They literally refused to give us water. After we bought many expensive drinks for a group of 6, they said the only option for water is a $3 water bottle. I didn't let the issue go - because they HAVE to give you water, after multiple conversations, and pushing the issue, the bartender begrudgingly finally gave us water. They were so rude and very angry that we asked for a glass of water. Terrible treatment of customers - and extremely annoying. Great atmosphere. Always superb service from staff! We love to go to The Well to enjoy good music with great DJs and hangout with friends. The drink menu cocktails with fresh squeezed juices and late night bites are always a treat. The chicken sandwich with spicy aioli sauce is a must have. The Well Burger is amazing! Amazing place, service and people! The Well hosted a dual birthday party for the famous Patti Negri and I. We were blown away. They created special signature cocktails for us. Super-cool owner Vincent got us a deal on the parking next door for all the guests, and they had a ton of other perks. Everyone felt welcome. The staff were really nice. No pretension, no BS. First time there, only went for a friend's bday, because was put off by the bad reviews the place got, and more so by the very very rude remarks back from the owner in his response! Who does that?! How do you expect repeat buisness, if you can never accept any responsibility for your bar!!! A very narcissistic attitude. Venue is cool, DJ was too, but waiting for 20mins at the bar for service is ridiculous when it wasn't packed! The blonde lady saw me, put her hand up as if to say 1 minute, but then never bothered to come back. The other guy with dreadlocks only seamed to stay on the other side of the bar. I had eye contact with the young black guy who was in and out helping the bartenders, and even put my hand up, you'd think he'd have come over or alerted a Bartender, but nope! I gave up, not worth my time or my money. Another friend waited longer in a different spot at the bar for a margarita that was about $20 I believe from an older man who finally served her she said. I drank water out of that tall glass jar, and we left about an hour later to go to another spot with a live band, where service was great and drinks were cheaper. It's a great spot. Very low key. I have only been here on a week night and it was great. There are booths all around so you can easily have a date night or sit at the bar and mingle. It was easy to find a seat. From what I heard weekends might be different as they have jazz night. So I imagine it gets a little loud. Week night, it's one of my favorites in Hollywood. read more

This place is awesome! I was looking for a place to host my birthday at after Covid ruined having one last year. After getting jerked around at other potential venues I remembered that a lady friend who is very hard to impress had mentioned this is her favorite bar in LA so I went in to ask if it was a possibility. Flash forward, Vincent the owner turned out to be the coolest most welcoming guy and set me up with the best birthday party I've ever had: He set us up in their private area in the back that spills out into the main bar so you get the best of both worlds and he had the bartender make some special drinks to serve just for my party, themed after my personality and printed on a picture of me from social media. My friends loved it and we had the best time! The bar is really classy and inviting, the ladies in our group particularly liked the vibe and I'm pretty sure two of my friends who met there that night fell in love and I think the classy atmosphere where the friendly bartenders are super welcoming and treat you like a king only facilitated the magic. The food is great and well priced, the drinks are great, and it's very obvious to me that Vincent takes pride in every aspect of this place because every little detail is immaculate and the staff is well chosen, friendly, and attentive unlike many LA bars. Like my friend who suggested this place, I now agree that, yes, this is my favorite bar in LA. It would be a good spot to take a date or an an old friend from out of town, or to finish up the night after a crazier place because you can actually have a conversation here and enjoy yourself rather than scream. I love this place. The owner Vincent hosted my farewell party here. The food and drinks were amazing. The security guy was so pleasant he even accompanied me to the outside ATM to withdraw money so I was safe HOW AWESOME WAS THAT!!! Love the music, love the food, love the drinks. I found The Well a few years ago, after seeing a movie with friends over at the Arclight. It was perfect for us, loved the ambiance, it has this swanky, dim lighting vibe, so it's a nice date night spot if you want to be able to have a good time and also talk, it had the perfect mix of being live but also chill at the same time. Also, good food and good drinks. I'm seeing a couple of reviews mentioning The Well having issues with race. I can't speak for everyone, but I've been there with a group of like 5-6, and even up to maybe 10 people at a time. We legit had no issues. We don't stand on couches and wild out, but we're also not the quietest bunch, as we laugh and joke when we're out, and everything was cool. And we're all Black. Again, this is more of a chill spot, it's not pretentious per se, but it's also not a "turn up" spot, where you can dance on couches, tables and stuff. There's plenty of spots in Hollywood for that, this is a much needed alternative option. I am talking pre-pandemic times, so I haven't been as of late, but I at least wanted to be fair and give an honest account of the experiences I've had at The Well. **Update: Just wanted to add, I think it's cool for all (legal to drink) ages, it's chill, so even if your parents were in town, they'd feel comfortable hanging out with you here. read more

