    Beef Pan Fried Udon Noodle

Tasty Choice is a comfortable local spot for Hong Kong cafe style food. One of the biggest perks is that they're open until 2 AM, making it a great option for late night meals. The dishes do lean on the saltier side, so I would recommend asking for lighter seasoning if possible or pairing everything with plenty of rice. Prices are about what you would expect from a Hong Kong cafe, making it a solid value overall. The staff are respectful and attentive, which always makes the experience more enjoyable. If you're looking for a reliable local spot for Hong Kong style comfort food, Tasty Choice is definitely worth checking out.

This is a solid spot for HK cafe-style food. They're even open late nights. Prices are ok. When I was last here in March 2026, it looks like they updated their menus. The menus looked newer and cleaner. My go-tos here are baked pork chop in tomato sauce and chow mein. They don't have a "house special" chow mein, but the beef one is good. I also liked the beef and egg over rice. Service is good. I had servers who spoke Mandarin, Cantonese, and English! Credit card accepted Bathroom available (no James Wang iykyk)

This is one of my favorite HK style restaurants in San Gabriel. I have been visited this place for past few years. Food quality generally is pretty decent. Half of the seats are indoor and other half are outdoor patio. Dining room is not spacious so this is not for large group of people Plenty of people come here for lunch and dinner every day. They close at 2am so if you are looking for late night dinner, this is a good choice.

On a Sunday morning in February, my family and I had breakfast there at 9:20am. Some of the tables was occupied by regulars eating there, we got seated right away and noticed the decor is brighter with paint job or extra lighting, There was 2 servers taking orders, serving food, clearing tables, refill on teas. We ordered won ton noodles with lemon tea, century egg congee with soy sauce chow fun and coffee, chicken steak and eggs with macaroni soup and lemon tea. Each plate came out one at a time. My wonton noodles soup has 3 gai lan, 5 pieces of big won tons and standard noodles. The chow fun had good wok her and congee was thicker and yummy. We had our ice lemon tea refilled 3x which was great. Overall I had a good time eating and watching tvb -hong kong channel. There was plenty of parking. outside. Next time I want to try their lunch or dinner.

Looking for 下午茶 (Afternoon Tea) deal slap? Come to Tasty Choice. It was perfect for a late lunch. I got the beef satey ramen and the beef was so tender! They have great seatings and nice staff! Definitely going back.

This place has been around for years, but more recently we have been coming here more often. It's definitely a more Western take on Cantonese cuisine, but I love that their reasonably priced lunch specials include a hot coffee or tea that is refillable, compared to most other cafes that only offer that for breakfast/brunch. My go-to's include anything with curry including brisket and chicken, as well as the chicken steak and spinach and fillet with creme sauce and rice. The curry is especially flavorful, with chicken that you can tell has been seasoned separately but comes together nicely. The beef steaks, though can be hit or miss.

Perfect for late night eats. Came here after celebrating my birthday and we could count on the fact that they were open on Christmas day too. We had our party of 9 people seated immediately. Service was efficient and our food came out quickly too. As with every HK cafe/restaurant, there's a huge variety of foods on the menu and I generally associate the cuisine with nostalgic, easy to eat comfort foods. And that's what you get here too. We got the: 1) Thai Tea: - Sweet and creamy. Definitely made with more condensed milk. Great yummy twist on Thai tea. Can never go wrong with that. 2) Ovaltine: -I know it's a pre-mix drink, but it's one of my favorites. Nice and chocolate taste. Made with condensed milk. Delicious, sweet, and malty. Another classic and a must get for me whenever I see it on the menu. 3) Eel with Curry and Rice: -My brother and his friend debated on this and decided to get this after awhile and it's a good choice. The curry is fried into the rice and it's a savory yellow curry. Fried rice is delicious and comes with corn and green onions. Eel is moist and tastes great with the rice. Not bad! 4) Fried Siu Mai (Fried ordered this and I grabbed a piece): 5) Borscht: -A MUST whenever I go into an HK style cafe restaurant or actually any restaurant that has this soup. My top favorite soup, no matter what style it comes in. I already ate before coming here but everything I took a bite of was pretty good. I'd love to come back again on an empty stomach.

