Squid Bulgogi (stir-fried squid in a spicy and savory sauce)!!
    Eunhae H.

I haven't seen a place in the OC area where they specialize in Sotbap (hot pot rice). This place specifically offers a course menu of Ssam Bap, which includes: pot rice, side dishes, leaf wraps, soybean paste stew, iron plate of your choice of meat or seafood. I ordered the Squid Bulgogi Ssam Bap, which is their stir-fried squid in a spicy and savory sauce. The squid was perfectly cooked and so fun to eat with all the different lettuce wraps they provided: steamed cabbage, perilla leaves, romaine lettuce, jalapeños, carrots and cucumbers served with their housemade dip (ssamjang). I also ordered their Galbi + Spicy Cold Noodle Combo (non-spicy option also available) and the Fiery Chicken with Cheese. For the Fiery Chicken with Cheese, the server came with a blowtorch to melt the cheese tableside, which was quite the show and made the experience even more fun. The service was excellent throughout the meal, with staff being friendly, attentive, and engaging. Because they are known for their Sotbap, it was only fitting that the star of the show was the Sotbap. I'll definitely be back to try their other Sotbaps, especially the LA Galbi, bulgogi and pork bulgogi.

My friend and I stumbled upon this place cause we were craving some Korean food. There was no wait on a Saturday afternoon and we sat quickly. The ordering system was super easy to use on a tablet. The portions at this place are hefty and I would say is considered hearty and healthy. I got the ssambab + squid bulgogi. It included a big plate of veggies, pot rice, and a soup! Of course, you can't forgot about the banchan. It was a lot of food and I had bulgogi and veggie leftovers at the end of the meal. The only downside of this place was that the restrooms were outside, but no code needs to be entered to use. It was also pretty clean in there too. Overall, nothing really bad about this place. I'll be back to try out their other food!

This place was recommended by a friend and she was right that it was authentic and delicious. They even have the tables with drawers that house their utensils like in South Korea. It's a tiny place maybe 8 tables and there's only 1 person taking orders. Luckily when we arrived there was 1 table left for our party of 3. We ordered the seafood pancake and the bulgogi that came with all the banchan. These 2 orders were more than enough for the 3 of us. We loved the seafood pancake here because it was thick and crispy. ( some places the pancake is soggy.) It was full of seafood like octopus and shrimp. The bulgogi was very good too. It came with spicy tofu soup, rice with the crunchy bottom, lettuce , radish kimchi, fish cake, salad, fried eggplant and cucumbers. (But no regular kimchi.) It was all so flavorful. We were stuffed and so satisfied. I highly recommend this place!

    Soy marinated raw crab

Came here for a friend's birthday and thoroughly enjoyed the authentic food here. The soy marinated raw crab was fresh and excellent. 5/5 stars! The short rib was also excellent. It was tender, but not fatty. Nice balance in the marinade. 5/5 The squid bbq was also excellent. Sometimes, squid can be tough and rubbery, but not the squid here! It was actually quite tender and flavorful as well. 5/5 stars The monkfish soup was also excellent, with generous chunks of fish. 5/5 You order from a QR code linked to your table. Very convenient and easy. Other notables: Price was reasonable for authentic Korean food. Plenty of parking. Cozy restaurant space with less than 10 tables. This is not a fine dining restaurant, but more reminiscent of your grandma's kitchen. I'm definitely gonna come back and bring my mom here. She will love it.

Top Sot Korean Restaurant Buena Park We got : (Combo) Korean SHORT RIBS+Pot Rice +Soybean Paste Soup -the rice pot was pretty good size, so filling I was so full and this was great with my raw crab! The short ribs were a mix of fatty and lean meats, there was A LOT OF veggies provided to wrap the meat in, which was fantastic surprise. The soybean paste soup was full of strong savory bean flavor. SOY SAUCE MARINATED CRAB TWO WHOLE CRAB : definitely super fresh, not overly salty, and high quality ! I just wish it was bigger portion for the price but I think the quality of items at this restaurant is what you are getting with a lot of unique side dishes too! The rice cold drink at the end for dessert was cherry on top. Good service, I actually liked that the bathroom is outside , lots of parking in the plaza , chill vibe not noisy. 9/10 for me. A great soul Korean home cook meals. Went here for dinner on Sunday evening, we went early around 5:30 and we're the 1st one there but when we left, it packed. Parking is great with plenty since they have big parking lot. Big outdoor sideways patio seating, inside have less the a dozen tables. Clean, well organized, space with friendly vibe. Menu and order on tablet on the table. Side dishes are great, slightly different than the usual that you would expected. Portions are great, price tags are great, could be lower but still good for the size portion. The cold noodle is very tasty and chewy with well marinated sauce. The pork bulgogi with burned cheese was abit wetter then I would like but we'll make and tasty, especially with hot pot rice (that come with it) and veggies. The seafood pancake is unique and tastier than I expected, top 3 that I ever ate. Not oily, crunchy, well balanced & refreshing. The Beef Short Rib Soup was fantastic, just simply yummy. The fried fish is just well make and so good. I could stop from finishing it and it was gone within 10mins. Service is wonderful and kind. The ladies are very attentive and kind. We had a wonderful dinner with some left over for next day or 2 for work lunch. Will definitely come back to try others in near future.

