Entrance from both the front side (off Las Tunas) or back (free parking lot). Service was quick and food came out piping. Lots of families with little kids dining too. Loud dining ambience. Came on a weekend and even though we had a larger party we were seated pretty quickly. i really like the pineapple pork chop sandwich, great balance of sweet and savory. The peanut butter toast was also rlly good. the green bean were very flavorful the century egg and pork congee had no pork and was not as flavorful as i'd liked. the rice and noodle dishes were decent, nothing too special. i really want to try the clay pot next time which is only available during dinner time
I came to Alice's Kitchen with my family for a post graduation dinner because 1) This location is opened until midnight 2) The space can accommodate large parties. The thing is, I thought Alice's Kitchen was strictly a Hong Kong style diner, however, there is an entire section dedicated to Canto family style dishes. How lucky for me because it made ordering for my party of 11 seamless and easy. We ordered the following: -deep fried cod fillet with spicy salt ($13.95) -sweet & sour pork ($13.75) -kung pao chicken ($15.25) -beef chow fun. ($14.99) -yang chow fried rice ($15.50) -stir-fried string beans with minced pork ($14.99) Honestly, this was just as good, if not better than any Chinese family style banquet dinner I've ever eaten. Every single dish was solid and beautifully executed. Of course crowd favorites included the deep fried cod fillet and sweet and sour pork, but everything tasted as expected. Portions are generous given how reasonably priced everything is and ordering 2 of every dish was more than enough for my family. Our meal was very good and service was impeccable. I'll be back, I'll be back. For Hong Kong breakfast and everything else in between.
The decor is very unusual but also fun for many of us. I think it's unique and all over the place with displays of movie posters, random items, and miscellaneous things such as shirts and signs. It was quite busy, the place cannot accommodate a party of 10 or more as the largest table seems to fit 8 comfortably or 10 if 2 of them are children. The wait time was quite long for a party of 9, parties of 4 or less were able to get seated almost immediately. When seated, the table was one of the larger ones but still a quiet squeeze. We each ordered a dish which I got the sizzling ribeye with mushroom sauce and pasta while the kids got noodles. It took some time for food to come out, they came almost one at a time. One of our orders didn't come so we had to ask about it and it did eventually come (bbq pork with egg on rice). There's steak was thinner than expected so asking for medium rare seemed irrelevant as the steak became well done as it was on a hot plate. The corn was good, a few pieces of husk was found but not bad. The pasta had a heap of sauce which we actually liked. The kids ate the noodles, which was basically noodles with soybean sprouts. The night was quite busy and lots of people making it super loud. Service was slow, we had to Ariadne our hands quite a few times and sometimes had to get up to find someone to pack our food to go. Overall a good try, maybe we'll be back but not anytime soon as a big party.
Dined in for dinner around 9:30 PM. We had a group of 5. We were seated right away. The restaurant was 3/4 full. Atmosphere: It has a lot of old school items and it felt like we were in Hong Kong. Parking: Plenty in the back at this time. The front has parking as well. When we were there, a blackout occurred, but the staff reassured us we were okay. They provided lights and kept on checking up on us. I loved their enthusiasm throughout the night. I ordered the chicken steak with spaghetti and the lemon ice tea. It was huge and tasty. No complaints here. I would rate it 4.5/5! The lemon ice tea came with unlimited refills. The waitress was so nice to give us a drink to go without charging us.
This is a crazy outdoor vibe but indoors. It's like eating at an open market! Cute decor. Service was okay but can use some improvement. Didn't get a water refill. The food was great! I really like the rib eye flavor but it was a little tough. Also enjoyed the eggplant. The noodles were okay. I'd pick something different next time. Yummy BBQ pork in the egg dish. I need to confess something to you: I love Chinese food. However, it wasn't until the last few years where I've come to realize the distinctions between Hong Kong cuisine and mainland Chinese cuisine. It's been an exploration. But with each new Hong Kong style restaurant I try, the more expansive my view, and belly, get. Alice's Kitchen, specifically this one in Temple City, was a refreshing look at not just the food but the vibe as well. Design - Falling into a different world Walking into Alice's Kitchen from the back parking lot is like walking into a vibrant food court back in the 1980s. Bright neon signs are placed throughout the dining room floor, faux food stalls can be seen to give more of a community feel to the inside, and I love the sprawl of different props of newspapers, t-shirts hung on clotheslines, and big advertisements on the walls like you might see in a food court. It really elevated the atmosphere of the space and I loved their branded orange plates, bowls, spoons, and chopsticks. It gave whimsy to this place. Staff - Cool The staff here are like what you expect from any Chinese restaurant. You try to flag one down or grab their attention with your wandering eyes and when they come over you can tell them what you want. They take your order and usually within 5-7 minutes you'll start to see your food heading your way. Perfect for anyone hungry and dying to eat right away. When you ask for to-go boxes at the end of the meal (you definitely will) moments after you get your food packed someone will appear with a tablet ready for you to pay right there at the table. Talk about speed. Food - Onions galore I see that in Hong Kong cuisine there is this mix match of Western and Chinese tastes put together. This fusion of ideas is what brings something like their large pineapple bun sandwiches to existence. We got the BBQ pork (char siu) pineapple bun sandwich and this came warm with a fried egg, slab of butter, generous slices of BBQ pork, and a savory sauce. For one person, this could be a good main dish to be accompanied by a side. For this split between two people, this is a savory sweet dish perfect to wet the appetite. Highly recommend getting one of these. The sweet & sour pork was nostalgic to me. Served with chunks of white onion, green peppers, and pineapple the flavor of this reminded me very much of the sweet & sour pork Chinese-Korean restaurants serve, except for the color being different and no cabbage in the sauce. It has the sweetness brought out by the pineapple but still a bit of tang and deep savoriness of the pork with each bite. The onions were undercooked and you'll see this as a pattern for all their dishes containing onions. The French style filet mignon chunks were fantastic. Juicy and flavorful, each bite makes the mouth water more and more and the texture gave such pleasant mouth feels. The fried basil accompanying it also gave a burst of freshness and herbacious flavors. Just be careful not to accidentally bite into a chunk of ginger. Unless you love ginger. Then go right ahead. The beef chow fun with black bean sauce was great. Nice balance of their black bean sauce with the textures of the chunks of beef, the onions and peppers in this add a nice crunch and difference in flavor that balances all the savoriness. The tofu with spiced salt was also incredible. When I ate this still piping hot the crisp exterior with the hot soft interior made me smile. The spiced coating was flavorful and with some rice it gives a nice balance with each bite. Final Thoughts With all the food we got for dinner, I'm sure I leaned more into the Chinese cuisine side than the Hong Kong side. However, I was happy with the quality and depth of flavors in everything I had. Alice's Kitchen has definitely been one of the better Hong Kong restaurants I've had and I'm excited to explore more of this cuisine in the future. Can't wait to come back!

