I was extremely excited to try Banan during my trip to SF and it definitely didn't disappoint! Nice option to have when you want a healthier alternative to your traditional ice cream. Service was great and although the shop has limited seating, there's plenty of space outside.
Got the banana brûlée cup, honestly did not realize they were healthy (no added sugar) and dairy free until after I started having it. I liked the brûléed banana, and macadamia combo. Not a fan of the coconut whipped cream. Got to try the cocoa bomb cup and I think that's probably better at this place.
Cute little spot for dessert! The banan strawberry lilikoi was so good and refreshing. The fruit tasted really fresh. Couldn't believe it was just banana.

Been wanting to try this place for a while, and located in a walkable area of Noe Valley. Their soft serve contains no added sugar or milk, just bananas! Ambiance: feels like your typical ice cream/froyo place. Place is clean and modern Service: workers were friendly, they offer free samples as well Banana (5/5): Tasted like an overripe banana in an ice cream, reminded me of fried bananas I had as a kid. Had texture just like fro-yo Chocolate $5 (5/5): Tasted like rich chocolate with a hint of banana. Not overly sweet and enjoyable. Kid's cup is $5, and each additional topping is ranging $.75/$1.25/$2/$3. Would come back again to enjoy a small cup at the town square across the street.
I knew Banán looked familiar. I remember seeing their order window on one of those Waikiki beach access walkways, the popular one near The Cheesecake Factory with all the surfboards are standing in a row. I didn't try it, but here I was in Noe Valley, a seemingly unlikely location for Hawaiian-style soft serve, don't you think? However, cold weather aside, I was swayed by their dairy-free offerings. I'm not lactose-intolerant, but it's good to step away from the cow sometimes. The friendly server explained Banan's concept of banana-based tropical flavors. That means their soft serve moves away from creamy and more toward a chilled smoothie. Truth be told, I didn't have the temerity much less the patience to build my own cup, so I ordered the preset $9.95 Strawberry Liliko'i Cup. My choice sounded like Honolulu to me because it consisted of strawberry banan topped with toasted coconut, strawberries, pineapple, and passionfruit (Photo 7). It was quite good, though to be honest, I lean toward creamy in my froyo proclivities. Listen, I'm not sure if there are caloric benefits to banan, but I could be seduced by toppings like macadamia nut honey butter. This non-lactose shop looks too sweet not to step inside. Banan's offerings range from smoothies, banana froyo to açaí and we ordered a large Waikiki Dreamin'. Though the bowl isn't as large as some other açaí places, the little scoop of macadamia nut honey butter made it stand out and the lilikoi (passion fruit) on top added a tart flavor explosion! Service was very friendly. If in Noe Valley, check out this place for a touch of Hawaii.
Had this once in Hawaii and wasnt overly impressed as it was very banan-y But seen it opened here on 24th st so decided to try it out as my sister was raving about it. And she wasnt wrong- its so good, more of a fro-yo vibe with the taste of banana not as overpowering, and plenty of yummy toppings to tickle the tastebuds. I got the coco bomb and wowwweeee it was good, I added strawberries for an extra fruity sweet kick and it was perfect. Also the smaller size is pretty big! Will definitely be back to try the other flavors. The cafe is so cute too- colorful and a few tables to sit and enjoy the dessert, also some pretty funky merch to check out instore. Worth a visit!
I cant believe I didn't try this place earlier. I was looking for a refreshing dessert with no added sugar (so basically a fruit alternative if that was even possible) and this was the exact spot! Their strawberry and passion fruit flavors make the perfect balance of slightly sweet and tart. The banana is there but not overpowering, tastes like a smoothie bowl. I'll be back to try all the other flavors, they even have a protein one!
This review is for their acai bowl only The palace itself is cute, seats around 15 inside with some squeeze. The time I came round had a lot of other children visiting for their ice cream fix For the acai bowl, I got a large and honestly was pretty disappointed with the first impression. The bowl filled basically half way before some fruit toppings. Now if you care about not fiddling and spilling toppings, having coconut flakes coat your lap and a rogue granola chunk fall to the floor while you wail internally, then sure maybe this is for you, but not me, I wanna feel so uncomfortable with digging into the top because of how much goodness I've just paid for. And for pushing $18 post tip? Unfortunately there are plenty of acai bowls elsewhere which do give more for your buck. The taste was still good! But soured by the above, and not amazing enough to warrant it
Came by for a sweet treat after dinner and we were excited to try Banan as we wanted something a bit lighter. After trying a couple of flavors we decided on the strawberry and chocolate banana soft serve. The ice cream here has no sugar or dairy added which is really impressive given how flavorful everything was. It was hard to choose 2 for the regular size cup as the passionfruit and matcha were great as well. They do use coconut cream in the soft serve to add creaminess but overall it tastes super natural. My favorite had to the be chocolate as it was super creamy and rich without being heavy or too sweet. The strawberry was icier, making me think they use frozen strawberries in the recipe but still good - more like a sorbet or frozen smoothie than ice cream.
This place is a great stop for a sweet treat! I originally came for the CHUNKADELIC BOWL which was a total win. I subbed in the shortbread cookies which I highly recommend. The macadamia nut butter is very unique to this desert spot! I will definitely get this again. The CHOCOLATE BOWL was also very rich and creamy. We went with peanut butter for this one, but next time I'd probably grab a different nut butter with it! This place is delicious and I will definitely be back when I'm in the neighborhood to try some of their more fruit flavors!
Plenty of seating and spacious inside! Loved the light and airy interior. - chunkadelic cup: the banana soft serve base was yummy! It had natural sweetness to it and a good consistency that didn't melt! The toppings paired well - the macadamia nut butter was not that flavorful though. Would come back for a refreshing sweet treat!
I was in the area and I was craving a sweet treat so here I am. I came in and I ordered the Chunkadelic cup which is apparently pretty popular here. The Chunkadelic cup was light and creamy. I like how the all of the components work so well together from the shaved coconut, the granola, dark chocolate, and the macadamia nut butter. The banana soft serve itself has no added sugar which is why it's not as sweet as you may expect. The service here was alright nothing out of the ordinary. The shop itself is kinda small but has a little bit of seating inside for people to enjoy. Try it out if you like. :) read more

