One piece of spicy bluefin roll
    Natalie N.

Quaint charm and wonderful service. The fish was fresh. Music not insanely loud to the point you're yelling back and forth to keep a conversation. Sunday evening and it was a full house so we sat at the bar in front of the chef. All whom are extremely attentive and friendly. We ordered two orders of each; spicy bluefin tuna roll, crunchy spicy tuna roll, and bluefin nigiri (which I did not get a picture of because it was instantly in my mouth when placed in-front of me lol)

Dinner combo- sesame chicken and sushi, includes rice and salad.

The food at Tashiro is always excellent. It's a local established restaurant located in a small strip mall with lots of good parking. It's right across the street from the Terrace Theaters so it's a good pre-show spot. Sometimes there's a wait but 6 pm is generally a good time. They have a very active sushi bar which has a fair amount of seats. Give it a try.

All around, sushi was good, and seemed to be Japanese ran which was a surprise, and that is good! Service was very good! Ambiance was kinda cute, nothing great, but okay. It is close by, so we will go again.

Adorable restaurant with delicious sushi! I dined with a friend, and was pleasantly greeted and sat by our server, who was helpful with my questions about the menu. The ambiance is very casual. You can sit in a standard table or you can sit in front of the chefs as they prepare the sushi. The layout is quaint and lovely. I started off with shrimp tempura and miso soup, which were great! For my entrees, I got the spicy shrimp sushi and the bakes crab roll. All of the seafood tasted extremely fresh and each bite was delicious. My friend ordered a deluxe sushi plate, which featured an assortment of raw fish and vegetables. Since we were sharing, I tried the salmon and tune, which were amazing! I definitely recommend this adorable restaurant, and hope to return in the near future!

Seriously outdated prices on their website. Restaurants need to make even a little effort to keep websites fresh. I chose to visit because prices seemed reasonable. The Sushi Deluxe on the website was listed at $15.95. Actually price upon arrival was $24.95. Sushi was mediocre. Maybe it was an off night but fix your damn website.

Nice little neighborhood sushi place. Looks authentic. Hard to find a menu newer than 3 years on yelp so I'm posting pictuees of it.

Outstanding! Food was a perfect combination of simple, traditional, fresh Japanese with some Americanized options, but not overkill with everything covered in mayo. Amazing service. We could not believe how friendly, calm, and expedient our waitress was, especially since every table was full. Very kid friendly, but not a deafening noise level of ambience. Unlike some of the other reviews, we were amazed at the price. Easily 30% less than we would have paid at the places we go to in Redondo or on the hill. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. We will certainly be back!

Ambiance: traditional Japanese restaurant in business over decades, a hidden gem in the area, currently open for indoor dining with social distance, three tables setup for outdoor dining as well, ample parking in the plaza Service: both waitresses served the table were so friendly and patient with questions, refilled water tentatively and cleaned the table adequately, and they definitely deserved a big tip Food & Drink: plenty regular menu items and specials off the menu available upon request, the combo sets have the best values and you won't be disappointed for the variety, they use good quality wasabi and the cutting of raw fish is just right Seaweed Salad - *** Seasoned wakame seaweed, complementary mini salad with cucumber Miso Soup - **** well cooked, taste ok, recommend House Salad - *** Green salad w/ house dressing, lettuce and shredded purple cabbage, carrot and red ginger Tempura Assortment - **** Deep fried battered shrimps & vegetables, so crispy and crunchy, and tasted with dipping sauce, recommend Sashimi - **** 2Pcs tuna, 2pcs salmon, 2pcs albacore, so fresh, recommend Nigiri Special - ***** 10 pcs different kinds of cooked or raw fish, tuna, salmon, albacore, scallop, shrimp, unagi, yellowtail, mackerel, snapper, salmon roe, so fresh and tasty, highly recommend Hot Tea - *** bold matcha taste Price: moderate portions, decent quality and reasonable prices, about $30 per person for a fulfilling meal

Pleasant surprise. Was looking for a sushi spot that definitely offered sashimi (avoiding rice for keto) and decided to try this place. Best decision ever! Each sashimi piece was fresh and enjoyable. My partner enjoyed the rolls ordered as well. Service was superb and parking was not an issue. I know I'll be coming back frequently!

