I went here last night with two of my girlfriends, and we had a really nice time. We arrived early and ended up staying for more than five hours, watching the Blackhawks game on one of the HD plasma screens that are placed all over the bar and having a grand old time. The service staff was super friendly all evening. To eat, we shared the hummus appetizer. Two of us had the mac and cheese for entrees, which was SO YUMMY. (I love all the different ways you can customize it to your liking...I opted for bacon and white truffle oil in mine.) My other friend had a flatbread pizza, which she said was great. We shared an order of the Reservoir Fries, which are made with Parmesan cheese and truffle oil: delicious. We shared three bottles of wine, which was also very good and reasonably priced. For dessert, we were surprised that there was no dessert menu. Our waitress asked us to wait when she "checked to see what they could do." When she returned, she said we could either have chocolate cake or Nutella crepes. We opted for the cake, which was delicious but SO TINY...seriously, less than two bites each for three people. My one big gripe with this place is the bathroom. While it was impeccably clean, there was a bottle of soap on the sink that was super watered down. I truly think someone had filled the soap bottle with water because it was almost empty, and they wanted to make it last instead of taking the time to walk across the street to the Jewel and buying a new bottle. I went to the bathroom twice and each time dealt with the watery soap situation. That really bothered me. Hand hygiene is not something that can be overlooked, especially in a restaurant/bar. The lack of soap aside, however, I really did like this place. It has a warm, friendly vibe, and the food is great. We stayed forever., and never felt at all rushed. I would definitely go back, but they better buy some more soap by then. read more

I was bowled over by the apps - the roasted Brussel sprouts and the calamari. Very good. They were out of the two burgers I wanted to try - the lamb and the quinoa/sweet potato. SoI opted for a flatbread and the flatbread was stale and the crispy onions were stale - the bbq sauce was really good, and the chicken was well seasoned but though. This sucker had been either frozen too long or under a lamp. I should have gone with a regular burger. Wonderful service though! read more

Great new place in Uptown, and definitely a breath of fresh air for the area! My boyfriend and I came here just after it opened on Friday around 4:30pm to try one of the Pumpkin Manhattans that Urban Daddy referenced in an article. It's not on the menu and it has essentially become their "signature drink" through the publishing of that article. It was a nice blend of Jim Bean, Pumpkin Puree, Simple Syrup, Cinnamon, Nutmeg, and a Maraschino Cherry. It wasn't overpoweringly pumpkin flavored, but it was a pleasant drink to have on a cool Friday afternoon. Nick, the bartender, was very friendly and enthusiastic when describing the process of his creation of this drink. They have a great offering of beer on tap and in the bottles, so after polishing off our Manhattans we decided to dive into the seasonal beers. My boyfriend went with the Sierra Nevada fall beer and I tried the Southern Tier Harvest Ale, both of which were delicious. Also, we noticed that they had Hopothesis' IPA on draft, which we haven't seen ANYWHERE, so we ordered this as well. As for the food, I can't comment on this too extensively, but we did try the "dipping frites" which came with a tasty aioli sauce and a spicy ketchup. They were promptly served up and delicious--no complaints here. The bartender (Nick) was great and the other servers dropped by to chat, which was nice. Everyone had a great attitude about the opening and seemed happy with its progress so far. The atmosphere is amazing, a gleaming and classy bar that seems so out of place for the area, but as I said, something the area greatly needed. Everything is brand new wood with classic leather backed seating, an impressive bar with a nice selection, and huge mirrors everywhere. They also don't skimp out on the TVs, so this would be a great place to head after work or on the weekend to catch a game in a relaxed environment. I can't really do this place justice with words alone, but you should definitely go check it out. I'll be back soon enough, as I can't turn down $5 craft beers and reasonably priced food. Very classy looking place. I came here on a Friday night with my fiancé and the place was pretty empty. They have very good food and drinks. I ordered a lemon drop martini and told the server I wanted something fruity and refreshing. All the cocktails on the menu were $11-$12 so I thought my drink may be somewhere around there if not less. They bring me a "specialty drink". It was pretty tasty but extremely watered down. I get the check- $14 for the drink. Wait.. What??? There goes a second visit from me. Even though I loved the food, I don't think I'll be returning to this place. They have amazing deals every day (i.e. half off bottles of wine and cheese/charcuterie boards on Wednesdays) and the food is always good quality. We love the Brussels sprouts and flatbreads. Used lo love this place, but last time was a disaster. We came here for dinner last time and I regretted it afterwords. Not sure if they changed kitchen stuff or just did not pay attention but everything tasted bad! The fried calamari appetizer was way over fried and dry! I had a steak with was burned and for some reason bitter. My boyfriend Tuna tasted and smelled like it was three or more days old and he was afraid to eat it... again, this is not my first tie there since we loved that place but not after this time. Drinks are never disappointment and they have great specials through out the week. Their menu has a great choice of wine and drinks. Great date spot, intimate and speak easy. Hidden away in Andersonville, the Reservoir could very much be a Lincoln Park transplant. Great hipster vibe ~ feel to it. We enjoyed the charcuterie board and French fries. Quite the combo; but I was there with 2 females who happened to make up their mind promptly, so that isn't something that I'm going to question. Had a great dinner here tonight. Walked in around 8:15 and we were told it would be about 20 minutes for a table. I think we were taken in about 15? I had tried to make a reservation earlier in the day but they only take them for parties of 6 or more Tables are a little cramped but it's a very nice atmosphere, kind of romantic even. Our server was very friendly and got our orders in right away. I think the drinks took a little long to get to us but our food was served pretty quickly. We ordered the El Jefe burger and the Lamb Burger. Both sandwiches were very delicious and I'm happy with our choice on the Reservoir Fries. We will probably be back soon. I always sit at the bar because I used to work in the industry and that's just how we roll ;) ! But the service and food quality have ALWAYS been FANTASTIC... 3.5 While I'm happy to have The Reservoir in my neighborhood, I'm admittedly underwhelmed by the food. When you pay $16 for a trumped-up salad, you expect it to be great - not solidly average. When we asked if we could sub grilled fish instead of fried for the fish tacos, we were told no as they come frozen in a bag. I do understand that not everything can be made-to-order, but it did give me some pause. And for the gluten-free, there's not too many attractive options - nothing that made my hungry stomach do back flips, anyway. Still, The Reservoir is an attractive restaurant that attracts quite the healthy crowds considering there's really nothing else like it in the near vicinity. It's a nice spot to enjoy a few drinks, though to me it feels much more restaurant than bar. I was happy to see several cider options on the menu, including two different craft ciders on draft. There's definitely room for improvement in terms of service and consistency, but overall the Reservoir is more than a-ok in my book! read more

