On one of the last days my wife and I were in Hawaii, we were feeling snack-y and opted for happy hour nearby Waikiki, where we were staying. Tiki's Grill & Bar was about five minutes away from where we were staying, and had solid reviews, especially for Happy Hour! We walked upstairs, where the restaurant is, and were seated close to the veranda, with a nice view of the beach. We ordered a couple drinks, including the Blue Hawaii and Mai Tai, both of which were nice and sweet - the Mai Tai was definitely much stronger than the Blue Hawaii, and I'd recommend that one. The Kahlua quesadillas and coconut shrimp were solid HH options, but the winner was definitely the Furikake Fries! Although relatively simple with a chipotle sauce and furikake, we loved them and had two orders. Service was friendly, and the vibe was fantastic on a day we just wanted to chillax. Went here on a Monday night with a reservation and we were seated immediately. Loved that we were seated outdoors near the live music for a complete experience while in Hawaii!! For appetizers, we got the Ahi Poke Wonton Sliders, they were so good, fresh, and very flavorful!! I could eat like 10 of them!! For our entrees, I got the Slow Roasted Prime Rib, medium rare, it was good. The only thing I wish was it would melt in your mouth while eating it, it was kinda tough to chew. (I guess I got too spoiled from House of Prime Rib) but other than that the flavor is there, mash and spinach on the side were a great addition to it. My best friend got the Thai Shrimp Puttanesca, and she loved how there was a lot of seafood in it, and very delicious. For cocktails, we got the Lava Flow and Hula Girl Mai Tai which were great, and was happy to be able to take the mug home! This restaurant is a convenient place for when you are staying in Waikiki. February 20, 2026 Good evening, If you're reading this, I strongly encourage you to reconsider spending your money here. My family and I made a dinner reservation and, from the moment we arrived until the final 15 minutes of our stay, the experience was pleasant. The front staff was welcoming, and our waitress was incredibly kind, attentive, and accommodating. When checking in for our reservation, we clearly communicated that we were waiting for a fifth member of our party. In many restaurants, you aren't seated until the entire party arrives which is understandable. However, we were assured this would not be an issue and were seated promptly. When our waitress came to the table, we reiterated that we were waiting on one more guest. Again, we were told it was not a problem. She was even thoughtful enough to stagger our order so our food would remain fresh and hot for everyone. Approximately two hours into our visit with a $400 tab already accumulated and while actively ordering additional food and drinks we were approached by General Manager Albert Ake. He informed us that there is a strict two-hour limit on reservations and that we needed to close out and leave within 15 minutes. We were genuinely taken aback. The restaurant was nearly empty, with multiple open tables both inside and outside. Rather than offering a solution such as moving us to another available table so our party could comfortably finish our meals and drinks we were told we had to leave. We were still eating. What was most disappointing was not the policy itself, but the lack of communication and professionalism. At no point during the reservation process, at check-in, or during service were we informed of a two-hour limit. There was no signage posted, no acknowledgment required when booking, and no reminder from staff. Clear communication at the outset would have allowed us to make an informed decision whether that meant adjusting our reservation time or dining elsewhere. As someone who managed restaurants for five years, I understand that policies exist for a reason. However, effective management also requires tact, flexibility, and customer-focused solutions. Unfortunately, none were offered. The approach felt dismissive and unnecessarily rigid, especially given the circumstances and the empty dining room. This situation could have been handled far more professionally with simple communication and basic customer service skills. I hope management takes steps to clearly communicate reservation policies moving forward through booking platforms, visible signage, and staff training so future guests are not placed in the same uncomfortable position. And just in case I wasn't clear : Policies are understandable. Poor communication and inflexible management are not. I almost didn't go here because the rating wasn't that high. I don't know why it isn't rated a lot higher. The ambiance is a retro tiki throwback vibe and perfect for a last night in Waikiki. The staff are all friendly, from the hostesses to the busers and the waitresses. We were there at 8pm and really enjoyed the live music. Our group all had steak, lobster, lamb and desserts. We then ordered entrees and 5 min after the entrees came to the table, the general manager came over and told us we needed to leave because they needed the table and we had been there too long!
