I've been to The Attic a few times in the past, so this was my third or fourth visit. It's a Michelin Guide Restaurant, which is an excellent accolade. Erick was a good server and prompt with my requests. The hostess was also very nice and friendly. I sat on the patio and the breeze and sunshine were perfect. I had the Up Country Benedict for brunch. The shrimp were plump and succulent, the smoked pork croquette was adequate, but this dish would benefit from a crab croquette to maintain the third coast theme. I also loved the grits cake.
STEPH UPDATE: Still a local favorite for a reason. I hadn't been here in a good long while, but the news of their revamped Happy hour menu piqued my interest. I met up with a couple of friends on a Monday afternoon for a happy hour on their lovely renovated patio. The happy hour menu had lots of good deals, but not a lot of vegetarian or vegan options, alas. I've tried: - $7 old fashioned (great flavor, surprisingly potent) - shrimp cocktail (perfectly plump shrimps, 4 per order) - oysters (very fresh) - biscuits with sorghum butter (biscuits were a bit dry, but that's what the butter's for. Also, not sure if I've ever had sorghum before but it was like a cross between maple syrup and molasses) Really friendly staff, but as it got busier they got harder to flag down. Get there early for happy hour if you can!
Delicious food, great service, interesting cocktails. The sticky rice (Breakfast Rice in a Stone Bowl) was absolutely amazing and I don't usually eat rice. Several people ordered it and I tasted them all because I couldn't get enough! With 10 in our party celebrating a college graduation, we sat on the patio and the service was great. Everyone enjoyed their meals and cocktails. The location provided a hip vibe too, at the corner of Broadway and Newport. Definitely a great brunch spot!
Came here for breakfast. We had the Upcountry Benedict. They were ok. We enjoyed the grits but the shrimp didn't sit well with the poached eggs for us. The pork was great. Very savory. We also ordered the Mac and Cheetos. I'm sure we would have enjoyed it much more if we didn't order them for breakfast. But I am a fan of Hot Cheetos as well. We ordered the chocolate croissant from their sister restaurant and it wasn't crispy and flaky, just bready and not much chocolate. I did order a side of their fried chicken. Now that was amazing. Cooked and flavored just right. Crispy and savory is what comes to mind when I think f their fried chicken ‼. I wouldn't mind returning. Service was good, and the restaurant was in a home, felt homey and comfy.
Good service, some of the BEST fried rice I've ever had in my life and excellent Benedict's! Drinks were on point and everybody enjoyed themselves. Only drawback was that I ordered the rice and kinda wanted it for myself but had to share it with the table . I'd like to try them in the future for dinner. If you're in LA this is one of those spots that's definitely worth a semi lengthy trip to come to and dine!
Parking is hard. They have a lot on the back but it's always full. You need to try on the streets. The further away the easier you'll find a spot. It took 20 min to be sat. We arrived in a Friday around noon It took a while for us to get our order taken and for food to arrive. Truly that was the longest part. A table who got here before us was served before we were. It was getting pretty long We got the buscits which was a let down. They were cold. A bit hard and the butter was unable to be spread. The gumbo was less flavorful and if you are used to more flavorful gumbos then this one isn't for you. It it's more tamed. The rice was a little dry. It tasted like it could come from a package. The best part was the meat serving. The eggs Benedict were perfect. I loved the lemon salad that was served with it. The cut inside the eggs was great and cooked well. I would come back just to try more entrees. Avoid the biscuits unless you have them with gravy. Then let us know. The place is small with outside and inside seating. I attached a video of the view inside. We paid about $50 with tip for the three things and truly it was a good experience. If you like Bloody Marys I would say to come try because we noticed nearly every table getting served one.
So I've seen this place for 20+ years. Always looked amazing. But now that I'm here... I regret not coming sooner! This place is so cozy. They have little table fans to keep flies away for outdoor seating. (Very cool) they have indoor seating as well. I ordered an old fashioned w Four Roses Whiskey. Sooo amazing! The foods great and Ilana was absolutely incredible. Great attitude. Made me and guest feel right at home. Great vibe here. I urge u to try it out
Food was decent, the service was friendly, and the seating areas were one of the highlights. Showed up right between transitioning between their normal menu and happy hour so was able to order from both. There's a side patio, a front patio, and an indoor dining area, all set within a space designed to feel like a home which felt like a quaint and welcoming environment. It's also dog-friendly, so that's a nice bonus for those bringing their pets along. The main drawback is parking. Spaces in the lot behind the restaurant are limited, so you may need to rely on street parking.
We have been to The Attic many times for their breakfast. They have an outdoor patio that's nice to sit at to enjoy the sun. I personally love the breakfast rice in stone bowl. I get it every time. My partner gets the breakfast burrito. It's a pretty good brunch spot! This time we got to try their dinner service. Overall service was pretty good except we had to flag the staff down a couple of times for water. For the food, we thought the seafood was the weakest. I felt that the oyster we got was overdressed, all I tasted was the apple vinegar. The albacore crudo also didn't excite us, we were thinking it would be refreshing but it didn't really do anything. On the bright side, we loved the fries and steak! The sauce that came with it was spectacular and the steak was cooked and seasoned really well. Overall, I think I'll continue to come for the breakfast since we live nearby, but might be a while before we try their dinner menu again.
Really yummy food. Really good vibe. Service was kind and on point. I'd recommend the beignets, chocolate cake, and French fries, and biscuits!! We also ordered the bratwurst (it was ok), the burger (it was just a basic cheese burger), and the chicken sandwich (chicken was crispy and moist).
Went to The Attic tonight, enticed by The Ultimate Girl Dinner: a dirty martini with ten olives, fries and a Caesar. Both my friend and I ended up also ordering the sea bream, per the recommendation of our lovely waitress Vernice . AHMAZING and could eat this everyday for the rest of my life. I've been to The Attic many a time before, never had a bad experience. Needed to write this review to compliment Vernice. She was patient, attentive, super friendly, helpful and made us feel at home. Her service was outstanding and she went above and beyond to make us leave with a better impression of the restaurant than we already had. Thanks girly!! Will be back again soon! Appreciate yall!
Nine of us for happy hour. And we are happy. Nathan was our server. We maximizes the drinks. I had gumbo and so did three others. There was grilled okra on the top with white rice. Nicely done. A side of corn bread. Very rich. Two Caesar salads. Nice slab of grilled chicken or grilled shrimp. Both were tasty. Hot cheeto Mac and cheese was 'amazing'. The drinks were great. Sangrias, martini and a number of mixed drinks. Everyone asked for grits and shrimp. They need to bring it back.
Came back and all of my sentiments are the same, and then some! Food's fantastic, love that they switch up their menu (if they still have this amazing pot pie, get it), the ambience is cool and casual, great for date night, and our server was friendly and charismatic.

