Golden Era is a 100% vegan Vietnamese spot with delicious noodle soups. I ordered the vegan crab…read morenoodle soup (bun rieu chay) and it tasted so close to the traditional non-vegan version. The tomato-based broth was the best part of the whole bowl, a bit sour, light, comforting and full of flavor. It came with tofu, soy protein, green herbs and all the toppings went well together, super addicting! I came around 5:30pm, so it was pretty quiet and easy to get seated. Their menu is also hugeeeeee, with everything from banh mi, noodle soups, entrees and rice plates to desserts and drinks. You'll want to come with a group so everyone can order different dishes to share. Highly recommend if you're in SF and looking for a great vegan restaurant, or even if you're not vegan and just want to explore unique twists of Vietnamese dishes!

Nostalgic af, really appreciate the consistency of their food and their service. Try anything once, I keep gravitating towards the same 4 dishes that I love so much, but I would love to be adventurous and try something different each visit. Disregard the neighborhood that it's in, that doesn't impact the food. Parking is sort of few & far between, but there is a parking garage close by if you're in a pinch. Oh ya... their vegan desserts are to die for... how could you not?

Everything sounds delicious but the sample plates pack the most punch. I love plantains so having those figure prominently, with delicious rice and plant based chicken, is perfect. The service is incredibly fast and easy, and being at Saluhall, you get to take advantage of other vendors and a full a bar. It felt a little quiet on a Friday night but places like Casa Borinquena definitely make it a destination for me. Go now if you've been waiting. Casa Borinquena is not to be missed.

Definitely go upstairs and explore Casa Borinquena. If you're wondering what Market Street has to offer, duck inside IKEA. There are many seating areas. Yes, in addition to IKEA's viral food court, there's so much more. Saluhall opened with all-vegan vendors but things have shifted back to meat and dairy. Case Borinquena is the last standing all-vegan stall. This is Caribbean soul food and it's so good. If you're looking for a salad or something light, this is not for you. This food will fill you up and leave you wanting more. Loaded Tostones is pumped up with nacho-ish toppings. Served with a thick and tasty mama sauce. I was dunking everything into that sauce. I opted for the side of tostones because I was craving the crunchy plantain. It was crisp perfection! Lulu's Famous Pastelillo filled with vegan beef or chicken was another winner for me. The dough was fried perfectly and I loved the chicken filling flavor. Chef's kiss. Coquito cake is on the menu! If you love eggnog, get this right now. I want to return for the sampler plate. At $20, it's cheaper than a flight to Puerto Rico. Pro-tip: first hour of parking is free!

Super delicious vegan place only steps from the opera house!…read more We went here for dinner after seeing the Barber of Seville matinee and were super impressed with the options and the ambiance this place provided. We sat at the bar and it was relatively quiet though by the time we left there was a line forming at the door to get in. We got a few drinks, "crab" arancini, "Chk'n" Paella, and the "Choriqueso" Empanadas. Our favorite was the paella - the skewers were really delicious - although everything on the menu looked and tasted good. Could not tell anything was vegan. Would definitely come back and try a few of the other dishes!

A great spot offering plenty of gluten-free and vegan options near Civic Center!…read more My friend and I stopped by this spot on a Friday during Happy Hour to grab some quick bites. Since this is near the Civic Center, spots are limited, so public transit is the best way to get here! Inside was very aesthetically pleasing and inviting, with the windows stretching up the wall to the ceiling, and a modern bar. At that moment, we weren't really looking for drinks, just bites, so I do not have any opinions yet on their drink selection. We ordered the "crab" arancini, which came with jackfruit, lemon garlic, salsa macha aioli, and guajillo, and the barbacoa nachos. The arancini was okay, and did not stand out as much as I would have liked. The panko crust on it was on the thicker side, so it had a bit of a harder exterior, but I will say I did like how well the jackfruit was incorporated and added depth to the dish. I wish that I could taste a bit more of that lemon in the lemon garlic. The barbacoa nachos were delicious, and I liked how they paired the nachos with jalapenos and pickled onions for a nice flavor composition. The jackfruit blended well and added some savory, "meaty" flavoring to the dish that worked. Overall, for a restaurant that specializes in vegan food, this was a great choice! I thought the service was great as well, and they were very accommodating to our party when it came to dietary needs, which is always appreciated.

A Perfect Celebration at Greens…read more We celebrated Mother's Day and a birthday at Greens Restaurant, and it was nothing short of magical. The Marina weather was flawless, the Fort Mason views were stunning, and--miraculously--parking was plentiful. A perfect start. We arrived early and were warmly welcomed by a gracious front desk who seated us with ease, even gifting us beautiful roses at the table. The service was outstanding--attentive without being intrusive (our water glasses never dipped below two‑thirds full). The food exceeded expectations. Highlights included incredibly fresh spring rolls, a crave‑worthy falafel platter, and the Asparagus Pizza, which was crisp, bright, and refreshingly different with lemon ricotta and herbs. Dessert sealed the experience--the Chocolate Hazelnut Passion Fruit Torte was indulgent, balanced, and unforgettable. Why we loved Greens: * Outstanding views * Plentiful parking * Attentive, thoughtful service * Fresh, seasonal, local ingredients Greens delivered thoughtful hospitality, inspired vegetarian cuisine, and a serene setting--an ideal place for a special celebration. We can't wait to return.

Walking in I wasn't sure what to expect because it looked pretty run down. I wasn't expecting fine-dining, but the place didn't have a welcome feel. We were the first table in when they opened, but unfortunately the service felt a bit cold from the start. Our server seemed disengaged, which set a less welcoming tone for the meal. The food was just okay for us. Our kids enjoyed their spring rolls and "chicken" nuggets, which were an easy win. However, the entrees we ordered were quite salty and didn't have much depth of flavor. Afterwards, we realized they don't use garlic or onion, which would have been helpful to know ahead of time since it really affects the flavor profile. If we had known that, we likely would have chosen a different spot. Overall, it wasn't quite what we were expecting given the menu and reviews. It wasn't terrible, but it didn't stand out for us in a city with so many great food options.