We did the bottomless mimosa and brunch here awhile ago with a few friends. The bottomless deal is similar to others that you can get around the city. This is a far trek from downtown. Overall the food was okay, nothing great. The mimosas were good. Very basic. Would recommend this place only if you live in the area and want a decently priced bottomless mimosas brunch. If you live downtown you can find places that will cost you about the same amount but much better food. read more

Wow! I am so impressed and happy to welcome Reservoir to our neighborhood. I live a couple blocks away, and am thrilled to have a good restaurant with a great beer list and delicious food come to Uptown. They snuck in under my radar - I found out they had opened by doing a double-take when walking past with my dog. I just HAD to go for dinner. Between the three of us, we tried the steak au poive sandwich, the chicken club, and the mac-n-cheese special with burnt ends, as well as a couple drinks and the calamari starter. Everything was REALLY tasty. The calamari was fried but very light and not greasy, the club and steak sandwich were both really good, and the mac-n-cheese was OUT OF THIS WORLD. Seriously, I wanted to lick the bowl. To top things off, our server, Nick, was super friendly and nice, but without being annoying/clingy. He made us feel so welcome and we will definitely be back. It's a little loud and had a lot of TVs, but was gorgeous inside. I might avoid it on a night with a popular game on, not being a fan myself. Partner and I finally made it over Friday evening. We both loved the space. It's massive in volume if not not square footage which gives the feel of both space and coziness. The tables are actually pretty closely spaced yet one doesn't feel particularly crowded. While the wall opposite the bar is lined with an over-sized banquette, that's the only sound absorbing feature. As the evening drew on and the crowd grew the noise level increased exponentially. It's a fun energy filled vibe so I'm not taking away points, just pointing out it may not be one's first choice for a romantic intimate evening. I started with a martini and asked if they had blue cheese olives. Our waitress replied "We've got olives and we've got blue cheese...so sure I'll make some for you." Now that's what I call customer service. Partner perused the beer selections and commented that while the list was deep it wasn't particularly broad. I thought they had a serviceable wine list and ordered the pinot noir to accompany my burger. I liked the over sized glass which is great for enjoying a good wine. I could have done without the little caraf/cruet thing in which the wine arrived. (Wasteful, definitely not green.) We each ordered the Uptown Burger. We both thought it was very good. I thought the egg was superfluous and would have preferred an option without. The fries were very good too. Our server said the menu would be expanding. I emailed with my concern and did not receive even An acknowledgement. It saddens me to feel that I must then share my experience here. I have visited your restaurant many times and enjoyed it. However I felt insulted by the lack of thoughtfulness when I ordered delivery. The food was placed in containers that do not keep the heat. Of course was cold and gross. One of the things we order were a burger and the salad was soggy because it was put all together instead of separating thing so that it would travel well. Things could have been wrapped to show there was some thought about things arriving well. So disappointed. No napkins or utensils. Of course I have those things at home, but it just communicate lack of care. The food did not taste well. Looked so cheap and awful. Im so annoyed. You lost me as a costumer. read more

