The Small Cafe is a cozy little diner right off 2nd street once you enter Naples. I've never heard about it before until someone suggested I check it out, so I went there with my family and gave it a shot. I've heard it's really more of a breakfast joint but we went there for dinner. There was only one waitress there and her name was Tory. She was so warm and friendly that she really made our experience there so much more enjoyable. She talked to us for a while in the beginning and I could tell that she really liked working there, which is a huge indication of how the business is run overall. She mentioned that there are a lot of regulars who have been coming for many years, and I totally see why. Our food came out fast, but the quality was excellent. My Dad ordered the meatloaf, my Mom ordered the Santa Fe salad and I had the burger streak. We each tried eachother's food and honestly no one was disappointed. The portions are very generous, and the quality was great. I'm not sure if all the waitresses are as friendly, but if they are anything like the one we had, I will definitely be going here for a long time. A great local place for breakfast. It has the best corned beef hash I have ever eaten and that alone is worth the visit. Pancakes and eggs benedict are also very good. The cafe is a bit on the small side but they told you that in the name. There is outside seating avaliable and they are OK with you bringing your dog to hang out with you while you eat too. A great community needs their own great local diner and the Small Cafe is it. Perfect for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with great owners who have been there for a long time. For the most part the staff is great and make you feel at home, even the cooks. Although one waitress in particular Caitlin (sorry for spelling if incorrect) can come off annoyed and even sometimes cold or rude, being a waitress thats definitely not how you want to come off. Besides her, everyone else is quite lovely. They also make a burger to die for, oh wow. They usually have sports playing, which is great, and even though they do only accept cash there is an ATM in that little center. Small on price, big on taste! I love this place and have been coming here for years. The waitresses are all super friendly. I have ordered lots of different breakfast and lunch items but my favorites are the corn beef hash and hangover scramble. The girls work their butts off from what I can tell and even when its busy they always hustle to get my food out on time and make sure I have everything I need. Would you rather eat Denny's or a quality cafe? The choice to me is simple and the price is the same, not to mention the waitresses are much friendlier. I see a lot of the same people when I eat here so it's obvious they do a good job and get a lot of repeat customers. Absolutely amazing food! Had the breakfast combo with French toast and sausage, all very delicious. Sausages were cooked perfect and came in thick juicy pieces, the French toast missing just a pinch of cinnamon but with the icing and butter definitely a 9/10 some of the best French toast I've had. My girlfriend got the eggs and chicken combo, whoever the cook was working on that chicken definitely knows how to cook! Service was great! I love this place! Dining here for breakfast on the weekend is now part of my routine. I love the Farmers Market omelet and if you're there on a lucky day when the breakfast special is chilequiles, ORDER THEM!!! Absolutely delicious if you enjoy spicy food. Just had a late lunch here. The food and service was fantastic. I have been here three times and have never had a bad experience. The beer comes with an ice cold mug, which I love. Truly crave worthy yummy cinnamon roles, lovely and soft with delicious icing and not overly sweet, also great chocolate chip and oatmeal cookies and I love the berry crumble. I also like their breakfast and their quiche is quite lovely. The only challenge is that it's cash only - but there's an atm in the same complex. A friend and I tried this place yesterday and I liked it. The cafe is tiny, and I mean tiny. Maybe six tables, plus some counter space. I got the cinnamon roll french toast. So good. Warm, a little gooey, and the cinnamon to sugar ratio was perfect. And I loved the hash browns. For me, hash browns can make or break the meal. Seriously. And these made the meal. my bf and I rode our bikes here for a weekend breakfast. We were able to get seated right away which was nice because I was starving. My order was a bit complicated but the waitress was very nice and she told me that they could do all the things I was asking for. The service after that was a little lacking. Found the place in the entertainment book. Trying to do my own internal stimulus so any $$$ I can save will help my household economy. Arrived around two and the place was pretty empty. It was obvious there had been a rush in the morning, with the typical small pieces of toast and food debris scattered around, nothing that would make me go ick. A few of the tables were only partly bussed and still needing a wipe down. After sitting down and ordering I began to notice the build of of grime and grit. And I am not talking about the stuff from the morning rush, I am talking about stuff that has not been cleaned. The high chairs had a dark grime around the top. The TV was smeared with grease and dirty streaks. The counter had food jammed between the menu holders and counter top. The corners of the floor...well you get the point. The espresso machine had a build up on the steamer and the machine was splattered with milk and coffee. And it was not fresh coffee or milk. The area on the wall where the beer and wine was displayed had dust thick enough to write this review. I ordered a patty melt. The burger was OK, seasoned well but thin and small. It had trouble filling the two slices of bread. The bread was toasted well but there was way too much grease in the bread. It was almost possible to suck it out. The grease overpowered most of the flavor of the burger. The side order of fruit was helped redeem this meal. Having once worked in the restaurant field, I was a little disappointed to have the waitress pour ranch dressing out of an almost