The Xaman horchata was a beautiful combination of floral notes with the bitter tones of the espresso. I've been here before for coffee only, but today I came to brunch! The ambience of this place is great and cozy, perfect for an intimate meal with friends, family or a date. Such a unique presentation, with the food and drinks. Mugs had faces, and were pleasantly heavy. Café de olla came in a gourd and so did the salsas we ordered, which were excellent (a red salsa matcha, and a green surprisingly spicy one). Everyone enjoyed their dishes- we got a variety of meals: molletes, croissant with egg and chorizo, and chilaquiles with mole. I've been wanting to try this place for a little over a year, I was really excited. Today we had the bad luck of arriving with high expectations. I say bad luck because the food is "good" but too expensive for the portions, but that's not the problem, the problem was that when the bill came, I was surprised that they charged me $60 for two paninis and a matcha. But here's what will really make me not return to this place. I really like the area and I've been visiting all the restaurants for over 6 years. I asked for the receipt to see what I had been charged. On the menu (which you can see the photos of) the panini comes with a soup, the vuwl doesn't specify what the options are, I assumed it was from the option on the menu that says soups, I ordered the tarasca soup with my panini and the pozole with the other. As a Mexican, I asked for some hot sauce, they brought me two, again without knowing that they would charge me for them too, because after paying and seeing the receipt, it caught my attention that they charged me 16 dollars for two sauces and a soup, which was supposed to be included with the panini. I went back and asked to speak to the manager and explained what I already wrote here, her response was: Tarasca soup is not included with the panini and I asked what you should specify when you are ordering, I don't expect her to give me my money back. Or maybe it is, but her response was: But did you eat the soup? I answered: Yes, but it is included with the panini. And she said: No. You have to pay for it! So where is the soup with a panini that only has a piece of chicken and no vegetables! Literally bread and chicken! The price is not the problem. The problem is the way of answering! I know they don't lose anything with just one customer, but the truth is, they do. Terrible way to solve problems! read more

Pros: The food and service were 10/10. Only reason it wasn't five stars was due to the area for outside dining was small. When we arrived there was a family of 5 eating outside utilizing 3/4 tables. The tables were a round size maybe a two feet wide. The hostess asked if we would like to wait or not since we weren't allowed inside since we had two small pets. We really wanted to try the establishment so we waited. While waiting the family that was outside gave us one of their tables they weren't using and we had two tables now. They eventually left so we decided to use three tables just as they were using. Well! The hostess comes out and says we can't be shifting around and moving tables and we need to only use the two we had while the family before us was using three. ??? Ok so why were they allowed to use three and we had to wait for them to leave and now we aren't allow to use three tables!??? We told her that this rule wasn't in place with the previous guest and we had a small back and forth until she said fine and went back inside. The whole situation was weird and I wish it didn't happen because it gave me such a confused vibe for the remainder of the meal. I couldn't enjoy myself and the atmosphere of the restaurant as I couldn't stop wondering what just happened. I honestly wanted to do less stars because of it but the food and service from our waitress were so great I couldn't. Thank you to my server you were great. Look at these little mugs This pre-Hispanic influenced cafe & agave bar takes you on a time travel back to the earlier and simpler times in Central Mexico . I fell in love with their aesthetics the moment I walked into the cafe and all the staff are super friendly. Their menu offers some very authentic Mexican brunch dishes but we swung by during a weekday afternoon so for us it was coffee only . I LOVE the presentation of my latte, and the barista made me one of the most beautiful latte swans I've ever got . We also ordered "Xaman Horchata", which I HIGHLY recommend!