I love dark, intimate, neighborhood bars and this is an awesome one! Happened in on a taco Tuesday night and was pleasantly surprised by the tacos. Really good and a variety to choose from. The vibe is really cool and there were plenty of booths. The music was outstanding (mostly 80s favs) and the tv was playing old school music videos with the sound off. The bartender was awesome and even though it was taco Tuesday, she offered to get food that was on the regular menu if we wanted. I'll definitely be back. read more

Beautiful ambiance. When I first walked in I was in awe of how elegant and dark it was. Much needed change from your average loud bars. Our bartender was amazing. I call her miss kiwi because she's from New Zealand and I didn't get her actual name. But what ver I asked for, she double checked to make sure she had all the ingredients and if not she recommended something just as good. The tacos are out of this world. We came in on a Tuesday so it was taco Tuesday, I got lobster and blackened shrimp both of which was so good but I preferred the blackened shrimp more. Perfect size too they were street taco size. Neat little bar across the street from the Hollywood Palladium. It gets packed pretty quickly in here but the service is good and the drinks are made right. Ordered a few Jack and Cokes and the bartender made them strong. They also have food, I only tried one of the street tacos that our group had. It was pretty good. Seating is a bit weird, there are half booth type seats along the wall, some spots to stand around but they get claimed very quickly. Summary: Great Happy Hour prices. Friendly bar staff. Place gets hopping into the evening on weekends. Definitely dark inside, but still a cool place. Food looked good, too. My wife and I went here for the first time on a Friday at around 5pm before catching some dinner and a show at the Pantages. We found it on Yelp while trying to look for some Happy Hour options in the area. There were $6 wine and champagne options, as well as affordable well drinks and a couple of beers. Inside, the atmosphere is dark with the focus on the big U-shaped bar. We could tell there were some regulars in attendance, and as the evening progressed the place filled up and became alive with conversation. The bartender was friendly and poured generously, and the food that came out for others looked good. Super cute environment- feels exclusive given the nature of their "hours" (or lack thereof) and the dimly lit interior + general lack of crowd + great music. The drinks are super basic and not amazing (their specialty cocktails are really just well drinks with different names) but the overall vibe is dope and a really cool, intimate date spot! Everything else has pretty much been said in the other reviews already. But I'm really disappointed with this jukebox. Lacked a lot of options we tried to input, specially Latino music. Idk what subscription it uses to generate its music options, but a mixed group of us were disappointed in it not finding songs we wanted to play, as we were having a good time. I had a unique experience. I have a friend who recently just immigrated to the USA, and to Los Angeles. I don't live in LA, but I searched for a nice bar to buy a "welcome gift" for my friend. I wanted to do something local rather than a chain establishment. I called and was lucky enough to speak to the owner who understood what I was trying to do. He went way above and beyond to help with my request. I was able to pre-pay a bar tab for my friend. My friend was able to visit, and have some food and drinks and some great hospitality by the staff. Service like this is hard to find these days. This is a really great bar with a perfect location for many Hollywood entertainment options. It's RIGHT across the street from the Palladium, which is why we picked it! We took turns walking outside to check the line to get into a show. It's the perfect bar to pre-game before a concert! Also walking distance from the Hollywood/Vine metro station. Happy hour goes until 8, which is awesome because happy hours that end at 6 aren't very happy. Well cocktails are $6, beer specials are $4 and wine is $6. We got a few orders of onion rings, too. Ambiance is dark and cozy and the bartenders were all very nice and friendly. I was surprised we could get seats at the bar and it wasn't more packed at happy hour time than it was. Attire - For a lounge in Hollywood, this place was pretty casual (saw beanies, caps, and tees). However, I'd play it safe and go business-casual at least so no t-shirt, boardshorts or flip-flops for me. Plus, you never knew if there was any hook-up possibilities! Overall, The Well left me wishing for something more as it just didn't stand out among all the other lounges in Los Angeles. They had a daily happy hour (5pm-9pm) and 2-for-1 drink specials Sunday-Thursday, but the deals weren't that spectacular. I was surprised by the extent of the food menu but nothing that wowed me (I'd order the onion rings again out of principle). I found decent value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (total bill was around $85.00 before discount and tip).