I'm so happy that Banan has opened up a shop on the mainland!! After stopping by their Honolulu window a few times for their "nice-cream" (and trips to buy their mac nut butter,) it's quite nice to know they have a shop out in the Bay! If you haven't tried Banan, you're in for a [non-dairy] treat! It's smooth and creamy soft serve made with bananas instead of milk. Similarly to açai bowls, you pair these with toppings like granola, nut butter, chocolate nibs, fruit, etc. I ordered the Chunkaholic and swapped the regular base out for their matcha base. The flavor was a perfect balance of banana and green tea without being too sweet or bitter. I'm just waiting for this location to start selling their mac nut butter because it's so friggen good! Until then, I'll definitely be back to try their different bases and their smoothies! read more
Who would've thought that you could made an incredibly creamy soft serve just from bananas? Banan from Honolulu has capitalized on this idea with truly incredible results! The banana flavor was their OG vanilla equivalent, and the chocolate had a deliciously dark, semi-sweet cacao flavor. I got both of these topped with crunchy Nana Joes granola, a scoop of creamy peanut butter, and a scoop of chunky macadamia nut honey butter. The soft serve cup was assembled beautifully, and the nuttiness and crunchiness of the toppings balanced out the thick, creamy soft serve, which was flavorful without being too sweet (there's no added sugar)! Banán will forever have a special place in my heart. Living in Hawaiʻi for years, this was the go-to spot for a sweet and refreshing treat after college classes (rip their UH location). Hanging out with one of my best friends from Hawaiʻi, you best believe we had to come here together to check out their first location on the mainland! Wow, the interior of Banan truly caters to the California aesthetic and vibes of city folks. Unlike their locations on the island which are more laid back and lowkey, this spot is bright and colorful, bustling with people of all ages, with merch and tables inside. You can also take your dessert to go! We found service to be prompt as you order and pay and they call it out when they're done. Being dairy-free and a banana lover, this is the perfect spot. It's also ideal for anyone looking for something refreshing, fruity, and perfect for the summertime! I enjoyed the Strawberry Lilikoʻi in a Cup and my friend got the Chunkadelic in a Cup. I love strawberry and I love lilikoʻi so this was the perfect balance of sweet and tart. The fresh fruit was delicious and the coconuts added a nice texture. Definitely would get it again but I'm also sad they don't serve all the flavors as they do on the island. For those looking for an alternative to ice cream, frozen yogurt, shaved ice, you name it--Banán has entered the chat! It is a delicious concept of a dairy-free frozen treat made of bananas. One of my friends has been raving about Banan and I was so excited to try it! I love that they are a dairy free soft serve crafted from bananas and that everything was natural sugars. The staff were very helpful, letting my friend switch a topping she didn't want from a preset combo. Chunkadelic - They said it was one of the popular flavors and it was worth it. The banana banan was light and refreshing. It came with toppings like macadamia nut honey butter, dark chocolate, shaved coconut, honey and granola. My favorite was the nana joes granola which added crunch and was a tasteful mix. A great place to get desserts during this summer season and I would love to go back to try some of their other banan flavors and the new smoothies they have! read more

