Tantalum is located right on the waterfront in Long Beach! The restaurant is in the Marina Pacifica shopping plaza, so there's a decent amount of parking. The lot also has an underground parking structure for additional parking. I came here for an event, and we were led to a private banquet room. It was a little warm inside, but we had a nice view of the water and seeing stand up paddle boarders/kayakers go by. Our table was provided with some shared appetizers including the Brunch-etta, Chicken Lettuce Wraps, and Heirloom Tomato Salad. The Brunch-etta had mixed berries, mascarpone cheese, and honey drizzle on sourdough crostinis. The Chicken Lettuce Wraps came with crushed peanuts, carrots, cilantro, and butter lettuce cups with two dipping sauces. It was served deconstructed as a build-your-own style. The Heirloom Tomato Salad had fresh mozzarella, heirloom tomatoes, Thai basil, garlic, and balsamic, topped with microgreens. Nice and refreshing! For my entree, I got the Asian Chicken Greens Salad that came with baby greens, mango, cucumber, red pepper, shaved onion, crispy wonton, and a miso dressing. Unfortunately, the chicken was dry and the salad had very little dressing. I also tried some of the Kobe Brunch Burger. This was much better than the salad in my opinion. It had butter lettuce, fontina cheese, avocado, tobacco onions, garlic aioli, fried egg, and apple bacon on a brioche bun with a side of herbed fries. Definitely a heartier dish! For dessert, I had the Pavlova Duo. It comes with two baked meringues, coconut and mango sorbet, passionfruit and some other berry sauce drizzle, and fresh strawberries and blackberries. This was yummy! For drinks, the Strawberry Fields cocktail can be made into a mocktail. They also have a couple of other non-alcoholic drinks available that aren't on the menu. Just ask your server!

Great view. Service is the worst though we still tipped. When Erma took a break, her relief came to the table once during her 30 minute break....I forgot to mention a couple got up and walked out after not being waited on.

The view here is definitely the highlight beautiful waterfront scenery and such a relaxing spot. Service was wonderful friendly, attentive, and really made the experience better. Food was a bit hit or miss. The calamari was good and nicely cooked, and the Pad Thai had decent flavor, but something about the taste felt a bit off. Dessert wasn't our favorite either. Overall, great ambiance and service, but the food could be more consistent.

I have been to Tantalum in LBC many times, but its been a while. I can't believe I haven't reviewed it until now. The most recent visit was to meet some biz associates to enjoy entrees & apps. We shared calamari ($24), mussels ($23), fried rice ($30), fries ($7), and a couple of 18 oz bone-in ribeyes ($68/each) [sorry, not all items puctured]. My crew of five (including me), liked the calamari and steak & fries. The calamari was tender, the steaks were grilled medium rare, and the fries were GBD. However, the shrimp in the rice and the mussels were not fresh. Luckily, no one got sick later. Regarding the ambiance, its spacious in here. However, the amount of people seemed light on a Fri night around 6-7 pm. Our waiter Jason and the rest of the team were super nice & attentive. We received fresh plates and steak knives (we ordered a second steak later during the meal). I'd return for a good time w/ a large group. The place accommodates big parties well, and the service is really good. Nonetheless, keep in mind the food is hit & miss, and the prices are on the high side.

Food: 7/10 Service: 7/10 Ambiance: 10/10 When I walked in the luxurious, verdant entrance of Tantalum lines with tropical plants and and sultry design elements, I thought, "SURELY the reviews are wrong! This looks like a solid fine dining establishment." I continued to be impressed as walked through the foyer and was greeted by a friendly hostess and elegant live jazz music. If my experience ended there, this would have easily been a five star visit. Unfortunately things went downhill. We've received a writer who had the most nonchalant cold demeanor I've encountered by White staff in a long time. I feel like he would be a better fit at a more high-end pretentious restaurant. He definitely didn't make me feel comfortable or valued. The food was good but not impressive, I'm afraid. It didn't taste authentic or unique. We ordered the ceviche, Miso caramelized mahi-mahi, and yakiniku calamari. The ladder was easily the best dish of the bunch, but it also reminds me of orange chicken squid. I love the flavor and the texture though! I plan to return for happy hour to see if I can appreciate the food more when I don't have to pay full price. I think the food is a Todd overprice for the quality they offer. We'll report back after my second visit.

