The first time I went to a Ume at a different location, I got the boba milk tea and it wasn't very good. What made me come back was their snacks. I wanted to try the fried octopus since the fried chicken was delicious and perfectly fried last time. And for drinks, I wanted to try what they seem to be known for - their yogurt drinks. I got the oat burst sticky rice, and the first sip had me kind of confused because the yogurt was quite potent. I mixed it up and got some of the purple rice and popping oat pieces, and after that sip, I could not put it down!! It was so yummy; it had the perfect amount of sweetness from the purple rice and tartness from the yogurt. In addition to the great flavor combination, you get fun textures from the popping out pieces and the purple rice! I would definitely recommend this drink/dessert and would love to try another flavor next time. The fried octopus was crispy, almost like a chip, but still had a great chewy to it, and the dry rub seasoning was salty, slightly spicy and peppery, in the best way possible. Portion is very generous as well! 2 out of the 2 snacks I've tried so far were amazing and I would definitely recommend. The wait time at this location was quite long though, we ordered at 9:26pm and received the drink at 9:50pm... don't know if I would sit and wait for 25min again so check for a better time to go if you don't want to wait long.
Cute little spot with really nice decor and a relaxed, welcoming vibe. I tried the sticky rice and matcha latte. The matcha latte was good, but I wasn't completely sold on the sticky rice, the consistency was a little off and not quite what I was expecting. Still, I enjoyed the overall experience and would come back to try some of their other options.
I got the Mandarin Ice Tea. It tastes like artificial mandarin and is very sweet. Chestnut popping boba tastes like artificial chestnut. Green Tea Jelly tastes like green tea and is very sweet. The drinks came out within 5 minutes. This is a great place to get boba late at night when you have a craving. There's little seating outside the store. Parking lot is full during lunch and dinner hours so try not to go at those times!
Came by for some popcorn chicken the other day and it was a tasty experience. Ordered ahead via the website and my order was ready upon arrival. The popcorn chicken was hot and fresh. The chicken was lightly breaded and came with a few sticks to eat along with a few pieces of basil for fragrance. The counter was staffed by an uncle.
UME just released the cutest summer drink - the Cha Cha Bowl! It's loaded with textures and flavors, featuring shredded coconut, bread crumbs, mini taro balls, diced watermelon, sago, and coconut milk. Everything comes together surprisingly well, creating a refreshing and satisfying treat. It's even better paired with their signature fried chicken strips. I'm also obsessed with their dessert bowl, packed with purple rice, taro balls, mochi, and taro. Sooo good!

This is the best UME location in south bay because they have items on the menu they don't have at other locations like the bento boxes! Specifically I get the braised beef and mushroom bento box which is super good and you can't get at other locations. The kimchi, fish balls and sides it comes with are good too. I also ordered the oat burst sticky rice yogurt drink and it was amazing - I LOVE all their yogurt based drinks and I don't know other boba places in south bay that have these type of drink. The drink was amazing and food was solid. This specific location is popular so the wait was a bit long on a sunday night ~30 min but it's worth it! It's in a plaza with a lot of good chinese food and ranch 99 so you can look around while waiting. Keep in mind this location has no seating, but the plaza itself has some outdoor benches you can sit and eat/drink.
I have been going to Ume Tea for 7 years now, maybe longer. This is the 1st and original location. The interior use to be very cute with photo ops and very pink inside. Now, fast forward 7 years later, the interior is a big mess with bags and boxes everywhere, no more photo ops and doesn't give me the Ume Tea vibe like the other new locations. I ordered 2 mango coconut blue drinks yesterday and there was really no one there in the afternoon. The drinks took about 20 minutes which was very very long compared to the other busier locations. After several sips, it didn't have the coconut flavor and tasted like milk instead. Also, I noticed that customers kept on coming up to the staff wondering about their drinks and other questions but the staff seemed confused and didn't know. I don't know how the original location went downhill like this. This location seems neglected in terms of vibe, service and quality. I hope they can fix these small issues so that it stands up to all of their other locations.
It looked weird when they used past season Christmas cup in February. Not sure if I still like their products as first impressions count, the past holiday design cup was off putting. I think they tried to use up old inventory but why not use them next year? Ordered a Pistachio Jasmine delight, the topping was slimy. Didn't like it too much. There are a plethora of boba shops in the same plaza, a total of five with a new one just opened, it seems Ume doesn't care about competitions. Outdoor seating continued to be a disaster. Unfortunately a hard pass this time.
Overall excellent experience and tasty ingredients, tea, and bouncy tapioca pearls! Get the large for $1 more 5/5 Coco Mango was so fruity, with real fresh mango puree and the tiny sago pearls and coconut cream. Pearls were warm and had a chewy bouncy texture. Drink tasted like summer! 4.5/5 Milk tea with taro and boba was also quite good I appreciate the real taro paste. It's not as sweet overall vs the fruit drink

Rating - 4 Stars If you're looking for a drink that's closer to a light dessert, their Mango Pomelo Sago is pretty refreshing with a slight creaminess. The occasional hits of tartness from the pomelo give a nice contrast and the sago offer a soft rice kind of texture. I added their mochi for a different kind of soft chewy texture, which was initially pretty hard to slurp, but it eventually broke up. It's a bit pricey and on the smaller side though, so not sure if it's worth ordering again. read more

