Definitely pleasantly surprised to find such a tasty neighborhood pizza joint. The East San Antonio neighborhood is in the early stages of gentrification, so Tank's is across a pawn shop and a vacant lot. Looks aren't much to go by here. I picked up a medium The Works and split it with my bf. We were both full with a few slices to spare. The pizza had a great crisp and chewy crust. There aren't a ton of toppings but it was simply good. If definitely pick Tank's for an easy tasty meal. read more

The food is amazing! We got a personal pizza, a medium pizza and a calzone. All of them were delicious. My two kiddos (5&7) shared a personal pizza and ate most of it. Honestly perfect size for two small children. The calzone and other pizza were delicious. And, It's so close to Fort Sam so the location is awesome as well. read more

I was a little disappointed that the restaurant was not very wheelchair accessible and parking was a challenge. We started with cheese sticks which were your average Sysco frozen stick cooked properly and well seasoned with some additional Parmesan. They were hot and tasty with the ranch we requested. We ordered a large pepperoni pizza with extra cheese. It was hot when it arrived with a toasty crust and ample toppings. The cheese was sparse (considering we ordered extra) and the toppings seemed overcooked. The sodas were a little off as well. The waitress was by far the best thing at the restaurant as she was polite and peppy with a great laugh. It was an average pie and experience. read more

Let me start by saying our family loves pizza and we've tried a variety of places in search of awesome pizza. Tank's is one of the best pizzas we've eaten in SA. Crispy bottom crust and really delicious sauce and cheese. And, the wings! Wow, the wings! We had original buffalo and they were sooooo delicious. The pizza is perfect every time! Every bite is tasty, you'll eat it all! They'll be 0 leftovers! Lets talk about the wait. It isn't long whatsoever. I always wait less then 25 minites for 2 large pizzas! Call and order ahead. By the time you get there and pay your pizza will be fresh out of the oven! Despite all the construction going on around the area. I highly recommend you stop in. The staff was friendly and very knowledgeable of the menu. The hot wings came out crispy with the right amount of sauce. I also tired their new gorilla drink. Titos and kool aid, most definitely refreshing. I do recommend it. I heard about this place, I've drove by several times in the past and never stop by but today I actually order a pizza from there wonder how good it could be. Well I order it to go, once I got home I took a bite of my first slice from Tanks's Pizza and I must say it was delicious. Cook just right, not greasy like some other pizza places. So glad we decided to give this place a chance. We ordered the all the meats pizza and a meat ball sub. They were so good. Pizza was AMAZING!! Crust was this and chrispy so good. Deff a good little pizza place. We were there before the dinner rush and it we still had a little bit of a wait for the food and service but it looked like only 1 or 2 people were working the floor so we understood. Dont know if they have something against Hispanic people here at tanks but I can see the difference in treatment but Ambiance was nice and casual and the food was great the stuff crust was on point but the staff service was not good we got there at 6pm and no one took our orders but one Hispanic, guy cleaned the table pretty quick and welcomed us so then I walked up to places the orders the guy up there apologize that he didn't go get our order from us and said he would hook us up with free dessert for the inconvenience I was like it sounds great so he got my drinks and he said he'll take them to us so I sat down 5min later no drink so I started to get my drink two at time then he said no I got you and took the last 4 drinks after that we wait and wait for the food and that free dessert 6:45 nothing then 7:20 and nothing still and the place is not packed and they are getting a bunch of pizzas out the doors to go and the other waitress was on point with her table but no Hispanic People were at those tables so don't know why our order was taken so long besides the obvious so 7:32 we get our food but no free dessert so it's really bad service and I think he was the owner or manager just watching the game instead of catering to us this is the third time here and after the first time it keeps getting worse here and parking is bad and not enough for the place I would not recommend the restaurant at all anymore especially if you're Hispanic or Mexican read more

