Everything we have tried here has been delicious. We usually go with B1 special, B3 grilled pork, or B4 pork belly. The bread is warm and crispy and veggies are fresh. Their drinks looked really amazing, so I thought I'd try one... Ended up getting a Mango Iced Tea. Thought it was a little expensive but wanted one anyways, then I realized why it was pricey. This morning while an acquaintance and I were getting McDonald's, I noticed Urbánh Café's "OPEN" sign was turned on. Curious, I went to check and was not surprised that the business hours listed on the door matched the business hours listed on Yelp. A few hours later, we returned to the plaza, this time to try Urbánh. Some of my former acquaintances had previously visited Urbánh for a Friday night social, and one of them even wrote a five-star review for them. I wanted to check it out myself, hoping that Urbánh would do justice to my previous experience at Bambū three years ago. My acquaintance hadn't been to Bambū and was surprised to witness the interior of the former Dairy Queen. Like Bambū, Urbánh's interior is very well-decorated. When we walked in, there were two other pairs of customers waiting for their orders to be called. They both ordered chè and Bánh mì. Unlike Bambū, the woman behind the counter did not greet me when I approached and was not very enthusiastic to have me as a customer. I ordered a large black milk tea and a large strawberry yogurt. The strawberry yogurt looked especially enticing given the photos I viewed on Yelp and on their website. When I received the order, the woman behind the counter hurriedly told me, "Have a Good Day!" and went back into the kitchen to chat with the other lady. Although no other customers were present, I found it rude to assume that I would not want to order again or leave right away, as I found their rose strawberry milk tea and sea salt teas tempting. Like Bambū, the milk tea was delicious, but the cup was filled half way with ice. This was the very thing that put me off when I visited Bambū in the first place (in addition to Bambū's owner ignoring my review). I appreciated the taste of the fresh strawberries of the strawberry yogurt, and I could taste the yogurt in the first few sips. Afterwards, the strawberry yogurt tasted bland and the un-blended ice chunks were harsh on my teeth. I did not keep my receipt, but comparing Urbánh's prices to similar establishments, both Bambū's and Urbánh's prices are steeper. I was previously curious to try their rose strawberry milk tea and sea salt teas, however, given my above experience, I found my self to have been Bambūzled. read more

Ok my prediction was right: I assumed the newer independent bahn mi shop across from Lee's is probably going to be better and it was. I've been there several times since I work in the area. I normally get the chicken or the grilled pork banh and they are always delicious. Both the filler ingredients and the bread are fresh and flavorful. You can tell they take a little more care and prep than the larger chain type places. Lee's is still good though if you want some more selection and a larger dining area. But Urbanh wins on their sandwiches! read more

I had the grilled pork bahn mi with everything. The bread was light and crunchy, as other reviewers have said, but there was barely any pork in the sandwich. If they had left it out entirely, the sandwich probably would have tasted about the same. So that was disappointing. Very often, when we go eat somewhere.....the place is empty. 15 minutes later, the place starts to pick up and people are everywhere. We believe we are walking, living customer attracting people! Same thing happened here. We walk in and it was empty. Someone came up to the register from behind the wall. There were 3 booths and 2 tables. We wanted to sit in a booth and all of them were dirty. I'm not sure if they were busy before we got there, but the tables needed to be wiped down. We grabbed some napkins and wiped down our table. The customers after us approached a booth, but then sat at the tables because they were dirty. The banhmi was pretty delicious. The grilled pork was tasty and the veggies were fresh. The baguette was crunchy and hard on the outside, and soft on the inside.....in the best possible way. They were bigger than I had expected which was good. The place was full of people when we left, but they were all in line to buy deserts (boba etc). I left that place thinking that banhmi was a secondary menu item and their specialty was deserts. This was my second time going to this sandwich shop, it's the first time acquiring this sought after sandwich. Our first visit was on a weekday around 7 pm, we were told that they only have a certain amount of bread and once that runs out everybody is out of luck. There were still smoothies available for purchase at that time. We asked approximately what time they run out of sandwiches daily, they said it depends on the day, sometimes as early as 1 pm. The second time around we went around 1230 on a Sunday and we were able get our hands on these glorious sandwiches. The hype was definitely real! This is one of the best banh mi sandwiches in the valley. The bread is a standout ingredient, very soft on the inside and flaky and delicious on the outside. The sandwich was big but can definitely be consumed in one sitting because the bread is not heavy. The chicken was marinated very well and the sauce on the sandwich was the bomb!!! The only grievance I have is the sandwich shop running out of sandwiches because they are too popular. I feel like a great way to keep customers informed about the supply of these sandwiches would be to post on instagram when they are sold out to prevent disappointed customers. read more

My family own restaurants in Cali, changing orders or remaking food to please customers are never issues. No need to go back any place who doesn't have decency to try customer service. I had a craving for banh mi and decided to check this place out. I ordered the grilled pork banh mi. The sandwich was good and flavorful but there were a few issues. The bread had good texture but the outter shell of the bread didn't have that crunch. I also added extra meat but didn't notice a significant amount of extra meat. I didn't add extra veggies but I should have because it was lacking in veggies. With the extra meat my sandwich was already $10. I just feel like I paid too much for the sandwich and didn't get enough filling in return. I might give this place another shot since the flavor was good. read more
