When you want yang chow but don't want the full sit down experience yang chow 2.0 it is. Love the Pasadena location and was in the area so decided to try and see how the quick service compared. It did not disappoint everything tasted exactly as the dine in location. Just conveniently packed for leftovers. Flavor and textures were the same. You order at register. Have the option to take out or sit at the few tables inside available. They have some outdoor seating but depends on the weather. The person who took our order was friendly and food came out quick.

Okay okay ! I'm from Lincoln heights neighbor to Chinatown so I'm very familiar with yang chow & their slippery shrimp ! Been wanting to stop by this 2.0 spot for a while now & finally have ! Located in a small plaza along with other restaurants, parking available when I got it but it was pretty packed ! Service was friendly , definitely a take out spot nothing like the Chinatown one which is a restaurant restaurant... lol. Anyways I have to say it's not the same slippery shrimp but it was good & I enjoyed it . The bowl was a nice size for the price . Will definitely be back to try the other items !

I saw a post on TikTok and decided to order Yang Chow fried rice., I like that it had chicken, beef and shrimp., the rice was good but , it wasn't fried. It was similar to a moist rice pilaf. The chicken and beef was tender. There was an abundance of diced chicken and beef but, about 5 smedium shrimp., I'm use to having fried rice brown when served.. The flavor was bland. I really wanted to like it. Service was fast. The restaurant was clean. No other customers were there.

Been here twice, the most recent was last week on the Thursday that Southern California was hailed on. The first volley happened as I made my order here at Yang Chow 2.0 No table service. Walk in, order at the counter and find a seat. Indoor and outdoor available. I noticed more take out orders than dine in while there. Placed my order (Slippery Shrimp Bowl and an Oolong Iced Tea). See pics. The other pics were from my first visit back a few years ago I don't remember much about my first experience however, this time around, it was served fresh and hot. Burned the roof of my mouth on my first bite. Wondered if the shrimp being cooked so hot whether it would be either dry or undercooked - but it was neither. Cooked well, not dry and as you can see from the pics, a nice amount of shrimp. I liked that it wasn't too sweet and the rice wasn't old and dry I can't speak much to customer service as there wasn't much of an exchange with the staff. I ordered, ate and left. Parking wasn't a hassle either. It's a plaza and I pulled right in. Drive around back or there's street parking over by the adjacent residential area too. Will be back again as it's close to work, quick and inexpensive.

We've been to the original Yang Chow in Chinatown, and really enjoyed their slippery shrimp. This location has a lot smaller menu, but has their most popular dishes so decided to make a visit out to this location near the airport. 2.0 is located in a small strip mall, and has limited parking (got lucky and found a spot on the side)....if any of the tenants got super popular, the parking wouldn't be sufficient. We wanted to dine in, so ordered and paid first at the counter. We sat outside, and in short order, were given glasses of water which was nice. The food came out together soon after, all in carry-out dishes along with paper plates/plastic utensils. We ordered the a la carte version, none of which comes with rice. The slippery shrimp was just battered shrimp, wok fried and covered in a tangy sauce and there was a lot of it. The size of the shrimp was medium (not large), and because it was freshly made, some pieces were very crispy. That being said, some pieces were not (and everything started to get soggy as it sat there), and my daughter noticed that it hadn't been prepared the way she was used to (there was still graininess in the cooked batter, which is obviously a big turnoff). It isn't the same as what is in the original restaurant (where one can't believe how fried shrimp can get and stay so crispy)...here, the batter turned soggy after a few minutes. That being said, the sweet/sour/hot sauce that covered the dish was tasty and not too full of corn starch. And plenty of shrimp was given. The Szechuan beef consisted of VERY crispy beef strips, cooked in an orange sauce with broccoli on the side. The beef was very, very cooked...some of the pieces had transformed from a jerky-like consistency to what overcooked bacon feels like (it just crumbles). I do like this type of beef (vs the mushy strips of cheap beef that often comes in a chinese beef dish), my dining companions not so much. We also got an order of Shrimp fried rice, and the shrimp size was the same as what was used in the slippery shrimp. The rice was fine, but we are used to having the fried rice overflowing from the rice take-out container. Here, it was given in an entree container and just hit the minimum level ...rice is cheap...it is just good practice to give the impression that you are getting more than what you paid for, with dishes that have cheap ingredients. We did get an order of extra white rice (very inexpensive at $1.00), but the rice was old. We also tried their egg rolls...it was crispy and freshly fried with the inside being loose, very similar to what you would get at Panda Express. The entire meal came out to $52 for the 3 of us. In summary, considering that it is called Yang Chow, we were disappointed. The price would be fine for dine-in, but this place is really meant for a lunch gathering or take-out, and in that case, the price is a bit too high (and the food too hit/mit) to make it a regular spot.

