With the new Michelin awards just announced, I'd like to throw it back to this restaurant that has held a Michelin Bib Gourmand award for a decade. I had a 3 course dinner here for just $39 back then in 2022. Even though it has gone up to $52 for a 4 course meal now, it is still a budget friendly option for Michelin recommended dinning. We visited around Christmas, so the cozy little space felt extra festive. The restaurant is quite small, which added to the charm, though it did get pretty loud during dinner service. As for the food, both the presentation and flavors were decent but not particularly memorable. Nothing really stood out or left a lasting impression. That said, considering the price point and the Michelin recognition, I still think it is worth trying at least once. - Sweet Potato Soup - Pear & Arugula Salad - Arroz Con Pollo (+$12) - Butternut Squash Campanelle (+$12) - Braised Short Rib - Seared Salmon - Chocolate Doughnut Sundae - Key Lime Pie

I really enjoyed this place. The food was very delicious. They have pre fixe menu that changes depending on what's in season. You get an appetizer, pasta dish, main and dessert. The price for quality and quantity was really worth it. On the night we went, I got the split pea soup, risotto with bacon and veggies, their steak main and sorbet for dessert. I honestly really enjoyed all the dishes, especially the steak that was cooked medium rare and the risotto. It was so flavorful and creamy. Got a glass of white wine to wash everything down. The only downside with service was that they didn't offer us a bread basket. We didn't realize this until the very end. Everyone else got bread baskets and were even asked if they wanted one. Our table was not informed so we felt a little left out. We asked our server at the end and he said we had to specifically ask for it from the beginning. Just a note for anyone else going.

One of my favorite dining experiences in SF (and it's a tough category to win in)! This review is long overdue as I had an amazing experience at Trestle for a birthday dinner a whole year ago. By sheer luck, my birthday coincided with the 4-course for $45 promotion they were running for their 10-year anniversary. I had to jump at the opportunity, especially since the menu was built from the all time favorite items at the restaurant since their opening. I really couldn't think of a better way to experience a restaurant for the first time. While some set course meals have a few misses, this one was just hit after hit the entire way through. I really felt as if every course was complimentary, but different enough in their own way to stand on their own and make an impact. Tldr: the food was amazing! The icing on the cake (figuratively and literally) was just how far they went out of their way to make my birthday night special. Exceptional service, bringing out a complimentary dessert with a candle, and even leaving a personalized card elevated this experience to the next level. Would highly recommend paying Trestle a visit, and I can't wait for the next time I'm able to try their new menus myself!

Such a great deal for a 4 course meal in the city for $52 per person. (Around $70 with tax and tip). Make sure to get a reservation in advance! Portion size was good and both my friend and I were stuffed by the time the dessert was out. They change up the menu frequently depending on what is in season which makes me excited for the next time I get to dine at Trestle. I will definitely be returning to Trestle!! Pro tip: street parking is free after 6pm!!

Made a last minute reservation here for our anniversary dinner. Loved that they gave us a handwritten card and added little happy anniversary chocolates to our desserts! I thought the price was reasonable ($52 per person for four courses) compared to what I'm used to in Chicago, and the food seemed very fresh. We got one of everything. I love that the restaurant feels very intimate, almost like you are eating in a dining room at someone's house. The plates were small, but they filled me up. My favorite was the seared bistro steak, but I also really liked the rigatoni verde. The doughnuts with the raspberry sauce were the perfect dessert to end the meal. I wasn't super blown away by the flavors, though. I also wish that our waitress explained each dish to us after setting it down because the server who had the table next to us was doing that. I think she should have offered us bread too. We thought it was just given automatically because every table that sat down seemed to be getting it and we were questioning why we didn't get any, but apparently it was listed on the menu that you have to ask for it which was very easy to miss if you don't read closely enough. We ended up ordering it after we got our first course.

Food tastes fresh but not too memorable. Heard they update the menu seasonally, good place to eat casually and see what's new!

Writing updates this recent to my previous one is a rare thing but I would like to commend the restaurant for my last visit. With visitors from a foreign country meeting me for weeknight dinner, I asked their cuisine and food preference since we only had this meal with their busy schedule. I made a 5:45 pm reservation on a Wednesday and the guests and arrived early. We were seated at the 2nd table to the right as the dining room started to fill. This is when things got strange (in a good way) as our waiter referenced me by my 1st name as did the host. I didn't think much of it as the experience started. The format remains the same with a set menu for a four-course meal with two options for each course. Just as a teaser, here is what I enjoyed. (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=72&select=mlOTp-ts6sk78BRSuZ6Yjw) - presentation was fine dining style, (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=72&select=WcbGi9YqoqsxqUOm4OgKuQ), (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=72&select=4e32dU3Pa6DLvphkU9lxdQ), and (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=72&select=hrhewclMcb1AUOLpgype1Q). My apologies for forgetting to photograph my chocolate layer cake. As usual, everything was delicious. Kudos and big thanks to Charlie who waited on our party and was very upbeat and helpful, definitely above and beyond. Also, shout out to Lucas, who managed the front of the house. Also, thanks to Jian for rewarding me for my loyalty to this group's restaurants. I still need to try that place near J Town, hopefully sooner than later.

