Yes. This place is WAY more touristy than I usually opt for. But - we were in the most touristy part of Boston (Quincy Market) and I was hungry. Oh, and I guess I am a tourist, so I have a bit of an excuse there. My coworker had never tried clam chowder before, and the Oyster Bar had samples out front. She tried and really liked it - and suggested (since they had oysters) that we sit and have a bite to eat. I ordered a Sam Adams Alpine Spring (seasonal), a half dozen oysters, and we opted to share a bowl of the chowder. Item of note - Sam Adams and oysters pair perfectly! The oysters were fine. Blue tip from Long Island. Larger than most of the oysters I've seen here, but not as super sweet and creamy. But they were fresh, I watched them being shucked - no problem at all. The chowder was acceptable. Nothing to get excited about - and if this were a good representation of what New England Clam Chowder was supposed to be - it wouldn't be a big deal at all. There was nothing wrong with it - the texture was right, the flavors were all there - it was just a little "blah." Really, there was nothing wrong with this place. I don't regret the meal here. It really was A-OK. But I would not go out of my way to go back. Not with all the amazing oysters (at way lower prices) and fantastic chowdah in this city! read more

Definitely a must do in Boston when visiting the famous Quincy Market and Fanueil Hall. The hubbs and I had lunch at the Quincy Market location on our recent trip to Boston. We had the raw cherrystone clams on the halfshelf, clam chowder and lobster roll. The lobster roll was one of the best lobster sandwiches we've ever eaten. Large pieces of sweet lobster meat are cradled in a crusty, yet soft hoagie roll - the perfect backdrop for the lobster. The clam chowder was creamy and rich, with it's own sourdough bowl. Unless you are extremely hungry, I'd recommend getting the chowder on it's own. I ended up just wasting the lovely bread bowl because I chose to fill up on lovely clams. Oh, the clams .... sigh .... were amazingly sweet and briny ... wonderfully delish. I'd fly back to Boston any day for a taste of those cherrystone clams. Yeah, they are that good. As others have mentioned, the prices are a bit on the high side, but the food is definitely worth it. read more

Been back twice! Great chowdah and lobster bisque. Lobster rolls were all claw meat for $15 bucks! Best to have the roll with a side of chowdah. Beer on tap (rare in Quincey Market). next time will try the raw bar sa well. Small stall (with stools and zinc top bar), clean, does brisk service and all with a smile from the proprietor and staff. I can't believe it has taken me so long to try this out, given that I worked and lived around the neighborhood. Perhaps it's the "I'm local" me that tells me I'm not going to try the things that are in Faneuil Hall, particularly the ones that are meant to catch the eyes of tourists and out-of-towners. On this infrequent occasion that I need to go into the area, I finally give this a try, and boy, how pleasantly I was surprised. I ordered lobster bisque and shrimp scampi. The food was fresh, delicious and really flavorful. I'd say, it's far better than Legal Seafood, for what it's worth. Given the smaller potion, price is relatively expensive. ($7.95 for a bowl of lobster bisque, $13.95 shrimp scampi that comes with a freshly baked bread.) But hey, this is Faneuil Hall, it's not meant to charge "food court" low prices. Service is friendly and attentive. Counter space is small, hence it's cramped, but the food is really worth it. Parking is always a pain in downtown Boston, but Faneuil Hall is easily accessible by the T at the Government Center stop. If I'm in the area next time, I'll definitely visit again. read more

I was here on a vacation in Boston from China., enjoying the beautiful scenery and had a great day over all. I decided to stop by this place by my friends suggestion. I ordered the lobster wrap and oyster platter along with the clam chowder. The food was ok. I was wondering why they called it clam chowder without the clams. There were two men working. One twenty something year old and the other around forty years old.I gave my card to the older man and it was declined. His response to me right away was: "If you want to use the credit card insert, maybe you can go to China town." with a stern look on his face. So I paid with another card and left deeply disturbed. I was perturbed by this abhorrent comment. I didn't expect this on my trip in America. Through the three weeks I've been here, this has probably been my worst experience. read more

Very delicious chowder here. The best in my opinion at the quincy market. For about 8 bills you can get it in a bread bowl and eat the bread after if you wish. Very yummy and creamy chowder. The clam is fresh and clean. Their lobster roll was also very juicy and delicious although it was a bit pricey 16. The lobster Chunks are very big and juicy and overall complemented the clam chowder. AMAZING! Probably the only place in the Hall that has a place to sit down. Every time I am in Boston I make it a point to stop here and grab some chowder or bisque, both are great. I lve the atmosphere that they have created with adding the tiny bar, and its also a plus that they serve beer and wine, it is must after all the shopping we do there! I didnt give 5 starts because there were constantly people reaching in between us and food being passed in front of my face. This place is in the Quincy Market Food Hall. Sort of like a huge food court only long. It has a bar to sit at which the others don't have. They also have a liquor license & Sam Adams on tap. They serve lobster sandwiches, bisque and chowder. They even make fresh lobsters right there in what looks like a ship's galley of a kitchen. I loved this place. We were loyal customers for years. They had fresh lobster rolls with a generous serving on a nice crunchy roll. It wasn't cheap, but it was the best of Boston in our opinion. I brought friends and family here. The staff was usually the same, remembered us, and were friendly and helpful. Now there is one surly waitress who seems to be there all the time, and the others are only OK. They have changed the bread and for $14 you get a very small amount of lobster salad on a smaller roll. It tasted a little fishy for the first time ever. My friend got a lobster roll to go and they put even less on her roll. I suppose they thought we wouldn't notice before we left. This place has definitely gone down hill. I will find a new place to take my friends and family to. The owner used to be there on Sundays and was as friendly as ever. I wonder what happened to her. My Mom always loved their chowder and lobster bisque. I would be afraid to try it now. Another friend enjoyed their fresh oysters. Maybe I hit two bad days. Perhaps someone can talk to them. Save your money and go somewhere else. Lobster roll with clam chowder: Lobster in diluted mayo on a bed of lettuce and served on a cold stale roll. Srichacha (hot sauce) came to the rescue. My friends and I were walking the Freedom Trail and went through the Faneuil Hall. The place was so busy at 3pm and there was so much food stalls to choose from. We were craving for oysters and decided on the place with a small bar and a few stools. We first ordered a half dozen of oysters and they serve it with this delicious horseradish sauce. They were so succulent and fresh that we ordered another half. We also ordered the clam chowder, which was just ok, and the lobster roll which was quite good with a very generous serving of lobster.