10/10 Gumbo. Perfectly seasoned and very comforting on a cold day! I would definitely come back for this dish. As for whether or not it's authentic, I really couldn't tell you haha but it was still very yummy. We sat indoor and it was still quite chilly as if we were seated outside (but we did sit by the door). Just keep that in mind for all yall that is weak to the cold like me! It's decorated very nicely for the holidays right now and is a cute place to have brunch with friends. read more

My husband and I went for a date night early this week. We sat inside to avoid the cold (though it was still rather chilly inside) but the Christmas vibes inside were perfect. We loved the cornbread!! So delish. We split the burger and the bone marrow shepherds pie. We enjoyed our meal. I felt everything was maybe a little over peppered, but otherwise I was pleased. Also- order the strawberry lemonade. It's SOOOO GOOD! The staff was very nice and so helpful. The house and ambiance is very homey and cozy. I only saw the outside seating from afar but it looked plentiful and there were heaters. read more
I hadn't been to The Attic in over 10 years, and I'm happy to say it's still just as good as I remember. This spot is well known for their Bloody Marys and is a great place to come for brunch. We came on a Saturday afternoon and it wasn't very busy--seemed like they were getting ready to close--so we were seated right away. We sat outside on the patio, and since it was a beautiful day, the outdoor seating made the experience even better. The vibe was relaxed and cool, and the staff was very friendly and attentive. For food, we ordered the jambalaya, eggs benedict, and banana pudding for dessert. Everything was absolutely delicious. I also ordered the bacon-y Bloody Mary, and it definitely hit the spot--flavorful and perfectly made. The Attic has both indoor and outdoor seating, is very dog-friendly, and also has a bar if you prefer to sit at the stools. The restaurant itself is really charming, set inside an old-style home, so it feels like you're eating in someone's house rather than a typical restaurant. Overall, The Attic still delivers great quality food, good service, and a fun, comfortable atmosphere. It's a solid brunch spot, and I'd definitely recommend it. read more

