Got a Uji Matcha Tofu too but not pictured. - Matcha Einspanner: At first sip, great matcha taste and perfect sweetness for me (reference: I like boba drinks at 60-80% sweetness). It's smooth but strong in matcha taste. The cream was not too sweet or heavy. Definitely recommend! - Strawberry Matcha Latte: This was a perfect balance of strawberry and matcha! Strawberry flavor is there without tasting artificial. Matcha is smooth. Great option to pick! - Peach Tea: I wasn't a fan of this one, but there was a strong peach flavor. Unfortunately, it was also very floral but not in a good way -- almost like perfume for me. Also, got this 75% ice but it looks quite a lot of ice still. I would skip this drink for now. - Uji Matcha Tofu (not pictured): Interesting combo when you first hear it, but it works! Think of the flavor of a matcha latte with a soy milk substitute. There are other concoctions to add to the latte like matcha, pandan, coconut, etc. The space is cozy (aka tight) and has big windows giving the brightness so perfect for hanging out or catching up with friends -- all the seats were taken so I ended up ordering togo. Since they're new, the service is still finding its rhythm, so don't be surprised if things take a little longer than usual. The drinks seem out of arrangement ...I see customers who had ordered way before still waiting for their foods and those that ordered after me got their coffee before mine. Sadly, I came to try their famous pistachio-cream croissant. They were having their 1 year anniversary BOGO deal for their tofu matcha this past Saturday so I stopped by for that. I heard there was a photo booth but I missed it. My friends and I got in line towards the end/corner or the building and we got to the door in 35 minutes, then waited about 5 min at the door to order at the kiosk. Someone that looks like the owner was at the door making sure to guide people in line to the kiosk and also the register to order. There is one row of bar seating, and around 7-9 tables inside and I think it would be a nice spot to come study or chat with friends on a regular business day (since I went for their anniversary it was hectic). Even though it was a crazy day for the employees, I saw them check every receipt when a customer was called to pick up their order which means they are making sure all orders are picked up correctly. My friend ordered a box of beignets and they were fluffy and delicious! Just fyi they are much bigger than the ones on display. They also had other pastries. Unfortunately, we waited around 25-30 minutes for it to come out with barely any powdered sugar on it :/ Either way, it was hot, fluffy, and not too sweet. Not comparable to Disneyland's beignets though. Our cashier did not hand us a receipt, but only our buzzer. Our buzzer might've mistakenly went off because when we came to pick up, another customer received a box of beignets. Came here to try their matcha since my brother wanted to check this place out. I ordered the Matcha Latte with regular whole milk, instead of their default oat milk. It had a rich green color but was too sweet, even with less sugar, which is surprising. I think most of their drinks are made with oat milk unless you request otherwise, which makes it lactose-friendly. We also ordered the Strawberry Matcha Latte, Ube Matcha Latte, Matcha Einspänner, and Vietnamese coffee. All matches and teas come in 20 oz sizes, which is pretty big. The einspänner was the least sweet, with a light pandan flavor, while the others were all too sweet for my taste. The Vietnamese coffee was especially disappointing because it tasted both sweet and watered down. My sister wanted a mini croissant ($0.85) as a drink topper for her photo, so we also got that, but I thought the croissants themselves looked stale and lacked flakiness. The texture reminded me of the ones you'd get from Costco. They offer a wide variety of pastries (croissants, almond croissants, pistachio or avocado filled croissants, pate chaud, pandan cake roll, tofu pudding, cheesecake) and even savory croissants (beef, pork, or chicken), but none looked particularly good. The beignets were the highlight of our visit. They were light, fluffy, and airy. The dipping sauce was creamy and thick, more like a filling than a sauce. It wasn't custardy, eggy, or drippy, just rich and smooth. I expected more like the condensed milk texture, which is what the beignets at Lily's Bakery are served with. The atmosphere is much more social than study-friendly. There are lots of cushioned armchairs and tables, but it's not very quiet. Free Wi-Fi, water, and clean bathrooms are available. Also, weird note, but the cashier was overly enthusiastic and repeatedly said everything was good, which felt forced since we knew we wouldn't want to upgrade the size for the dipping sauce. The cashier walked away for a minute when it was my turn to order and someone who I guess was the manager/supervisor stepped in to take my order after she saw that I was standing there and waiting. I decided to get the ube latte and the pistachio croissant. Both items came out to $9 which is very fair. The croissant was only 3.50. I also liked their mini croissants but I didn't order any. Their menu is pretty comprehensive with a variety of drinks, sandwiches, and pastries. The wait was a bit long but the customers were patient. I did observe the way they were handing out orders, which is a point they can improve on. For instance, orders with multiple drinks came out in order regardless of single order drinks sitting on the table. My single ube latte sat on the counter for a few minutes and wasn't being handed out so after waiting I just asked for it and was on my way. Im sure they can figure out a better system. Anywho, the ube latte was pretty good. It would probably rank it in my top 5 ube coffee drinks. Viland coffee came across my Instagram page, the little croissants sold me so I knew I had to try! The coffee shop is pretty spacious with a decent amount of seating and modern aesthetic. It's fairly new so there was a line out the door but the line moved at a good pace! My husband ordered the Viland latte, Vietnamese coffee with a crème brûlée foam on top. Coffee tasted nice and strong and cold foam was rich and sweet. 9.5/10 I got the strawberry matcha, one of my firsts and it tasted pretty good. The strawberry purée added a nice fruity flavor. This place is having its moment on social media and for good reason; the inside is super aesthetic and the drinks and pastries are beautiful. They did an amazing job with the interior. The matcha cream coffee was amazing- strong and sweet Vietnamese coffee/cafe sua da topped with thick creamy matcha foam. And topped with a mini croissant (additional 85 cents) for that perfect picture! And the beignets were to die for!! Served warm with a light dusting of powdered sugar. The outside was slightly crisp with a slightly chewy but still airy interior. I should I've got a whole box of these! Now for the bad... maybe it was my fault for getting a matcha at viet cafe but it was one of the worst drinks I've ever had. The drink was almost all milk. And the little bit of matcha that was on top was premade and barely a tablespoon was squirted on. I understand cafes premaking stuff but this matcha was grainy and the ratios were WAY off in the drink. And the strawberry syrup on the bottom was nonexistent in taste. What's even more annoying was the huge bits of diced strawberry that kept getting stuck in my straw. They should puree the strawberry syrup and not just cut up pieces and throw it in the cup. I paid $7.50 for a cup of oat milk that didn't taste of matcha or strawberry. Very disappointing.
