I've been very wary of indoor dining during COVID - in fact this is only the second time I've gone since the very beginning. I was seated in a far corner away from two other tables, and those tables had plastic dividers on each side. I ultimately felt safe and made sure to leave a hefty tip - restaurant staff are risking their health and safety so that they can work and my waitress was wonderful. A. Very busy place as It seemed that most of Hyannis was here. :-) A complementary bread basket with warm olive oil and olives was shared with us shortly after we were seated. We tried out a few items we never had never had before - 2 appetizers and a dessert. The batter on the fried artichokes had a bit of a fishy aftertaste. Would have been good to have it with a horseradish type sauce to help with the flavor. I think the same oil that is used to cook the calamari was used to deep fry them. The gnocchi puffs were light and fluffy,- very nice and we enjoyed them. We had a white wine as suggested by the server which nicely accented the flavors. Dinner was eggplant parm that you can't go wrong with. Dessert was called Tartuffo which was definitely the highlight of the meal and a must try- vanilla ice cream with frozen white chocolate shell and mango and passion fruit filled complemented by a rasberry reduction sauce. My other half started with the clam chowder which he said was excellent and seafood Florentine, which was scallops and shrimp with spinach with a garlic wine sauce, which he loved. Very broad menu -- which I think is part of the problem because I don't believe everything on a menu that goes from clam chowder to pate to lobster to veal parm to cannelloni to manicotti to steak to numerous types of pasta x numerous sauces can be that fresh. That said, the veal parm was very good. The pate was pretty good but don't feel that recently made. The antipasto was solid but unexceptional, the artichokes were my favorite. The linguine with clams had lots and lots of clams but was salty and the linguine was both in short supply and not particularly impressive. My waiter was a little rude but he at least did his job. This year, the first time, we sat outside. The food was amazing and the service was great, except that the waitress had given our beers in the bottle while the next time we got beers they were in glasses. The third time was not good. We had gotten sat outside and ordered our meals. It took 45 minutes to receive our meals, clam chowder and pastas. We have had our food come out in 20 minutes every time. Even when the place had no empty seat. My family has worked in the restaurant business and we know that it doesn't take that long to make clam chowder and pastas. Obviously the guy had forgotten even though he only had 2 other small tables. It was clear the food had been rushed when someone got the wrong type of pasta dish. As well as there being a random penne in a linguini dish. This means it was rushed which left us disappointed. The food nonetheless is was delicious. If you want good service stay inside since I believe the more veteran servers work inside. read more

The setting is great and right in the heart of down town Hyannis on Main Street. It was a very nice day and we were able to snag a table outside on their lovely sidewalk patio. Even outside the tables are dressed to impress. Deciding what to have can be difficult since they offer a large menu with many appetizers, salads and entrees to choose from. Of course the Northern Italian specialties, veal and poultry but they also have a large list of seafood and beef items. I had the Shrimp Orvieto, which is sauteed jumbo shrimps with mushrooms, artichoke hearts, roasted garlic, peppers and shallots in a Marsala wine sauce and served over linguine. The dish was very good indeed! Their clam chowder is very rich and creamy, the clams were tender and with just the right amount of seasoning. I love dining with my daughter because we always agree to try different things and to share our meals. She had the chicken parmigiana sandwich, which we though sounded unique and it was delicious. All sandwiches come with a side salad. When in the area I would not hesitate to dine here again. The food and the service were both superb. read more

DOG FRIENDLY PATIO!!! We made a reservation while in the car on the way to this restaurant because we heard they liked dogs and I wanted Italian food. Well this did not disappoint. They were so welcoming of my dog! The service was also excellent. The waiter was very attentive, brought us extra HOT bread and our food came extremely quickly. We both got pasta dishes and the portions were very large and the sauces tasted delicious. My fiancé especially loved his vodka sauce and I definitely would order that next time because it was amazing. At the end of the meal they bring you a chocolate mint as well! Great food, great service, in a great setting. I've eaten here twice, last time was 7/6/2008. We've only eaten outside (I've never been inside) so take my review with that caveat. Dinner starts with a fine bread with olive oil for dipping. My wife had a tomato and mozzarella salad which was very good but which is not my favorite salad (I've kind of worn that out over that the last 49 years.) Last visit, I had the Lobster Fra Diavlo. 1.5 Pound Lobster perfectly cooked with perfectly cooked al dente angel hair pasta in the quintessential Fra Diavlo sauce. A complete home run - this dish was executed and served perfectly. It could not have been any better. At $37.00 it was worth every penny. My wife had a penne pasta with chicken in a pink sauce served with red peppers. My 9 year old daughter tried a bite and ended up eating 1/2 her mom's dinner. Her chicken fingers were perfectly cooked but quite bland (probably aimed at a 5 year olds palate) so the two of them finished them by dipping them in my wife's remaining sauce. Great wine list (we had a $55 dollar Brunello di Montepulciano ) which was a perfect match for the food. We were there early on Sunday (6pm) so most of our surrounding diners had kids (one table had a crying baby and one had two little girls about 2 and 1 throwing stuff on the ground) - luckily they were finishing up as we were starting. I mention this in case you are ooking for some romantic dining sans kids outside - if you are - wait until later in the night. The service was attentive and friendly. read more

I have been on the Cape for decades, and Alberto's has always been a real favorite of mine and my family. Since the pandemic something has changed. Twice I have been back to the restaurant in the recent past and twice I have been disappointed. The staffing is still good; I see a lot of old friends, but the food is dramatically worse. This usually means a big shift in the kitchen and I have to warn you. I don't know how long this is going to last. Two recent examples of this change are as follows: I ordered veal saltimbocca, which is far and away one of my favorites. It consists of veal covered with prosciutto and the proper sauce. This was totally different from saltimbocca I've had in the past, including in Milan, Venice and Rome. The second example was very recent; when I ordered an Alfredo sauce. We all know Alfredo is loaded with calories and is very bad for you, but tastes great with its cheesy buttery flavor. The white stuff they put on this dish was almost tasteless and about as far from Alfredo sauce as you could get. I hope that Alberto's returns to the style and class that it. used to have in the kitchen but for now I'm staying away. read more

This is a nice Italian restaurant with amazing seafood dishes. I got the clam chowder, which was by far the best that I had on the cape. A must get! I then got the Capri, which was breaded veal with lobster on top. It was a huge portion of veal, well worth the price of the dish and definitely more that I could finish. The veal was really delicious and tender. The lobster was juicy but a little over cooked. I also had the apple crisp dessert which was delicious as well. I thought this was supposed to be one of the better restaurants in Hyannis. What a let down. The food is extremely expensive and does not deliver. They are listed as fine dining; it is anything but. The drop ceiling was full of water stains. The service was some of the worst on the cape. The only time we saw our waiter was when he took our order, dropped off the food, and brought the check. They don't even have a "water boy" so my glass was empty for the second half of my meal. I ordered the Calamari Fra Diavolo which was one of the cheaper dishes on the menu at $21. My gf had the Seafood Alfredo which was $30. The Alfredo was completely bland and came with 2 shrimp, a few scallops, and lobster about the equivalent of 1 claw. None of the dishes even come with a salad to offset the outrageous prices. The only redeeming quality was the check in offer yelp had for $10 off. Seriously, don't waste your time and money here. The Roadhouse Cafe down the street is much better if you want romantic fine dining. read more