So, I host paint nights at Steady Brewing (on the other side of the parking lot) and grabbed dinner before my first event there. I'm half Chinese and really funny about my Chinese food. I don't live in the area, but since my first try, I've been here at least 4 more times (even on days I don't have a class). The pan fried noodles are some of the best I've had. The flavor is AMAZING. Service has always been solid and quick. I must've been incredibly hungry because tonight is the first time I was able to inhale the entire serving in one sitting Lol

Freshly prepared food. Ordered the slippery shrimp and house special pan fried noodles. The shrimp has the right balance of flavors with the heat lingering in your mouth. I prefer the salt and pepper shrimp from Hokkaido and they're cheaper there. With the noodles, there's nothing special about it. The only vegetable they included was cabbage. There's no onions carrots nor snap peas. It wasn't special at all.

The original Yang Chow actually has seating for more than 10 people. I gathered my coworkers and prepped them for spectacular Chinese food, which they will never taste because there was no room to sit. Sad. read more

Yang Chow 2.0 has finally opened in Long Beach, with a simple, straightforward menu that focuses on their most popular and signature dishes. If you live/work around the LBC or find yourselves near the LGB airport often, then you probably are just as excited as I am about this most welcome addition to the area. For individuals, ordering a bowl (item plus rice) might be most convenient ($11-$13 and 12 oz.) but if you're looking for more volume or to share dishes ordering a la carte gets you the most bang for your buck! 28 oz. of slippery shrimp please! Plus your choice of either white or brown rice to order separately. Located in a small parking lot plaza (plus street parking) and with limited seating inside and on the outside patio, this place is the smaller, more casual version of the original location in DTLA Chinatown and sit down restaurant in Pasadena. You walk in, order at the cash register and either sit down and find a table to dine-in or just get takeout. I asked and they mentioned they do at times take telephone orders but then as it gets busy they might suspend taking phone orders. Maybe after they get the hang of things, food delivery like Post Mates or Uber Eats perhaps? There is a brewery next door and Baja Sonora is also in the same plaza. I ordered slippery shrimp which came with broccoli, beef fried rice, spring roll, and oolong tea all of which I enjoyed. Best eaten fresh of course. For a newly opened restaurant, I didn't have to wait too long as I arrived on a Saturday 3/8 as they opened and so far so good! The flavors aren't entirely there yet (fried rice was on the oily side, food slightly under seasoned) but as time goes by I expect they'll continue to improve. The food here is fresh, well made, and very tasty. We ordered the pork chop and beef with broccoli (not the bowl). Both were really good. The only negative is the price. For those two plus order of rice its came out to $37 (includes tax) and served on paper plates. The average price per entree we ordered was about $16 and it doesn't include rice. I must say for that price, Sam Woo and Tasty in Cerritos will give you much better value and eating experience. Staff was very friendly and nice. read more

Service is GREAT! The cashier goes out of his way to make you feel welcomed and apologized for the wait. Food is good, not knocking that. But - at the price point, it is pretty expensive for what you get. I don't know if I'll be back to battle the lines and the parking. But I do wish them luck as they were very nice. read more

It seemed that the person taking orders was very agitated by the presence of me (African-American and my Philippino friend) coming there to dine. The young women was very rude. She got the order all wrong and was very cold. She gave us the wrong order did not care about correcting it. I asked for green tea,and szeschuan chicken , instead She brings out broccoli beef and an open cup of water??? She total disrespected my order!! Just visited this place on a friends recommendation. NEVER AGAIN! The spring rolls were greasy, and the portions were tiny. Even their fried rice was not fried rice it was white rice with veggies. Lesson learned ( uggggggggg) The worst $54.00 spent ever!!! Would not recommend read more

I thought the slippery shrimp bowl was very good. We also had the sweet and sour bowl. I was disappointed that the only way to get green beans is a full order or a bowl. Would have liked to substitute rice for them and would easily have paid an upcharge if needed. My only option was broccoli for rice. read more

Clean and new. American Chinese. Ordered 2 bowls to go and fortune cookies. Nice mustards, sirracha and chili oil sides. Broccoli and chicken fresh. They'll do well at this Clark location. Would I rush back, maybe if I'm in the area. But this makes me yearn for lunch in Monterey Park. oh, and I never got those fortune cookies. read more

