Okay. This place was delicious. I got the pan seared skate wing---amazing. I never had it before but it was delicious--if you like scallops and crab meat you will definitely like this. Grits which had corn kernels in it and grilled asparagus came with it and they were both complementary and very tasty I also got a cocktail and it was refreshing and strong. I took my wife to Wisteria for her birthday last night. When I made the online reservation, there was a box to check asking if it was special occasion. I checked "birthday" and asked for a candle in a little dessert. The day of the reservation, a manager called to confirm our table. When we spoke, I asked him about the birthday request. He went as far as to read the dessert selections and take our order in advance so it would be seamless. We arrived to the restaurant, ate, drank and had a good time. The waitress put down two dessert menus and took our order. I felt sly because of all the advance work I had put in. The waitress comes back and drops a plain dessert like a hockey puck, followed by the check. Before you dismiss this as someone whining about a first-world problem, consider these two points: - We don't go to $100+ dinners regularly. It was a special occasion. - Why ask if there are special requests if you're not going to follow through? I would have gladly taken her somewhere else to light a candle for her, but I was told it was being handled. It wasn't. Was it the end of the world? No. Was it a let down? Yes. Nobody was permanently scarred by this, but don't tell someone you're going to do something and then flake out. We won't be back to Wisteria. read more

disappointed. one of my neighborhood favorites, I took a client here last night and was disappointed by a number of food items as they were presented: - calamari: tiny portion of a few rings scattered about a plate (there were 4 of us). Looked nothing like the photo on the web site - oysters: ditto - Grouper: usually a "go-to" dish for me here, all 3 of us who ordered it (my recommendation to the table) received comically tiny piece of fish which was also way too salty. I had to try hard not to laugh when the plate with the tiny little fish was placed in front of me. Excellent food. Service was ok. Waiter at the next table seemed to be great though. They really need to explain what "mids" are on the menu. If they are apps, they should be at the beginning. What a wonderful meal! The special salad of the day was delicious with a blend of blackberries, lovely cheese, and other seasonal goodness! The gouda stuffed arancini and flash fried oysters were also delicious with the right about of breading. The low-country seafood stew had a nice blend of seafood and lovely flavors, especially the crawfish! The best dish of the night was the north Georgia mountain trout! We stopped by to try what many of my friends call amongst their top restaurants. I thought the service was awesome and although the dishes are a bit pricey I enjoyed my entree. The fried catfish was good but I hoped for the remoulade to have a bit more flavor. The calamari was good but I wanted a little more for the $9. Its a solid place and Ill be back for sure to try the burger simply because the fries looked amazing. All and all I wasn't super impressed with my catfish but from reading the reviews theres a few other things I want to try that will bring me back. read more

This is the place that finally turned me on to fried catfish. I've had the dish plenty of times at other places, but have never been a fan. If this is what fried catfish is supposed to be, then I finally get it. Wisteria is an unpretentious restaurant that I feel is frequented by locals. It's kind of in the middle of nowhere - a residential area and kind of by the Jimmy Carter Presidential library - and yet when I went on a Friday night the place was still packed at 9pm, so people had to come there just to be there. The place is smaller than I expected and the lighting was dim, but everything on the menu was excellent. Very fine dining with good service. My only complaint is that because the space is so limited, it can get super loud in here. I could barely hear my waitress or my dinner companion. I have been to Wisteria a couple of times now and I absolutely adore it. I went there for a dinner with my parents, who were in town for the weekend, and my dad's best friend and his wife. My parents and I showed up early (we had made a reservation) and they sat us without the rest of the party, which was good because there isn't really an area to stand around and it was cold out this weekend. When it came time to order, our waiter knew all about the wine menu, so he was able to help us pick out a bottle of red wine. My mom is on a specific diet and wanted to know if she could