empty gallon container...at least give me the perception it is made in house. The service was pleasant. She spent most of her time talking with another waitress. I assumed she would be restocking the syrup (they were on the counter and mostly empty) from the gallon full container-it said to keep refrigerated however was out for the whole hour we were there. The bill for two burgers came to $20. The coupon dropped it to $10 and I left five bucks for the waitress. The food would be good value at $10, not $20. Guess I was just expecting more for my money. I've been here twice. Once on a weekend day and once on a week night. The weeknight was better. There was a somewhat unusual girl serving but she was nice enough. Food was ok but the prices were high for the fact that you're eating in a diner. The weekend visit was a disaster. Service was HORRIBLE. It was like we weren't even there. My friend who is a regular says that the woman who was our waitress is also one of the owners. She would have to be because any waitress that bad would have been fired long ago. I will not be coming back here, unless I feel like getting ignored. You know Hof's Hut is right down the street and has better food and service for the same price. Came in while waiting for my car to get washed (Naples Car Wash). Service was friendly but slow. The food took around 20-30 mins to get out. Table was kind of sticky when I came to sit in. This place is right next to where I work. So when I am too lazy so swing by home to have my lunch, I wander over to get a bite at The Small Cafe. The meat loaf I had here the first time was pretty good. And I have always enjoyed getting chili cheese fries from here. They even cut up some onions and sprinkle it on top for me. Service was solid. They always asked me if I needed water and it is nice running into people from the community. I guess this place loses a star because it is a little pricey for a lunch. But, seeing as how this is a small independent business I can understand. Also, not serving breakfast all day is a bummer for me since I can eat breakfast at any time. I have ridin' my bike by this place many many times and I'm drawn to it mostly because I find the name unpretentious and charming. So last Monday morning I was undecided between breakfast at Boubouffe's (I know they have a great dinner menu and good service) and this small cafe and chose to come here for the standard breakfasty options. Well first thing, there was no bike rack nearby. We had to chain our bikes to the leg of the park bench and let me tell you it was quite a mission (thank goodness we don't have a U-shaped lock). Secondly, when we sat down outside no one had greeted us for a while. The only server finally came out (I noticed she was on the computer doing some personal business) and because the table was dirty she had to wipe it down. Well she put our napkins/silverware on the dusty basket of jam only to leave it there and not set the table again! *gripe. After figuring out what I wanted I went inside to the bathroom to wash my hands and when I walked out she looked up from the screen to ask me if we were ready to order! *another gripe. If you're going to be preoccupied on the computer, make sure your customers get your attention first and don't be un-freakin'-professional! It seems like the same Caitlin girl in some of the other reviews... she acts like she's inconvenienced by helping the customers and I never once saw a smile on her face... she does her job, as mediocre as possible, just to pay the bills. I even heard her ask another table "so do you want that or not?" Yikes! Another thing (not the restaurants fault) but still aggravating... my friend was on the phone and her boyfriend had just mentioned that he got sick and vomited. Well, in shock, I asked her (somewhat loudly I admit) "What? He puked?" An idiotic douchebag at the table next to us leaned to the side so I could see his face and motioned shaking his head with his hand under his chin (universal sign for don't). I said sorry but I wish I had replied with "we're outside and I can say whatever I want. If your weak stomach can't handle it then don't listen to our conversation!" An OK place, I ordered their Francisco burger and it was pretty good. I like their potato salad, and how they use grilled sourdough for the burger. The restaurant itself was nice and quiet, and I agree that it does take a little bit longer for them to cook the burger, but then again this isn't a McDonald's where they have 20 hamburgers ready to go. We live in the South Bay & some friends from Orange County called & wanted to meet us for lunch. I did a quick yelp search & based on the reviews this place sounded great. Unfortunately it didn't work out so well for us. The food was just fine, but the service was unbelieveably bad. Simple special requests on the food (for example, "no onions") completely ignored, things had to be asked for several times (Could I get an extra spoon?), drinks not refreshed. Made worse by the fact that the place is small, we were seated in a corner where all the sound was bouncing off the walls, and we were treated to two screaming children whose parents have obviously learned to tune them out rather than take them outside for a minute. We even asked the waitress to speak to the party in question, but all she said was "Oh, they're getting ready to leave". Yeah, try 20 minutes later. What a shame, I really wanted to like this place, but it wasn't the relaxing meal we were hoping for. With so many great places still to discover with Yelp's help, we won't be going back to this place. read more

I have been to some dive cafes before but this one takes the cake. I was purchasing a cup of coffee in the morning and was brushed off more than one time by the server, so I had a chance to check the place out a bit. My senses told me i was not in a very clean environment. The counters were sticky and they were making pastries next to the customers so they had to eat around the mess. I noticed the coffee cart was also very sticky with the remnants of flavor creamers, sugar wrappers, and dirty spoons. I just went there for a cup of coffee and left with the knowledge to NOT eat here. I should have made my own coffee that day. read more