Came here on a date for dinner and drinks on a Friday night. The beer selection was excellent and the burgers were delicious! Also, the atmosphere was comfortable with a slightly upscale sports bar feel to it. The service was a bit slow but good, and overall the experience was great. Very friendly owner and staff. Reasonable prices for nice drinks, and for food. Pretty hefty selection of beers, wine and liquor. The menu like most bars is okay and a bit pricey once you get anything beyond appetizers, but the Reservoir Fries (parmesan sprinkled fries in truffle oil with aioli on the side) are terrific. Seating can be a bit limited once there's a crowd, and as with many bars you're gonna need to wrestle a bit for a bartender's attention once it's busy. This place is straight up trash. Came for bottomless mimosas and paid for 2 hours of bottomless mimosas and they tried to kick us out after 30 minutes. They quit bringing mimosas out and treated us like garbage after 30 minutes. They are very prejudice to the lgbt community and especially towards trans people. I went in to get the Lamb Burger everybody talks about in here, but end up getting a beef burger because it was a special for $5. Well, my burger came well done insted of medium well and it was too dry and even burnt on the outside. The waitress came too late to ask me how is everything. I already ate a good part of it when she came, but she did not offer to do it right anyway. A good restaurant would have dome something about it, I clearly showed I wasn't happy. Decent place. Food is good for a neighborhood watering hole. Service is earnest, but they seem on the verge of a melt down. Understaffed? They need more help or perhaps better management. The food was great, and they also offer bottomless mimosas on weekends from 10-2. Everything was super yummy, and they were fantastic as far as service goes. We had a group of 5 total, three of us had gotten there at 1130. The last of our group joined us at 1230, and then let us know that there was a 2 hour time limit per table. This is only for the Sunday brunch. Went there to try brunch after enjoying their dinners twice. They make a great burger. Sunday brunch was a much different experience. They have a bottomless mimosa special for $15. Called first to make reservations and the person on the phone said they dont take them for less than 8 people, but there should be no problem getting a table at that time. So we get their at 12:50 and no table to be found... so we were promised a 20-25 min wait. Normally we dont bother waiting but there really isnt anywhere else to go so we stuck it out. Long story short. We ended up waiting an hour with little communication. This was due to many just sitting around after their meals getting Mimosa refills. One table was playing Uno... really? And mgt had no problem with this and continuing to refill them. Meanwhile, people are waiting for tables with promised wait times that aren't close to being met. Once we got seated, service was Ok and mgt gave us each a card for a free drink after we ate for next time, but unfortunately that won't be enough to get us to ever try their brunch again. (You might want to also consider giving a discount or drink while we are waiting if this is really a one off rarity) But my suggestion would be to update their mimosa refill rule to 3 (other places do this and give a few extras as long as they are eating) or better yet, allow for reservations and have an area dedicated for reserved tables. But overall, watching everyone continue to sit and get ripped while people are waiting to get seated is unacceptable. Will return for the Wed wine and Thurs burger specials, but i will pass on the brunch and head to Lakeview next time (Lark is great). read more

Brutal. We went there with a large group for dinner for a special occasion. It took us 40 minutes to get our drinks and ultimately an hour to get our food. Food was meh at best. Maybe they do a better job for smaller groups but they seemed unprepared to handle ours.