change out the sweet potato soufflé that came with her dish for one of the veggie side options, which the waiter told her was not a problem. When the food came, it was amazing! We started with caesar salad, which had a nice tang to it and was very enjoyable. I had the scallops and LOVED them. The dish was also very nicely portioned. I would have to say the dish of the evening was the fried chicken. The waiter told us people go there just for that dish and I get it (my dad actually said it was "to die for"). Also, it is totally big enough to share between two people with a salad or an appetizer to start. The desserts are not to be skipped. I love love love bread pudding. I mean, it is probably my favorite dessert of all time. The way they do desserts is that each one is basically a single serving size, probably around the size of a scoop of ice cream. You can just get one to share, or you can get more than one and mix and match between the different dessert option. Truly great! I have lived in Atlanta for about 3 years now and this is one of the best meals that I have ever had. The company was great, of course, but the atmosphere of the restaurant is calm and enjoyable. Husband and I came here during the Inman Park Restaurant Week, and we will definitely be coming back! We had thought about making a reservation, but we assumed we'd be okay since we were getting there at 6 PM on a Friday, but you know what they say about assuming. Luckily, there were bar spots open so we popped a squat there and had dinner with the super friendly bartenders. The Deviled Eggs and the Sweet Potato Chips + Black Bean Hummus were a good way to start the night off. I've never been that big of a fan of sweet potatoes or hummus, but who knew that this great combo could be so beautifully blended! For dinner there was the Georgia Mountain Trout and the Fried Chicken. Absolutely amazing. Nothing was overpowering and everything was balanced well so you didn't feel like you needed to be rolled out the door when you were done. With that said though, dessert soon followed and we were stuffed. The dessert sampler trio was, just like everything else, fantastic. Service was excellent, bar was excellent, food was excellent, etc. etc. NOTE: It is a bit loud and it is a little dark inside, so be prepared, but it's not bad. read more

Ok so some of my closest and sweetest friends pulled together to try and pull off a surprise birthday dinner for me....well of -course I arrived earlier than I was supposed to and saw them all parking...too funny - another surprise foiled.. But - what a great meal and a wonderful evening. The ambience in this place is lovely, and it has a very cozy feel. So appetizers here...you gotta try the Blackeyed Pea Hummus, Pimento Cheese Deviled eggs - oh yeah very delicious. I also really enjoyed the Charleston Style Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes - which for me is a big deal..I don't really care for too much Seafood. My dinner entree - Pork three ways braised Pork - absolutely delicious (if you like pork) braised pork cheeks...WOW!! Kale and Field Peas...seasoned perfectly...was most def worth the calories. High Marks went to the Almond Crusted Georgia Mountain Trout, and the Roasted Lamb and Grilled Salmon....now my sweet friend Carmen is absolutely crazy about the Pan Seared North Atlantic Skate Wing.....this is her favorite restaurant in all of Atlanta...and she's a lady of very high standards and excellent taste I can absolutely wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant for any occasion...the menu consist of a lot of locally grown food items and it changes sometimes...so please plan a trip to this place... Made reservations for Saturday night (if you're planning on going, it might be best to reserve 2 weeks ahead of time if you want a specific time slot). It's Inman Park Restaurant Week so we had our choice of $25 and $35 3 course meals. For the first two courses I went with: Black-eyed pea hummus - This was a scoop of hummus with some sweet potato chips on the side, very delicious and the chips weren't too greasy so that was a plus. However this was overshadowed by the boyfriend's pork belly which may be the most delicious thing I have ever eaten (with the exception of my entree, later) Molasses rubbed pork tenderloin - When they say tenderloin, they definitely mean tender. The crisp outside meshes so very well with the perfectly chewy but tender inside with the diced apples and sweet potatoes finishing off each bite perfectly. The boyfriend picked: Pan-Seared Pork Belly - Oh my gosh, this dish is an example of sweet and savory done completely right. The poached pear on its own was sweet and crunchy as well as the candied walnuts. Pan Seared Icelandic Cod - The cod was tender and not terribly