Well I'll be coming back here every week for the foreseeable future. This is some of the best Thai food I'd ever had. Considering I've lived in five states and 7 different cities now that is saying a lot. Perfect spice levels, freshness, and all vegan to boot? Awesome. I didn't like the dressing that came with the salad lunch special, to sweet but that was an easy fix. I had a friend treat me to Thai Vegan today. Full disclosure I had no idea of the name or where the lunch was coming from. We he came back with the takeout it smelled so good I had the garlic pepper steak. I was three bites in when I asked where he got it from because I was hooked! When he said Thai Vegan I asked why they had steak and he explained it wasn't meat. This was my first experience with vegan cuisine and meat substitutes. It was awesome. The best vegan food that I have ever had. I got the orange "chicken" and a Thai iced tea. I can honestly say that this orange "chicken" was better than any real orange chicken I've ever had. The Thai iced tea was a little too sweet for me. Our food took quite a while - it was busy so it's understandable but there was a lack of communication regarding the delay in our food. 1 star for being plant based, a lifestyle that cares about what the body ingests--but then NOT caring AT ALL and feeding people unfiltered and dirty city tap with unfiltered tap ice. If you don't care about your water, it makes customers wonder what other corners you are cutting in the interest of a tiny bit of money. Vegans don't want traces of heavy metals in their water, and they don't want it to be acidic either if it is. Decent food of course, but after inspecting the kitchen by peeking a head in, it was found to be far from hygienic. The floor is so filthy the grout might not even come clean as well as the corner/edge of every old surface in there. Change these integral aspects of your business for your daily customers and upgrade with your renovation from the rotting awning foundation and this review will disappear or even change to the 5 stars one of the few Vegan places in ABQ should deserve. My friend got a curry dish that had a good flavor, but there were so many onions in there that she barely ate half of it. We ordered takeout and were given spiciness level of 1-5 to choose from. I ordered my Pad Kee Mao 2/5 spicy and my husband's Pad See Ew 3/5 spicy. When we got home to eat, we found our food completely inedible because it was SO spicy. We've been eating Thai food for decades and have never encountered spice levels so far off base. When I called to let them know, they refused to make it right and told me that 3/5 is just spicy. Stay clear of this place. read more

Not an expert in Vegan Food, but this place was definitely delicious. Upon arrival, it took a good while before being approached by the staff with menus and a drink order. There were only 2 servers for the small, yet extremely busy restaurant, so after about 45 minutes the meals were brought out. The Pad Thai with tofu was simply amazing and so flavorful! A very generous serving with a side salad, had me feeling very full and satisfied. For dessert, try the green tea ice cream to finish off a great meal. read more

During the pandemic these great people are there to warm my heart and fill my stomach. Ordered over the phone, "see you in 10 min", remarkably fast. When I arrived I saw they had repurposed the entryway vestibule as a customer pickup spot with a bell. They are so friendly! When I got the order it was in a paper bag (some still remember that's the city law) where they had drawn on the logo with "we 'r together" slogan that was all over the visible. Right now they're even offering 15% off orders! Food was delicious! green curry (which hit us with a nice, slow-burning spice), cashew nut, and ax order of fresh rolls (which to my memory they are doubling from two to four in these trying times). I've never been to a vegan restaurant before. I love Thai food and often order vegetarian dishes, so why wouldn't I love this place? Well, I thought it was great. I'll be back. I ordered spicy noodles, veggies only. I don't need soy replacements for my meats and I don't like tofu really, so veggies only fit the bill just fine for me. The lunch prices run about $9 for a very filling portion that includes the most amazing spring rolls and a fresh salad. My friend ordered stir fried (?) veggies. It was just a small bowl of veggies in a tasty broth with rice, salad, and spring rolls. She really enjoyed it. Again, just veggies, no soy replacement nonsense. We both thought that a cheaper price should be available if you go with veggies only. $9 is totally reasonable for a delicious, filling entree, but I'm sure their food cost was next to nothing without any steak or chicken or soy replacements included. Pass along the savings to me! The place is small, so you may have to wait a minute or two because they are good, and people know it. Service was quick and friendly. Next time, and there will be next times (plural), I'm excited about trying their Tom Yum soup. read more

