This might be the most disappointed I've ever been leaving a Mexican restaurant. I'm on the west coast where I've never eaten a Mexican meal I didn't care for until now. We were on the road and couldn't have leftovers so the Mrs and I usually share a meal and buy an extra taco to even it up. When the food got to the table it looked and smelled great but looks can be deceiving. Both of us thought that the food lacked flavor and seasoning. Their free chips are amazing. So crispy and kind of thick, as all authentic Mexican chips are. Their salsa is decent as well but not really spicy at all. Veggie burrito was pretty bland and way too much rice. Thought it was strange that the lettuce and pico came on the side instead of inside. The tiny strip of sauce on top didn't really make sense either -- make it a wet burrito or leave it off. Tortilla was a little dry. What a lovely dining experience this was this evening. Our food was delicious; we were able to sit outside without issue, and the best service we've had in years. If I were local I'd be eating here once a month or more. I had what I call Karen's Special- Ensalada with Acapulco chicken and pinto beans. My wife had nachos with Acapulco chicken. Very tasty. Exterior and exterior are clean and in good repair. The outdoor seating is great-- when the temperature is good. It's a little brisk when fall appears. Amigo's service is superior! The wait staff is friendly, fast, and efficient. The chefs are outstanding! The Acapulco Chicken Salad is almost sinfully delicious. The shredded beef tacos are wonderful! They're moist and flavorful and stuffed full of beef. The chips are hot and fresh. The salsa has lots of flavor and just a little heat. Special orders don't upset them. before entering the restaurant we called ahead to ask about the special for today. we asked if there was someone that spoke spanish and the lady on the phone said no and claimed she was by herself. when entering the restaurant, there was clearly more people working so i'm not sure if she was lying to us or if the employees have came in to work afterwards. entering the restaurant, we were kindly greeted and sat down. they gave us a basket of chips and salsa. the amount of chips they put in was a small amount, as well as the plate of salsa. at this time the restaurant is not busy. there is waitresses walking around and none of them asked if we wanted more chips and salsa until we had to ask them ourselves i ordered the asada burrito and the other person order the special or the day. food came 15 minutes later which is not a bad time. burrito was good and the special was good as well. the thing that we didn't enjoy was the rice and beans. rice was undercooked and beans did not have any taste. overall, this is a nice family restaurant. only things i would suggest is hiring more bilingual people and adding more portions to the chips and salsa. read more

Loved it, very different from most Mexican restaurants I've been to, but still delicious. We decided to give it a try while we were in town, they serve complimentary tortilla chips with homemade salsa!! Our food was served quickly, hot and fresh!!! Although, I wouldn't give the servers any stars, bunch of teenagers that were doing their things without paying attention to us, when we needed something! I asked one them to bring more water and she totally ignored it!!!!! Maybe one thing they can improve is to find better servers!!!!! read more

So Good! From the fantastic service (truly nice people and attentive) to the amazing food, this is a must stop from now on as we are passing through Bishop. We both had the Cancun Enchilada, I had the chicken and my hubby had the pork. Outstanding. Filled to the brim with shredded meat and the sauce was like nothing we've had before. They take the time to really serve a quality meal, not just slopped on your plate like most places. I drove four hours just to eat there; o.k. only because I was on my way to June Lake for the weekend, but.. if the craving was bad enough, I would! There are no words to describe how delicious the enchiladas are. After emptying my leftovers into a to-go container (I was fantasizing eating them later), the waitress wanted to clear the plate away. I yelled, "no, not yet! I'm not done!" She backed away slowly... and with my basket of chips, I lovingly scraped the last vestiges of my meal into my mouth. Though the space itself isn't at all fancy, modest tables and a brown carpeted restaurant area greets you, the food is phenomenal. First experience, their salsa. With fresh warm corn tortilla chips it's just the right amount of chunky, juicy and spicy. Food is moderately priced with HUGE portions. Their Acapulco style chicken is marinated in jalapeño and fruit juices bringing a diversity of flavor to the plate. Service is fast and friendly. Chips and salsa is in unlimited supply. Found a great place for dinner . The pork was super good and a lot of it in both the tacos and enchiladas. The service was also very good. A definite place to go. 6/12/19 had dinner here again it it was great. Had a great sever named Rosaura. She was very nice. I had the pork taco salad and it had a large amount of good pork in it.