fishy with a light breading on top. The risotto was well done and paired well with the cod and Sherry reduction. The kale was crispy and fresh. Dessert Sampler - They had a chocolate brownie topped with Mexican chocolate ice cream which is pretty much cayenne pepper mixed into chocolate ice cream - warning the pepper will kick in as an after taste so if you're not into spicy things, you might want to avoid this. The other desserts (lemon bar and carrot cake) were SO GOOD. Yum. Roots and Bloom - This was the cocktail recommended to me by our waiter and he was completely right about how appropriate it was for the nice breezy day it was outside. This is a very light and refreshing drink (reminiscent of a mint julep) that I thoroughly enjoyed. Service - Lovely, I had no complaints. Decided to do carryout because of how this restaurant practiced zero social distancing whatsoever. 1 foot in-between people is just intolerable. I know you've been out of business and are trying to make up for lost time but customers safety comes first. A year ago, when I ordered a pork tenderloin, I got a pork tenderloin... Seems simple right? This time, I received 4 bites of pork tenderloin, a half of one if I'm being optimistic. The only good thing was the calamari, and that was good not great. For $65, I expect as was the case before for this to be an excellent meal. Now I've wasted $80 on food that couldn't even feed one person and am left completely underwhelmed. Wisteria is so tasty! It's a gorgeous little restaurant, and the food is impeccably cooked. Our server was so helpful, too. The entrees we chose included the skatefish, ahi tuna, and three meat ragout. The skatefish was cooked perfectly and tasted buttery over grits and asparagus. The ahi was seared just right and served with broccollini and wasabi dumplings. The ragout was suprising - a combination of beef, pork and veal in a rich stew of pasta, tomatoes, and vegetables. However, when I arrived at the door my whole frame of mind change due to the mood, art, and lightening of the Wisteria. All of these characteristics literally put me at ease and after all the doubt departed it was time for what is most crucial in my life GooD FooD. Wisteria managed to botch my birthday dinner in every way possible except the food. We made reservations for my birthday dinner. The day of our reservation we received a call to confirm it was a birthday dinner. The caller was friendly and thanked us for choosing Wisteria to celebrate the occasion We arrived 10 mins early for our reservation at 8pm. We were told by the host that since we we a few minutes early that we could wait at the bar with no indication that it would be a long wait. There were a lot of people waiting around the bar area. We somehow managed to find seats at the bar but we were ignored by the bartenders for 10 minutes despite the bars intimate size. Others had started getting bread baskets at the bar. Bad sign. Finally, the female bartender asked if we'd like anything or would like to see a menu. We declined because at this point it was 8:05 and we assumed our table would be ready soon as we were still not given any other indication. 8:15 rolls around and we had to flag down the male bartender for some waters to sip on. My boyfriend got antsy and ordered an old fashioned to pass the time. That was the fastest I've ever seen anyone make an old fashioned. Believe me, he should have taken more time. I understand some people muddle the fruit in this classic drink, but this was too much. I do not enjoy orange pulp in my bourbon drinks. There was little to no sugar/simple syrup. Then the check, $15. Wow. Just wow. I've had better drinks at a chili's (that's an exaggeration. I don't eat at chili's). We drank our drinks at the bar. I got bored so I decided to consult yelp. Apparently this is par for the course for this place. There were a lot of reservation spots open when we booked ours on open table. It's clear that they continuously over book their restaurant. The owner even came out to speak to a lot of the people that were waiting in the bar area. However he did not acknowledge us, but went to other people who hadn't been there as long as we had. Around 8:30, one of the staff members came by to confirm our last name, to thank us for our patience, and to let us know our table would be ready soon. As in, not ready yet, but soon. We had been inside this restaurant for 40 minutes at this point. Soon was not acceptable. We watched as they cleared our table. They places this brown paper on top of the nice white table cloths. I get that it makes for easier clean up, but it made me feel like I was in a dive-y bbq joint. Also, I watched as the poor waiter had to fold the square piece of paper into a circle shape to fit our table. By the