Taco Beach Cantina is located in the Food Court of the Long Beach Airport. I decided to try this place as its a grab and go counter vs table service. There was a female with ultra long eyelashes working the counter, and while I was the next in line, it took over 5 minutes of standing there before she acknowledged that she would be with me shortly. I ordered the taco plate which includes two soft tacos, rice and beans. I had the choice of flour or corn tortillas, and I chose corn, which fell apart before I could even pick them up. Also, the "to go" box is super flimsy and probably would have fallen apart as well had I not thrown away the meal as quickly as I did. While there are choices of tortillas, salsa and beans, it was all pretty much thrown together and the service on this day was medicore at best. read more

*** Vegetarian Review *** Service - A+ / they allowed us to sub meat for rice and beans. Plus when she was adding the black beans, she spent the time to drain them first. Thanks for doing that! Food - B++ ... but so easily could be an A+ with 1 simple fix. Airport food can be hit or miss. Sacramento's Terminal B is a definite hit. Long Beach is mostly a miss because the following restaurants don't have true vegetarian items. Cantina no vegetarian items to stay for unless you like expensive nachos. Oddly enough, they are located right next to this place and it appears the food prep comes from here. Burger Bar has a vegetarian patty and a falafel burger, but other than the soft and delicious bun, I wouldn't recommend. The Boathouse Landing has zero options at the airport. They have a location outside that has a Beyond burger and asparagus sides, but not here. Which leaves me to The Taco Beach Cantina. Mexican food so you can basically make anything vegetarian. But they were nice enough to sub rice and beans for meat which really worked. Street Fries ($20.99, Grade B++) - Nacho cheese, Monterey cheddar shredded cheese, guacamole, pico de gallo, and sour cream. We subbed the meat for rice and beans. They freshly fry the French fries and use them as the bottom layer. Then start piling on all the above and to our surprise, even a generous scoop of guacamole. It was very hearty, filling for 2 people to share, and satisfying. So why the B++ grade? Here's a tip for my future visits and hopefully to help yours. Ask them to make the fries extra crispy. The fries were hot, but not crispy. Crispy would give this dish a great textural component and elevate it to a solid A+. Bottom line - very friendly and quick service when you need to catch a flight. There are tables in the area so you don't need to eat standing up. Price isn't bad for airport food, especially because you can share with your travel buddy. And trust us - nobody wants anyone traveling on a full bean belly. Haha read more

This place is located at the Long Beach airport and I got it because it seemed the quickest option. The menu is simple and there's only a handful of options to choose from. I went with the breakfast burrito which cakes with potatoes, eggs and cheese starting at $11.99. If you want additional protein added, like I did and got sausage, it's an additional $5.99. You can probably tell in the picture but the sausage was crunchy...? Not quite sure how that happens and I've never had anything like that before. The service was quick and friendly I have no complaints there. I don't think I will be trying this restaurant out again due to the crunchy sausage and lack of flavoring in the burrito as a whole. The girl who took my order and wrapped my burrito was very nice. The only thing that I'd recommend is for them to wrap it in foil. I ordered the breakfast tacos because they sounded most manageable before my short flight. For $9.49, you get 2 breakfast tacos - scrambled eggs, cheese, your choice of protein (chorizo for me) on either flour or corn tortillas. These were pretty good - comparable to something you'd make at home. I thought the chorizo was a tad too salty for my liking, but otherwise, this was a solid way to start the morning. They, of course, offer regular Mexican fare when it's not breakfast time. They also offer alcoholic beverages next door. Just a regular ole cantina at the airport. read more

For certain the worst airport food experience, ever..and that's for an airport food! Laughable, even. Gross chips, salsa was bland, no salt or spice, queso was concession nacho cheese!!. Baja style tacos didn't have any of the correct ingredients or sauce and meat didn't have any salt or other seasoning. Luckily, it was expensive. We ordered two margaritas to sit in the cantina to eat this monstrosity of a meal and at $20 each, they weren't even drinkable. Please, for all that is holy- eat before you come to the LGB airport. Breakfast tacos are not good here. It would not take much effort to elevate the game. The scrambled eggs did not taste like they were seasoned before cooking. The corn tortillas were just heated on the griddle without any oil. That dries them out and when I got my breakfast tacos, the tortillas fell apart. I guess that's why they give you a fork with the tortillas. Here is my Gordan Ramsey advice to help improve the customer experience. Season the eggs before you scramble them. And warm up the corn tortillas by misting them with oil first. That will make them more pliable, bring out the corn taste, and elevate the taste experience. read more

They were haphazardly assembled in front of us. Also, $12 (the list price at the time we went) gets you just chips, beans, shredded cheese, and some pico di gallo. Everything else (meat, guac, quest, etc.) costs extra. At the time we went, there was only one staff manning the station, so the same person was taking the order, preparing the food, and taking payment, which meant the line took forever to move. ***DON'T GET RIPPED OFF*** I am not nearly as happy as I should be after consuming a $30 burrito. Especially because I feel like I just got scammed...and then got a cheesy subpar burrito to show for it. This is one of those factory line burrito places where you walk through and point out what you want on your burrito. The $12 listed on the menu as the burrito price seemed reasonable. When I selected my burrito toppings, at no point did they mention that there would be an additional charge for the item, which is customary at similar style restaurants. That's likely because there is an up charge for EVERY.SINGLE.THING that you choose to put in your burrito. Also, they wouldn't do half and half steak and chicken. No reason why - the lady just said she wasn't allowed to. I should have recognized the red flag at that point and walked away. I get that this is a restaurant in an airport, but this was unbelievable. I haven't even started my trip yet and I feel like I got travel scammed :( read more
