I was introduced to Tsuri during Covid - the food was and always has been excellent. The IN the restaurant experience is much better than delivery. The food gets 5 stars - Unfortunately on more than a few occasions I've received food with no utensils, no napkins, no dipping sauce. These orders are usually between $150 and $200. This is unacceptable. I'm choosing not to order from them again. I think it's a bad brand decision to not include these things. Incredible sushi. Super fresh fish. Great flavors. The escolar sushi was perfection. The sushi chefs were super sweet and helped us picked things we'd like from their menu based on what we typically enjoy. We had several rolls that were so flavorful and fresh. The fabulous woman working came by to say "hi" and had a lil chat with us. She offered us a sample of their peach Sake because we loved the Sake flight and were curious about the other flavors. Last night I got to experience this amazing sushi restaurant! We traveled almost an hour to try this place and it did not disappoint! As someone who is gluten free and is usually limited at any sushi restaurant, this place had so many options. They have gluten free crispy rice, gluten free eel sauce, soy sauce and spicy mayo! They can make most things gluten free and are super knowledgeable on what is safe to eat. I will definitely be back very soon! Everyone says to get the Hye but that was ok. There are probably other sushi pieces that were better that we didn't get since this was the one that was recommended. The jalapeno on the sexy roll was extremely spicy, so take that off if you don't like spicy. Everything here was pretty average. I don't usually write sushi reviews, I feel LA county has thousands of sushi restaurants it's hard to find any that stand out. With that being said I rarely am a repeat customer to sushi establishments. I'm a sushi addict, I have it a few times a week and read about this spot and wanted to check it out. I'm a harsh critic, but felt this was outstanding from the food, to the service. I made a reservation on Open Table and found just the time that I wanted. I was seated as soon as I arrived, and was greeted by a friendly face. We ordered the Omakase so we could try a bit of everything. The overall quality of the fish was excellent, very fresh, and very tasty. Everything that was brought to us was delicious and inventive. A huge highlight was the seared Toro. Delicious, and instagram worthy. They knew I was bringing my little brother here for his Birthday, and they brought us out a complimentary Tempura Fried Green Tea Ice Cream with a candle which was not only thoughtful and delicious, but it really made this birthday something very special. The service was outstanding. My water glass was never half empty, and they were very friendly and attentive and the timing of how they brought the food out was perfect, while clearing plates in a timely manner which is a big pet peeve of mine. Well done Tsuri! Exceptional service, great food, cute atmosphere, and easy metered parking on a side street. Hate to write a bad one, but went out for dinner and got embarrassingly slow service and rude waitress. Waited an hour for two pieces of sashimi. Also had an allergy to cucumber, and made it clear not to add it to the roll, which was bought out over an hour later. At that point my boyfriend and I had to leave, and pay for only what was served. Which was the sashimi. We were offered dessert, but what good would that do if we hadn't had dinner? Point is, don't under staff your chefs and make your customers wait an hour with no water refills or check ups or apologies. Customer service AND customer experience should be a priority next to great food. When it is not, I never would recommend. read more

Went to this restaurant for a late lunch and no one was there which seemed a little off because it's on Melrose Ave. but anyway I ordered the lunch special sushi A - assortment of 5 sashimi pieces with a salmon roll. The yellowtail and albacore was great, the salmon and tuna was okay, and the shrimp was not good. The salmon roll was all rice and not much flavor at all with no type of sauce of any sort. I also ordered the Philadelphia roll which was okay but I'm not a fan of cream cheese and they put a lot on this roll. I didn't like the shrimp tempura roll either. As a result I just ordered the wrong rolls! But the restaurant itself was really nice and clean. The waitress was very nice. And they gave us complimentary matcha ice cream for checking in with yelp! I'd go back to try new rolls because I really want to like this place! I'm always on melrose and love sushi. read more