end it looked frumpy and uneven. But we were ravenous, so we let it slide and sat down the second they let us know we could sit down. FINALLY. Our waiter was friendly but not overly attentive. Offered to get us some bread after taking our drink orders. I got the roots and blooms. My boyfriend got the brown derby. The derby was the better of the two. We ordered the black eye pea hummus with pickled veggies and sweet potato chips. It arrive around 9:15. It only slightly made us a little happier to still be there over an hour after our original reservation time. We ordered the lamb shank and beef tenderloin. Someone besides our waiter dropped off our food. We had to wait for steak knives. That was poor service in my opinion. Both dishes were good, not the best food we've ever had. The tenderloin was cooked well, but it would have been nice if it came with a more vegetable-heave side instead of Mac n cheese (yes I know there are greens in the Mac, just not a lot). Our waiter boxed up our leftovers and brought us dessert menus. We decided to split the bread pudding. I had seen other desserts come out with little candles for people's birthdays while we waited. I had also seen some like this online. Ours did not come out in any special way. It was just kind of plopped on the table. It was good, but it's disappointing when you see the restaurant do something special for some birthdays and not others. Why did they bother confirming it was for a birthday over the phone? Oh well, the bread pudding was at least tasty. By the time all was said and done and check paid for (I found it ridiculous they didn't offer us anything in exchange for that ridiculous start of the evening) we left the restaurant at 10:05pm. We did not sit and enjoy conversation after the meal or anything. It literally took that long to wait, eat, pay, and get out of there. We were supposed to attend a party that evening after dinner. That did not happen due to how long this took. The food at Wisteria is good. But good food doesn't make up for not knowing how to manage the house. The food scene in Atlanta is growing and we could have gone to 10 restaurants within a 5 mile radius that would have had food just as good. Overall, I felt almost disrespected. I visited Wisteria during Inman Park Restaurant Week 2017. I will always have fond memories of my experience here. Wisteria has complimentary valet parking which is very convenient for this part of town with limited parking options. Wisteria is a intimate restaurant with a comfortable, relaxed feel. Our waitress was very down to Earth & asking questions was comfortable. She introduced their $30 menu & told us some information about Wisteria. She also helped pair a $40 Spanish white wine with our meal which we thoroughly enjoyed. For our appetizers we chose the Farmstead Soup which is made up of autumn vegetables, lentils, kale, saffron tomato broth. Along with a crust of sourdough & feta (Capra Gia, Roswell, GA). We both chose the soup as it seemed to be the best choice on the menu. I'm glad I did because the entrée was much larger than I expected. Our entrées were the Braised Pork Cheeks (all natural, Heritage Farms, NC) with sweet potato dumplings, sorghum glazed root vegetables, apples, fried cornbread & pot liquor. My boyfriend liked it bc the cheek meat becomes very tender after braising & he tasted an Asian flavor in it which was familiar. Also, we had the All Natural Iron Skillet Fried Half Chicken with Bacon Braised Collard Greens with sweet corn pudding & mushroom-herb broth. The fried chicken was the winner of the two, I mean, what southerner doesn't like fried chicken?! My boyfriend was absolutely fascinated by the fact that they were able to remove all the chicken bones in the fried chicken except for the wing. He's been recommending this restaurant to his friends planning to visit Atlanta ever since we visited in the spring. Dessert was divided into three separate containers. One, the traditional lemon bar, two, the white chocolate strawberry shortcake, & three, the flourless pecan brownie. These were not the most spectacular dessert, but the main dishes definitely made up for it. Let's be honest, the wine was the real dessert. Like I mentioned before the restaurant is very intimate, which means small. I had difficulty not looking a the diners next to me because we were so close we could have bumped elbows. Took my girlfriend to Wisteria over Inman Park Restaurant week. Had an 8:15 reservation and it was PACKED! We got there a little early, but managed to get seated right at 8:15. We were even offered the option to choose between two tables, which we thought was thoughtful. Anywho, we tried the pimento deviled eggs, which were delicious. The only complaint is that we wanted more! We also shared the