We recently visited to celebrate a birthday, and while the ambiance and waterfront views are absolutely gorgeous, the overall evening fell flat for us. Our main letdown was the service rhythm. After the host seated us and brought us water, we sat for at least 10 minutes and no one greeted us. I finally flagged a server down and then our server came over. When the server did arrive, they thanked us for waiting but didn't really offer an apology for the delay, and the service for the rest of the night just felt very basic, impersonal, and transactional. The host had noted the birthday at check-in, but it wasn't mentioned again by our server, which was a little disappointing for a celebration. I have worked in the service industry and even when I waitressed at a pub, we were trained to greet tables within two minutes, even if just to pop in to say hello and tell them we'd be right over. As for the food and drinks, everything was decent but didn't quite hit that standout mark we were hoping for at their price point. The fried brie with peach chutney was tasty, but just a standard good appetizer, didn't have enough chutney on top, and was served with what tasted like stale bread pieces. I was really excited to try the famous miso Mahi Mahi, and while there was nothing overtly wrong with it, it was just okay; the potatoes paired with it felt like a choice that was too heavy for the flavor of mahi mahi and made the dish feel one-note. My husband got the burger and was very underwhelmed and said he's had better burgers at much more affordable venues. My Tahitian cocktail was just okay, though my husband really loved a virgin coconut drink he ordered. I can't remember the exact name, but it was delicious. It's such a beautiful space, but after paying the $150 bill + tip, we left feeling like we should have chosen somewhere else to have celebrated. It seems they rely too heavily on their prime location and aesthetic rather than focusing on attentive service and memorable food. After sharing this in a local food group I learned that pretty much everyone who commented feels this way now about Tantalum. I guess there is new management and there are also a lot of stories of poor management, high server turnover and abuse of servers by the chef, so I will definitely not go there again.

Honestly this place gets 5 stars for location and music alone. And there food is really very tastey. From oysters to Buddha rice, the reviews are proof that it's all savory. I've been coming here for years and the establishment is starting to falter due to service. The tips must be good judging by the average cost per table, so I'm not sure why the service is becoming soo bad. It is slow, no bussing, and not very inviting. Basically a bunch of young workers stand around while you try to grab there attention. I will continue to dine here as it has an amazing date night ambience, great food, water front location, and decent drinks. However I plea with management, please watch over your servers and hosts a bit better. Slight caviette, the bussers are doing a great job.

Was meeting some friend for brunch, and had never been to Tantalum. Vibe looked great in photos, so made a reservation and to Long Beach we went! Walking in to the restaurant, just a great marina/tropical/tiki style vibe, which continues into the restaurant with views of the marina. Started with drinks in which we grabbed a couple cocktails asking with a bottle of champagne to make mimosas. Fit cocktails, the Tahitian Sunset is very flavorful but not on the alcohol level. The Asian Pear is strong, very spirit forward but you get that forgot of pear. The Bali Dream gives you a hint of banana and coconut while the Mai Tai was very good. For food, we started with the beef & chips and the calamari. The calamari comes glazed topped with sesame seeds and toasted cashews. Very good. The beef and chips is short rib sitting on a bed of duck fat fries with a white truffle cheddar sauce. You can never go wrong with duck fat fries and the short rib was cooked well. For entrees, we tried a few items. The scallops were decent though they did seen slightly overcooked. The Ulu Watu is udon noodles with sliced filet. Meat was cooked well but it felt like something was missing with the dish to really bring it all together. The bearded sorry rub was cooked well and it comes with two eggs cooked the style of your coffee. The Kobe brunch Burger is loaded with apple bacon, avocado, egg, fontina cheese and garlic aioli. You really get a taste of everything in each bite and it comes together perfectly. Overall, a restaurant with great vibes, solid cocktails and quality food. If you're on the area for brunch or lunch, probably even dinner, and want something with ambiance, so by Tantalum