Recently moved to Long Beach and this stop was on my list, mostly to try the Cheeto Mac n cheese! Although esthetically pleasing, really the hot Cheetos were the best part of the dish. Both my friend and I were pretty disappointed in the food quality and didn't enjoy really any of our meal. The Mac n cheese and chicken sandwhich lacked flavor, the lobster roll was okay but hard to mess up imitation crab. Fries were old, soggy, and not edible. I didn't end up eating my half of the chicken sandwhich after one bite. Despite every dish lacking in flavor, the service was quick and amazing! Staff were friendly and attentive and I would maybe give this place another try for dinner just because of how great the staff and ambience was (maybe brunch just isn't it?). Overall the food was overpriced for the quality of it. The reviews were misleading for the experience we had. read more
Love their Mac and Cheetos. The ambiance is just really cute here. We did a paint and sip night here once's and it was super fun. Came here a handful of times for brunch and dinner and drinks at the bar and overall the Mac and Cheetos have been the best thing on the menu, at least for me. Parking sucks lol but that's typical for Broadway. read more

Girl dinner has never looked and tasted so dang delightful. Perfectly chilled dirty martinis with the correct amount of olives, crispy Parmesan delicately placed on the finest cesar salad, and gently toasted fries. And how could we not get the hot cheetos & mac?! That creation is sent straight from foodie heaven. Bonus points for the Diet Coke on the side. Service is always smooth sailing and the overall vibe of this place is pure comfort. Love it as always and 10/10 would recommend. read more

The Attic absolutely lives up to the hype. It's got that perfect mix of cozy and elevated -- like brunching at your Southern grandma's house if she also happened to be a chef with a flair for presentation. The vibe is relaxed but still feels special, with that old Craftsman charm and sunlight pouring through the windows. We went for breakfast and kicked things off with the Fries, Mac and Cheetos, Belgian Waffles, and Biscuits & Gravy -- and honestly, not a single miss. The Mac and Cheetos was ridiculous (in the best way possible): creamy, crunchy, and addictive. The Biscuits & Gravy were fluffy and rich without being too heavy, and the Waffles hit that perfect balance of crisp edges and soft center. Even the fries were on point -- seasoned, golden, and clearly not your basic diner fries. The service was friendly and attentive without hovering, and everything came out hot and fresh. You can tell the kitchen actually cares about the food. If you're looking for a breakfast spot that feels like a treat but still has down-to-earth vibes, The Attic is it. Just know parking can be tight and there's usually a wait -- but once you're in, it's worth every minute. Would 100% come back to work through the rest of the menu. read more
Happy Hour Only: This restaurant has been opened since 2012 in Long Beach. During these times, that says a lot about an establishment. This restaurant is known for its solid brunches with southern influences. Unfortunately we were off to an event, so we only got to experience their drinks! Happy hour is from 3:30-5pm and offers a host of cocktails, beers and wine. On the happy hour menu- you can get an espresso martini for seven dollars! Plus a good list of foods that range from burgers to beignets. The service we were provided was wonderful from the bartenders. Our bartender has been working at this restaurant for seven years- and his great customer service shows! The restaurant has a good size patio that is covered and uncovered. Plus an outdoor bar with booths and seating at the bar. In the covered area there are fans but on a hot day it may be too hot to sit outside unless you have a nice cool drink. The inside seating is cute- The inside area is inside of a bungalow- They have a small private room that looks like you are sitting in somebody's dining room. There is a small patio off the dining area too. I look forward to coming back and experiencing their food menu! read more