black eyed pea hummus with sweet potato chips. I'm a huge fan of hummus and I almost religiously try it everywhere I go. This made my top 5 without a doubt. My enter was a fried cod, lightly breaded and delicious. The veggies and sauce were amazing, and the mini shrimps swimming in the sauce made it even better. To finish off, we had a desert trio of different types of bars - lemon, coffee, and the tried and true brownie with ice cream on top. Ambience was really nice, great for a couples date. It can get a little loud in there, especially if it's on a busy night, so try to get there before 7 or after 8 if you want a quieter meal. They do have plenty of two-tops which helps provide good availability for your special date night. Valet was quick and kind even before our dinner experience started. Wisteria is pretty fantastic. This is a place I highly recommend. Parking... There is valet parking in a lot next to the restaurant. Ambience... It's lovely. Soft lighting and rich woods. The white linen table clothes and candles kick up the romance factor. Food... Wow! I had a Caesar salad and the Skate Wing entree. It was one of the better Caesar's I've had. The croutons are house made and the capers added a ton of flavor. I've never heard of Skate Wing fish. It is a delicious white and light fish. It was cooked perfectly on a bed of grits and asparagus. Capers were in this dish too. Service... Impeccable. My server was polite without being too much in my face. She recommended a few popular dishes and was super helpful. Drinks... To celebrate my delightful wife's birthday family and friends piled into a limo and headed to Wisteria in Little Five Points. The place is sandwiched between other businesses on North Highland Ave. in older buildings on a narrow but busy street. The interior is warmly decorated with a bar wrapped by dining tables. It is spacious with a high ceiling which reduces noise at table level. The wait staff are knowledgeable and attentive. They have a great selection of wine which we generously partook. We had a couple of appetizers, fried oysters and an exotic bean dip, which were tasty and vanished quickly. An interesting menu item is the "skate". I did not order it (but was tempted) instead opting for an entree of the fried oysters. These were some of the most flavorful fried oysters I've ever had. Crispy crust outside and tender inside with a mild oyster flavor. Others in our party had burgers, salmon and salads. The food was fabulous tasting and was filling. Servings were meal-sized so there weren't any doggie bags to take home. I highly suggest reservations as this place is very popular. Bon appetite! read more

Always looking for somewhere new to try whenever I'm home and Wisteria just so happened to be the spot. We were celebrating a birthday and decided to go here. It's definitely different that all the other places I've been to so far here in Atlanta. Here's why I decided to give Wisteria five stars: We had a dinner reservation at 8:30 PM for a party of 3. Once we arrived we were seated promptly. The space is small and was not overly crowded. The decor and ambience were fabulous. Very nice wall paintings and lighting was lovely. Our server was excellent. She was knowledgeable about the menu and explained everything so well. We ordered drinks and they were out in no time. For starters we had the deviled eggs and the gouda stuffed arancini and both were delicious. For our main course we had the lamb shank, the trout and the vegetable platter. Everything was delicious. The service was flawless. Our glasses were always full. We were then surprised with a complimentary desert item which I was not too fond of. Overall, this spot is perfect for date night, GNO, etc. I highly recommend this classy restaurant. The service here is excellent. read more

Visited for a family birthday party and was pleasantly surprised. We had a reservation for 5:30 and arrived at 5:20 to discover the door was locked. No biggie, the sign outside noted that they didn't open until 5:30 and the area is definitely a safe side of town so we waited on a bench right outside. They open approximately two minutes before 5:30, and the host and servers greeted us as soon as we walked in. The ambiance is nice, really lowkey and relaxed lighting. The artwork on the walls are nice to look at as well. There were very few other patrons while we were there, I think maybe two other parties for most of our meal. We did notice that a server tried to seat a family at the table right next to us, despite at least two dozen open tables. Fortunately, the family asked for more room and to sit elsewhere. The reason I mention this, is that the tables are packed in tightly, so much so that it's almost family dining. I think we would would've been very