My first observation was that the staff are very efficient and dishes came out very quickly. They have a large selection of menu items, decent pricing, and the sizes are good for sharing. There is a fairly large indoor seating area, and a parking lot in the back. It can get busy and loud during mealtimes. A comforting meal if you enjoy HK cafe food!
My boyfriend wanted baked pork chop, so we came here. I've never been to Hong Kong so I don't know what it looks like. But when I walked in, it felt like I could've been in Hong Kong. It was colorful and had night time, street-like vibes. We ended up getting the baked pork chop with pasta. Flavor was good. Not as cheesy tasting as other places I've had it at, which is a good thing for me. In general, I think the baked pork chop with rice is better, since I feel the rice absorbs the flavor more. I also got the salt and pepper pork chop, which seemed to be a popular dish here. The pork was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Service was good. They even pack your leftover food for you.
Had a great experience at Alice Kitchen for a family-style dinner. We made a reservation in advance for their 8-10 person set menu ($438), and it was definitely worth it. The biggest highlight is how convenient the set menu is--no need to think about what to order, and you get a wide variety of dishes. Every course we had was solid. Standouts for me included the braised pigeon, crispy beef brisket (crispy on the outside and tender inside), ginger scallion lobster, and the black truffle fried rice. The portions were generous, and everything came out well-prepared and flavorful. They also included a complimentary Ovaltine French toast for dessert, which was a nice sweet ending. We added the HK-style pork ribs as well, which were also very tasty. One thing to note: the restaurant is quite lively and can get a bit noisy, and there are no private rooms. Not a dealbreaker, but something to keep in mind if you're looking for a quieter setting. Overall, great food, good value for a large group, and a fun dining experience. Would definitely come back!
Came back to get take out for NYE's dinner after our first choice closed early! Thankful for Alice's kitchen for still opens around 8pm on NYE! We order 5 dishes! Everything was big portion and tasty!! I wish I live closer and I would definitely be a regular. Before we left LA, we visited Alice's cafe one last time and got take outs for breakfast. Got our favorite pineapple buns and corned beef egg sandwich. During our 5 days in LA , we came 3 times! I'm sure I'll be back in the future for more good HK cafe food! read more

