I rarely ever leave reviews, but this place was so bad I just had to save everyone else from making the same mistake. I was walking by and noticed this place so I decided to give it a try. Walked in and noticed it was a vegan spot but was quickly surprised when the cashier said they had protein options to substitute. I checked out the menu and ordered the burrito and some tacos. This place only gets 1 star because I can't go lower. The steak burrito tasted like nothing. Bland, random blend of ingredients and poor quality meat with the non chewable fat between every other bite. So bad I couldn't finish it. The tacos I got shrimp and ground beef and again, tasted like air. Save your money and avoid this overpriced "Mexican modern" horrendous establishment. I promise you Taco Bell's better. read more

The service here is terrible. I was in a couple weeks ago on Saturday. The cashier, Megan was very rude. She looked annoyed as if she didn't want to be there. . She had a nasty attitude when I asked if there was dairy in the fajita del Rey bowl. I only asked because I'm allergic to dairy cheese. I have been to a few Tocaya locations in the Los Angeles area and this is by far my FAVORITE one! Not only does the food live up to Tocaya standards, but the staff in Studio City is so welcoming, hospitable, and friendly. I have brought not only my dog here, but multiple friends. It's a great spot for lunch, dinner, or anything in between! Also a great spot to network and do work on your laptop or phone, if you so desire. Tocaya's Taco Tuesday is also something you can't beat! Delicious tacos for $2! The food is excellent. Tasty and clean and healthy. I've enjoyed two of the salads and one bowl, all very satisfying. Good guacamole too! I'm not a fan of the extra thick tortilla chips, and found the music annoying and too loud. That being said, I'll be returning a lot. read more

Decided to pop by since this is a new location and was pleasantly surprised! This location is aesthetically pleasing and is accompanied with friendly service and good food. I ordered the fajita del rey bowl, two baja tacos, and a side of their chips and guac. It was all really tasty and brought out to us quickly. They're located in the Sportsman's Lodge and will validate your ticket for 90 minutes which is pretty awesome. Can't wait to come back with more friends and treat them to some Tocaya. read more

Shameful establishment with horrendous customer service! Complete nut cases that are lazy and do not want to work! On December 20, 2023, when I walked into this establishment at 9:02 PM (PST), the employee who was a man (I hope I am not miscategorizing their gender due to our woke society) was at the front counter, and he greeted us and asked us what we would like to order. Then, all of a sudden, while I was placing my order with the employee, his other co-worker (who was a woman) came by and told him that they were closed. She was a nasty, disgusting, and disturbed employee. The employee who was initially helping us was imputing my order, but as soon as his other co-worker saw him taking my order, she commanded him to stop and mention that they were closed. Rather than taking my order and then regretting it later, it would have been more appropriate to be upfront and inform your clients about your closure from the outset. The issue stemmed from the co-worker's desire to leave work early, her urgency, and her lack of consideration for the situation. The first employee also bears responsibility, as he abruptly recognized their closure and proceeded to notify us, even before he had inquired about my order. They do not deserve to be operating, as they clearly have no customer service. Keep in mind that I came in here after I took my name off of the waitlist at a nearby restaurant (i.e., Uovo) just to grab a quick bite, which tells you how bad their customer service is. read more

My dad was so pissed when he went to Tocaya because when he ate his meal, he said that nothing tasted good enough, but at least he liked the mushroom and cheese quesadilla. We ate at Tocaya Saturday night with out of town family. The food was good and I would have hoped that would be the reason for my review. Unfortunately the problems resulted from the service. Our server delivered part of our dinner and three napkins for a party of four and one set of forks. The side dishes that were part of the order were never delivered. Our waitress never came back or took any interest in completing our order despite our request to do so. After we ate what we were served, we asked to speak with the manager so that we could discuss our disappointment without posting a review like this. We had asked two different people to speak with the manager and neither appeared to honor our request. After waiting 20 minutes we gave that up. The location and design of the restaurant are great. I hope they can get their act together and become a good addition to our community. read more

The two stars aren't for the food..it was delicious both times we got it (takeout). However this past visit my husband selected a burrito with rice, meat an cheese and NO beans. When He got home and we started to eat he took one bite and there were beans even though the order ticket said no beans. This was a deal breaker for my husband who hates beans and won't eat them. We live to far to have returned back. I tried calling and the first time the phone rang and rang. The second attempt someone picked up then it sounded like they hung up. Was served on filthy plates first time, but food was good so I went back. Filthy plates again. Our server --who I found out was the manager "explained" that they don't use harsh chemicals on their dishes. I dipped my finger in water and easily wiped away the stain. "Is water a harsh chemical?" I asked. No reply. When we were done I asked if we could speak with manager. Turns out she was the manager. This time she said, "let me tell you a bit about our practices. When the food is being plated, because they are wearing gloves sometimes food drops on the plates." I said "that's fine, but I was referring to the multiple brown ring marks on the plate. So was it the harsh chemicals or the gloves? I'm confused". I added, "AI wanted was a simple 'I'm so sorry we will get you another plate and I will let the dishwashers know so this never happens again'."But she just made and list of bizarre excuses. If they're serving us food on dirty plates, what's the rest of the kitchen like? I'll never go back again. I have love for all humans, but I'm not really into eating off of their plates. read more