uncomfortable if the restaurant was packed, as the tables next to you are less than arm's reach away. Our server had difficulty squeezing between the tables to sit down plates and refill glasses. Speaking of which, our server seemed...sad? Maybe she was having an off day, but she definitely seemed...Eeyore-ish. Wasn't mean or anything, just stood near the table while we ate and slouched, stood near the window a few times and looked out aimlessly. The food was very good, southern with a twist. Crab bisque, fried chicken, catfish, trout were great. The greens were a huge table favorite. Extensive alcohol selections. Everyone enjoyed their meals as well as the nice birthday surprise. We always sit at the bar so I cannot comment on any ones service except Andrews he is very attentive and makes great wine suggestion. I always order the meatballs and gnocchi it is amazing. Cooked to perfection. My friend had the fried chicken as did the people beside us, both thought it was as good as Mary Mac's (that must be a southern thing). We went there for our 4-year anniversary to celebrate and we had a good time! The restaurant was a little close quarters because of all the customers but then again, so are most of the restaurants on N Highland Ave. The only reason this bothered us is because this lady next to us could not seem to keep her eyes to herself and kept eye-balling us the entire time for whatever reason, which made it hard to have a "private conversation" with my girlfriend. You can park on the street or valet park in the private lot. The service was excellent. Our server was extremely educated on the menu and made great suggestions. It was restaurant week, so we received an appetizer, 2 entrees, and a dessert. The grilled tenderloin was good and we wanted to try something new, so we had beef carpaccio, which was interesting, but not my favorite. The dessert was 4 little cakes with ice cream on top. One of them was a spicy pumpkin flavor and very interesting. The ambience is dark and most everyone was in, at the least, business casual attire. Overall, we had a great time and the service was great, but for the price and food that didn't blow us away, we probably won't be making another visit. The Southern platters here are so good. I think this is now one of my favorite nicer Southern restaurants in Atlanta, mostly due to the fried chicken and corn casserole / cornbread. 1/2 FRIED CHICKEN, COLLARED GREENS, and CORN CASSEROLE I love this dish. I was hesitant on getting it since they have quite a bit of fish on the menu, and I was dying to try that out too, but we're in a pretty Southern restaurant and literally everyone around me had the fried chicken dish...so i had to go with it as well. I couldn't finish the dish in one sitting but I'm glad I didn't because I almost feel like next day's leftovers at work were even better than the night before. WINE We had a really good bottle of French bourjoulais that I will now look for in stores. read more

We came as a group of 8 on Thursday evening, we had a reservation so they had a big table ready for us. The restaurant is dark and has a romantic date night vibe, although I would not describe it as a particularly nice place. The server was friendly but seemed a bit impatient, rushing us a bit. We started with some drinks, everyone seemed happy with their cocktails and wine. I had the Moscow mule, which was tasty. They also brought out some rolls after ordering food, they were good. My fiancé had the Salisbury steak lamb, it was tasty and served on top of a bit of mashed potatoes. The seasoning was a little strong, but overall a good dish. I had the veal and beef meatballs, which included gnocchi and 5-6 large meatballs, which was very good. Both the dishes were good. When they brought out of the dishes for our table, they had our orders incorrectly, not a big deal, but distracted from the overall dining experience. Overall, we left satisfied with the meals. I think there are a lot of similar restaurants in Atlanta, the fancy southern style. Wisteria is nothing special and for the price, I think there are better options. read more

What a delightful evening for dinner! We tried Wisteria tonight for a family meet and greet and we were not disappointed! We started off with the quail and biscuits on a bed spread of apple butter along with the sweet potato hush puppies (my personal favorite). Then for main courses, we had the fried chicken with collard greens and corn cakes, fried catfish and the lamb. My chicken was good along with the lamb and my mom really enjoyed her catfish with a side of corn bread. My favorite course, dessert, we sampled the banana pudding, bourbon bread pudding and fried apple pie. All were quite flavorful and the banana pudding had real banana and vanilla wafers! Overall, I give an all 5 rating for the great service, delicious food and pleasant atmosphere! read more