Food: got the classic slippery chicken and it was delicious. Definitely enough for one person, light although fried, and not overly sauced. Atmosphere: They put this new branch in an old fast food joint, but despite limited seating and a fast-food feel, the place was very clean, simple, and nice. Service: this was by far the highlight of our visit. The gentleman behind the register was super friendly, and willing to tell us all sorts of things about their opening, the menu, but never too much. after we sat he brought the food out to us, which I wouldn't have expected seeing how busy the place was. a half hour later, he still came by our table to check if we needed refills or anything else. When I grab chopsticks, he even offered some house-made hot oil from the back. Stellar service and I would come back just tip this guy Tip: prices were more than a Panda Express, for example, but you get a cleaner, more friendly, and more professional environment, and way better service, and higher quality food. Big fan of the Chinatown location. Enjoy the sweet and tangy Slippery Shrimp. What I like about 2.0 is that you can order an individual size in a bowl with rice and broccoli instead of a full order. Inside is small but have outdoor seating. Parking is limited and street parking is limited as well. read more

Not sure why it has such great reviews. Perhaps I may need to dine in. Ordered thru DoorDash and was very disappointed. Bland chow Mein. Bland Kung Pao chicken. Bland String beans. Honestly has no flavor. I was so hungry that I just ate the rice with some Sriracha so that I could have some flavor. Def will not be ordering again. read more

Love this place! Food always so fresh and made to order. We enjoy it all especially the Slippery Shrimp, Fried rice, and the Green beans with extra garlic! Soooo delicious! Wifey and moi were looking to pick up something after leaving the dog beach. I had suggested Chinese since that cuisine generally sucks around LA. Picked YC on a lark.....was initially disappointed because their menu was limited and specializes more on bowls (check out the menu because it may not be what you're imagining....?), and I wanted my usual, more traditional faves. Nonetheless, ordered the Slippery Shrimp and the Beef Fried Rice. The former was quite tasty, and the latter wasn't bad either (I'm more of a pork kinda guy). The cashier, whom I'm going to assume was Jim, was very attentive, even bringing out my to-go order after I had gone outside to talk with the owner of a 1970 Camaro Z/28 to had just pulled up. We chatted for a few min, then we parted ways. To boot, we didn't arrive home for 30+ minutes but the food was not stale in the least. Hot tip: If you like it spicy but your significant other doesn't, ask for the hot pepper oil (or some kind of Szechuan-style thing). Def gave my rice a nice kick. read more

I ordered take out here and the food was ok. Kung Pao Chicken was a bit too bland and did not give me the fix I get when I've dined at Yang Chow in Chinatown. The service was really friendly. The food is a little over priced as well and I'd rather make the trek to Chinatown to get my Yang Chow fix next time. read more

Same delicious shrimp but closer to home. Service was friendly but place is very busy. My tip is call ahead your open to pick up. There were so many orders, that food was running about 30 wait time. Also seating is limited as it was too cold to sit outside. Alternative is to order food and eat at the brewery right there as they allow food to be brought in. As a matter of fact, we noticed yang chow walk over and deliver orders. read more

My first time at YC2.0 and I have to say it's pretty good if you know what to expect. If you frequent Panda or any of those 2-item places you will definitely think it's over priced, but they do give you double portions then that of their competitors. We bought two bowls and it fed a family of four! Also, you can tell these guys care about what they do and I think they do it well! In this day and age it's tough running a restaurant and you can cut corners to have a competitive price but YC2.0 doesn't do that. Why the 4stars? Maybe show some love to yelpers and throwing some specials when you check in? It might feel less expensive if I got a free egg rolls or % off for being a customer... I'll be back soon to try more slippery dishes! read more

I use to go to the one downtown LA all of the time. Either my memory is jaded or this food is NOT the same! I ordered the slippery shrimp & it was not good at all! I also ordered lo mein and the noodles were over cooked. The shrimp fried rice was NOT fried rice. $50 for a meal that was at the very least mediocre. Yang Chow 2.NO read more

Been loving Yang Chow DTLA (Chinatown) for almost 30 yrs. Gave this new LB spot a try. It's definitely Yang Chow 2.0 - a small spot with a minimized menu (no noodles) but they've got my Slippery Shrimp. There's OG staff in the kitchen and in the front - they were super friendly/nice. I also got the chicken fried rice - the only reason why I'm not giving 5 stars is because there were grains of rice that weren't cooked through (crunchy). All and all, I had a good meal. I spent $30 - enough food to feed three people. I'll definitely go back. read more