Great sushi! We came on a busy holiday night but the owner warned the food would take longer (her honesty was very refreshing). However we were pleasantly surprised and our food came faster than expected. To start we got the garlic edamame which was really good. We really liked our hot night and salmon jalapeño rolls. Thanks for your reply Wendy but it's not nice to increase the price for your customers on postmates, etc. just because they charge you 30%. The prices are really high and I want to support you but not to cover the expenses you incur by using those 3rd party delivery apps. I've never heard of other restaurants doing that it's not nice to your customers that are trying to support you. Love the sushi as you can see from my prior posts. I really love Tsuri sushi but I'm not happy with the prices. I hadn't been here or ordered from here for over a year and I had take out from Tsuri tonight. Although it was delicious, I was so shocked to see the prices. I don't know if they increased the prices or if I hadn't paid attention before but it's unusually expensive. This place isn't that fancy to be charging that much! Quality of the food is good but not that good to be charging over $20 for one cut roll. What a good sushi restaurant on Melrose. Came to Tsuri during lunch hour and wasn't disappointed on the quality and the cuts of the fish that were served. They have a great lunch menu and for the price. You'll be leaving the restaurant happy and full. SUSHI: Lunch Chirashi Bowl $15. This bowl is consist with beautiful cuts of medium fatty toro, salmon, yellowtail, albacore, bonito, spicy tuna, blue crab, and Ikura. With were all fresh and melt in your mouth delicious. One of the better chirashi bowl out there and I do eat a lot of it. Sushi Lunch Special $13. What a deal on this one as well. 5 pcs of nigiri and you can choose either one of the 5 different rolls, or 3 different types of sashimi and 2 different types of sashimi salad. My wife went with the alba abla roll which was fantastic. It had spicy albacore inside and freah albacore outside top with cripsy onions and drizzle with ponzu. Golden Eye Snapper : Saw this on the menu and had to get this. One of my favorite fish to get. The fish has a fatty texture and just simply melts in your mouth. Perfectly made and no dipping require. We just ordered delivery via Eat24 and are pretty disappointed. We had an avocado roll, a California roll, vegetable tempura roll and shrimp tempura roll. They packed the vegetarian items in the SAME container as the non-vegetarian items. So the avocado roll and the California roll were packed basically on top of each other. This is a big mistake that no good sushi place would make. Vegetarian dishes and dishes containing meat should ALWAYS be packaged separately because, you know, vegetarians AVOID meat. Besides the packaging, the quality of the sushi was not solid. My California roll has some sort of bright pink paste in it. Maybe that's a crab paste? It looks and tastes pretty gross. That same bright pink paste showed up in the Shrimp Tempura roll. So maybe this time it's a shrimp paste? It's so unappetizing to look at. There also appear to be some sort of sweet things in the tempura roll -- maybe mango or some kind of melon? Between the bright pink paste and the fruit I feel like I'm at a luau... not eating sushi. My new favorite sushi place in LA! I made a reservation for 7:30pm on Friday and my table was ready for me upon arrival. There's a lot across the street that is $5 with validation. I ordered the salmon sashimi and it was so fresh! The alba alba roll had generous helpings of albacore and was adorned with a nice light sauce. We also had the bluefin tuna sushi which was also fresh. The sushi chef was very kind and offered us a sashimi dish on the house so we were able to try out another delicious fish. WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN ALL MY LIFE. (Sorry, exaggerating here...) hahaha I wanted to have a nice girls night with my friend to talk and drink a little (they don't serve alcohol) and stumbled into this little joint. We called ahead just in case there was going to be a wait but luckily we got seated right away. The place was pretty small the sushi bar is in the middle like my friend said the bar isn't high up so it doesn't intimidate you and it's almost eye-level with the chefs so it was an interesting experience. We ordered the toro medley first. FIRST THINGS FIRST. TORO . TORO . TORO. and.... did I mention TORO? hahaha It comes with Tuna, chu-toro, o-toro and seared toro... I ALMOST CRIED EATING EACH PIECE. They did an excellent job differentiating the toros.. haha You can actually SEE the difference and TASTE the difference. The HYE was recommended by the chef and I do not regret ordering that what so ever. It was very soft, like a cloud..(in a good way) hahaha The oyster uni ikura concoction .. that's basically heaven on earth. Kanpachi was extremely fresh, well they did tell us that was one of THE fresh items at the location. The staff were very friendly and very accommodating to the customers.