As per my other review, I came back with an open mind to give trestle another chance! I did take a look at the menu before hand I was really excited for the food. The flavors were much better for my palette, and the service was wonderful. I did really enjoy the pork, salmon and pasta (my friend and I ordered various things to share) as their flavors really complimented each other! With that said, I still feel like it misses the mark for me. It is a place that I would go to if one of my friends or colleagues really wanted to, but not a place I would personally seek out.

Portion size is a little small but overall pretty good. We made a reservation because it was on the Michelin guide. Ambiance inside is cozy and a great date night place. I went during their anniversary where they had a tasting menu which I thought was pretty good for the price. Would I go again? Probably not, but worth the experience.

It's been a long while since we revisited Trstle and it is still holding up the reputation of it cozy atmosphere, great service, delicious food and now I believe they have the most reasonable price for SF. There ia public parking lot next door, it is online paid parking and ensure you click on all the necessary button to complete the payment process as I started it but failed to push the last confirmation button and ended up with a ticket. Since I have a screen shot of my payment screen for technical error I got a reduce payment but it's sure put a damper to the nice evening. Overall, everyone in our group were very happy with their dinner choices. We appreciate the warm service and professionalism from the entire team. We will be back this time sooner.

3.5/5 Perhaps the day I went just didn't hit as hard b/c my friend has been here 5+ times and she said this menu was the most mid yet... My friend and I had a reservation for 7:30pm on a Tuesday. We were seated quickly and then ordered the entire tasting menu ($104 + they also have an automatic 20% service + automatic 6% SF fee). The menu is seasonal! We had gotten: Waldorf Salad (3/5) Walnuts were yummy but overall just a standard salad Roasted Chicken Soup - (2/5) I fear I did not like this one it was just chicken soup Saffron Risotto - (3/5) very heavy and rich but in a way where I didn't want to finish it. Mushroom Stroganoff Pappardelle - (4/5) creamy & pasta was al dente! Crispy Pork Schnitzel (3/5) - was indeed crispy but the dish itself was not unique for me Seared Ling Cod (4/5) - the cod itself was seared nicely and the skin was crispy but the star of the show here was the Herb Spatzle with the Beurre Rouge; the spatzle was chewy and the beurre rouge was so smooth and rich). Vanilla Pot de Crème (3.5/5) - Brown sugar tuile was yummy in combination with the custard: not too sweet. Chocolate Layer Cake (3/5) - Peanut butter with the chocolate was yummy but I personally don't like cherry in cakes so that lowkey ruined it for me. Overall, I would go again for another menu but not the current one.

I had an incredible experience here last Tuesday night during a work trip to SF. Called ahead while walking from the hotel and asked if they accept walk ins and the manager mentioned he would save me a seat... good start already, whole staff was unbelievable professional while I dined here. 52 dollars, 4 great courses, 3 of which were some of the best bites I've ever had. This was truly a 5 star experience. I chose the panzanella salad/app and omfg this was the best salad I ever had holy shit For the second course I chose the risotto and omg dude the first two courses I had at this place were incredible, easily the best risotto and salad dish I've ever had. The entree was a bit underwhelming, if I did it again I would go w the steak as opposed to the sole/white fish it was beautiful just really light. I had the chocolate tart for the dinner and it was incredible. See the pics below, I could not recommend this place enough and would absolutely stop by again! I plan on coming back when I'm in town for work again in June. Great service, ambiance and food!

Had an incredible time at Trestle celebrating a birthday dinner. All of the ingredients and dishes tasted so fresh and flavorful. The service was very timely with a relaxing ambiance. Our favorite dish was the rigatoni verde!

    Ask the Community - Trestle

Is it noisey for early (6pm-ish) dining?

Low noise early. Only raises to moderate as the dining room fills.

Is the 20% service charge applied to the pre- or post-tax amount? TIA.

    Pre-Tax

Do they do walk-ins? I tried to book for SFRW but found they do not take reservations for parties under 2. aka... party of 1. Thank you.

I walked in but it was late, closer to 8:30 and I had to wait until almost 9 to be seated but they did accept me. They will take your name down and text you.

    Do they take walk-ins?

Yes, we allow walk-ins, however please keep in mind we're a small restaurant and are often fully-committed with reservations. We always recommend trying to make a reservation first.

Corkage fee? Wine list viewable online?

Trestle's corkage fee is $25/bottle for any bottle not on our current wine list. Please contact us at info@trestlesf.com and we'd be happy to email you a copy of the wine list.

Does this place take reservations? I looked on the site but could t see an option but wanted to double check

Hello. Yes, we accept reservations at Trestle. Please visit trestlesf.com. You’ll find a reserve button in the top right or a reservations widget on the the center of the page. We hope to see you soon.

How often does the menu change?

We update the Trestle menu daily.

What was at this location prior to Trestle?

I believe it was an old Chinese restaurant (Great Hunan?) that had been there for ages.