Came here for my birthday and wanted to try something different, so we picked this Asian fusion spot. The atmosphere is definitely the highlight; right by the water with stunning sunset views that make the whole experience feel special and aesthetic. The food and drinks were okay, not bad but nothing particularly memorable. Service was good and the staff took care of us throughout the visit, which I appreciated. I'd still recommend coming by, especially around sunset for the vibe alone;but overall, it didn't quite stand out enough for me to return. VERDICT: I WILL NOT COME BACK

I've been noticing this restaurant tucked away in the corner and decided to give it a try. The ambience in the dining area leading out to outside seating is aesthetically pleasing. we were seated immediately. Our waitress came up right away and we placed our orders. I'll do a fancy Cadillac margarita which I forgot to take pictures of however, it was not it as I watched them make our drinks. It seemed like it was more sweet and sour than the actual contents of the drink itself however, once the waitress knew that I wasn't a big fan of the drink, she opted to correct immediately. Proportion are slightly on the smaller side and you're better off starting with appetizers because once your main course arrives, you will still find yourself hungry the steak salmon the mashed potatoes and asparagus was pretty good unfortunately they are unable to add chives and shredded cheese to the mashed potatoes. However, you just make it work with what they have. Right around six.. I could be wrong.. a 3 person band showed up and was singing different melodies so that was quite nice to add to the picturesque environment.

Completely underwhelming. Had high hopes for this place, atmosphere and view was lovely, service fair enough but the food was not seasoned and I actually threw my left overs away because even after going home and adding some seasons it still was just not great....and for 150.00 for three dishes and two iced teas??? No thanks, I won't be coming back. So disappointing. I had the pad thai dish not to mention the shrimp are ridiculously small and again not good the few that were in the dish, the other dishes were the buhdda rice and I didn't personally eat that so I can't say. My other two guests didn't eat much of it though so it couldn't have been amazing and well it's just rice. So let's hope it's alright for 30 something dollars. Also when we arrived at 4 pm on Monday it was completely dead, that should have been a giveaway. I saw many other bad reviews being left the same day I visited in fact! I wish I would have read more of the reviews, a lot of them are echoing the same issues. I saw a few good ones and decided to just try it myself. Again it's a complete let down, I wouldn't go here again even if it was free.

Nice location bear the water with free parking. You can watch the boats go by if you sit outside. They have umbrellas so it was nice and breezy to sit outside. Food is average but over priced. It seems the prices went up $10 to $20 per dish in the last few years. My friend & i ordered a wedge salad, brussel sprouts, calamari, & hummus with pita bread. The total after tax and tip was over $100. Too pricey for a light brunch for two people. Wait staff was friendly as well as the receptionists.

    What time is happy hour?

Happy hour is 3pm to 6pm Tuesday through Friday

How's is parking? Do I need reservation? Do they have a music band on Sundays?

Parking is abundant here in the Marina. Sundays tend to be rather busy here in the plaza so the earlier you arrive the better chances of parking up close. Reservations are always encouraged as we gladly accept walk ins. Our musical guests typically…

    Do they allow big groups?

Yes they do big groups and private parties. The restaurant interior is pretty large. They do limit party size out on the patio, but not inside.

Are the chicken lollipops back yet? If the owners sees this question please know I would visit your restaurant every single time I was in LB just for those appetizers. Please bring them back.

I see it on the brunch menu for $22! Yay I hope this helps.

    Is brunch served daily?

Every Saturday and Sunday from 11am- 2:00.

Do they offer the regular lunch menu after "brunch" hours on the weekends? Or does it switch to the dinner menu?

    Switches to dinner menu.

Are dogs allowed in the outside seating?

I'm sure registered service animals are welcome but I have never seen any dogs outside.

They used to. Not very big boats though. It was Duffy parking. Call them and ask if it is still available.

    Can we bring our dog?

    No dogs allowed

    Is proof of vaccination required?

From my experience, it was not.

Is Sunday Brunch still going on? If so, from what time to what time?

You're telling me dozens of people are stuck waiting forever while there's plenty of room inside? It's giving manufactured crowd and poor management. To make it worse, they stopped serving drinks and turned the lights on at 1:15 AM, way earlier than literally any normal bar. So after wasting hours in line, you barely even get time inside. And it somehow gets worse -- at 1:35 AM they were literally kicking people out of the restroom. We weren't even allowed to finish or wash our hands before being rushed out. That's not just rude, it's straight up unhygienic and disrespectful. Overall, completely overhyped, disorganized, and not worth the wait at all. Don't fall for the line -- it's fake.

