One of my weekly go-to's. I love this place. I always get the #5 (chicken and steak combo with white rice). I recently tried the egg rolls and the coconut shrimp and they were also fantastic. The volcano sauce is also so good (it's like a sweet/slightly spicy pepper sauce). Try getting the habanero (spicy teriyaki sauce) for your bowl if you like spicy. This place never disappoints. This place is great for a simple fix of chicken teriyaki. It's been a while since I last came here but the quality is still consistent from what I remembered. I got the chicken and veggies, with extra chicken. The chicken is nice grilled with a nice subtle charred to it while maintaining its moisture. Veggies were cooked to perfection. If you are looking for a quick bite that's more on the healthier side of all things. I would definitely recommend this place. This place is amazing!!!! My go-to is the chicken plate with white meat, 1/2 veggies 1/2 rice. I'm very picky when it comes down to chicken and how it's prepared, but the chicken served here always tastes fresh and cooked to perfection. The amount you get is a lot for a very reasonable price. Very affordable, portions are big, and food is well seasoned; however, one huge drawback is the amount of SUGAR in everything except the rice! I tried Tikiyaki based on the Yelp reviews for lunch today. They have a $5.99 lunch special, Tropical Orange Chicken Rice Bowl with a 20oz Coke. Sounds good to me! I wasn't sure what was going to make the Orange Chicken Tropical until I got it. They had some pineapple slices in it covered with the orange sauce. It actually made a nice addition. The picture shows chives on top, but none were seen on my actual food. Service was minimal. There wasn't anyone there so I ordered immediately. Then after the bare bone minimum of questions, the employee went back to her cell phone. She didn't ask if it was for here or to go so I had to ask for it to go. The location was clean and I do like the Coke machines were have a few selections of flavors versus the freesstyle machines where you have to get deep into the menu to find what you want. It did take a few minutes for the food to be ready, which I could tell by the taste it's at least freshly prepared. When I was handed the bag, I asked if I wanted sauce, I said "soy", and she thanked me and I left. Very uneventful from an experience perspective, but the food was descent. read more

We end up not catering with them because the party was on a Sunday and they are close. The owner gave us idea on how to heat the food but he honestly told us that the beef will not taste as good. I like that honesty on him. He's not the type that will rip you off so he can get money out from you. The price was reasonable. Again, must avoid Lunch hour otherwise there will be a long line. Located across the street from the Village of Orange in a small plaza between Heil and Meats street. Service has always been top knotch in my book. My go to is the small chicken bowl all white meat, no veggies with oodles of sauce. I like it drenched. The beast of mine gets the regular size bowl and ends up eating all my rice too. The beef bowl is also really good. There is usually a special with a free drink for the chicken bowls. Its a win win. On top of bowls, they sell combo plates of beef, chicken or shrimp with or without veggies served with a salad and a egg roll. Fountain Coca Cola products are available with free refills, Snapples and water. I recently discovered the Orange chicken bowl which deep fried chunks of chicken and is swimming in a generous amount of Orange sauce and complemented with chunks of pineapple. Its very very good and is served piping hot. I prefer this one over Panda Express because PE tends to be on the dry side. Service is awesome. The owner is super friendly and cool and takes pride in his food. He acknowledges his regulars and seems to have a good following. 5 stars for the awesome customer service, location, price and taste. This is a small place in a strip mall, directly across the Todai in the Village at Orange. There was an ad outside the place for $5.99 for a chicken teriyaki bowl and drink. It was pretty busy when we arrived and they had some seating inside as well as outside. They have bowls and plates. It reminds me of Flame broiler in that they have teriyaki chicken and beef, but they also have additional items like coconut shrimp, volcano shrimp and chicken. I opted for the volcano chicken plate (choice of white or brown rice). It was like sweet and sour chicken but with a nice bit of spiciness. I really digged this dish. It tasted fantastic and far better than any similar dishes at other fast food chains. I went with the healthy brown rice and really enjoyed it. It also came with some cole slaw and egg roll. It was a lot of food for $6.99. Most of my colleagues weren't able to finish their plates. It really is a super deal. I tried the coconut shrimp as well and that tasted great. Be warned that it may take up to 15 minutes for your food to come out, especially if you go during peak time at lunch. I can easily see why this place is so popular. read more