Tasty Choice did turn out to be a tasty choice when my friends and I decided to come here on a Friday night. It was later at night (9pm) when we came and most other Chinese/Hong Kong food in the area were almost closing, so we picked this spot as it closes at 2am! We did not regret it. I loved the vibe of this place, it felt very cozy and homely. It is a huge menu and there were so many options. We ordered the sauteed string beans, xo fried rice, beef cubes (forgot what it was called exactly), and beef chow fun and did family style. I was so happy lol everything was so good. Our food didn't take super long to come out either and came out one by one or as it was ready. Service was great and one of the employees even offered to take a picture of us when he saw I was trying to take a selfie haha. I would definitely come back another time whenever I'm in the area!

Out of all the HK cafes, Tasty Choice is my fav and they open late!! Obviously haven't been to every single one in SGV but I love their pineapple bun because the butter is warm enough where it actually melts. They have big portions so you'll probably bring some food back. Also I enjoyed every single dish and the service is pretty good.

Checked out Tasty Choice in San Gabriel for the first time and was impressed by just how extensive the menu is. So many options to choose from, so we ordered a variety of dishes to share. The German-style pig's knuckle had a nice cumin-forward flavor, though we were hoping for a crispier texture. The assorted mushroom braised seafood with egg tofu was comforting and silky, but the overall flavor was a bit light and could have used more seasoning. The honey walnut shrimp was nicely crunchy with medium-sized shrimp. The sautéed string beans were well seasoned with a pleasant smokiness from the wok. The salted pepper spicy fish fillet was crunchy and enjoyable, though not very spicy and could have used a bit more pepper to really pop. We also ordered the beef rice porridge, which was warm, flavorful, and very comforting. Service was excellent, and all of our dishes came out within about 10 minutes, which was impressive given how much we ordered. Overall, a great spot for Hong Kong style family dishes, and I'd definitely come back to try more items from their huge menu.

We tried this place because when I called for takeout at HK Macau, they were out of nearly everything we wanted to order including rice noodles for chow fun and pan fried cod. So I found this spot and placed a pick up order for Beef and Egg Chow Fun and Salted Pepper and Spicy Fish Filet. Both dishes were absolutely delicious!! As for service, the staff were so kind on the phone and at pick up. The restaurant is not as flashy or fancy as HK but it is definitely worth a visit. We were so hungry that I forgot to get pics of the takeout, but trust me, it was really good! The prices appear slightly cheaper too. We will definitely be coming back!!

Everyone has their go-to Cantonese café in the SGV, and Tasty Choice just happens to be mine. They've been around for years, and I've probably eaten here dozens of times by now. Whether it's breakfast, lunch, or a late dinner, the staff is always friendly and the food hits the spot. Quality is consistently solid for this style of Cantonese café cooking. Some of my favorites are the oxtail with red wine sauce, the German pork shank, and the chicken steak with black pepper sauce. They open early for breakfast and stay open until 2am, which makes them a clutch option for late-night eats in the area. If you've never been, it's worth checking out.

Recently my family been coming here quite a bit, so it's been almost a regular for them. I haven't been here since I was a child and I have to say I was pretty surprised by the service and the food. We got the baked pork chop, chicken spaghetti with black pepper sauce, and the grilled chicken and pork chop w/ rice. The baked pork chop's sauce was how I liked it, if I had to complain I don't really care for the pork that much. I might see if I can change it to baked chicken stick instead next time if I get it next time. The grilled chicken and pork chop was pretty standard and as always I always prefer chicken steak than pork at hk cafe but especially here. Maybe pork chop isn't their best thing to get here. What was the most surprising to me was the chicken spaghetti with black pepper. That was REALLY good. The chicken slices/bits were also marinated perfectly and I just liked this dish a lot. I can see why they are still open to this day. The waiter (especially) was especially kind to us and that was definitely ++ points for me.