I love this place!! Can ride my bike there (which is dangerous) but I get the slippery tofu bowl with brown rice. It comes with broccoli that's lightly cooked and crunchy. The chili oil on the side is worth it just to go there and get that. I think they even sell it bottled. I've also had the Kung Pao chicken and it's my 4 year olds favorite! Great addition to the neighborhood and it's a family run business. read more

I just realized, I never gave a review for this epic spot. All the hype, good reviews and recommendations on Nextdoor are LEGIT. The food and customer service is top notch. The slippery shrimp is probably one of the best dishes I have ever had and I'm not a big fan of shrimp. We like to order our food and grab a beer next door (pre-Covid19). Finally a great Chinese restaurant in Long Beach!! We ordered several things to try and take home for dinner. The Slippery Shrimp, Kung Pao Chicken & green beans were our favorites. These are the A la carte portions, and they're large portions. The picture was after we finished eating. Always love the slippery shrimp. I remember going to the OG location in Chinatown 15 years ago! Food here is pretty expensive but you do get a lot so there will always be leftovers. Our typical order is slippery shrimp a la carte, sweet and sour pork a la carte, house special pan fried noodles (SO good), and a green beans bowl (so we get some rice). Typically comes to $60-$70 but happy to support a smaller business whose food is always too quality. read more

Great service, delicious food, clean environment... the fast food version of Chinatown Yang Chow. Same chef, same dishes... the quality doesn't drop down. I'm vegetarian, so I just order dishes with some customized to it, still taste good. STRONGLY RECOMMENDED. read more

First time ordering at this location, I had the kung Pao chicken, mixed vegetables, chicken chow mein and chicken fried rice. Very common items. Kung Pao chicken was about average both in taste and portion, $15 for the à la cart serving. Chicken chow mein was very salty this could've been one out here. Mixed veggies was above average and taste portion size below average for the price. Chicken fried rice well above size average and it taste. Also ordered some eggrolls, these were definitely well above average I give those a nine out of a possible 10. Overall rating is just above average but definitely nothing to brag about Most likely would not order from this location again, as I know many other places with better food and larger portions. read more

As a person who has made possibly 3 reviews in his lifetime, I truly felt inspired to leave this because of the food and service. I guess that's why anyone leaves a review, but after eating I felt inspired enough by both. To keep it simple, my wife and I walked in and right off the bat, the gentlemen working was warm and welcoming. After explaining some options and overall just being a genuinely friendly person we ordered. The pork chops were perfect, as well as the pan fried noodles. I don't have some thrilling story, this is just my simple way of showing appreciation for a place that makes great food and treats their customers great! read more

i don't know why i need a million options, i usually get the same stuff anyway! the menu here is small. the food is good, but i like variety of dishes when i order chinese + this place just seems to offer only the greatest hits; no soups. we skip the bowl as the value is in the single dish portions. small parking lot, although i have never had an issue. outdoor dining available. read more

I've always loved the slippery shrimp when I go to their downtown location. Finally decided to try the local one since it's so close to home. Really happy I did! Shrimp was delicious and just as flavorful. So excited to have some of Yang Chow's menu closer to come. Slippery shrimp are a must! read more

We love another chain restaurant nearby but decided to try this. Very nice people but we won't eat there again. Too expensive and we just didn't like what we got which were two very basic dishes. Full of green onions and just too heavy. Very disappointed and not satisfying at all. We were hoping for a good experience for a new alternative but not here. Once the food is not what you like, one resents spending over $50 for a disappointment when you picked up yourself. read more

The food is really good! A lot of chinese food tastes really processed and makes you feel like crap, but this place is high quality and fresh. We had the house lo mein, the best kung pao chicken I've ever tasted, slippery shrimp, and veggie fried rice. Everything was so good! My fiancée isn't a Chinese food person but she loved this place! I highly recommend coming here. read more