I've had the pleasure being served twice by a really nice/friendly young gal there & once by the owner -- who really was indifferent. Generally, I place my order ahead (as suggested by other fellow yelpers) so it does help cut down on the wait time. For there hardly is any much room to stand around to wait if your taking your order to-go. So I've waited outside before (since all the tables inside was taken) where the gal brought out my to-go order. Table seating are limited & there is in-door & out-door seating. :: FOOD :: Simple menu but FRESH & TASTY food. Very affordable prices esp for the amount of food you get. For some of the bowls I've ordered all veggies no rice & some bowls with veggies w/ brown rice. Veggies included are cabbage, carrots & lots of broccoli. For some reason their brown rice tastes different but in a very good way -- it seems a lil fluffier & tastier. MEBBE cuz it's covered with the sauce?! Regardless I am loving the brown rice with their proteins here!! They don't skimp on portion or chop up their proteins small (chicken & steak). You seriously get a hefty portion. Ratio wise i say more protein then rice. Their chicken & steak is tender & IMO yums! Not dry at all or over cooked. I tend to buy extras to go -- to bring for lunch at work since I don't work anywhere nearby Tikiyaki. To my surprise, they are still good after 1-2 days. So I've eaten here twice now and have tried the white meat chicken, beef and orange chicken with both white rice and brown rice. That being said, this is by far the best bowl restaurant anywhere in the area for certain. First off, the prices are comparable to similar places in the area but the amount of meat you get is maybe more then twice the amount you'll get anywhere else. Secondly the quality of beef and chicken used here is excellent and by far much better then anywhere else you'll get. This place is a home run in my book. I don't remember how we came across this place, but it is most likely my husband searching on Yelp. This definitely seems to be one of his favorite teriyaki/rice bowl type places. We have been here about four times, and I have always gotten a small chicken bowl with white rice except the time that I got the orange chicken. Even though I get the small bowl, I end up stuffed. The chicken is so flavorful, and they are bigger and more filling slices of chicken, not the tiny pieces that you get at other places. The sauce is thick and delicious too. One time I did get the orange chicken. This seems to be a very popular item here. Most people prefer it over Panda's orange chicken. I personally still like Panda's version better, and I may be one of the few that do. Maybe I wasn't feeling it that day. Sometimes I'm not interested in no matter what I eat. I am sure I will give it another try, but I really like the chicken bowl a lot. Small bowl of chicken is $4.49, and I believe the large is $6.49 Lots of items to choose from too such as steak, shrimp, etc. The owner remembers you quick too. Found this place on Yelp by using a quick search of "Hawaiian food" when I was in the Anaheim area. The cashier was very friendly which started the experience off on a good note. We waited about 10 minutes after placing our order which isn't bad at all. The food itself was good, but not amazing. From the fire next to the volcano chicken, I thought it would be fairly spicy or at least have some sort of kick to it. It tasted mostly like orange chicken which I wasn't mad at! The teriyaki chicken bowl was a pretty standard version. Nothing to complain about. The only down part of the meal was probably the egg roll - it was pretty bland, the inside was mushy, and the shell itself wasn't too crispy. I was pessimistic when I first started seeing reviews and photos of Tikiyaki over a year ago. I couldn't but picture a teriyaki restaurant owned by a Chinese guy. When I finally decided to try it, that was exactly what I saw and heard. A woman behind the counter barking out the orders in Cantonese to the Chinese guy in charge. It has taken me 4 visits, but, Tikiyaki has finally won me over. First of all, these guys are slow. If you are in a rush, don't come here. They are slow because they don't cook it until you order it. They are not like "Mos" places that "Flame Broil" your chicken before you get there and serve overcooked soft chicken. These guys do it right. They cook their teriyaki chicken perfectly with the right texture (not soft). Other than teriyaki chicken, I haven't tried anything else. Sorry, no orange chicken or sweet and sour for me. Service has been great. The owner is beginning to recognize my face. The Chinese woman has started greeting me in Chinese. They always give me a free soda with each teriyaki bowl I order. They offer a large variety of beef and chicken plates/bowls which are filling, delicious and the service is always top notch. I have been to this place on 3 different occasions and the gentleman working the counter actually remembers all of his previous customers which is nice in this day and age. The teriyaki sauce they give you to add to your food is great tasting