Service was quick, friendly, and attentive. Atmosphere inside was hip and vibey. Overall, this is a great restaurant and I'd highly recommend others to try their dishes.

The restaurant has a modern Asian-inspired interior with black brick accents, warm wood furniture, hanging pendant lights, and a striking red geometric ceiling. As soon as I walked in, a waiter handed me a menu along with an order slip to fill out while I waited for a table. That sure made the service feel less personal than I'd prefer. Every table was full, people were waiting near the entrance for seats, and the energy inside was loud and lively. These days, I'm more of a quiet-corner kind of diner. Unfortunately, I didn't find my usual quiet corner this time, but I managed to find a corner, and that was good enough. My dinner. Hot Tea ($2.00) Xiao Long Bao (8) ($13.00) The dumplings arrived steaming hot filled with juicy pork and flavorful broth. My favorite part of the meal besides the tea. Spicy Beef Ramen ($16.00) Large chunks of beef sat in a rich, vibrant red broth alongside ramen noodles, vegetables, and a hard-boiled egg. The beef, however, was not as tender as it looked. The broth was too spicy for my liking. I do not recommend. Subtotal: $31.00 Tax: $3.02 Total: $41.02, including tax and a $7.00 tip. Overall, the food was okay, and the service sure needs improvement.

My sisters-in-law who live in the area highly recommended this spot when we were deciding on a Sunday dinner the night before we flew out. Among the four of us, we ordered: - Xiao Long Bao (soup dumplings) - Biang Biang Noodles: least numbing of the noodle dishes we ordered. If you LOVE carbs and not a lot of sauce, this one's for you! - Dandan noodles: this thin noodle dish is slightly more numbing than the Biang Biang noodles, but still bearable and tasty. - Chongqing Special Noodles: most numbing of the three! I had to pause eating this a few times as it was getting a little uncomfy! The noodles are side but thinner than the Biang Biang noodles. I liked that we ordered noodle dishes each with different noodle types, flavors, and spice levels. The Biang Biang noodles were respite from the Chongqing Special Noodles, while the Dandan noodles had the right amount of peanut flavor and "mala." We arrived 45 minutes before closing on a Sunday night (it was a holiday the next day though). We were surprised that there was still a line of people wait in for seats close to closing time! Thinking we weren't going to be seated, we decided to order for takeout. We ended up being the last party to be seated! The staff was kind to transfer our takeout orders as dine-in dishes! The staff had the right amount of customer service and attentiveness for a Chinese restaurant, if you know what I mean haha. For amazing noodle dishes, comfortable seating, and accommodating service, Chong Qing Special Noodles gets a solid five star rating!

We ordered the cucumbers, chongqing special noodles and you po noodles. Cucumbers and you po were relatively flavorless. Cucumbers weren't garlicky enough, and again, minimal seasoning/sauce. We ended up dipping them a bunch. You po also relatively flavorless. The noodles seemed fresh, but were a bit overdone and almost soggy. They were enhanced by the best of what we ordered, and that was the Chong Qing noodles. Decent flavor, noodles were cooked well, and nice portion of meat and bok choy. We asked for spicy, and it wasn't that, but the sauce/soup base definitely saved the other dishes. Won't be going out of my way to come back, accordingly.

I can't speak for them, but I will say, if you order the tsukemen and find that you want more dipping broth, that will be an extra charge. Order a regular bowl of ramen if you do not plan to dip the brothless noodles into the broth for each bite. BF and I both tried the spicy tuna bowl ($7.95), chashu bowl ($8.95), and tonkotsu ramen ($15.95). The bowls are a little smaller than the ramen bowls and are a great option if you want a light meal without feeling super full. The tonkotsu ramen had a slightly rich broth that was flavorful and a decent portion of noodles. We opted not to order the ramen with the egg since we were also trying the rice bowls. The three items were more than enough for the two of us and a good variety of food. Parking here is horrible at the street level, so head downstairs for the two levels of underground parking.