I went to a party that was catered by Thai Vegan and was very impressed! I'm typically a carnivore but I'm open to trying anything. The party hosts had good pizzas on-hand in case the vegan choices weren't satisfactory but everyone ate the Thai Vegan food! Thai Vegan knows what's up. I am no vegan, but this place makes me want to be. They are top of my list for any kind of food in Albuquerque, and I'm usually a picky eater! The great thing about this place is that there are so many things on the menu to choose from and it's consistently good. I haven't had anything bad off the menu yet. Don't shy away from the soy "meat"; it's much better than it sounds.The food is fresh, it's "healthy", and it's delicious. The exterior is not the best, but when you walk inside and it's like you've opened a treasure chest. The colors are gorgeous and make the place seem exotic, but still inviting. I don't really think "meat" when I think Thai, so it seemed a weird idea to add fake meat to something that I would not get meat with anyway. But it paid off: they are tight, considered dishes and knowledgeable, invested staff -and they have only been open three days! Everything is vegan on the entire menu (except canned sodas, I suppose) and it is done well: with such quality substitutes that you would not even notice. This is the fake meat that is as good as actual meat even to a meat eater. There are a few non-thai items on the menu for those who don't dig such (I don't care for thai curries myself, so I'm picky), but I stuck to a reliable standard: pad thai. I think you can judge a thai place pretty fairly by the pad thai, and here the vegan also paid off: there are so many places that go way overboard with egg. The spring rolls were good, the egg rolls good, the salads (with homemade dressing) were good, the brown rice good, the portions huge enough that I ate until I had a stomach ache and still took leftovers. I'm not a Vegan but my wife is. I have grown to like this place very much. We usually lunch on Saturday, and we both enjoy the P.E.T. (pumpkin, eggplant and tofu) but we recently discovered the pepper steak which is indecipherable from the real thing. The food is outstanding. Just one thing about the service. Not too pleased with Ashley, who seemed put out by our requests (refills etc.). Her whole affect does not reflect good customer service. This place is an outstanding vegan place and I urge everyone (whether you are vegan or not!) to go there and support them. We discovered this place on a recent trip to Albuquerque by Googling "Vegan Restaurants in ABQ". Since the wife is now vegan with no true vegan choices in El Paso, I figured lets see what we can find out of town. And find we did...this gem hidden away on Osuna road in Albuquerque. Quick tip for the out of towners. If you are getting off off I-25 you take the San Mateo exit. Its Osuna on one side and San Mateo on another ...but what you do is go on the San Mateo side of the road because for some reason Osuna picks up 3 lights down! Confusing ...but ...hey...this is pretty good. The second confusing thing when looking at the menu is that they keep mentioning Chicken this and pork that....no worries! its all soy...and keeping it true to style, soy shrimp costs more! :-) Very friendly hostess and nice interior with strangely low chairs and for some reason the absence of the portrait of the king (and I don't mean Elvis...I mean the Thai king) bothers me...but hey thats me. We ordered the Green curry dumplings, PET (pumpkin, eggplant, tofu) curry and Prarams Plate for lunch along with ginger tea. The tea showed up pretty quickly and it turned out to be from one of those ready made packets you can buy (I know I have a bunch of them...and they are good) and literally minutes later, great smells started wafting from the kitchen and our app showed up. These green curry dumplings where the veggie bomb! Very think light skin wrapped around a tofu and vegetable filling in a slightly sweet green curry sauce, served on a bed of julienned cabbage and carrots. We scarfed those down oh in a few seconds and now waited in anticipation of the our food. The PET was just nicely sauteed largish pieces of pumpkin, eggplant and tofu in a soy, garlic sauce with a nice hit of basil which added a touch of spicy sweetness to the dish and complimented the sweetness of pumpkin, the meatiness of the eggplant and helped add flavor to the well..flavorless tofu. The brown rice which was served with this dish was cooked perfectly and complimented the whole healthy vibe. You almost feel virtuous after eating. The Praram plate consisted of soy chicken which was in a slightly sweet brown peanut sauce over a bed of steamed spinach. I generally am not a fan of sweet anything, but in this case the slightly sweet nutty sauce provided a very nice contrast to the very slight bitterness of the steamed spinach and overall was a great meal. I gave in to my greed and temptation and had banana chocolate egg rolls for dessert! These were among the most non greasy sweet egg rolls I have had. Very good...but they needed more than just an artistic drizzle of chocolate, but admittedly then it would have taken the whole meal over the top. Now truthfully I was worried about the vegan stuff purely because Thai food has fish sauce in everything which as anyone knows smells terrible but adds just that perfect depth to all Thai cooking (in fact you see it all over Southeast Asia in different forms) but I should not have worried. Yes I missed it, but the chef was good enough to make do without it. Was it the best Thai food ever?? heck no! Was it pretty good...and really very good for pure vegan, yes yes it sure was. I love Thai vegan. It is nice to have a completely vegan restaurant in Albuquerque that is light, healthy, and super flavorful. Of course, the fake meats that they have are great, and I personally think, being veggie myself, that the meat substitutes are better than what you can get at the store. I go to eat here on average about twice a week, and I have for a long time. I have tried just about everything, and it is always consistent. The staff knows my family, and they are always attentive and nice. It's refreshing to get that kind of consistency in service. The flavors are complex and layered nicely, and you have a lot of choices. If you don't want spicy, be careful what you order, there is chili paste in a lot of the dishes. I always leave there feeling really good. Can't go wrong. read more