Five stars just for the ricotta french toast. That thing is amazing. We had a late lunch at The Attic and everyone was happy with their food. My wife's deep fried shrimp and chips were excellent, as was my Caesar salad. The four of us shared the french toast for dessert, which totally hit the spot. The. I've had this place bookmarked for LB for a very long time and finally came in to visit. Parking was fine for a Friday evening, mostly street but was able to find the empty parking lot behind the building. The location is a charming house that was super comfortable. Service was great, Riley took care of us and was super attentive and friendly. Ordered off of Happy Hour: gumbo, mac and Cheetos & corn bread for $46. There was a 15 minute wait for the fresh corn bread and it was so worth it. I would've waited an hour for it. Gumbo was flavorful and Mac was unique. Ended the dinner with a fresh beignet for birthday. Had a fantastic time and would totally return. read more

My friend brought me here during a gap between our classes and told me it was a fan favorite here in LB. Truth be told, I had never heard of this place but I'm glad he brought me. We were able to be seated almost immediately. After a few recommendations, I settled for the chicken and waffles. I wanted to try the Reuben, as the waiter mentioned it is a more popular option but also limited. They had ran out of them by the time we got there. I was disappointed but it just means I will have to come back to try it another day! The chicken and waffles were pretty good though. It was a fair portion too, not too much and not too little. One giant piece of chicken and one medium sized waffle with a side of gravy and hot honey Tabasco. It all tasted really good and the chicken was super tender and crispy. I can't say I was left disappointed with my choice. Our server constantly checked up on us to see how we were doing and constantly brought us glasses of water. I liked this detail. Also the patio seating outside was lovely on a sunny afternoon in Long Beach. Thankfully it was not too hot or cold outside. read more

I could have sworn I reviewed this place before, but either way, I'm happy to do it again! The Attic is hands down my favorite spot to visit whenever I fly into Cali to see family. I recommend it anytime someone asks for a local favorite. The service is always great, and I come here for the Bloody Mary menu, they're basically a meal of their own! My go-tos are the Classic, the Meaty Man, and the Spicy Maria (not quite a Bloody Mary, but still a solid choice). The cocktail menu overall is excellent. Now, onto the food: I highly recommend the mac and cheese, shrimp and grits, and the chicken and waffles. I still have so much left to try, but everything I've had so far has been a hit. The vibe feels like eating at a friend's house that also happens to be a fancy restaurant not sure how else to describe it, lol, but I love it. Parking has never been an issue for me, but a tip: don't block anyone's driveway. The restaurant sits near a neighborhood right behind it, and that's usually where the best parking is. read more

Incredible food and service! Excellent all the way around. We came for dinner and started with the cornbread which was served warm with butter and honey. Delicious and a must! We had Caesar salad, market salad and pork chops. The pork chops were so tender and full of flavor. The combination of peaches and cilantro was so tasty. My husband and I enjoyed it so much. Most dishes are shareable and you will want to because the food is excellent. The restaurant is in a cute little house that has been converted into a restaurant with bar patio on the side. Super cute. We must try the bunch! read more
Came here for the first time for brunch! Food was great and there is plenty of seating inside and out. We ordered the chicken and waffles, steak and eggs. Both were great! Our food did take a little bit to come out but it was fresh. Our waitress was great. Defiantly will be back! read more
This is not my first time here at the attic so I knew what to expect food wise - as the dish I ordered, Gumbo, is one I came specifically for. It was delicious, everything tasted fresh and flavourful and had a little kick that was perfect for the gloomy weather. Coming in on a Sunday morning around 10am and was seated immediately, there were about 5 other tables sat when I arrived so if you want to beat the rush, go then! The music is always nice and the vibe of the attic is cosy and quaint. My waitress was friendly and checked in on me a good amount, no complaints here. I came in for the last few weeks of their summer menu I believe so I may have to go back soon and see what they have in fall - as the menus are seasonal! read more

The food here has such deep, rich flavors! We had to fight to find street parking but it was worth it for the food. The menu is not too broad, which works for them getting their dishes just right. The shrimp and grits were so fluffy and savory, it almost feels like a soft omelette. And the shrimp was seasoned so well. The chicken had a great crunch and the meat inside was soft and hot. The waffle was soft and was great with both the syrup and the gravy we ordered extra. You honestly don't need the gravy, the chicken is seasoned plenty. We came for an early breakfast before the brunch rush so staff was attentive and we did not wait long for our table or food. There is an element of care to the space as well, the tables have little wedges under the feet to prevent instability while you're eating. read more

