We usually go to the crab shack on western but we decided to give this location a try since the western location had a 40 minute wait. It was packed since it was a Saturday night but there was ample parking and tables. Our group came around 7:10. We had a party of 8 and were seated after 20 minutes. Our server (Stephanie) was very attentive and always asked how we were doing. For starters, we ordered two clam chowder (8.99 each), one order of Cajun fries (4.99), and one order of calamari (11.99). I would pass on the clam chowder, but I would highly recommend getting calamari and Cajun fries. If you check in on yelp, you can get an order of Cajun fries for free, but just make sure to let your server know. For our main meal, we ordered combo #2 (65.99) with mild (not spicy) garlic butter with 1 lb of snow crab legs, 2 lbs of shrimp, 1 lb of mussels, 2 corn, 3 potatoes, and 4 sausages. we also ordered a combo #2 with medium (spicy) garlic butter with 1 lb of snow crab legs, 2 lbs of shrimp, and 1 lb of mussels 2 corn, 3 potatoes, and 4 sausages. If it's your birthday, you also get a free funnel cake topped with vanilla ice cream, sliced strawberries, powdered sugar, and strawberry syrup (7.00). Located where Yami Tea used to be, this Crab Shack is another seafood in the bag place. Like competitor Kickin Crab, they offer combinations, which includes seafood (starting at 3 pounds) corn, potatoes and sausage. Not into that many carbs or sausage? Getting the food a la carte came to a better deal for us. Unlike the competitor, they "cut" the bag for you, which really irked me. I'd rather tie my own bag and then invert it so I eat bottom side first, so I can get the shrimp before they overcook. Service was decent, and the medium "everything" sauce was good, and not that overly spicy. Note: There's no paper towels in the bathroom. It's an air dryer, and one sink. I came here with a party of 9 on a Friday night so it was pretty busy, but the staff took good care of us despite how large of a party we were. We ordered the fish and chips, peeled shrimp (crab shack style - medium), king crab legs, and crab shack fries. The crab shack fries were such a good choice - seasoned cajun fries that were perfectly thin and crispy. The fish and chips consisted of fried cat fish with your choice of fries. The fish was breaded and fried evenly, giving it a nice and crunchy texture. The fish also didn't taste too 'fishy' or taste like sand/dirt. The peeled shrimp came in a bowl rather than a large bag like the unpeeled shrimp. I hadn't seen that before but they still tasted good. The crab shack style with medium spiciness was the perfect level of spicy (at least for someone who regularly eats spicy foods) and the flavor was great. It does get pretty salty but it was still good. The king crab legs were great too. Cooked just perfectly that the meat inside was tender and not rubbery. Service was pretty quick considering it was a busy Friday night and we had such a large party. Our food came out probably in less than 20 minutes. read more