The people here are nice, the pricing is reasonable, and the food is excellent. The food at Thai Vegan is so good that I cleared my plate every time and could barely tell I wasn't eating meat. I love Thai food and in a former life, I was a vegan for 8 years. Even so, this place sent me mixed signals. First of all, for Thai food, the flavors and textures, though good, don't pop as much as they could. Not to stick my nose in the air, but I get the sense (especially from overhearing conversations at ALL the neighboring tables) that most patrons here either are trying Thai for the first time or haven't had any other Thai. That's ok. It's just don't expect like.. THAI THAI THAI food (I am NOT going to use the 'a'-word). You have to specify your spice level if you want anything other than mild -I always go safe with Thai food and asked for a 3 out of 5 and it still came out with barely any spice. The food was on the oily side - at the bottom of my pumpkin, eggplant, and tofu dish, there was a pool of oil that had even separated from the sauce. My partner's pineapple fried rice was good, not too sweet, but had an aggressive flavor that coated the mouth. Food is 3 1/2 stars but the service was all over the map. Throughout our meal we had three different servers and two bussers/water refillers/etc. They often failed to communicate to one another. It took a fair amount of hand waving to get anyone to notice you. And our waitresses spanned the gamut from friendly to austere to apathetic, and sometimes these moods shifted even within the same person. The interior is nice and lush - deep reds and golds - spacious rooms with some sunlight drifting in. No complaints here. All in all, I left feeling still a little hungry, a little disoriented, and a little unsure if I would consider a return visit. read more

I had a friend invite me to Thai Vegan and I was pretty skeptical, but I liked this particular friend so I figured I'd give it a try and stop for a burger on the way home or something. What tripped me up? The name. Thai = awesome, Vegan = scary. I was afraid I would get some curry-flavored sprouts wrapped in seaweed or something. I should trust my friends more, this place turned out to be pretty amazing. I ordered the green curry with the 'chicken' and it was beyond awesome. The 'chicken' was so near the real thing that it almost felt wrong to eat it in a vegan restaurant. I felt like I was perpetuating the eating of millions of delicious chickens by enjoying it so much! The curry was spot on too - not too powdery or watery and the veggies were perfectly cooked. The atmosphere was downright comforting, clean, perfectly lit and packed to the brim with hospitality. Somebody was having a birthday the night we were there and the owner came, karaoke mic in hand, and sang his own version of happy birthday to the patron. It was such an outstanding, genuine gesture, I almost wanted to fake that it was my birthday too. I left full, happy, and determined to go back again and again. read more

My husband and I went for dinner while visiting Albuquerque. I had a faux steak dish, my husband had a faux shrimp dish, and we shared the fried tofu appetizer (which came with a stellar dipping sauce). Everything was delicious- good sized portions- and the service was good and friendly. The place was absolutely packed at 730pm on a Wednesday- we actually had to wait a few minutes. A great Thai place that just happens to be veg. The food is really tasty and fairly authentic. Both my parents liked it, and my mom, who is not adventurous, has been here twice. The mock meats are a lot of the stuff from the Asian supermarkets. I like them. Staff is super friendly and attentive. I like the decor too. My baby liked the huge goldfish tank especially. The only negative were that my banana chocolate chip spring rolls were a little cold in the middle. But they have plenty of other desserts, and these weren't that off. I am a vegetarian aspiring to be vegan. This restaurant is fantastic! I went last night with two non-vegetarian friends who frequent the restaurant several times a month. When we arrived, the place was packed and we waited for seats. This was indeed a good sign. I was not disappointed. I was pleasantly surprised that ABQ had a vegan restaurant and Thai Vegan was delicious! The service was fantastic, the food was fresh and timely, and the price was right. They have a ton of options too so I'm sure even your meat-loving friends would like it here. My meal, Spicy Noodles, wasn't very spicy but I didn't know how their levels of hotness would work. Now I know to order up! The food was so good that I also ate there both nights of my business trip to NM. By the way, I was contacted by a friend of a former employee (so they say) who claimed that Thai Vegan uses fish oil. However, when I put that in my review, the new quality control manager emailed me to inform me that it was NOT true and that they uphold their vegan integrity. Thai Vegan is one of the best Thai restaurants in Albuquerque. The food is fresh and the quality is consistent, all at a reasonable price. Plus, despite the whole menu being vegan, the food here is for everyone. Meals can come with the option of tofu or soy chicken, steak, or shrimp - all very tasty. I occasionally eat vegan for periods of time, and this place is very good. The wait staff was professional and prompt, and the chef came out to ask us how our food was. There was not much of a wait because it was late on Wednesday night. Obviously, food without animal products cannot compare to the glory which is meat and milk and cheese and eggs, but as vegan food goes, the Thai Vegan is one of the best. I ordered the Pad Thai with tofu. I was too afraid to try the fake meat, as I like the real thing too much. My older sister has a bad wheat allergy and a mild soy allergy, but the chef was very accommodating. The price was not bad for Thai food. Unfortunately, I used to eat at another Thai restaurant which was not only cheaper, but much better, but since the chef left, I have not found a Thai restaurant nearly as good in Albuquerque. If you want good Thai food and want to eat meat, I don't know if you'll want to eat here - but if you want to eat vegan, this is a very nice treat and a great alternative to peanut butter and jelly. read more