First, very glad to see that Wisteria is open again! Second, I never post comments, so this is really out of character. Third, we are both over 70, and so only use take-out, which typically compromises any dinner. But last night, our take-out from Wisteria was probably the best dinner we've had in these last 9 months! It was the real deal, and coming on the first day of this New Year will hopefully prove to be a positive omen for all that follows! That the chef was able to accommodate my wife's request for a vegetable substitute for grits (not a fan), sealed the deal. Can't wait to return! Thank you! read more

This is a great find in Atlanta! Great restaurant! Great food, good wine selection and amazing service! I was really impressed with the quality and preparation of the food. It's in a great area, and a little hard to find, but definitely worth the effort. I went on a week day, and there was no wait, so you may need to make a reservation on the busier days. read more

Despite nervously eating dinner with my fiance's parents and other family members several months ago, I could still appreciate the thoughtful and delicious meal I indulged in at Wisteria. And I'm occasionally finding myself trying to figure out when I can return next. My take: ***** I. FOOD & DRINK It's American Southern fine dining, so they take a lot of traditional eats and elevate them. With a group of six, I had the chance to taste several types of eats. *Oysters: I don't remember what type, exactly, but I think we had ones from the Washington area. They were briny, small, and plenty delicious. I'm sure the types of oysters they carry depend on the season and market price, so ask your server. *Black-Eyed Pea Hummus w/ homemade sweet potato chips, olives, and tomatoes: Pretty good, but I would take the opportunity to try something else next time. *Cornmeal Fried Calamari w/ sweet and sour apricot sauce and wasabi crème fraiche: Nice take on calamari. I would definitely get this again, if I had to pick only one these appetizers. **Iron Skillet Fried All-Natural Half Chicken w/ bacon braised collard greens, sweet corn pudding, mushroom-herb broth: Eating this dish was the high point for my meal. Plenty tender meat, incredibly crispy skin, complimented by other savory noms, I wanted to lick my plate, but my fiance took the other half of meal. She didn't like her... **Pan Seared North Atlantic Skaate Wing w/ stone ground grits, roasted asparagus, lemon brown butter: I got to eat half of this dish, since my lady took mine. And unlike what other folks have said, I thought it was solid, but I wouldn't order it again. I would rather order the chicken any day of the week. That's just my preference. My fiance's, too. I did have dessert, but got pretty drunk by then (because I was hella nervous). Everything, from what I vaguely remember, was tasty. I think there were three kinds and one had pineapple. Lol. II. SERVICE Despite making reservations, we did wait about twenty minutes. There's a small bar that we awkwardly sat by. Wisteria is considerate, though, because they provided several complimentary drinks for making us wait. That was nice. Regarding the service itself, I thought the food came out at a reasonable time. Our server also checked on us without being smothering. III. AMBIENCE/ DÉCOR It's intimate. Like, I would have the lights down this low, if I were to play a scary movie with my boo. (Hence no pics of the food, unlike my other reviews.) It's also very clean, without feeling stale. Peep the art on the walls, too. Very unique pieces that I think anyone can buy. IV. PRICES The entrees are what really damage your wallet, but I they're proportional with their sizes. (The servings are really for two per entrée and fall somewhere between $20-$35 each.) The appetizers are under $15. V. OVERALL Would I return? Absolutely. I had a wonderful time at Wisteria, and thankfully my boo-thang's parents did, too. read more

I went to Wisteria after reading all the favorable reviews. It was one of the few instances in which I thought to myself at the conclusion of the meal: "Yelpers have led me astray, yo." The atmosphere was lovely. The service was professional, considerate, and friendly. We talked extensively with our server regarding their best plates, what they are known for making especially well, etc. We examined the specials. We excitedly ordered a medley of appetizers and entrees, to give ourselves ample opportunity to experience various flavors and textures. We had a beautiful time. Until the food arrived. It was very disappointing. It wasn't wretched or the worst thing I've ever had. It simply didn't live up to the hype. The focus was on presentation