Yesterday I went to Three Stacks and a Rock Brewing and was very unhappy with my experience. The male bartender working was cussing very loudly which concerned me because I had my child with me. I thought he may be drunk by the way he was acting and when I ordered my beer and food I could smell alcohol on his breath and watched him take MULTIPLE shots of beer in front of all the customers. The thing that really bothered me was that he was openly criticizing the owners (calling them idiots) to the customers that were sitting at the bar. Towards the end of the meal the customers at the bar seemed to be getting overserved and was getting very rowdy with the bartender which made me feel uncomfortable with my child being there. I'm giving two stars because the beer and hot dogs were very good but the atmosphere made me very uncomfortable. read more

Oh and the menu consisting of gourmet hot dogs and fresh local baked pretzels are delicious! They offer several choices of their own in house brews and have several guest taps to choose from. This place could not be cooler! I would have never known it was there but I kept seeing all these awesome logo shirts around town... I had to, at least, get me a shirt. But once inside, the folks working inside were so awesome and inviting that I got a crowler to take home and share! They poured it icy cold right then and there and I could not WAIT to share it with my family. While I was waiting on the fill'er-up of Marine Layer, I chatted with the workers and they told me about the daily menus and the special events that they hold. If we didn't already have dinner plans (complete with the beer) I would have come back that night for the food! Had to wait for my next visit to Morro Bay in order to try some of the food. Worth the wait. Bratwurst had the perfect snap and those tater tots!! Served up with some cheese, meats and basic charcuterie bites. I saw some fellow beer drinkers eating these fantastic nachos too... I will be back for those!! I love LOVE love the logo, which is what brought me in.... but then they go and up the ante with great beers, and a cherry on top of FANTASTIC food!! This is one of my must-go places in Morro Bay!!! They have a red ale!!! I cannot emphasize enough how excited I was to find a brewery with something other than an IPA, and I love red ales. This one was delicious. I also had a very tasty bratwurst, which perfectly complemented the beer. The bartender was super nice, and they set up a heat lamp out on the patio for me. I was toasty warm for the whole sunset. Comfortable vibe in this small,local brewery that's just had a change of hands. They have barrel-top tables with small succulent potted plant on each. The brewery is located in a small space in a strip mall. Small fermenting tanks are prominent decor. When we visited a couple of days ago, a flat-screen television on the wall had a football game playing. A few people were chatting at the bar stools, and a few others were deep in conversations and enjoying their glasses of brew. There were two lists: the in-house beers and the brews from other breweries. Since I tend to favor full-bodied brews, we tried a pint of the chocolate porter. It was okay, but not as big on specific gravity as other dark ales that I am accustomed to. In body, it was more akin to, say, a brown ale., instead of other porters and stouts that I've had. Maybe, at best, it's similar to a Scottish wee-heavy. This may be an example of brewing a porter for people who normally drink lagers and IPA's. I only visit the area occasionally. I will be interested in trying other beers they produce as they settle into their space and further define their taste profile identities of their product. read more

What a hidden gem! It took word of mouth from a local for us to find this place, and we are so happy we did. Nestled in the corner of a bright, cheerful strip mall, Three Stacks has all you need for some fun day drinking: good local beers, delicious pub bites, patio, and dog friendly. They have their house brewed beers and rotational ones that come and go. The ambiance is cute and they love pups. Everyone needs to try the nachos, looks like they could feed four but we easily ate most of it the two of us! Delish! This is now a must stop for us on our Morro Tour.