First time going months ago and the pizza was good, they messed our order up but corrected and gave us a free dessert. We went again and the ordered medium double pepperoni, it was cold and had about 2 pepperonis on each slice. Me and my husband said we were done going but last night around 8:45 we went and placed an order for medium double pepperoni, waited almost an hour for the pizza, my husband almost witnessed a fight inside, then finally got our pizza. I haven't eaten yet but the food I saw being served looked delicious. The atmosphere is a chill and family atmosphere. Very clean and staff is polite and on point. Mr. Brown Jr. was working the register and did an excellent job. Despite the construction on the road it was relatively easy to park and leave. The outdoor patio is beautifully maintained. Ordered via GrubHub. I had heard about this place for a long time but not particularly interested in driving there. Since it was my first time, I ordered just the basic cheese. I also requested and paid for two sides of marinara, but I got one side of marinara and one side of ranch (which I do not ever like). That kinda pissed me off. Wow! I really liked this pizza. The crust, the sauce, the cheese. All three are good. I will definitelty order again, next time trying the pepperoni and veggie. I woke up and my wife asked me where I wanted to eat. I said Tank's Pizza. I do love the pizza there, and the wings are next level. I really wanted the wings. We live in Houston, so we had to drive over 3 hours to get there, but those wings are worth it. When we arrived, we were greeted by a very courteous gentleman who handed us menus and told us to sit wherever we wanted. About 10 minutes after we sat down, another couple came in. Then about 5 minutes later, a man who was alone came in. Then a woman who was also alone came in. The waitress looked directly at me as she took the couples order before mine. Then she did it again as she took the man's order. And again when she took the woman's order. We were there for almost a half hour before I finally gave up and we left. I am a big supporter of black owned businesses, but I am not black. The waitress prioritized the black customers and her eye contact and facial expression told me that it was definitely on purpose. The crazy thing is, the waitress was Hispanic. So am I. So I'm not sure what her issue was. She clearly had a problem with me and my wife. My wife is very attractive and the waitress was absolutely not attractive at all, so maybe that was the issue? Or maybe she is one of those self-loathing Hispanics. I really don't know. All I do know is that she intentionally did NOT wait on us. It's a shame because I love the food at Tank's but I will not be back. The worst part is, my wife and I are very affluent, so the waitress missed out on a very large tip because of her personal issues. Anyway, if you are not black, or if you are an attractive Hispanic female, you may want to skip this place until they get rid of that terrible waitress. If you work at Tank's and you happen to see this, let me know when you get rid of that waitress because I won't be back until she's gone. TLDR: Great food. Terrible service. read more

I can not remember the last time I wrote a review. It's been that long. But after having Tank's for the first time, I was compelled to come out of retirement. We had a large pepperoni pizza, a personal calzone, and lemon pepper wings. The pizza was great. My kids and husband loved it, but the highlights for me were the wings and calzone. OH MY GOD! Talk about flavor!!! The wings are phenomenal! Crispy, full of flavor, and juicy. Now, I normally prefer stromboli over calzones, but Tank's is one of the best calzones I have ever had, hands down! The pizza and wings at Tanks are, in my opinion the best you will find in San Antonio. Two years ago we used them for our Family reunion picnic at Hemisphere park. Felt like pizza for dinner. We tried Deco Pizza that is on New Braunfels too. It. Was. Awful. Wanting to support local business I was racking my brain and remembered seeing Tanks not to far away while driving by so decided to try them. I can't wait to get back here. We came over right after the snow melted so they were still dealing with a few challenges like busted pipes and the inability to use the water from the tap but they STILL knocked it out of the park. First off, this is such a warm and friendly place, you feel like an old friend very quickly. They obviously have their regulars because the staff and owner were chatting it up with everyone that walked in the door. We had the wings, pizza and cheese bread. Not sure what goes into these recipes but LOVE is the number one ingredient. You can really tell they care about the food they are serving. We had a margarita pizza with white sauce and it's probably the best one I've had here in San Antonio. I KNOW they are putting something extra in the dough because it the most flavorful crust I've ever had. The flatbread (cheesy bread) was similar in that way. Then there were the wings.... perfect. Great flavor and perfectly crispy skin. The waiter told us that they bake the wings before frying them. If I could give an extra star, I would for their love of their community. We ended up here after a write up in a local publication which focused on the owners love of his community and how he gives back. We mentioned this and he went on and on about how much his neighborhood and community mean to him. This place is just across the bridge from Ft. Sam so this would be a great lunch spot.
