cookies for Halloween and they are buttery goodness. The only con I foresee for a few folks would be how I don't think they offer much vegan options. But for those who don't have any dietary restrictions, this is the bakery brand to try!! read more

I have used Susie Cakes twice now and been blown away. Beautiful birthday cupcakes the first time, and a gorgeous graduation cake this past weekend. Ordering was a breeze on the website. I drove up to the curb after my order time and called the number on the sign. The cake was delivered to my car within a few minutes. Easy! Taste and presentation are everything and Susie's did not disappoint. The cakes and cupcakes were absolutely beautiful and retro in style which I loved. And they tasted better than they looked. Susie's offered something I could not replicate at home. And for what I received, their prices were fair. Thank you also for including the serving and storage suggestions. The only advice I would add is: it would be nice if you clearly stated how many people each item on your website served. I looked and looked and couldn't find it. Maybe I missed it? Not wanting to be short, I ordered the larger cake of the two sizes. OMG. It weighed about 10 pounds and could serve an army. Really! The smaller one would have more than been enough. It hurts me to even write this bc we have enjoyed SusieCakes for years. However, the absolutely ruined my daughter's birthday this weekend. I ordered two custom cakes weeks ago. My husband went to pick up the order the morning of and neither cake was frosted. He called me while at the bakery and the female that I spoke with said that she can't do anything about it and gave him a small cup of confetti... what in the world?! Two large cakes, no frosting one hour before birthday. Her exact words to me were "the person who took your order didn't get it right and there's nothing I can do now. I am not a cupcake fan. I have never really liked cupcakes - ever. However, the cupcakes here are AMAZING ! My favorite is the red velvet and chocolate. The cake part is dense and moist, buttery, and sweet. The sweet buttercream frosting compliments it and you can truly taste the quality ingredients used in their cupcakes. The only downside is that these cupcakes need to be eaten with 24hrs, because it starts to taste kinda dry. I definitely recommend their Summer seasonal cake... and honestly this is the only reason I go to Susie's cakes, their berry cake is amazing... the rest of the cakes are WAAY too sweet (when it comes to the frosting and filling) I prefer my cakes light and well balanced with a moist cake. Another great experience with SusieCakes. I always go to SusieCakes when I have a special occasion. Due to COVID-19 they still have a limited number of stores open with pick up occurring 2 days a week. I ordered online and scheduled a Saturday pick up for a birthday cake. I like how I had the opportunity to add these gorgeous long stemmed silver caspari candles to my order. This time I tried the Studio City location. I still received the same great customer service that I always experience when I go to the other locations. The store is located on Ventura Boulevard which is always busy. However, I was able to find metered parking very close to the store. Upon arrival I found an orderly line of customers standing on spaces marked for social distancing. The line moved quickly and when it was my turn I was greeted by two associates. Each of them were wearing masks and had a table stationed right in the doorway to service customers. I gave them my name and they quickly located my order on a rack behind them, verified the details and I was finished in just a few minutes. We ate the cake the following day and it was left out at room temperature per the instructions on the box. When the cake was served we found it to moist, delicious, sweet and made with high quality ingredients. read more

I'm a little late writing this review but better late than never. This cake was AMAZING! In ever sense of the word. The staff was amazing and quick to respond to my emails about making this happen. They answered all of my questions, were extremely detailed in their descriptions of what to expect and offered perfect suggestions for the occasion. The hand piping on this cake was phenomenal. It was a smaller cake but the detail went way beyond expectation on duplicating a See's Candies box. All 60 guests were completely blown away and impressed by the skill that went into this cake. And not because externally it was perfect. It was delicious. And I don't know how the venue did it but they cut it so that everyone could taste it. My grandmother still brags about her See's cake. Thank you so so much for making this happen, not only for my grandmother in her 95th birthday but for all the friend and family who were able tot celebrate it with her. I was so impressed by everyone involved and was beyond satisfied. I told everyone I could about who made it. Words can't describe how great it felt to show it to her. I'll never forget that moment as long as I live. Thank you for that. And for the amazingly perfect cake that was more than I could have ever expected. read more