What's up: Visiting the Temple City location this time around. We've been to the Monterey Park one several times, so since we were in the area, we decided to try this one for dinner. Parking: They have a public lot in the back that is shared among the nearby businesses. There is also street parking up front on Las Tunas. Environment: Since we came in through the back parking lot, we walked past the restrooms and made our way up to the front. We got seated quickly and placed our order. The place was well lit and good came pretty fast. Staff members were also friendly. This place is all indoor seating. What was ordered: - Curry Chicken (tasty) - Chicken Steak with Jumbo HK Pineapple Bun (yum) - Preserved Meat Clay Pot Rice (good) - Chicken Steak (good) Yay/Nay/Meh: Yay. The food was just as good as their other location. This place is a bit larger and more comfortable in seating compared to the Monterey Park location. Credit cards are accepted. read more
The place is decorated like a Hong Kong dai pai dong. Very cute decorations. Total blast from the past. The food is excellent too. Lots of wok hay. Friendly staff and excellent service. For the record, my picky eater doesn't eat Chinese food- yes, she's strange and the way she eats is super annoying. Prior to coming over to Alice's Kitchen, we picked up a personal sized pizza so that she could have something to eat, but the pizza got cold and stale so quickly, so I asked one of the staff members if they could reheat the pizza for us even though I assumed there might be some sort of no-outside-food policy. To my surprise, they didn't say anything about the outside food and happily reheated the pizza for my daughter. And the restaurant manager even swung by and checked on my daughter just to make sure that the pizza was good. So kind! Food wise, everything was delicious and reasonably priced. Some friends highly recommended the Monterey Park location but they were under renovation so we stopped by the Temple City place. The ambiance was so cool- the decor and walls made it feel like you were sitting outside a bunch of old buildings. We went for lunch so got the lunch/dinner menu. I ordered the pineapple bun sandwich with pork chop and the French toast. Both were DELICIOUS and portions were great! The sandwich had the perfect amount of crispiness on top and the pork chop was super flavorful and not dry at all. There was also an egg inside and a yummy sauce (and I requested extra sauce on the side). The Ovaltine French toast was good but a little sweet so it was perfect to share. I also ordered an ice half milk tea and half coffee. BEST of all, they gave me a refill in a To-go cup when I was leaving! Service was quick and there were a lot of workers there. Alice's kitchen has been on my list for so long to try, as one of the top favs of locals that I have talked to for go to hong kong restaurants. Coming here on a Tuesday afternoon, our party of 6 was able to be easily seated and they were able to take our orders very quickly. The one item I was told to try had to be their pineapple bun sandwiches and I have to agree that this dish is something that you need to try. The pineapple bun goes great with the meat and the sauce (albeit a bit on the sweeter side) makes for a nice filling meal that I barely was able to even finish. I personally chose the pork but I believe that any choice would be great! The other dishes we shared like the porridges also were great additions to our meal. If you love drinking teas, they also provide a AYCE tea deal for very cheap (I believe around 5$) that they will refill whenever you want and although a bit sweet, is a great deal if you want something to sip on while you are eating your meal. Overall, definitely lives up to the hype, definitely a place to put on your list! read more