Wasn't planning to come here but there was a sign outside advertising their new maca smoothie, and it looked so beautiful so I had to try. It looks like the Erewhon coconut cloud smoothie but without the Erewhon price tag :0 It's around $14 for the smoothie post tax but it's pretty filling because it has protein powder! It was very banana and macadamia nut forward, and refreshingly sweet. I would definitely come back for their banana soft serve -- it looked so good! Apparently this place is a food truck based in Hawaii and this is their first location in California :) Service was friendly! A good amount of seating inside and drinks took around 10 min to come out - not too long of a wait. read more

I'm so glad Banan is now open here in the Bay! Their ingredients are so fresh and tasty. I loved their Chunkadelic which banana soft serve with macadamia nut honey butter and dark chocolate. Their butter is so unique and full of amazing flavor! I want a whole jug of this for the house! I personally think a cup is a good enough size for most people. It's filling and enjoyed slowly rather than eating it quick. I can't for them to start serving out of fruits soon even though u understand it can be time consuming and requires more man power. I can't wait to come back again! I'll need a bowl this time lol read more

Finally got to visit the new Banan location and it was delicious! They don't do any added sugar, so it really is just blended up bananas. The chocolate chunks aren't very sweet which I enjoyed, but thought the coconut whipped cream could be skipped. Unfortunately the price is a bit high. I paid around $11 for a cup with 2 toppings. The service was great though and there are clean tables inside to enjoy! read more

If you're craving a light and delicious dessert, I highly recommend Banan!!! Everything is banana-based which was so unique and I love that they let you try samples! The Banana Banan and the Chocolate Banan were both so yummy but I decided to go with Chunkadelic which is the Banana Banan. The toppings were the perfect addition and the consistency was on point!! We also tried the Mana smoothie and the vanilla protein was definitely overpowering but it was still good! Definitely coming back to try the acai bowl! read more
Thank you to my Yelp Friend Cherylynn N. for bringing this spot to my attention! Because I cannot believe Hawaii's Banan opens its first location outside of HI in SF!! I came immediately after seeing Cherylynn post about it. While they don't have the option to serve it in fresh fruit like they do in HI, the nice cream still hits the spot. And the macadamia nut butter is just as delicious as I remember it from HI! While you can't order it and sit out on Waikiki beach to enjoy it, there are indoor and outdoor seating available. It's located in Noe Valley so you could even take your nice cream on a walk. Servers were just as happy to serve me as I was to have them here in SF now!! You already know I'll be here more often than I should. It's a taste of Hawaii at home! read more

