We had an amazing meal at Wakadu. I started with the Ichigo Fields cocktail which was good but a bit sweet. The restaurant is upscale and chic yet romantic. There are so many options we decided to go for the 9 course tasting menu, and I kind of wish we'd done the 6 course because I was stuffed by the end! Highlights included the oysters served two ways, the salmon sashimi with parmesan cheese (a combo I wouldn't have expected to taste good), and the miso sea bass that melted in your mouth. We were a bit disappointed. We expected a little from this upscale place. We ordered the foie gras, thin sliced tuna, and Uni. The tuna was great with a little spice which was great. The two types of Uni we ordered were a little mushy on both kinds. The foie gras came under cooked so we sent it back. When it came back it was nicely seared but still stringy and not the type that melts in your mouth that I'm used to. We went to Bouchon the next day and got a 5***** foie gras. read more

I went here with my bf for our anniversary. This place is amazing and I can't recommend it enough. It's not cheap so this is definitely a special occasion spot unless you've got that bag to spend lol. My bf chose this place since we've already checked out other high end Japanese restaurants. The inside is darker than normal, but it's beautiful and intimate. Wakuda can create a special custom omakase for you based on your budget and what you like. We went with this option and our server was amazing. We told him we wanted more sushi than main dishes and everything was amazing! The truffle Parmesan salmon was our favorite. It was mind blowing! The ambience at Wakuda is beyond five stars. This place is a vibe for sure and is a great spot for a date (in the lounge) or a group outing (in the dining area). The music is great and, while it's loud, it's worth the strain. Also, the patio is much quieter and overlooks the strip, so could be great for a work dinner too. I wanted to love every single thing we ordered, but the food has some issues. Don't get me wrong, they get a LOT right and with a few changes, it could be ridiculously amazing. My main issue is that everything is over-sauced. The smoky beef tartare had a beautiful presentation but it was so heavily dressed that you couldn't really taste the meat. I know they use great quality beef...but I wouldn't know because I couldn't taste anything but sauce (which was too sweet for my taste, TBH). However, the nori chips that come with it are super unique and add the right amount of salt. The grilled octopus is hands-down the most tender octopus I've eaten in this city...but again, had so much (very sweet) sauce that it devalues the beautiful protein and how they treated it. The kanpachi carpaccio had incredible flavors and the sauces were delicious...if they didn't completely drench the fish. It was a bummer. The oysters were $10/piece and while those were phenomenal, they're 2-3/piece too much. The wine list is pretty great (and very impressive for a sushi restaurant) and the cocktails are fantastic (ironically, not nearly as sweet as any of the sauces). Other things we loved: the duck and the shishitos. I'd love to come pack and try more (non-sauced) sushi. read more

I came here with a friend on a Friday night with no reservations and got bar seating with a 15 min wait. It was so good I had to come back on Sunday. Food + Service + Drinks + Ambience + Value + First of all, the staff and especially the bartenders were soo accomodating. They humored me by making a special drink (the B+M) that was soo good that I got 4 of them in one sitting. It's like a greyhound with yuzu and shiso served like a martini. Wow. Second of all, the food here rivals places like Nobu, and I think it has better overall value and a more intimate setting. The bar/lounge area is perfect for a date night. The sushi was great, but I would focus on the dishes when you come here. The duck was out of this world. Very balanced (flavorful but not too sweet or salty) and perfectly cooked to medium rare. The smoked beef tartare also is a must have for every visit. I had it on both Friday and Sunday nights!! Overall, I think this was a better dining experience than Nobu (and I've been to the one in Malibu, LA, NYC and Vegas). Wakuda had a great vibe and definitely will be back with more friends! I narrowed this down to the nigiri as my friend who I had dinner with does not eat raw fish and he was fine. While eating the nigiri I did feel that the quality and freshness of both the fish / scallop and rice were sub par. I wanted to like Wakuda but after my experience post meal I will not be returning here. Basically, I ate here Saturday night, did all of the food poisoning things Sunday and Monday. Friends have sent me pics of the elegant Wakuda at Marina Bay Sands. Eater has teased of their $500 omakase experience. Giddy with excitement and... WTF?!? Underground yakuza bar in Rappongi meets Kill Bill. Garish works of art, LED lit sumo wrestlers, elegant it is not. The decor removes any expectation of an authentic, Michelin worthy Japanese dining experience. Reset your expectations to Americanized Japanese food with caviar thrown on everything because it's lux, pass on traditional nigiri and sashimi and you're good. "Sashimi toast". Yes, raw fish on toasted bread. It works. The toast, gently sweet, somewhat chewy topped with creme fraiche, a lightly soy marinated piece of tuna and topped with caviar, agreeable. Take the same toast, top it with properly cooked, finely diced citrus flavored lobster and caviar equally good. Honestly, order two, smash them together and enjoy a delicious slider. At a place like this, nigiri is boring. Opt for the "Wakuda Sushi". Get the A5 Wagyu. A little ball of sushi rice, lots of fresh grated wasabi and an oversized paper thin slice of A5 draped over. Pop the entire thing into your mouth at once and enjoy the melting beef fat. A sensual experience. The uni with wasabi marinated egg and aburi (torched) king salmon with a dot of yuzu kosho both equally creative and good. The absolute standout, simply called "yuba". Yuba, a chewy bean curd skin is set in a sublime umami charged chilled broth topped by uni, fresh grated wasabi and salty tonburi (mountain caviar). Brilliant combination of land and sea. Nice selection of sake and Japanese whiskey. If you're offered your choice of sake glass, opt for the edo kiriko (cut, colored glass). There is something about drinking from a work of art that makes the sake more enjoyable. Vegas resort pricing. Snacks for two, libations, inclusive, $500. On par with the other top Americanized Japanese Strip eateries: Morimoto and Nobu. read more