So good. I'm not in the 626 often but when I do I always make it a point to get some solid Chinese/HK food. There's parking in the back and when you enter, the interior deco is like we were teleported to Asia - neon lights, lots of seating, and it feels like we were at a hawker almost. Service was quick We got: - beef congee (5/5) beef is so tender and porridge was flavorful. Probably the softest beef I've had in congee - tomato pork chop over rice (5/5) so nostalgic flavor was perfect, lots of sauce and pork chop was so tender too. Was worried it'd be dry - big pineapple bun sandwich with char siu and came with egg (5/5) I'm not a sweets person and wouldn't typically order a pineapple bun but so good with everything- tomato, egg, and char siu. I would come back for their other food and I'd try the pineapple bun sandwich with another meat like chicken steak next time. We were so full and satisfied! read more
After coming back from Hong Kong, I was craving cha Chan tang again. So of course, Alice's Kitchen is top of mind when I want a pineapple bun. The sauce in this bun with chicken is super delicious and portion is really big. It's better to come here with a party of 4+ so you can try a variety of things- such as the deep fried pork chop and beef chow fun. read more
For very fashionable Hong Kong cafes, Alice's Kitchen very much fits the mold, with a stylish interior complete with swag for sale, simplistic seating, a crowded shared parking lot in front (front is the parking lot side!) and some street parking behind. Service is good but you do have to spend effort to flag them down, and the food does the job. Deep fried tofu and fried chicken wings are on point, curry fish balls are tasty, wasn't quite as excited about the rest. Congee (jook) is good but not memorable, and, well, when you order steak at a Hong Kong cafe, let's just say you know what you're ordering. Pineapple buns did not get raves. To be fair the menu, while not crazy large, actually does have a lot of choices, and we only tried a fraction. read more

My good friend showed me this place as she has wanted to show me hong kong breakfast/brunch food, and ohmylawdd this was all so GOOD!! We walked in on a weekday afternoon and seated ourselves. I immediately loved how fun the decor was, styled like a Hong Kong night market with fun magazine clippings, art, etc. You pretty much flag workers for service - everyone was very kind and we got our food fast. FOOD: -jumbo hk style pineapple bun set with chicken steak (I beelined for this item as my friend recommended it, and although i was scared as I love eating pineapple buns by themselves sweet without savory additions, i loved this!! the chicken steak was tender and the sauce they used for the sandwich was delicious. it all paired well with the pineapple buns) -ovaltine french toast (SO! GOOD! i love how thick the toast was and i loved the condensed milk filling. ovaltine is a popular chocolate malt powder and it paired amazing with the toast) DRINKS: -hot milk tea (the condensed milk they provide each table goes so deliciously with the tea! I'm new to hong kong style milk tea but i definitely found a new favorite tea) I will definitely go to Alice's Kitchen again and try more of the food! This spot has been in my list for so long! I believe this is their 2nd location in the San Gabriel Valley. The restaurant looked exactly how it would in Hong Kong (except a lot bigger). I ordered their beef stew with wonton, curry fish ball, Ovaltine toast, and pork chop with rice (substitute tomato sauce for cream sauce). Overall, I think this was a great spot. It's probably one of my top 3 Hong Kong cafes in the SGV. read more