Top Sot is a relatively new spot in Buena Park, located on a busy street, so I often pass this location. Since it's relatively new, I don't think many people know about it because when I went on a Saturday evening, we were quickly seated with only one other party in the restaurant. I liked that their banchan is different from most places - offering fried eggplant and a citrus vinagrette salad. Since it was later in the evening, the restaurant was quiet and service was attentive. My partner and I shared the gal I combo which came with the fresh veggies, soup, and rice. This was plenty of food for us and we left satisfied.

Want a tasty and elevated Korean restaurant experience? Look no further than Top Sot! Although Sot Bap is not a new concept, Top Sot elevates your experience with a pleasant dining atmosphere and genuine quality you can taste. No matter what age you are, what type of cultural background you come from, you will have no complaints. All the side dishes were seasoned and fermented to perfection! The level of detail the owner put into all the ingredients, collectively amplified my experience. Unfortunaly, I have been to many restaurants where the vegetable quality, freshness, and cleanliness were very questionable. This led me to be more cautious when visiting restaurants. At Top Sot, the quality, freshness, and cleanliness were undeniable. Again, the attention to small details made my meal momentiously more enjoyable. Although I want to recommend one specific dish for you all to try, I literally cannot choose. I am eagerly looking forward to the next day I can enjoy a meal at Top Sot. If you have read this far, what are you waiting for? Head to Top Sot right now!!

The 2 that came with the soba (I was surprised that there was bulgolgi pieces inside, usually it's just rice and some cut up veggies)
    Robin H.

My mom introduced me to this place and I'm so glad she did because this place was the highlight of my month. My mom ordered in Korean so I'll tell you from the best of my knowledge. I got their Soba and it's now my favorite spot to get soba; soba tasted fresh and taste was super spot on for me. The soba came with 2 sides (idk the name of it). My mom got their spicy pork bulgolgi and doenjang jigae (stew). Honestly I can't tell you much of the names, my only job was to eat, enjoy, and pay. Everything tasted great but the jigae (stew) was just okay for the both of us. All the side dishes were delicious as well especially their deep fried eggplant. The place was clean, welcoming, and very family friendly vibe. Utensils and napkins are self-serve inside every table which was cool. I'll definitely be back!

Already looking for a place to detox after your Thanksgiving feast? Check out Top Pot -- a healthy Korean spot that's light, balanced, and satisfying. My favorite is their ssam bap set: wrap your meat with fresh veggies, served with warm pot rice, protein, and unique sides like fried eggplant with miso and soybean paste soup. For just $28, it's enough for two. We also ordered noodles and beef soup for the table. Everything is light on the stomach but still delicious, filling, and nutritious. Ig: socalhkfoodies

Parking is pretty decent in this plaza. This place is known for its same which are like veggie wraps. I got the squid with ssam which was great. They give a lot of refreshing side dishes which just go so well with the meal. You order on your phone but service was quick and easy. They also end your meal with some refreshing shik hye! Im excited to come back here :)!

    Wrap variation 1
    Angela B.

$31 for one ssamjang wrap + protein dish Brought me back to Korea and worth the potential choking hazard making assorted lettuce wraps! If two people order, one ssamjang meal with protein and a non ssamjang meal, such as the donkatsu or fried flounder, that's totally enough food for both. You will likely have leftovers. They don't allow you to bring back the ssamjang or banchan, guess you gotta keep coming back lol YUMMY Banchan goes hard here cilantro with tomatoes - bomb Okra? With sesame seeds - great flavor Fresh ssamjang reminds me of Korea!!! Doenjang jjigae smells very strong, but when you eat it with rice is really yummy! Good Green onion kimchi - maybe a teensy fermented for me Deep fried eggplant - I love eggplant , but wish the batter outside was lighter Squid bulgogi was a bit chewy, but it wasn't too sweet, spicy, or salty. Shall try the chicken next time! Spicy squid banchan - fine Making the lettuce wraps with a variation of the banchan and a small scoop of rice with their ssamjang is DELISH. Mouth doesn't get bored and it's fun to experiment with flavors. Rice comes out in a metal pot and the kind server scooped the rice and put in hot barley tea so the scorched rice can be eaten later! I realize it's also not my cup of tea lol They give you frozen shikhye after the yummy meal The place is not that large, I had to wait 10 min for a table at 1pm on Sunday.