Love this place! So happy it's here. Ambiance is Aloha like, bright and cute My favorite is the chunkadelic because of the housemade macadamia nut honey butter! It's so yums The base is banana which makes it refreshing. We've also tried Strawberry Liliko'i and the chocolate brownie. I have been thinking about going on a round trip to Oahu with my family for the second time. Well, it's been almost 14 years, and my whole family still don't have travel plans for one of the five Hawaiian islands. While I have been thinking about going either for a helicopter ride above Oahu or a submarine to see the fishes underwater, my brother still has been yearning for more shaved ice, shrimp scampi, and Malasadas. Those are my distant dreams for now; til then, I still hold the spirit of aloha while visiting Noe Valley! Once I visit for the second time, I'll be more than glad to build my own bowl! That way, I get to choose which fresh fruits and grain shall be added with açaí as a base. Seeing how the female staff employee created a swirl reminds me of Matcha Café Maiko, but this was açaí I'd be looking at. This super fruit as a base will always be my must-have in order to help preserve the Amazon rainforest. Banan is one of the best small businesses that deserve more attention. read more
Wow just bananas in a perfectly frozen creamy form. My friend raved about this shop from Hawaii - I'm so glad it came to SF so I can try it here! As someone who's trying to not eat processed food, I even bought a yonanas machine to make banana soft serve at home. Still tho, maybe we can leave it to the pros because I can not get it as thick and creamy as Banan. And they have a good collection of flavors and yay for samples! I tried the banana, chocolate, and matcha banan. The banana was a bit too sweet and matcha was too fruity where it masked the matcha (matcha could be stronger). But the chocolate tho - it was so dark, rich, and not that sweet. I got with b.patisserie brownies which were so rich and fudgey with intense chocolate flavor. Next time, I definitely want to try the macadamia nut butter. Cute place in noe valley! You can sit inside, or across banan there's a cute family friendly park with tables and all. read more
Fun different concept with a banana soft serve! Super yummy and a healthy after meal dessert. The strawberry lilikoi was nice and tart with a passion fruit drizzle, coconut flakes and strawberries! Definitely was on the more sour side but in a good way. The chunkadelic had a delicious macadamia nut butter on there that was so different but in such a good way? Super cute and trendy ambiance, very fun vibe for a quick catch up with friends or an anytime healthy but indulgent treat! I'm so happy that this opened up in Nor Valley - I tried their regular, chocolate, and matcha flavors and liked all of them! Obviously this is nooooot a replacement to ice cream if that's what you're craving, but it's a really good dessert replacement if you're looking to be healthy while indulging in sweets. I thought their flavors and combos are inventive - for instance the coconut cream that came with the brownie chocolate version was nice and airy and complimented the "sundae" well. I would try the matcha next time and add some fun toppings to it, maybe some strawberries and coconut. Really nice texture and nice staff as well! read more
I feel I can keep coming back without feeling guilty since I'm a softie when it comes to ice cream. Nice cream has been around for a while, and I'm glad it's finally getting some recognition. I love that it has no dairy and no added sugar. The base is creamy and refreshing with a natural banana taste. Every spoonful makes my taste buds happy. The lady behind the counter was kind enough to let me sample a few flavors before having me decide what I wanted. It's a nice dessert indulgence, and you won't feel guilty at all. I didn't know this is from Hawaii, but I'm glad I can have it here without having to travel. The place itself was welcoming and clean too. I got the açaí/banana combo and these flavours complemented well together. The amount of toppings was generous too. Really excited to have a non-dairy dessert spot in Noe. The staff is really friendly and they let you try out the different flavors before picking one. If you don't want something super decadent/loaded with toppings, then you can just get a kids scoop and customize as you like it, and get a bigger one later once you're more sure of your favorite combo. We got the passionfruit with mochi and coconut shavings as toppings. The flavor profile was great although the shavings didn't taste of anything. We actually came in looking for matcha but when we did the taste test, it mostly just tasted like banana so we skipped it in favor of passionfruit. We'll be back to try more flavors soon! read more
What I ordered: -Chunkadelic [3.8/5] -- I was so excited to find out Banan was coming to San Francisco. I had plans to try it in Hawaii, but our trip got canceled due to COVID, so I never had the chance. I ended up ordering the Chunkadelic, which seemed to be the most popular item on the menu. It's similar to acai but banana-flavored! I loved the toppings that came with the bowl. The workers were friendly and offered us samples since I couldn't decide what to order. There are a few tables inside, but not too many. I highly recommend trying this place! read more
I was expecting the banana soft serve to be sweet, but it's actually pretty sour due to the natural banana puree not being overly ripe. There's no added sugar or dairy either, so it tastes like STRAIGHT UP frozen banana. Very healthy, but if you have a sweet tooth, it definitely isn't as sweet as expected. I got the Chunkadelic, which was yummy. I can imagine this being a tasty and "feel good" breakfast. read more