Alice's kitchen is probably one of my favorite hong kong restaurants. I have been to both locations many times. Their service is pretty fast even when they're busy and we were checked up on a few times and got our waters filled. Their big portions are always a plus for me. I usually get their baked pork chop, chicken steak, and pineapple bun. This time i got the sweet and sour pork, which was super hot and well seasoned. It was slightly crispy still and i liked how it didn't have any bones (some restaurants use the rib part). We also ordered the sizzling ribeye steak plate which came with a side of corn, some onions, with mushroom sauce. It was also super hot and seasoned well. The beef was a little bit chewier than expected but I don't expect it to compare to a steak at a fancy restaurant. It was still very satisfying! I always order the lemon iced tea or HK style milk tea, which is refillable. It's kind of non negotiable. I always leave full and satisfied. I would definitely recommend it if you're looking for good variety and classic HK food! read more

Solid HK cafe spot in SGV! Gets busy during peak meal hours so be sure to arrive a little early. Went for the breakfast served 8am to 11:30am, food was solid and comes with a drink. And for the breakfast set, we changed the toast to the pineapple bun...loved it! Will definitely be back here again to try other things on the menu read more
Alice's kitchen has two locations but I try to come to this location more due to their aura. The decoration transports you to another world. I also feel like it is more spacey and doesn't feel so close-knit. I have been to Alice's a couple of times. I usually come for dinner. There is parking in the back of the restaurant if you can't find parking on the main street of Las Tunas. The service is okay but they are quick to order and food arrives quickly. My favorite item here would have to be the fried chicken steak. The chicken steak is cooked perfectly and the skin has a nice crunch to it. I also enjoyed their clay pot and noodle dishes. Overall, a great place for any time of the day. read more

Oh wow I just discovered there's another location in Temple City! This location has much bigger indoor seating area but no outdoor seating. Similar to the one in Monterey Park, the interior decor replicates the retro Hong Kong cafe vibe! Got the jumbo HK style pineapple bun set with chicken and the set comes with a choice of your drink (I got hot milk tea). Love this set - the chicken is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, there's also an egg in the bun! Did I mention they also have a large menu featuring traditional Hong Kong style drinks and desserts? Whether you are looking for congee, noodles, or more western style breakfast, they have it all! Pro tip: I believe they only take cash if the total is under $30! There are plenty of parking at the back! read more

We were some of the first customers to check out Alice Kitchen in Temple City when it opened, and we were thrilled that the famous Monterey Park spot finally set up shop closer to home. The decor totally feels like a Hong Kong street food joint, and the food's as authentic as it gets--silky smooth HK milk tea and fluffy pineapple buns that never disappoint. The breakfast sets are good deals at under $13, with a milk tea, a main dish, and a side all included. Service is fast and friendly, just like you'd find in HK, which makes it even better. Parking's easy--there's a lot in the back, or you can grab a spot on the street out front. We've been hooked since day one, and it's awesome having a taste of Hong Kong so close by. Whether you're after a quick bite or a solid breakfast, this place nails it without any fuss. Can't ask for much more than that! read more
i'm so obsessed with this spot because of the huge menu and nostalgic vibe. the service is quick and it gets busy, but the wait is fast. drinks - we tried the hong kong milk tea and ovaltine with horlick, and i liked how you could add condensed milk to your preferred liking. i'd definitely recommend getting the ovaltine hot over cold. ovaltine french toast - a bit on the sweeter side, but it's perfect to share! not too chocolatey and perfectly moist pineapple bun sandwich - we tried this with the chicken and barbeque pork, and i will say some parts of the meat were really fatty and a bit discomforting. however, the bun itself made up for it because it is so crispy and the right amount of sweetness. i think this would be fantastic with the ham! beef stew noodle soup - i don't like my beef noodle soup to be too herbaly, and this one was perfectly flavorful and light! the beef is tender, and the noodle is the perfect consistency there's definitely something for everyone here! it's perfect for a family breakfast/brunch! read more