Parking though was a nightmare. I only realized when paying the bill that the two establishments are one and the same, and I could have very likely parked in the designated spots for El Barrio customers. The whole bar is a mood - lighting is dim and you don't get to see much beyond your table, which is good for those seeking privacy. One thing to note is that because the dining space is so small and intimate, it does get quite loud. The appetizers we tried were all good, with izakaya flare as promised. The charred edamame was extremely addicting, smothered in garlic soy and just the right amount of spicy from chili arbor. The Okonomi corn dog was a clever spin on okonomiyaki, bonito flakes and all. Finally, both the Yuzu and Wagyu rolls were fresh and perfect size bites of their respective fishes. I wish I could have sampled their entire cocktail menu! All the drinks sounded novel and unique, and featured their specially cut crystal clear ice. My Yuzu Strawberry blended the smokiness of the mezcal with the tangy sweetness from yuzu and strawberry perfectly. And the Peated Highball I ordered as my nightcap has to be my new favorite drink, adding a boldness to the Japanese cocktail staple. Only reason I took a star off my review was the abrupt service. Our waitress was not subtle about needing our table for the next reservation, asking to clear our plates when there was still food on it, and closing our check early to the point that the bartender had to come and charge us again for our last drink. Despite that, still strongly suggest checking out Tokyo Noir. Long Beach sadly doesn't have many speakeasies, but the ones that are here are at the top of their game.

Very seldomly do you have a business owner care about their brand, open to constructive feedback with the willingness to implement change that leads to a positive outcome. Angel's Share will be introducing a soft launch of new appetizers and I believe drinks! Not too busy of a night until deep into the evening where the crowd picked up and dishes were flowing out the kitchen. Cajun shrimp was extremely flavorful with the spinach in the middle. I suggest adding a hint more of garlic to wake up the spinach melody. Keep in mind we had no clue that the spinach was to added on top of the Shrimp similar to a one biter. Either way... it was Fire! The garlic bread was pretty good. Needed a pinch more of garlic salt and a minute longer in the salamander oven! The Cajun pasta needed a hint more of Cajun seasoning. If it's in the cards you could even elevate the dish by adding 1 Cajun shrimp on the top or spoon full of crawfish tossed in Cajun seasonings and butter! Also wake up your base with heavy cream to make the sauce dance on all the noodles. Now keep in mind there's a lot of of us who think that we're top chefs or we all like things a certain way but what I do know is that the pasta once it gets perfected I know for sure it will be a hit. I'll be back for the soft launch of the new menu and appetizers. Again, thank you for extending the invite Jack.

Plates that were mid - burrata bowl, wagyu empanadas Plates you should try - paella negra, crab croquetas, churros Everything else could go either way. The paella was a hit - delicious prawns and crispy rice stuck to the bottom of the pan. Everything was great to share and there's a very lively atmosphere inside.

It was really warm where we were sat (the front covered patio), our server showed up 20 minutes later and our orders hit the table another 30 minutes later. That's billion lightyears for two starving folks. Our menu included tapas (Jamon iberico, potatoes, bread with tomate, fish tacos, meat empanada), your choice of paella (we got two medium sized, the negra and the pork) and a dessert. Overall food is ok/average. It wasn't bad but it was just ordinary. I was expecting a burst of flavors. It did not meet my expectations in that regard. I think the taste was ordinary and something I can get in a hole-a-wall or prepared at home. Now the paella, that was beyond disappointing. Both our paella was more than al-dente. I'm wondering if they're more used to preparing the larger paella and need to work on nailing ratio/cook time for a smaller one. It was definitely leaning hard/undercooked and slightly chalky. That tells you it's not cooked through and probably needed more liquid. Flavor was also muted. The dessert also had plenty of potential. I think they nailed that French toast as far as texture and mouthfeel, however, again I think it could have been dressed with something more extraordinary and unique. Overall, it was like having simple homemade dishes prepared nicely and presented in a modern classy vibe. The ambience is great, it's bustling with people and good energy. It's clean and staff is friendly.