Charming establishment that offers GR8T food, friendly service, and cosy settings that is perfect for small or large groups of friends and/or family to gather and enjoy an over-all meal. As stated in the attached receipt - we had the shucked fresh oysters, biscuits & sorghum, Grandma's cornbread, the porterhouse, the salmon, and the ratatouille - all very delicious and perfect for sharing....family style - this way we can eat variety of dishes :-) The host and server were attentive and friendly... Highly recommend to all - dinner and brunch - you cannot go wrong. read more

Everything here was amazing. They take reservations. It looks like both indoor and outside seating available. The server was great and also told us about the sister business Nonna Mercato so will have to try that sometime. The food was delicious and filling, but I will say the iced latte was not really good at all. It was very much heavy on the milk and could not taste much coffee. read more
What a nice little spot tucked away in the LBC. I let my friend pick spot for brunch and she found this gem. Enjoyed their eggs Benedict. Definitely not ur traditional beney... this was on a cake made of grits. We got one with shrimp and one with pulled pork and poached eggs on top. Super delicious. Washed it down with their red eye coffee. I wish it was closer but would definitely like to come back. read more

Started off with them not having our reservation through open table. The host said it was their system not ours. We were seated outdoors right away as there was plenty of seating available last night (Saturday at 8:30pm). Ambiance was gorgeous as they have stringed lighting and mural on wall. Server was great! Food was delicious! We ordered the mac and hot Cheetos, chicken main dish, and grandmas cornbread. All were very good. The main dish was the best. read more

I liked the concept and decoration of The Attic because of the fun spin they added throughout the home-turned-restaurant. Although it's Southern cuisine, it felt like it was coming from a different perspective than what I usually experience with this type of food, so I was definitely interested in how everything would taste. The food was decent; we're not the biggest fans of boneless fried chicken, but the waffles were pretty good. We also loved how they celebrated birthdays, as they made us feel special, and we appreciated that! read more
This a cute, laidback, neighborhood restaurant. It's got the open feel. The staff is pretty welcoming. They do change their menu a few times a day, so options can change. I've been a few times and even during happy hour. I think they have delicious cocktails. Food wise, I like the chicken under a brick, the corn bread and during brunch the breakfast rice in a stone bowl. The food options are interesting and have a southern twist to it. The place is dog friendly and even has a dog menu. It's good for group gatherings, small groups, dates and happy hour. They have a small parking lot in the back, otherwise, it's street or neighborhood parking. read more

Great little house turned restaurant. The food is super fresh & the service is great. We had the potato pancakes which was more like potato coins that's crunchy on the outside and creamy on the inside served with a lemon mustard sauce that was so tasty and complimented the plainness a potato might have. Also had the sweet cayenne bacon that was thick and sweet with a hint of spice. My mom had pulled pork & shrimp eggs benedict which had a corn cake as a base instead of your typical English muffin. My friend had the biscuits and gravy. Everything was so delicious. I recommend making reservations as this place gets busy and it use to be a house so the restaurant is not very big. Cool ambience to sit back and enjoy a good brunch spot. read more

There are kid menu items just not listed. Grilled cheese, pasta with butter and noodles, etc.

Dogs are allowed on the patio! There are lots of outdoor tables that could accommodate your pupper!

Yes, but limited maybe like 10 spots. Otherwise use street parking

I don't believe they do. Drink specials are offered from 4-5:30 pm.
Does the outside dining table space have enough room for a stroller to be beside a table?
Im pretty sure they can accommodate you. Getting through the isle with a stroller might be tight.

We serve our intermission menu daily from 4pm-5:30pm which has oysters, a lobster roll, a shrimp cocktail, a seasonal cheeseboard, and a couple different bread options. There are wine, beer and cocktail specials. All bottles of wine are 50% off.…

Are there actual vegan options here? The only thing marked vegan on the menu are the fries.
I would call them vegetarian options, not vegan.
Do they have non alcoholic beverages?
Yes, they are a restaurant so they have non-alcoholic drinks on their regular food menu. But their alcoholic drinks are the best! Especially their Bloody Mary's❤
When do they stop serving breakfast (during weekdays)?
They don't, should be an all day menu.
Will they have Thanksgiving brunch?
No they are not open on Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day
