Update: So I came back to try it again and I ordered extra guacamole in my burrito again and it was such a small amount so I opened the burrito and it was prob less than a teaspoon amount. That's less than the normal amount we used to get without the add on. In the picture below you'll see exactly what's there. And no there is no guacamole buried anywhere. The rest was tasty but the rice was quite hard, crunchy and burnt. I tried to gaslight myself into thinking it was the texture but decided to just scrape it out. Yes, I would still go back but forego getting any rice at all it was so terrible, and no burrito. *Ordering tip*: Don't pay the extra $2.50 for guacamole; you won't get it. I'm not sure why this place has less than a 5 star average? First of all, it's spacious & inventing. Captures the out door living/indoor/outdoor vibe. Second, perfect for people watching. Third, the renovation at the old Sportsman's Lodge is divine. Love the vibe! Fourth, and most importantly, the food is very good and the prices are quite reasonable. This place is phenomenal! Essentially everything on the menu can be made vegan and vegetarian, which is perfect for me! I highly recommend the 'Street Corn En Fuego Bowl' for first-timers -- incredible flavors, especially when you add avocado. It's aesthetic and the food is okay. That's about it, wayyy overpriced for sure. Tostadas are like $14 each!! I got two and they tasted alright, you can definitely tell they were made with bad limes, and the tostada itself is over seasoned and wayyy too salty. So many good options for this gluten free girl at Tocaya. Love their GF mushroom quesadilla and GF fried fish option on my favorite bowl. Love that their dishes often have a flavorful kick to them. Wish they had unsweetened iced tea as a drink option, but fine with water too. read more

There is a lot of hype for this place. We ordered 2 bowls, a soup and a kids quesadilla. Both bowls and the soup arrived ice cold. When we asked if they were supposed to be hot they said yes. They took them back and brought new ones that were still not hot. Nobody checked to see if we were ok. Super odd. We asked for chips, they said yes reluctantly... Overall I really enjoy this Tocaya. It's a great lunch spot and the food is good, as expected. Service is pretty solid, even though there is not wait service. The restaurant is pretty clean and just overall has a great vibe. My only qualm about this place is the parking.. which isn't really their fault .. I just wish the parking was simpler because it would make coming to the shopping center this is in much more enjoyable! Regardless, this is a great little lunch spot! read more

It was all super "safe" food (nothing edgy or unique) and fresh components but don't think this place is going to be showing up on any Thrillist or EaterLA list of "places you must try in LA!!" (Apologies if they already have!) But the place was super clean and they serve beer and wine so that's a lot. It kind of felt like a nicer option than Chiplotle... and, of course, without the norovirus and e. coli. But that sort of corporate/chainy feel. I'm so happy they opened this location so close to home. Upscale Mexican-inspired cuisine alwaya tastes fresh and flavorful, but never weighs you down. A tier up from Chipotle if you've never been. This location has great indoor and outdoor seating and a relaxed vibe. Really nice for a casual date. Daniel, our host/cashier, was cheerful and helpful. And the buser was very thorough about cleaning the booth. Can get a bit busy in the evening, but they do have to-go through mobile. 90-minute free parking then $3/hour. read more

My boyfriend and I decided to go out for taco Tuesday last night. Their taco Tuesday deal is $2 tacos and $5 margaritas. When we got there, the place was packed- good sign! The interior is so cute and such a vibe. There was a sign directing you either to take a seat at a table and order or if you were new, go up to counter. Since we've never been to a Tocaya before, we waited in line but that wasn't really necessary. It would have been easier to just grab a table and order from our phone. There was plenty of outdoor seating and heaters placed above the tables. But then we waited approximately 35-40 min for our food. We ordered plantain chips with salsa and 2 of each taco (chef recommends) - the Cali, Barrio, Tulum, and Baja. I also ordered a spicy margarita. Our rating for least flavorful taco to most: 1) Barrio 2) Cali 3) Baja 4) Tulum The presentation of the tacos was well done and they were a good size! The food was underwhelming. The plantain chips and salsa were okay. I was wanting more crunch and saltiness in the chips. I would not recommend ordering the Barrio or the Cali. Stick to the Baja and Tulum if you order tacos. I was on my last taco when my margarita finally came. I love margaritas and I can drink a cheap margarita especially if it's $5. I had two sips and it was not good. The ratio was off. It was mostly just tequila. We both understand it's Covid and a lot of restaurants are short-staffed so it could've been an off night. We'll try it again in a few months. read more

This is to show you how they went from a normal sized guacamole to a ridiculous small size portion. I went to the grand opening of Tocaya in Studio City today and enjoyed the food as well as the ambience with my partner. Matt, the CMO, greeted us when I was walking by and mentioned the mahi tacos being delicious. I told him I'd try it out later and when we arrived in the afternoon, Matt remembered me and let us try a few tacos. I must say, they were DELICIOUS. While we were there, we also tried several bowls, a chicken taco, guacamole, plantains, and a few beverages (we took photos of every dish). Everything we had was very tasty and fresh. I also want to mention the staff was kind, helpful and friendly. We didn't have to wait long for the food and also enjoyed seeing everyone dine in the new location. It is going to be great to walk over to this shopping center and then have a bite here every week. Can't wait to try more dishes! read more