Loved their location in Hawaii and were super excited to hear they opened a location here! The interior is clean and modern and had ample seating to enjoy your sweet treat. The cashier was friendly and helpful, you can also try out their flavors! We got a chocolate and banana and a strawberry banana! We got the kids cup size and it was perfect for a quick treat. The chocolate was decadent and the strawberry was tart, it wasn't overly sweet which I enjoyed. I'd definitely recommend adding their macadamian nut butter, it adds great texture and sweetness. read more
A THOUSAND TIMES YES. BANAN I LOVE YOU!!! I love anything banana, and when I heard there was a banana soft serve place (my two favorite things) I HAD to try. My friend and I shared the strawberry matcha which was really yummy. However, my absolute favorite was the original. I only had a sample of it, but it was so creamy and tasted like real banana. Next time, I would get the original. The strawberry matcha was pretty good too. It was just a little icier. The lady working was nice and let us try the flavors. There was no one else there, so it was super quick. Inside, it's very spacious with lots of seating. They sell their own merchandise as well. For parking, there's only street parking, but it's sf so what else would it be. read more
I love this place. Delicious frozen treats that are dairy and sugar free and still taste phenomenal? Sign me up. I highly recommend the Strawbery Liliko'i if you'd like to keep it truly added sugar free. I get mine with extra passion fruit and it's 10/10. This is my new favorite dessert place in the Bay Area. I tried this spot in Oahu, Hawaii and loved it so I was so excited when I found out that it opened in SF. It's like an acai bowl combined with ice cream as the bases are made from bananas and they have a wide array of toppings. Chocolate brownie - my favorite! Dark chocolate and so decadent. It paired perfectly with the brownie pieces & coconut whip + shavings. Chunkadelic - we got a kids size so the toppings were macadamia butter, honey, & dark chocolate. this was also so refreshing and had a great banana flavor! paired great with the dark chocolate The service was fast and all the workers were so kind!! Tried the location in Waikiki and absolutely loved it. Super excited when we heard there was a location opening up in the city. Of course we had to try it when they opened! We got the Chunkadelic and it tastes identical to their location in Waikiki. The macadamia nut butter is always a huge hit and our favorite part of the treat. Shaved coconuts are very good. The staff is very friendly and the location is very clean. Highly recommend. Looking forward to revisiting many times, especially as it heats up over the summer! read more
I've been wanting to try Banan for so long because I love a good ice cream alternative, especially being a lactose intolerant girl! So glad I finally got to check it out :) I got the strawberry lilikoi in a cup. There are a few tables and some window seating inside so I got to enjoy it in the warmth of the shop. The ice cream itself had a very subtle strawberry flavor and definitely tasted a lot healthier than normal ice cream, as it was way less sweet. I couldn't really taste the banana flavor much surprisingly. The passionfruit drizzle on top was too sour though, it overpowered the ice cream and made it hard to finish. I did like the texture and aesthetic of the ice cream, it had the consistency and look of froyo. I think next time I'd try another flavor and see if I like it better, this one was just way too sour for me. Love the concept though!! read more

It's another hot day in San Francisco and there are plenty of places I can think of that I can get a refreshing dessert. Another Autumn stroll this time through Noe Valley and there is a place I haven't tried but it was located across the street from the Noe Valley Town Square ( sounds like someone I know) and two doors away from Martha's Coffee new location . Banan started at Diamond Head in Hawaii and is now offering plant based dessert treats in San Francisco. Banan mission is to serve righteous food. I stepped inside and there were lots to choose from with their different combinations and offering menu which included spreads and toppings . I wanted to try a few things on their menu. Banan is a soft serve froyo . I was still in my tropical spirit so I ordered the do it yourself Lilikoi ( passion fruit) Banan and added a glaze of honey and it was not too sweet because it had a natural sweet taste. Came here after dinner and such a refreshing treat! I got paradise passion and my bf got chunkadelic but they were out of banana base so he replaced with matcha. I was expecting like açaí soft serve consistency based on the images but on my first bite, I was surprised by the heavy banana base (lol I didn't understand the name at first) it is a bit thicker consistency but the fruit helps balance. Tasty soft-serve with generous samples and a nice ordering experience. A bit pricey. I am happy that there is a healthier dessert on 24th now though. The passionfruit flavor, Liliko'i stood out to me as the most unique option with a subtle berry aftertaste. Went well with the drizzle and other fresh fruit in the bowl. I was super curious to try this spot after hearing their ice cream is 100% plant based and made entirely from bananas. As I walked in, I loved the bright colors and the way the space was decorated. It's a cozy spot with limited seating, but we managed to grab a table pretty quickly. I ordered their "Chocolate Brownie Cup" and added macadamia nut honey butter. The butter was delicious, and nothing like I've had before. It also paired really well with the other toppings. Although, I found the Chocolate Banán a bit too rich for my taste. Chic spot that offers a non-dairy frozen dessert. It is a nice concept and dairy friendly take on ice cream. The employee is nice and greeted my family and I, she made the desserts really quick. For me it's not really my cup of tea. Some of the flavors were way overpowered by the banana taste and yes I am aware that it is a banana based frozen dessert. The store is clean and well kept. Maybe we didn't order the right things I lowkey really wanted to like this dessert but at its price point I can't. read more