rather than substance. Sexy garnishes and little cool shapes protruding from my food don't make it taste any better. I have definitely had much more satisfying and palette-pleasing meals for a lot less. I meant to write this a few days ago, well last week actually but just never got around to it. First, I have to say I've had better at this restaurant especially in regards to service from the staff. Let me break it down... We arrive around 8:25 for an 8:45P reservation, party of 7. We end up being seated sometime past 9:30P. Problem #1. I order a drink for my partner and I -- no space at the bar, so after putting my order in I went around to where there was standing room, but still in the general bar area. I asked the bartender to close my tab after those two drinks and run my card...which he does...but then proceeds to put the slip and my card down where I was standing, even though I had shifted slightly to the left...which meant I had to walk over, get it, sign it and give it back to him. Just a little ridiculous in my book...maybe I have unreasonable standards of service. This is what I viewed as Problem #2. After the rest of our party arrived and ordered drinks -- the bartender proceeds to make them and versus handing them to us or serving us, he just sets them down, walks away, and never indicates those were our drinks. Odd. The bar wasn't even that busy...so by the time they tried to serve the drinks they were ridiculously watered down. This is Problem #3. Positives from the evening -- our waitress and what I assume was either a floor manager or supervisor of the evening comped us several appetizers and a drink or two because of the earlier experiences. The food was pretty good -- although I do miss the burger with foie gras mayonnaise, which used to be a staple menu item. Perhaps Wisteria just had a bad night that evening and I'm willing to not break up with them just yet, but it will be a hot minute before I head back over there. If I wanted to be treated like crap I'd just go to Parish. Kidding...sort of. read more

After years of hearing good things about Wisteria, I decided Inman Park Restaurant Week was the perfect opportunity to try it out. Fortunately for me, Rachel P felt the same way and was willing to take care of the reservations. Unfortunately, we picked a night when a large group of conventioneers (known by their oversized lanyard nametags hanging around their necks) were taking up the majority of the restaurant. So our 8:45 reservation meant that we weren't seated until 9:15. Good thing for us it was restaurant week because we'd already looked at the menus online and picked what we wanted. There was a set dessert, so I couldn't substitute it for an appetizer, so I opted to order a la carte instead of getting the restaurant week deal. Loving pimento cheese, deviled eggs, and pickled okra, I opted for the pimento cheese deviled eggs for my appetizer. For the main, I broke the table's trend and got the fried catfish instead of the fried chicken. The serving of 5 egg halves was generous, and the eggs were tasty. I'm not a hard-boiled yolk fan, so I would have preferred the filling to be even more of the cheese. The pickled okra was crisp with a sweet and spicy barbecue tang. Since I prefer my pickles to be of the dill variety, I wasn't a fan, but I could see that they were well-executed. The highlight of the dish was the roasted pecans, which nicely complemented all the other flavors. The catfish was delicious! I had planned on only eating half, but by the time it showed up at 9:45, I was too hungry to set any aside. The texture and degree of cooking was perfect - light and flaky, still moist, and not at all greasy! The mixture of stewed okra and tomatoes with green tomatoes underneath was a little more firm than I prefer, but the flavor was delicious. The horseradish sauce got one bite from me, but I opted for the pure flavor of the fried fish. Service was as to be expected during restaurant week at a place of this size and reputation. One hostess was quite friendly - always smiling and checking in. The other didn't remember that we'd checked in, and didn't seem to care whether or not we were ever seated. The waitress seemed overwhelmed. She reminded us MANY times that there was NO sharing. I bring this up only because if she'd listened to our orders instead of saying this again and again, she would have realized that we were all ordering appetizers, and 3 of 4 of us got the fried chicken, and the two of us who didn't order dessert weren't eating sweets, so we didn't even want to share. She showed that she was quite flustered by the hustle and bustle rather than letting the ease of our orders give her a break. I look forward to going back to Wisteria, hopefully at a less popular time! read more