The wife and I were celebrating our wedding anniversary and we wanted to go somewhere that was new for the both of us. Wakuda at the Palazzo seemed to be a logical choice. While we could've chosen any number of excellent restaurants on the Strip let alone within the Venetian and Palazzo, we decided on Wakuda because we both love Japanese food and we both enjoy fine-dining. We had a 6 PM reservations on a Wednesday evening. We arrived a few minutes before our appointed time and were led almost immediately into the spacious, modern, dimly-lit dining room. My eyes were drawn immediately to a pair of life-size, ceramic (?) sumo wrestlers facing off on a raised stage in the center of the room. No sooner than we were seated, an eagle-eyed member of the service staff noticed that our table had a wobble, came over with a shim and fixed it. That was a strong first impression and a telling indicator of the attentive, knowledgeable service experience we received all evening long. We knew going in that we were going to have the 9-course Chef's Tasting Menu. So, while we waited for our first course to arrive, I started with a cocktail, a Son of Harajuku, made with Nikka Coffee Grain Whisky, Byrrh Quinquina, Aperol, and chocolate molé bitters. My drink was everything I like in a cocktail, booze-forward, bitter, yet balanced. Wakuda's cocktail game is strong and definitely something I would've explored further, but we decided to have sake with our food. Unfortunately, I know next to nothing about sake, but our server was well-versed on Wakuda's offerings and selected a couple of half-bottles, Hakuryu "White Dragon" and Tanaka Chartier Blend 001, based on our price parameters to pair with our food. His choices were on the mark, pairing nicely with our food. Our food struck all of the proper notes with me. It was beautifully presented, made with high-quality, fresh ingredients, and prepared with precision. It was pure indulgence with the generous and gratuitous (and I use "gratuitous" as a high compliment) amounts of chutoro, otoro, uni, Oscietra caviar, and A5 wagyu. From first course to last, it was truly an experience worthy of a special occasion such as an anniversary. Wakuda was not an inexpensive night out. That said, I felt we definitely got our money's worth. Everything about our experience to include the food, drink, and service but also the design of the restaurant and service exuded class and quality. Wakuda isn't for everyone especially the Chef's Tasting Menu. However, I loved it and would definitely go back especially if/when we're celebrating a special occasion. read more

A great way to celebrate my birthday last weekend at the newest Japanese restaurant, WAKUDA. My boyfriend made dinner reservations for the occasion so it's a must to make reservations especially when you are in Las Vegas. Located at the Venetian, this used to be the Morel's, French restaurant, pre-covid. Upon entering, you will immediately encounter the hostess counter with the name of the restaurant in bright lights of neon and to the right wall more neon graphics of art. As you keep walking which feels like a dark tunnel you will see the lounge portion straight ahead and to the right is the actual restaurant. We sat in a corner booth as we had a great overview of the restaurant. Lanterns glowing as it brought the moodiness and romantic vibes. Modern Japanese art with white statue of sumo wrestlers in the middle of the room and on each side has cherry blossoms. Nick, our server of the night was very informative, attentive and he was superb all around. He answered every question about the menu, cocktail and wine selection. Menu was very easy on the eyes. If you love sake, then this is the spot for you which they have an extensive Sake menu. Off the Grill, we started with the Octopus, then the Yakitori Skewers, we ordered beef, chicken and vegetable, (for the vegetable make sure you ask what kind of vegetable for the skewer because my boyfriend does not eat mushroom, so I was a team player and ate it). Following we had the Surf and Turf Flambe, the highlight of the evening. Food was very nourishing as it went well my cocktail the TLM, stands for The Lychee Martini and the Penfold's Bin 600, I believe it's a cabernet sauvignon and merlot from Australia, so in love with the wine. For dessert, I just did not have one but two desserts. I ordered the Miso Ice cream and the triple chocolate souffle. I recommend ordering the two together as it went very well together. VIBES: 5/5 If you're looking for Vibes, this is the place. It feels like it's going to transport you into a different dimension or something. SUPER dope.