Food is great, but STAFF WAS INCREDIBLY RUDE. I came in (masked) to pick up an order and was SCREAMED AT from someone behind the counter about their capacity rules (which I respect, but was unaware of, as I didn't see any signage indicating how many people were allowed in). So I waited outside and re-entered when a customer came out (I couldn't see into the store, and therefore had no way of knowing how many people were still inside). I was then immediately screamed at AGAIN by another staff member and had to go outside yet again. When it was finally my turn, the woman who rang me up (who was also one of the people who screamed at me) was very short with me and just completely unprofessional. I'm all for respecting a store's policies, but don't scream at me for not magically knowing what those policies might be. I had originally planned to buy some additional cupcakes, but after the way I was treated, I just wanted to gtfo after grabbing my order. I've worked retail and I know how stressful it can be, especially now; but don't yell at customers and treat them like they've slapped you in the face when all they've done is walk into your store expecting to be treated like a human being. All I wanted for Valentine's Day was a REALLY GOOD piece of cake and SusieCakes did not disappoint!! My husband and I made a special trip to get a treat and came away with two pieces of cake and two cookies....yum!! I've been here many times over the past couple of years and have never been disappointed. Everyone in the shop is extremely friendly and always packages my carb goodies with the utmost care. I really appreciate the extra steps they take with their service. Everytime I've ordered a cake, the staff lets me know the best way to store and serve it, so that it tastes its prime. I've ordered a couple of custom birthday cakes here, which they've done a wonderful job accommodating. I've also gotten in the habit of bringing a seasonal cheesecake to family gatherings and it's always a hit. My grandmother now calls me to ask if I can bring the cake! I've had the sour creme, lemon and pumpkin varieties of their cheesecake; the flavor changes depending on the time of year, but I've yet to find something I didn't like. First and foremost - Jimmie & Tori made one of the most memorable nights possible after helping me plan a Gender Reveal for my husband in 4 HOURS! Miracle Workers! Our genetic results for our 2nd baby came in early afternoon Saturday. Before this my husband had repeated to me a MILLION times that he wanted to be surprised, ("find a way to surprise me, this is our last baby, blah blah blah"). You would think he was the one creating life...but I digress. So in a panic I called Susie Cakes to see if they could help me figure out a fun way to do a gender reveal on the fly because there was no way I could hold in this secret! I called Jimmie at Susie Cakes, made no sense for about 10 minutes while trying to explain my ideas and what resulted was just amazeballs. He had me order about a dozen cupcakes, all different flavors and kinds - and Susie Cakes would inject one with dark blue food coloring and place a sticker on the bottom (We are having a boy) so I would know which one held our secret surprise. It was ready in 3 hours - no problem. no extra charge. all smiles. When I picked it up Tori helped me check out and was so excited for me (we are complete strangers mind you) that I even got teared up (damn hormones). She even helped me add a few finishing touches. I wish I could link the video to this post to give credit to just how amazing Susie Cakes was because the end result was priceless. I ended up having each person in my family bite in to a cupcake and show everyone else , each person hoping they had the special one. Little did they know I held on to the special cupcake and had my daughter give it to Daddy once everyone had frosting all over their faces and were flipping out because they wanted to know. I will start by saying I am a very low carb eater with not much of a sweet tooth. With that being said, Susie Cakes has become a big problem for me. They simply have the best red velvet cake I have ever had in my life. I don't know how they get the cake so moist! I literally think about it all the time. I allow myself to have 1 slice a month. When I walk into the bakery I am hit in the face by the smell of butter (heaven) and it takes all of my strength to only order one thing. The staff is great and very pleasant (I mean, how could you not be in a place like that). Anyway, if you have not tried it, please do. It will change your life.
