Tikiyaki is a teriyaki restaurant. Their menu consists of chicken teriyaki, orange chicken, volcano chicken, shrimp, coconut shrimp, steak, short ribs, and egg rolls. For chicken teriyaki, you can choose white meat for $1 extra. Bowls are served with your choice of white or brown rice. Plates are served with sticky rice or brown rice along with cabbage salad and egg roll. Their food is cooked to order so everything comes out fresh and hot. I ordered the Chicken Teriyaki bowl which was served with sticky rice. Great portion of the chicken. Most of the pieces of chicken were tough and chewy. The teriyaki flavor was deeply embedded into the chicken so there was no need for extra sauce. The rice was sticky as advertised and was also soft. They have a few tables inside with some tables outside. It was viciously cold inside the restaurant. The service was good. The cashier seemed a bit stern but the other female employee was friendly. I didn't finish the bowl due to most of the chicken pieces being tough and chewy. I don't think I'll be back anytime soon. read more

Tikiyaki deserves a unanimous 5 stars. I work in the area and every time I stop here for lunch it's pretty busy but the service is quick. My go to is the chicken and steak bowl (or plate) and it never disappoints. This place is a gem because when compared to a Waba Grill or Flame Broiler there is no comparison. The chicken and steak are full of flavor and there are always good portions given. The rice is well cooked and has a light sweetness to it that compliments the protein you get, and the cabbage that comes with the plate has a light dressing that makes it more than bearable if cabbage isn't usually your thing. Most importantly, the food is priced very well for the amount of food and the quality that you get. As I continue to go to this location I feel confident in trying other items on the menu. I ordered their volcano chicken plate and when I arrived home, my food was still piping hot. In terms of the actual food, it was delicious. The chicken was juicy, crispy, and seasoned well. The egg roll was crispy, moist, and paired well with the habanero sauce that I got on the side. The salad added an acidity component to the dish to cut down on all the fat from the chicken. 5 stars because I came with no expectations and was very pleasantly surprised. The staff was very friendly and the food was really good. I ordered the Volcano Chicken and it certainly didn't disappoint. If you make your large bowl or Volcano bowl (only 1 size) a combo, the fountain drink is about .65 cents or so. The food takes about 15 minutes and they have a sign that states everything is made fresh to order. So be patient. The volcano chicken is like a spicy orange chicken...but way better. I've read from reviews that you can request it spicier. I will be doing that next time for sure. I also tried the egg rolls and they were good. Their sweet and sour dipping sauce seems to be made in house, and it was tasty as well. I will definitely be back and perhaps try the volcano shrimp, or the teriyaki chicken. read more

After being blown away by King's Teriyaki, I wasn't sure if any other teriyaki place could quite compete. Tikiyaki proved me wrong, with a slightly different way of approaching the whole business. Getting here is a bit of a pain, as it's off Tustin which is crowded and every turn is often a long wait in a suicide lane. Parking wasn't hard to come by, as the shopping center it's in has plenty of spots. The location is fairly small, with perhaps six tables inside and luckily a few outdoors. Service here is what I found to be most lacking, with something akin to what you'd find at a fast food restaurant: basic, inattentive, and mistake-prone. Still, the food itself was delightful and cheap, and that's what I come for! I got the volcano chicken bowl, which was like orange chicken with a bit of a chili flavor. Not spicy at all but a good flavor and well-made chicken. I also tried a steak and chicken bowl here, which comes with HEAPING quantities of chicken and steak, cut into long thick ribbons. I find this shape is a little bit harder to eat than King Teriyaki's bite-size chunks, but is still good nonetheless. The steak pieces were a bit chewy, but for the price it was still a steal. The teriyaki sauce has a good natural flavor, not sickening sweet like most places (Flame Broiler for example). Overall I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for good teriyaki in Orange! read more

The first thing you learn when going to Tikiyaki is that it is best to phone ahead and pick up. If you go in to order and wait, it'll be a bit because it takes time to make good food fresh so that it's not sitting in a steam table for hours. Due to their process the food is amazing with generous portion sizes. As a family of three we usually split the combo plate of chicken and beef with rice and veggies as well as a orange chicken bowl and some times an order of egg rolls. The Volcano chicken plate beckoned me. I was pleased that it came with an egg roll, salad choice of rice and a huge pile of chicken. Unlike Flame Broiler that comes with a crappy cabbage salad, the salad here was excellent. The egg roll was good, as well. The brown rice was very tasty but the star was the volcano chicken. Very crispy and piping hot, but the crust did not overpower the white meat chicken. Very tangy sauce made my usual soy sauce and Sriracha unnecessary.