While we were trying to do the math, our waiter stood over us watching the payment screen like he was supervising a final exam. He was clearly waiting to make sure a tip was entered. I responded, "Yeah, I just finished eating," while holding up the bag that made it painfully obvious. Only then did they tell me where the restroom was. Nothing says "valued customer" quite like being interrogated about whether you actually ate there while carrying your leftovers. It's unfortunate because the food had some highlights, and the restaurant itself has a cute atmosphere. But the service made it feel like customers are viewed more as transactions than guests. Between hovering over us during payment and questioning whether I even belonged there after spending money, I left feeling more unwelcomed than satisfied. I love seafood and normally when I get a seafood pasta at any restaurant it's just whatever and fine, however the seafood pasta here was spectacular! After seeing so many great reviews about this place, I had to try it myself. I anticipated a long…read moreline to get in, as people had been saying that you order and pay at the counter. I showed up around 5pm and sure enough there was already a line forming in front of the restaurant. The restaurant is located around a neighborhood, so you have to find street parking, which can be challenging. I already did my research on what I wanted to order, so my process went fairly smoothly. I imagine some other people were not as prepared and asked a lot of questions at the counter which can make the wait time even longer for other people in line. We ordered caesar salad, pizza focaccia with soppressata, squid ink tonnerelli, and ribeye tagliata. We also ordered some glasses of wine. After ordering, they walked us to our table inside. This location used to be a bbq restaurant- shady grove- before they closed down. And wow I was so impressed by the change of the patio vibe. It looked way nicer now under Due Fuori. I truly believe the vibe of a restaurant is equally important to the quality of the food, and this place nailed it. Also, apparently you can still order more stuff even after you're seated. They don't really have dedicated server for each table but the service was pretty efficient in my opinion. Now the food, everything was delicious, I have no notes! Caesar salad, very good. Pizza, omg amazing. And I'm not a pizza kinda person, so this is really a compliment! It's the thick kind of pizza, and they put some honey on it too which makes it even more delicious to me. Next was the squid ink pasta, another delightful dish. My only complaint is that it's not big enough of a portion, haha! The ribeye tagliata was so good. It was served with some salad that's very refreshing. The server explained to us that the original dish comes with the greens and cherry tomatoes underneath the meat, but they serve it separately to keep the freshness and crunch. The meat has some nice crust on the outside, very flavorful. We ended up taking some of the ribeye home, as we were already really full. It was plenty of food to share between two people. I definitely will come back to try other dishes, especially the other popular pasta dishes. This place has been really popular and I heard the line is still long even after a few months (or maybe it has been a year now?). Definitely recommend this place to anyone who loves Italian food in town. Very hip, vibey place, and delicious food!

Needed to start with some fried cheese Kurds (so fresh, served with marinara & various ranch flavors) as well as Buffalo Wings spun with a GOOD authentic Buffalo sauce. Then, PIZZAS. Our server suggested pepperoni for kids, a sausage & ??? in a white sauce that was so well balanced by the flavors, both delicate & bold. Then, the specialty pizza of the day, prochetta and peaches with dabbles of ricotta! It's was almost decadent with the creamy sweetness and salt. On top of all this, a rotating 21 tap bar of beer selections from all around world along with a deep/wide selection of delicious wines. Tons of free parking. Service was outstanding. OMG FINALLLLLLYYYYYY they opened a place in LB! Ive been going to the Yang Chows in DTLA for years and ive been waiting for this location in LB since i never can find any decent Chinese food places in the area. If you have been to the other location, the quality of food is the same!! still great quality and service*** its just not a formal dining restaurant. :) The menu is simple and straight to the point and very reasonably priced Ive tried almost everything off the menu and everything is super tasty. My favorite is the slippery shrimp!!!!***** Also they arent stingy with the amount of meat they put into each bowl which is a extra PLUS *** you know how sometimes other places can be skimpy on the meat and then its like hmph--wheres the meat?!* . hehe but you dont need to feel that way here bc the portions are good**** ... just writing about that shrimp has me thinking about the shrimp..... THAT SHRIMP THOUGH.... I may even go back today to satisfy my craving .. *** YES ITS THAT GOOD!!*** If you arent a shirmp/ seafood lover like me, then the sweet and sour chicken is a good pick***its really good too!!!!. This is the first time coming to this restaurant. I was very disappointed on the customer service. I'm not sure it's because they are new in town or because they haven't got there act together. There was a lot of stumbling around in the front line. I have to say for a fast food atmosphere. They are charging set down restaurant prices. But what got me to write this review is when I ask for a cup of water. They gave me a dixie cup 2.5 inches tall. I figure if I paying $45 for two persons at a fast food restaurant, they should at least give a decent size cup of water. Like the other reviews said I might as well go to Panga Express. read more

As someone who's been a loyal fan of the original spot in Chinatown for years, I was thrilled to discover this little hidden gem! Same incredible flavors I've loved forever, just without the downtown traffic and parking circus. The smaller setup is cozy, with a no nonsense just give me some of that yummy goodness vibes. The outdoor seating is a bonus when the weather plays nice. It's like all the best parts of the main location, minus the wait. Perfect for a quick bite or a take it a run meal. Total win! read more
