I took my mom out for her birthday Saturday evening and overall the experience started off great. We were seated on time, and the chef was very nice and personable. He went over our plates and started the show, which we enjoyed. I would have loved to give this place 5 stars, but unfortunately there was an issue with the meat portions for my brother and my husband. When my brother brought it to the chef's attention, the chef removed meat from my husband's plate and gave it to my brother. I honestly did not find that appropriate. The correct way to handle the situation would have been to bring out additional meat to fix the mistake, not take food directly from another guest's plate. While we are family what if we weren't? What if we had just met at that dinner? I suggest handling these types of errors in a more hygienic and professional manner. With better attention to this, the experience could truly be a 5 star one.

This was our first time at Tokyo Garden and were pleasantly impressed. The koi pond at the entrance is a very nice touch. We didn't have a reservation, but were accommodated. The ladies are very friendly and are also very funny/ playful. I wasn't expecting that at all. My husband and I shared a Ny steak and chicken Teppanyaki and my son got a sushi roll called "The Thing". The cook was also very funny and got our table to sing happy birthday for our son. There was a charge for sharing a plate, which was expected, but overall it was reasonably priced. Food was good, service was good, We'd definitely come back.

I haven't been here in a while and now I can't figure out why?! I think this is the best teppanyaki place in town! From the cool koi pond in the lobby to the funny chef Luis, we couldn't have picked a better place for our celebration! The food was delicious! chef Luis cooked all the steak exactly how we requested and the garlic butter sauce he made for the shrimp and scallops was perfection! There were 7 people in our party and everyone was completely happy with their meal. We topped it off with the fried ice cream and the tempura cheesecake! So beautiful and definitely big enough to share!

We are here for a birthday celebration this evening, so what is more fun than Teppanyaki for a crowd! James was our chef this evening. He was entertaining and a lot of fun & cooked us a great meal. The food here is always fresh and delicious. You have the choice of Teppanyaki dining, sushi or ordering off the menu. They have a lovely setting with a Koi pond as you enter. A very small sushi bar and table dining if you aren't in the mood for the Teppanyaki table. Very family friendly as well. They have been providing delicious meals in this location for many years. Come try them out.

Such a fun tepanyaki experience! We called in early before coming in to see if there was a spot for the tepanyaki table and glad there was! Our chef was great at entertaining us and did so many cool tricks! The food, especially the scallops, were delicious. Would love to come back again!!

What a show. It was my first time visiting Tokyo Garden on a Friday Night. We had a 7pm reservation for Teppanyaki, but we were not seated until about 7:15. There was a line out the door. We were attended to promptly once seated. The Teppanyaki Chef put on a great show, and the food all had excellent flavor. The portion size was just ok, considering the price tag of 30 dollars per plate. My wife had Salmon Teriyaki, the presentation was nice, but again, the portion size was just ok.

Had my birthday celebration yesterday with a large group and this is our families go to when celebrating birthdays! Love the koi pond in the front entrance! I ordered the scallop and chicken teppanyaki meal. The chef who cooked for us was very entertaining and promptly gave me a birthday wish. Staff was very attentive and constantly refreshing drinks throughout meal. The fried rice was cooked to perfection with a delicious sesame flavor. The scallops were seasoned perfectly and were buttery soft. The chicken was delicious with the sauce the chef prepared. Best Teppanyaki in town! Bakersfield classic staple!

EXCELLENT Teppanyaki!!! The best in Bakersfield. This is a good-sized restaurant with a great atmosphere. Very cute decorations & even an indoor koi pond. The New York steak was phenomenal, along with delicious miso. We've had filet & lobster in the past, which was also delicious. Our chef was James & he was highly requested by the other patrons at our table. He kept it fun & personal. The rest of the staff was friendly & accommodating. Definitely the best spot for Teppanyaki!

My husband commented that it made him want to move to Bakersfield which made our server Emily laugh. Limited parking in back and some street parking. We walked in without a reservation at 11:15 on a Friday and were the first customers of the day. Great decor, dim lighting, vintage looking furniture which does not sacrifice comfort for artistry. Our cocktails and meals were spectacular: Botanist Fashioned: 5/5-the brown sugar cinnamon syrup added a spicy bite to each sip which was unexpected and fun. Watermelon Sugar High:4/5-refreshing with watermelon juice freshly made in house and an ice cube with mint frozen in it. Seared cauliflower: 4/5-great appetizer for 2. The crispy chicken sandwich and the Botanist smash burger:5/5-Both had super flavorful pickles and toasted buns which always add a lovely crunch to each bite. Last time there, I had the tuna filet because it cost less than the beef or lamb, and it was equally good, The escargot is very good too. This place has some real history and it reeks of it from the horseshoe shaped bar to the one table reserved for the in house ghost. Back in the day this location was once called The Office, so when businessmen were having a drink after a long day, they could call home and say "Hey Honey, I'm gonna be a little late, I'm still at The Office," and they wouldn't be lying. There's still the remains of an olde phone booth near the bar. I wish I could afford to eat here more often, the "Brandy Blu Filet" is melt in your mouth awesome.