Where can I view their wine list?

Hello Jami, You can view full Trestle wine list via the following link:…

Is there a bar seating at the new location?

No there isn't. Beer and wine only.

    Do they have outdoor seating?

No. The Vault, their sister restaurant does.

    Is there a corkage?

    A whopping $45.00!

Do they have a separate menu for vegetarians?

Separate no. Most restaurants don't have a unique vegetarian menu. But as you'll see from their standard menu from their website, they have at least one item per category that's vegetarian.

Is this inside or outside? So tired of outside.

    Inside. The Vault is outside.

How much time should I expect to spend here for a meal?

I would allow at least an hour. It really depends on if you are having wine and how long it takes you to eat each course. The service is very fast and efficient

Are there vegetarian options? What about for the tasting menu?

When I went there, the menu did not have an true veggie entree options, but the restaurant was able to accommodate. However I would not plan to go here if you are vegan or strict on diet- the menu does constantly change though so you never know!

Will you be able to accommodate dairy-free alternatives for all dishes/courses?

Better check with the restaurant. They only offer pre-fixe menu so not sure if they can accommodate.

Seems like I'm not able to get a reservation online. They don't accept reservations for parties of 1..anyone else has had this problem? Do I need to call them?

    It's a small restaurant. I would call.

    Is there a corkage fee?

Yes. $20 a bottle as of July 2017. Call to confirm.

Are there any gluten free options?

    Yes. Numerous dishes are available.

I ordered the raspberry lemonade which came fresh and delicious, and my wife and I split the blueberry mascarpone crunch french toast, the bulgogi fried rice, and the famous millionaire's bacon sampler platter. The French toast was just perfectly prepared and the flavors are amazingly on point. Just the ultimate morning sweet treat! Not joking or exaggerating, the bulgogi fried rice was the best I've ever had, and we have some very good options in Reno, but this was served so perfectly cooked, seasoned, and with the best quality beef that it was immaculate. The beef melted in my mouth where usually bulgogi is very chewy, this was not, just perfection. Then, while I would be guaranteed to return for the bulgogi alone, the millionaire's bacon flight was absolutely fantastic. Each piece of bacon was buttery smooth, extremely flavorful, and absolutely tasty in every way. My wife's favorite was the cinnamon, but I think mine was the original closely followed by the rosemary. The citron was sweet and light, the cinnamon was sugary and savory, the original was saucy and spicy, and the rosemary was fragrant and smoky. I am adding this place straight to my favorites and cannot wait to return. I'd recommend you do the same!

The truffled ham and cheese croquettes had a delightful creamy spice to them due to the harissa inside them, it was so savory with a layered flavor to them. I also loved the chicken tsukune, everything was amazing to lay our eyes on and to eat. I think my very minor issue would be that I ordered non-alcoholic beverage packages for my entire party and alcoholic beverages for a few, and I would say that the selection could be a bit more expansive and also elaborate upon what beverages there are to choose from. An inclusive cocktail package would be fantastic. I would recommend this location for anyone looking to host a corporate event nearby Fidi.

Stayed at the Jay and had the opportunity to try their HH and breakfast…read more HH: Tried a variety of their skewers and chicken nuggets. Overall, tastes were good, but not particularly special. Since the value is not outstanding, would only come here if staying at the hotel. Breakfast: Yogurt and granola: solid and tastes as expected Açaí bowl: A bit disappointing as it was much more liquidy than what it should be. Was almost the consistency of a smoothie. Would not recommend. The third floor: Solid and substantial. Would recommend! Ambience in the lounge is chill and there is a nice outdoor space.

This place is such a treat. I brought my family in with two big teenage boys and everyone left…read morehappy. We got four different entrees so we could share and every one was flavored and sauced to perfection. Fresh ingredients make such a difference. And I love attention to detail like the pinches of flaked salt next to my ribeye so I could salt to taste. Felt pampered by the friendly waitstaff. Spacious seating in the booth. And a soundtrack the makes the vibe. All my senses were taken care of!

This restaurant is such a lovely neighborhood spot! Perfect for date nights or special occasions…read more My partner and I came here on a Thursday around 6:45pm and the tables were roughly half full when we arrived. We ordered the Caesar salad with pomegranate seeds and pink peppercorn, as well as the wood-roasted pork belly with squash mole to start, and split the marinated flank steak. The dishes were very vegetable heavy, which we loved, since it didn't leave us feeling heavy at the end of the meal. The pork belly was our favorite dish, as it was so incredibly tender and packed with flavor. The steak was cooked perfectly and we really enjoyed the pepitas seeds mixed in. In retrospect, I think we definitely should have ordered the glassy potato, which we were advised was a menu standout, but we didn't listen!! Everything was delicious though, I just will definitely have to come back to try this dish! I do wish their outdoor patio was better heated, I was super cold throughout the meal and had to use my partner's coat to cover my legs. I also wish they gave people the option to book covered patio vs. indoor as I definitely would have preferred to sit inside the main part of the restaurant. Still recommend though!