육회비빔밥 BEEF TARTARE AND VEGETABLES MIXED RICE
    Annie K.

Everything about this place is amazing, from the golden bowls to the little rice pot that turns into nurungji (burnt rice porridge) at the end. I ordered the beef tartare bibimbap and it was so fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The beef was tender, the veggies crisp, and once you mix it all together it's pure perfection. Every side dish tasted homemade and full of flavor. Service was great, super friendly and attentive. They even gave me a sikhye (Korean dessert drink) at the end, which was such a nice surprise. And there's plenty of parking, which is always a plus. This place makes you feel fancy but totally comfortable at the same time. If you love Korean food or want to try something new, you have to come here.

I'd never been there before, so this review is all about first impressions. As we approached, the sign caught my attention: "Under New Ownership." Outside, an employee sat scrolling on his phone. It was a quiet Sunday around 3 PM, and we were the only patrons in sight. Checking Yelp beforehand had been a bit of a letdown, as their menu featured items they no longer offer. No links were available either. We ordered half a pound of pulled pork, half a pound of brisket, and four pieces of cornbread--all priced reasonably. Their tap selection turned out to be decent. The Cali Squeeze Blood Orange was a standout, and they also seemed to carry Firestone Walker products, including 805. The staff were friendly and responsive, which was refreshing. While the brisket had cooled by the time we got home, it was still tender and flavorful--just like the pulled pork. The real surprise? The chimichurri that accompanied the brisket--an unexpected and delightful touch. Overall, I'd rate the experience as average. While it's clear they've got potential, a bit more effort could turn Wholly Smokes into a go-to spot. Leaning in on those small details would really elevate the experience.

But since I moved out of LA, it's so inconvenient to get to. Enter Kyung Bok Kung -- what a find. I can get a fine dining korean bbq experience conveniently. I've been here a number of times, and this review reflects the few times I've been there. It's become the goto spot to take people from out of town who are visiting and want a Kbbq experience. Things I immediately noticed - lots of white and grey teslas in the parking lot during lunch - you know what that means? Golf Koreans. Yup. Go inside and you'll see incredibly well dressed older retired people with their buddies chatting up in private cubicles. Beautiful decor. It's like the background setting of a korean drama where there's a close-up of the guy and the girl - they're about to say something really serious to each other. The camera does a wide angle shot of them - and this is the restaurant it's shot in. Price points - this place isn't cheap, but they have incredibly good deals on a weekday lunch (cold noodles and meat set). Their dinner set course meals are priced around what you would expect from a quality steak house. This place is not as pricey as AB steak or Cote, but you're getting just as quality. Food - I've had the lunch set meals, the bbq grilled course, and ordered à la carte. One thing is for sure - they don't miss. I never had a 9 budda plate until I came here, but apparently it's like a thing that royals ate during the monarchy days. It was like a korean vegetarian taco. Very intricate (and slightly annoying) to put together but delicious - and a great test of your chopstick skills. Their braised beef (galbijjim) from their lunch set intersects savory, sweet, and tenderness in a way that only Korean grandmas do. I'm not a huge fan of Wagyu beef (just too rich and can never feel after eating it), but I have never felt that way coming out of here. Go here at night if you want to impress someone or celebrate something. Go here during lunch if you want a fantastic meal and want to see what the best korean food can taste like but don't want to break the bank.

Roasted until the outside is relatively crispy while maintaining a juicy interior - Cornbread was good, nothing special yet nothing bad about it - Mac and Cheese was slightly on the drier side, but still paired super well with the chicken Overall, great option and great portion sizes at the Boardwalk BBQ! Definitely go for the all day dining ticket if possible, otherwise prices may seem a little steep. Next time will definitely be back to try the brisket.

Service was okay but I think the cashier was confused when I showed her my pass. She asked, "oh, do you want to use your 10% discount now?"--are you surprised? When else would I use it? It's not as if it's a single use coupon...oh well, maybe she was being trained. The mashed potatoes I tried from my friend's plate were so good! Garlicky and with some peel still there.