There was no host stand, no greeting, and no indication of what we were supposed to do. I eventually asked the bartender about our reservation. He seemed mildly annoyed that I had interrupted whatever invisible task he was doing and told us we'd have to wait for the host. So we waited. And waited. Once seated, we ordered drinks and were served warm bread with butter knives. The problem? There was no butter. Instead, there were candles heating cups of drawn garlic butter that nobody explained. The waiter described it as a powerhouse flavor. Imagine garlic butter LaCroix. Technically present, but only as a rumor. The pacing of service was glacial. Not relaxed. Not upscale. Just slow. The entire evening felt like a social experiment where everyone involved was pretending to operate a fine dining restaurant while waiting to see if customers would notice. We ordered the stuffed mushrooms, which were apparently a house favorite. I sincerely hope that's no longer true. The filling was confusing enough, but someone decided to glaze them with a sweet sauce that made the entire dish taste like a dare. We took a few bites and surrendered. Then came the steaks. My fiancée ordered the filet medium rare. It arrived with the texture of warm oatmeal and was drowning beneath balsamic reduction and Gorgonzola. The steak itself was so soft and underdone it resembled a pink marshmallow more than beef. My strip steak arrived covered in gravy. Not a sauce. Gravy. To complete the experience, we both ordered baked potatoes. Because surely nobody can mess up a baked potato. We were informed that bacon and sour cream would cost an additional $2. Nothing says "premium steakhouse" quite like nickel-and-diming toppings for a baked potato. By the end of the meal, we were struggling to identify a single redeeming part of the experience. The service was slow. The food was baffling. The atmosphere felt like everyone--staff and customers alike--was participating in the same awkward experiment. Horse in the Alley desperately wants to be a fine dining destination. Unfortunately, wanting and being are two very different things. ***Our server Samantha was very sweet and even comped the stuffed mushrooms. But this was easily the worst $200 I've ever spent.

I've eaten at the Tennessee locations several times, and they've always had outstanding ribeyes, so I was excited to see how Cali did it. Because this review is epic (IMO) is wanna give a shoutout to Jacob one of the managers ,Daniel our server, Siera the Bartender and Danette also a Manager. When we walked in, one of the managers, Jacob, greeted and seated us, and he happened to be carrying a basket of those buttered rolls with that honey butter, to our table. My lady was definitely hangry, and I think he sensed it because he ensured we didn't have to wait to start eating. Jacob, thank you--I appreciated that more than you probably realized.. THE GRUB: Our first appetizer was the Rattlesnake Bites. They're fried balls filled with cheese and jalapeños. Flavor-wise, they were very tasty, but the texture just wasn't for me. I'd give them 2 out of 5 stars. The best way I can describe them is a ball of crispy crust filled with very soft, almost soupy cheese. Again, the flavor was great--I just expected a different texture. For our Mains my wife ordered the catfish with a loaded baked potato and a side salad. She loved it. She said the catfish was thick, meaty, and seasoned perfectly. The baked potato was cooked just right and topped with ,sour cream, bacon and cheddar, the salad was fresh, and she even commented on how the ranch dressing tasted homemade. Easy 5 out of 5 stars for the catfish plate. I ordered the full rack of ribs with loaded mashed potatoes, and we also got the loaded macaroni and cheese. Apparently, Texas Roadhouse really loves bacon and cheese... and so do I, so we were a perfect match! Everything was flavorful, comforting, and exactly what I was hoping for. 5/5 stars Our server, Daniel, was fantastic. He offered great suggestions, kept my drink filled without me ever having to ask, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. He played a big part in making our first California visit a great one. I also want to recognize Danette, who I believe was the general manager--or at least she carried herself like the person who keeps everything running. She was warm, funny, and genuinely cared about our experience. When she learned we weren't crazy about the Rattlesnake Bites, she immediately removed them from our bill and even gave us a complimentary appetizer for our next visit. That level of customer service says a lot about how they value their guests, and how she wanted our experience to be just right. Finally, a shout-out to Siera the bartender. She was incredibly sweet, and we really enjoyed chatting with her. Honestly, we almost wished we'd sat at the bar, she had been by her lonesome the hour and ten minutes we were there. As we were leaving, she reminded us that we could take some of those delicious rolls home. Since we had ordered a meal for our youngest--who isn't a fan of ribs or catfish--we were excited for her to try the rolls too. It was such a thoughtful ending to an already wonderful interaction. Texas Roadhouse atmosphere and food absolutely delivered. Great food, outstanding service, and a team that genuinely cares about its guests. This California location definitely lived up to the reputation I'd come to expect from Texas Roadhouse right here in Cali.. Texas Roadhouse for the win--5 out of 5 stars!