Had a chance to try this place for the first time. I have only tried their other location in San Gabriel. This place has plenty of parking behind and you can park on the street as well. First off this place was packed. I only ordered togo last time, but this was our first experience eating in doors. Overall the staff was quite nice, but they would forget to get things because they are too busy. Fortunately when we got there, we got a seat before the rush. After there was many people waiting around. We tried many dishes and although some were quite decent, some were a bit salty. The Salty Fish Fried rice had clumps of salt unfortunately. The Half Calamari, and Pepper Salt Chicken wings were pretty good as well as the Baked Pork Noodle and the Porridge. Those all seem to be pretty authentic and were glad we were able to try it. I liked that the pan fried noodle was crispy, but I would see if they had other sauce with other ingredients next time. I believe it is just everything we ordered that didnt have a good variety and all geared towards more towards the salty side. Overall had a decent experience, and liked how it looked like Hong Kong inside. If it is the same owners as the other Alice Kitchen, then they were one of the originals that opened Delicious Food Corner, before they expanded and franchised it out. Until next time! read more

Foods ok. Service was not good then it got worse. When we got to the restaurant, we sat ourselves down, I got us a menu. No one came to us to serve until I wanted to order. The bill was $42 and I left no top. This one server asked me "Why you don't give me tips" I was like the foods bad. It was, the noodles I only took a few bites. She kept pressing on WHY WOULDNT I GIVE HER A TIP. I am not going to tip if you just order my food and bring me the food. She also never checked on us. read more

Alice's kitchen! I've been here once before and i love their cha chaan teng food, and esp their red bean ice!!! I got it again with grass jelly (鴛鴦冰) and it is soooo nostalgic~ could be my last meal on death row for food I got the string beans (for my daily dose of veggies) and baked chicken rice!! normally I get baked pork chop rice but I like the juiciness of the chicken. love the string beans, can never go wrong with those. the baked chicken rice tasted like childhood too! the ketchupy tomatoey rice mixed with cheese~~~~ it's such a guilty pleasure and I love it so much :D service felt like I was back in Hong Kong but nicer~ one of our waitresses talked to us casually as if we were close, which felt welcoming and comforting in a way ambiance feels like you're in Hong Kong!! with all the neon lights and Hong Kong decor and memorabilia all around. literally feels like im eating at a hawker stall or something. it's so cute!!! 11/10 read more

I love coming here for a Hong Kong style breakfast. The pineapple buns are always warm and fresh. The milk tea and lemon tea are consistent. The lunch noodles and fried rice are also good with generous portions. The restaurant is decorated with HK street decor and is casual. It can get really busy on weekends and there's no way to put your name on the waitlist before you get there. Delicious spot! read more

Tried a mix of dishes here; chow fun, curry fish balls, char siu rice with egg, and soy-braised wings. Everything was tasty and comforting, classic HK café flavors. Saturday early afternoon when we arrived and the waiting line for table was quite long. Fish fillet congee was good, I like the thickness of the porridge. Add a little bit of pepper and soy sauce on the porridge and it was perfect! Chicken wings are piping hot, crispy and very salty. Pineapple bun was ok, I've had better bun elsewhere but it's not bad. We've driven by Alice's Kitchen plenty of times, and always wanted to try it, so when we couldn't decide what to have for dinner, we gave them a try. This place is so cute and spacious, transporting you to HK. As we walked in, we were greeted by their servers. We decided to get their food Togo. We ordered their Sizzling Chicken Steak with garlic sauce, Stir-fried String Beans W/ Minced Pork & Preserved Vegetable, Beef W/ Dark Soy Sauce Flat Rice Noodle, and Fried Chicken Wings W/Spicy Salt. Everything was really good except that the Chow fun lacked a little flavor. It just needed some more soy sauce. Other than that, the food was really good and the portions were great.