I know these times are different but I just left this location after calling multiple times to tell me they close at 9pm. Clearly the yelp says 10pm. I asked if they answered their phone to be rudely told again they close at 9pm after he already said the same thing. There is no better place to get fresh seafood, your choice of clams, shrimp, mussels, snow crab, king crab and even Dungeness crab - than at one of 3 Crab Shack restaurants. There specialty - combo seafood prepared and served in a bag! Not just steamed and sprinkled with spices. The seafood is steamed and cooked with a secret combination of spices to give it a Louisiana flavor taste. Intended to impress! You just can't eat just one or two items, the food is so tasty you find yourself eating until you can't eat anymore. Don't worry, the sauce comes in 3 levels: mild, medium spicy or more spicy. Medium was spicy enough for me. They also serve other appetizers and entrees, but to get the best experience, I recommend the combo. You can always customize your order like just snow crab legs and corn. We had a party of 8 and since they serve on a first come serve basis, I recommend large parties arriving NLT 5 pm on weekend nights. Food was great hot and tasty the service on the other hand was not. We waited at least ten minutes to have our drink order taken. When we finally got our food we asked for a side of their spicy sauce, the sauce never came. I asked for a bag to go and the check, the check came with the charge of the sauce that we never got, I ended up getting the bag myself, on my back from washing my hands. If you've been to these Cajun boil type places, you know what to expect. There are definitely lots of these places around (albeit not that many in the South Bay), and a lot of them are quite similar minus a few differences is spices, pricing, and side items. The first time I got this to-go, I was a little bit worried about how this would hold up as a to-go meal. I was pleasantly surprised- it stays hot quite well and as long as you prepare some paper towels, is nice to eat in the comfort of your home. I always get the shrimp (with heads) and clams here. The shrimp is usually quite good. I hate when these places overcook the shrimp or use shrimp that does not taste fresh. I've never had that problem here. The clams are usually pretty good too, though the last time I ordered them they were quite undercooked. I don't mind a "medium rare" on these guys, but it was undercooked to the point where there were maybe 4-5 of them that were barely starting to open, meaning I couldn't even eat them. Typically they're okay, so hopefully that's not a trend going forward. The seasoning here is good. I always get all of them mixed together, which works nicely. It's not as salty as some of these places can get. It has a nice smokiness that you'd expect from Cajun spices, but overall it has good balance. Spiciness gets hot quick. My heat tolerance is okay, but medium heat is as hot as I'd go to eat comfortably. Last time, my corn, which was soaked in the spices, was blazingly spicy and really painful to eat. But that's part of the experience, right? Also really like their choice of potatoes and sausage. The potatoes have good flavor and texture- sometimes I feel they can seem undercooked and tasteless in these types of restaurants. Their sausage is really good too. Smoky and peppery. I am giving a five star to this crab shack because of several factors. The two workers Gage and his friend were wonderful and professional. I ordered two packs of snow crabs one was amazing the other was very poor quality. The workers told the manager on duty Sunday he recommended replacing the poor bag of crab. I went to the restaurant and the manger on Monday was extremely rude. He complained about how the workers are not to do anything without his permission. The manager fussed at them in front of other customers. The fussing was long and totally unprofessional. It was on Monday nite Feb 26th. The manger needs to be written up and told to not make employees feel little and unappreciated in front of customers. I praise the two employees and the food was good. Also the workers didn't complain they listened and just took the verbal abuse. Thank you to the two workers again for fixing the problem. I will continue to go there and I truly hope to never see the manager from Monday nite again. I have shared this story with others who go to this crab shack and they will continue to go there. This has to be the most terrible crab restaurant my wife and I have visited! And we frequent "The Kickin Crab and The boiling crab." In comparison to the two, there isn't a comparison!!! Kickin Crab is better than this place by a long stretch!! PLEASE SEE PICTURES as proof to further validate our review. 1. The front desk girl said the clusters were a nice size and very much worth the price. Wrong! The clusters were extremely small and salty (see pics) 2. The "sauce" was literally a bag of grease with butter and salt (see pic). 3. The crab fried rice entailed a crab leg poorly cracked and the crab dumped over the top of rice. Not to mention the crab leg-shell pieces left inside the rice for us to enjoy! Thanks but no thanks! 4. The "Garlic Noodles" Wow! These were LITERALLY thick, dry spaghetti noodles overly cooked with artificial minced garlic and butter on top!!! Nothing like the "Kickin crab" where fresh Garlic bulbs are used for the Garlic rice and sautéed to perfection. The noodles were terrible to say the least. 5. Clearly, the food was not worth $140! Today, the service was off. After I was seated no one checked on our table and the employees weren't welcoming or friendly. They were also moving at a snails pace. We had to ask for refills. There were tables not being cleared off and piles of trash were not being cleaned. The employees were taking personal calls on their phones. The kicker is that it wasn't even busy and there were a lot of empty tables. The table next to us was waiting 30 minutes for the check. Customer service is great but the food was eh. I ordered the gumbo , corn on the cob , garlic bread and the Cajun fried shrimp and French fries for my daughter . My fiancé had a pound of King crab, sausage , potatoes and a corn. My fiancé's only complaint was the medium spice barely packed any punch to him . By far this place has the best GUMBO!! I absolutely have for it. So, does my husband. We LOVE the gumbo. Today, we also tried the wings and garlic fries. That would make a great lunch option. My favorite place for seafood boil! The flavors and taste of the sauces, especially the crabshack style sauce, is always consistent and the spiciness is true to its level. It does get really busy so make sure you're not to hangry when you come. I always get combo number 2. This combo automatically comes with snow crab legs and then your choice of 3 items from clams, mussels, shrimp (peeled and unpeeled), and crawfish. I always get the mussels, unpeeled shrimp, and crawfish. For the sauce, I like crabshack style, which is a combination of all the seasonings they offer. I'll typically ask for the spiciness level to be at a medium, but if I'm with someone who can't tolerate spice, I'll ask for mild. The reason I do this is because, although the medium is not too spicy, we'll be eating a lot of it so it might becoming over powering to someone who doesn't typically like spice. Also, you can ask for a side of medium sauce if you really want that level of spice. This combo comes with 3 potatoes, 2 corns, and 4 sausages. This order is great when sharing with 2-3 other people and, with a side order of fries and rice, its very filling! I highly recommend it. The restaurant is almost always busy, so its very fast paced inside. It might not be the best for large parties, but if you all arrive promptly and/or don't mind waiting a bit, it can work! They do play pretty good music, mostly throwbacks and covers and they always have a game going on their TV. The staff is always polite and try their best to accommodate their customers, but you might have to repeat yourself a couple of times, esp during peak hours. Regardless, the food is really good and super worth it. One thing I would say they need to improve on is always checking to make sure there is soap in the bathroom. It is a seafood boil restaurant, so I'm sure they go through quite a bit of soap and they promptly provide it when reminded. read more

We found the Crab shack on Yelp and found that there was a new location on Artesia Blvd. We drove there after finishing shopping with hopes if getting a good Cajun meal. We did get some decent draft Lagunitas IPA, but the rest of the meal was not up to our expectations. We did get the complimentary Cajun fries for our Yelp check in. I should have ordered the fries plain without any seasoning. The cajun seasoning was overpowering and I don't think throwing cajon seasoning on things automatically makes it Cajun cooking. All it did was over power the natural flavor of the ingredients. Unfortunately all three of the so called Cajun restaurants in the Gardena area do the same thing. It is well worth the drive to Redondo Beach to get excellent Cajun cuisine. read more

Last night, 2/24 my family and I decided to have dinner, we ordered the mix seafoods with lobster and garlic noddles, upon receiving the order, we Noticed that the garlic noodles was too salty, we end up returning the order and switch it to regular fries but same s*** damn too salty also. Came in when it wasn't so busy, and was told to sign in. There were numerous empty tables and still, here we wait. There were reports of vermin in July 2018. Looked for health inspection sign that should be displayed, but I couldn't find it. Didn't see the sign until we left, it is posted in the window by cashier. Finally gave up being seated in a booth. Customer service is lack luster. I don't care if you are the owner. Isn't it beneficial to cater to the customer? We sat ourselves at the bar, and only after the manager/owner saw that I was posting a review in Yelp, did we caught their attention. They seated us in the back of the restaurant near the restrooms. They have two long tables set as reserved for large parties. Not sure is they do this regardless if there is a large party coming or not. Food was fair, crab cake had too many broken pieces of crabmeat instead of lumps of crab like it should have. Crawfish were fresh but were small in size. Oysters on half-shell were freshly shucked.