As you enter and are seated you're transported to a yakitori bar filled with the smells of charcoal and a vivacious ambiance. If you are not a selective eater, I highly recommend trying every skewer they have! My friend and I ordered the pork belly, chicken meatball, quail egg, chicken thigh with green onion, fried tofu, zucchini, fried onigiri (grilled rice ball), and the potato (with butter). There were also specials off menu - we tried the chicken sasami which was incredibly tender. All the skewers were seasoned so well and the charcoal made a huge difference in the experience. We did pair our proteins with the onigiri and potato which filled us up. There were condiments to complement the skewers - Japanese spice powder, yuzu kosho, vinegar, and soy sauce. I pretty much had the yuzu kosho with everything. I'm not sure if there was something wrong with their AC, but it was quite hot in there! Today we decided to revisit the restaurant for old time's sake. Inside, the main wall was repainted with a new mural. The annual LA Marathon posters, pinned by the staff who participated in the events, were also gone. Nonetheless, it retained its traditional izakaya décor with its counter seating alongside some regular tables. The staff were all new but still very courteous and brought the menu and water right away. New items were added but the core dishes remained the same. For this visit, we ordered our regular items and they arrived in 10 minutes: Eboshi Mini Trio with Shio Ramen, Fried Rice and Gyoza: The fried rice was still top notch, with slightly firm texture, not too oily, and pleasantly seasoned. The Shio Ramen with its clear broth was nicely savory. The thin noodles were cooked perfectly, and the chashu pieces were tender. To complement the set, the gyozas with their delicate wraps had nicely burnt bottoms, and flavorful fillings. Champon Ramen: A complex ramen with an assortment of meat, veggies and seafood. There were sliced pork pieces, shrimps, squids, cabbage, onions, snow peas and many more. The clear broth was quite savory and enriched by oil from sauteed ingredients. The noodles had a very nice texture and were a tad al dente. We were amazed that after all these years, the restaurant retained its original taste and flavor. We found out the reason why while exiting the restaurant: The young cook from two decades ago is now running the open kitchen as head chef. Great food and still reasonable prices. The dining room is relatively small, with roughly 10 to 15 tables, and the two employees working the floor were hustling all evening and did a genuinely nice job taking care of everyone. The food itself was solid. The standout dish of the night was actually the grilled asparagus, which came with a soy-based preparation that was absolutely outstanding, perfectly tender and cooked just right. The wedge salad was also very good, and both the 16oz ribeye@$86, and the 8oz filet mignon @$76 were well prepared and enjoyable. Where things became more complicated for me was the overall value proposition. The prices are undeniably steep, especially for Lomita. Whenever I dine somewhere upscale, I inevitably ask myself whether, for the same money, I would have rather gone somewhere else. In this case, the answer was yes. I was also a bit disappointed to discover that there is no full bar. The restaurant seems to steer guests toward wine and sake, with only a handful of beer options available. Unfortunately, the first two beers I ordered, an IPA and then a Modelo, both on the menu, both out of stock, which certainly didn't help my overall impression. The dining room itself felt somewhat drab, all black walls, and lacked the refinement that I would expect at this price point. Dark walls and a crystal chandelier create an interesting contrast, but small details stood out for the wrong reasons. For example, I noticed exposed holes in the bar where a purse hook or latch had apparently been relocated. It may seem minor, but details like that matter when you're charging premium prices. At the end of the night, my wife and I walked out more than $300 lighter. While the food was undeniably good and the service was attentive, the experience simply didn't feel like a $300 evening to us. Overall, The Food Library delivers quality food and hardworking service, but for the price, I left wishing the atmosphere and overall experience matched the bill a bit more closely.

We walked in right on time for our reservation (because we're adults who respect the space-time continuum) and were ushered into a booth with "privatey" curtains. I'm not saying they'd hide you from the FBI, but they certainly provided enough cover for us to giggle and navigate stupidly through the menu. You can also order directly to a friendly human too. The atmosphere is colorful, lively, unstuffy, and private enough to enjoy good convo but not awko quiet. You order everything via an iPad, which is dangerous because when pictures of gyoza are staring you in the face, your impulse control vanishes. We ordered "a little bit of everything," which is code for "the table was structurally compromised by the weight of our dinner." * The Highlights: The pickled cucumbers (crisp enough to hear in the next county), the pork bowl, and sushi that actually tasted like it came from the ocean. The Fluids: Cold Asahi and Lemon Chu-His. Highly recommended if you enjoy being happy.