I ordered the Strawberry Matcha Milk Tea w/ Matcha Ice Cream ($5.75) - I really liked how they added matcha ice cream in this drink. The drink was light n creamy. If you have a sweet tooth then I would recommend getting extra sweet! Mango Pomelo Sago ($5.75) - has a creamy texture and was sweet! However the cup was so small for the price Taro & Mochi Black Tea Latte ($6.55) - has real taro chunks and I like how there is a layer of mochi in the drink!! I would recommend shaking the drink. I also paid an extra ($.80) for an upgrade. Fried Tofu ($6.95) - very mini and cute! would get this again as a light snack This place has a 15-20 min wait so I would recommend ordering online before hand! They have the cutest bunny logo! I've been here plenty of times before but I'm so surprised I haven't given them a review yet!! The drinks I've had before was GOOOOOD and so creamy!!! came to ume tea when they first rolled out their bunny surprise cups & i was lucky to get my fav animal plush which is a penguin! i think the concept is really unique b/c you get a surprise plush at the bottom of your drink & a drink on top! my usu is a boba mochi milk tea & you can adjust the sugar to 0%! don't forget to rip off the paper at the bottom or else your cup/drink will spill b/c there's no weight to hold the cup up it happened to me before & i spilled my whole drink ): read more

I usually love Ume Tea, but this visit was not good :( We ordered 2 of the Grape Four Seasons Tea w/ Tea Jelly and it was absolutely delicious! The grape flavor was well balanced, not too sweet or sour, and the tea jelly balanced out the drink well. After finishing 1/3 of my drink, I noticed a black dot floating inside of the drink. I was hopeful that it was a tea leaf, ...but it was not. I took a closer look and noticed legs and 2 antennae on the black dot, and realized it was an ant. I checked the other drink I purchased for my mom and saw 2 ants inside! (not pictured) It was a hot day so I assume that's why this occurred, since this has never happened to me at this particular location. I probably won't be visiting this location again for a while. : ( read more

I've been to Ume Tea a few times and have had a good experience! As someone who's not a fan of really sweet drinks, I order my drinks here at 30% sweetness which is perfect. I've been to other boba shops where I've ordered 25 or 30% sweetness and it was still too sweet for my liking. Most recently I tried the Milk Tea with Pearls here at Ume and it was pretty good! Not super strong, and easy to finish. I've also tried some of their fruity drinks, like the grapefruit and peach green teas, and found those to be quite refreshing. They have a menu posted on the door, as well as a QR code you can scan with your phone to view the menu digitally and order through there, which is pretty efficient. It can get pretty crowded, but out of all my times coming here, I've never had to wait longer than 15 minutes for my drinks. Thankfully, it's also located in a nice plaza so there is plenty to explore while you're waiting. Overall, I'd recommend trying it if you're in the area! I look forward to returning soon and trying more boba drinks here. read more
There are way too many boba places in Bobatino that one could have boba from a different place every day for a month and still not be able to try each place! Ume is one of the 7 boba places in this one shopping center alone. I've walked by it on my way to my favorite one but thought I'd try Ume this time since it popped up on my Yelp search. I tried their black milk tea with boba and taro and unfortunately was not impressed. The drink was actually kind of bland and I could not taste the tea. Sigh I had such high hopes! Service was efficient though. You just walk up and order from the kiosk. While you're waiting you could check out one of their plushy merchandise. I might try a different drink here next time but it might be more more than a month before I do. So many boba... read more

Out of all six or seven of the boba shops in this plaza, I actually really liked this one a lot. The drinks were very reminiscent of Hong Kong desserts and it brought back great memories. It was also the only place I noticed that seemed to have a line for drinks but that could also be due to the annoying ordering system. LOL One thing to note though is that the order system is through an electronic menu to the right when you go inside and finding your drink could take some time which holds up the line. I guess it makes sense since the workers were in constant motion in the back but also took quite a bit of time to order instead. What makes it worse is that some of the items on the general menu don't match the same wording on the electronic ordering system so we had to hold up the line and ask a worker. If there was one major complaint it would have been this alone. Aside from the ordering system the drinks were quite good, I ordered their Mango Pomelo Sago drink and it was blissful. I was immediately brought back to my favorite memories in HK and it was the perfect amount of sugar at 50% sugar. I wouldn't ask for more if you're sugar sensitive and it just hit the spot. The drink had a creamy texture that is a bit overly sweet at the beginning before you mix the mango with the sago on the bottom. After mixing the drink you get a velvety texture that is somewhat like a light pudding. I highly recommend this drink albeit it is a little pricey at $5.50 Overall, I think this is definitely a must try place if you're in the area as there seems to be a large crowd but the main issue is their ordering system is a bit slow if you're not familiar with the categories of drink types. read more

Popcorn chicken - Flavor is great! Mine was not as hot as hope. I was waiting there soon I picked up when it's ready. Can be a little bit more crispy as well. Braised Ground Pork Rice Bowl Bento Box - I love that flavor, lover that they put decent amount of sauce in the rice. The fried tofu and pot stickers are a little cold. Otherwise, the mixed pork and rice are very tasty. Milk tea with cheese top - I would say it'll be better if they used the sealed cup (flat top) then the round cup with tape on the straw hole. It's very clumsy trying to mixed the cheese top with the tea cause I can't shake it and it'll spill. Otherwise, there flavor is good. I order just cheese top (not brown sugar one) and 1/4 sugar and still taste pretty good. For those who has no high blood sugar can just get any level of sugar. Milk tea with glass jelly - we have been to many milk tea place for glass jelly. Most of them are fresh home made glass jelly but this one taste very chewy, I assume it's purchased and not home made. read more
