I ordered an avacado omlet with hasbrowns and white bread and it was amazing! You will get alot of food for the price you pay and it isn't even expensive. Very reasonable priced breakfast spot. They serve lunch as well. I had the chicken fried steak, it was tasty. My fiancé got the avocado burger, it was really good. So I happened to google "best breakfasts in Pasadena, ca" and a list of about 40 places populated for Pasadena. This place ranked around 20 if I believe. So we decided to give them a try based on reviews. First of all I am so glad that they have their own parking lot. 1 star for that. We were instantly greeted by the host and seated right away. 1 star for that. Our server/waitress was super sweet and very friendly. She kept the coffee coming and my mug never went empty. 3rd star for that. The 4th comes from the food being just fantastic! It's a small diner feel with a great atmosphere. I had the bacon avocado and Swiss omelette and my boyfriend had the the ham breakfast. The best there is! The prices are great and the portions are phenomenal! My final star comes from the fact that we didn't have to be constantly asking for refills or even our check. Everyone here is so aware of what's going on in the diner and isn't afraid to be talk to their guests. Thank you for being so down to earth and keeping a small town feel in a big city. We need more places like you in existence in LA to take us away from the big city feel. :) thank you! read more

Breakfast here is cheap, fast, and good. I enjoyed my omelette, it was a good size, not too big and over filling, the hash browns were pretty much on par for the norm, and the banana bread with a pad of butter was delicious. My buddies who are somewhat french toast connoisseurs swore this was the best they've had all over California, and boy have they had their share. Did I mention it was cheap? Finally we have a decent Vietnamese restaurant in Pasadena. I don't have to drive to SGV!!! This place looks like a cute diner and they do serve breakfast in the morning. The wait staff are nice and friendly. I went for dinner and I ordered pork chops marinated in lemongrass--it was pretty darn tasty. For $8, you get 2 pork chops, steamed veggies and rice. Yum! This place is soo delicious! I am very picky with my pho and the filet mignon pho at this place just blew me away. I love the lemongrass vermicelli and the spring rolls, too. I really do love this cafe. they serve amazing breakfast and really take care of their customers. The cafe is very home like and cozy, so you feel like your having good food right at your own home. I always get the omelets, which are quite large, and their coffee. As a plus, their restrooms are extremely clean. I'm am writing this review with the hope that someone who manages The Reyn might take heart to make improvements. There are so few good diner-like cafes in Pasadena, and The Reyn, which I have frequented many times in the past, used to be one of them. However, over the last year or so there have been 2 major problems that have gotten worse and worse. The first is the preparation of the food. In the last few visits I have received orders that have been wrong, or tasteless, or cold. And for some reason the cook can NOT scramble an egg. I kept getting scrambled eggs with huge sections of unblended (and in some cases uncooked) whites. If your short order cook can't scramble an egg then there is a problem. The second issue is the noise. If you're lucky enough to get there early you may not notice an issue, but if you get there when the place is packed (which it usually is on the weekend since it's the only place around for miles) then the noise is deafening. read more

Despite the odd rundown diner ambiance, the food and service was pretty good and I will most likely be going back the next time I have a craving for Pho and don't want to drive too far. A friend and I both ordered the beef Pho which had super tender strips of beef. Had breakfast there for the first time this morning. It was great. Short wait, maybe 10 minutes max. We sat at the counter and had Theresa as our waitress. Had at least four other people taking care of us for coffee, ice water, etc. This place hustles. I am sure these waitresses have worked here for years, they have everything down pat and know what everyone has ordered. Kind of fun to watch them from the counter and their interaction with the cooks. We both had omelets with the fruit bowl. I had the veggie with added avocado. It was huge. I only ate a third of it and brought everything else home. My husband had the bacon, Swiss and avocado omelet and after he tasted mine, he knew I made the better choice. Both were good but mine had so much more flavor because of all the flavor so. Hubby had the banana bread as bread choice, we still haven't tried it, also brought it home. But did notice that is what everyone orders for their bread. It is a favorite and a specialty. Guess you must order it. Go in with a huge appetite, portions are big, cost is low.