and the habanero teriyaki sauce is AMAZING. I highly recommend the Habanero sauce for anyone who likes spicy food. Sometimes finding the best restaurant is through word-of-mouth. Thanks to yelp, this seems to hold true to Tikiyaki, a tiny Asian/ Hawaiian restaurant located in a small strip mall across the street from the Panera and Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf at the Orange mall. Two things were commonly said about this place: - The Asian guy/owner of the place can be a bit grumpy or abrasive - The prices are fair, the portions are hearty I found one of the two things to be true. Upon walking in, I found this tiny store to be empty. I had a puzzled look on my face, as I was supposed to be meeting Karen here. The owner asked if I was at the right place, and I said I believe I am if this place is called Tikiyaki. I told him I was going to wait until Karen arrived before ordering, and with a dry sense of humor he responded it is polite to wait for your friend. It was our first time here and I told him I heard he serves large portions. He nodded and took out a small bowl, a medium bowl, and a large styrofoam box. He commented that his entrées are filled to the top. Not sure on what to order, we decided on the special posted on the banner outside. He said the specials was either the teriyaki chicken and veggies, or the orange chicken bowl. We decided on the teriyaki chicken, and the special came with a soft drink for $5.99 plus tax. He told us to have a seat and that it would be about 10 to 15 minutes for the food. While we were waiting for our food, more customers came trickling in. Most of the people took food to go, which was good considering the place holds about 20 people. Our food came out with chicken piled on top of a bed of steaming white sticky rice. I completely forgot that brown rice was also an option. The teriyaki chicken was fabulous. The meat was tender and the sauce was not overly sweet, yet flavorful enough where I did not have to add more. Underneath a pile of my chicken was about five pieces of broccoli and some steamed cabbage. The broccoli was al dente, and was not seasoned, but I was able to mix in the teriyaki sauce to flavor it. The restaurant also has additional sauces if you want to add more heat or more flavor. I can see why people really like coming here. It may be a tiny place, but the flow of foot traffic was nonstop from the time we stepped in, until we left. The owner suggested to call in your order during lunch, but do not expect the food to be ready in five minutes, even with a call-in. He said to allow him to prepare the food and give him at least 15 to 20 minutes. If you have a tolerance for spicy food, his volcano chicken or volcano shrimp would be a good dish to try. If you're an extremely hearty eater, the plates would be worthwhile. The chicken bowl was plenty for me, and an excellent value. I sat there for a minute and said to him instead of my sisters a la carte of teriyaki chicken , change it to volcano chicken, he reluctantly said sure ok. It's best to call in your order because you will be waiting a longtime for your food. Which is fine with me because I know it's fresh and made to order! So finally our food is ready and he packs some sauces for us and now it's time to go home to F this food up! Beef and chicken teriyaki combo plate: This came with an egg roll, cole slaw and brown rice. The quality of meat is very good! The chicken was probably some of the best teriyaki chicken I've ever had! It was moist, flavorful and had a nice little char. The beef wasn't overcooked and they also kept a little gristle on it. I love gristle LOL. Especially with my teriyaki beef! It keeps it from being dried out. I'm not a fan of coleslaws for the most part but there coleslaw wasn't bad. The brown rice was brown rice lol. The portions are huge so I was able to have leftovers for two days :D Galbi ribs: I ordered an a la carte of galbi. Why are galbi ribs so damn pricy when it comes down to ordering them a la carte. Almost the price of a small full meal, whateva, I'm a sucker for galbi so I'm ordering them no matter what. Again the quality of meat is there. These definitely filled my Honda ya galbi rib void :D Another winner! Volcano chicken: Very fresh! It's like a mix of orange chicken and sweet and sour! The breading wasn't to thick. The sauce was just a tad bit. It had a nice spice flavor but it wasn't overwhelming. If you want extra spice, I'd sprinkle some chili flakes on top :) Orange chicken bowl: This was for my sister and she LOOOOOOVED IT! I'm not a big orange chicken fan but this was pretty good! She said this was probably her top 3 orange chicken entrees. Again a nice sized bowl and a good ratio between rice and chicken. Egg rolls: Very good! Nice and crispy, so much flavor without being salty. Even the next day, once you put them in the toaster oven, they crisp back up. I can easily order these egg rolls again. My mom did taste testing of all of our food and she thought it was pretty solid. My sister and I have been craving Tikiyaki ever since! We just hope, the owner is nicer next time!
