The pros: This place had delicious banh mi, packed full of veggies. It was also a good size, especially for the price. Service was quick and to the point. It seemed clean and bright and parking was easy. The cons: Overall customer service is lacking. I personally am not a fan of self-service ordering as is used here. Nearly every time I go somewhere that uses a touch screen ordering system, I have an issue with it. Here as well, I had to ask for help/clarification twice with my order. I feel like a big part of eating out is the convenience, and I don't want to spend a bunch of time problem-solving and scrolling through an electronic system, I just want to talk to a human and get my order done quickly and correctly as well as be able to ask questions about the menu. Also, if you want to eat in, you get to listen to the loud automated announcement of other people's orders as they become ready. They also do not have restrooms, which I don't understand in a place designed for dining in. Finally, I wanted to order boba milk tea, but they told me they could not adjust the sweetness even though it had showed that option on the menu I'd seen in Yelp photos (thus, I did not order any and so can't comment on the quality). I might still come back here for a quick banh mi to go in the future if in the area, but it wouldn't be my go-to for a nice sit-down meal or for boba. read more

I have eaten at the San Rafael restaurant many a times so I decided to try the Mill Valley Restaurant. Unfortunately it is not as good as the San Rafael restaurant. The meat was dry and it did not compare at all to the San Rafael restaurant which is exceptional. The service was nice but the proteins were cooked way too tough. I got the pork vermicelli and the pork looked and tasted like pork jerky. I had to ask for tofu as a substitute it was so inedible. My daughter left all the beef from her pho because she said it was too tough. I have no idea why the reviews for this place are so glowing. There's also no restroom. Been here many times and it is our go-to banh mi spot outside of San Jose. Great quality, great bread. When I ask for extra pate, I actually get extra pate. The banh mi prices are still reasonable, i order at store rather than on apps which cost more. They have a patio seating area and plenty of parking in their lot. Poor service, terrible attitude. I ordered intending to pick up in San Rafael. Arrived there, and they said the order was in Mill Valley. I asked if we could transfer to San Rafael, spoke to the Mill Valley location and they said that was not possible as the order was already made. 10-15 minutes later, en route to Mill Valley I received a text saying the order was ready. I arrived and they HAD NOT EVEN STARTED THE ORDER. I then got attitude from the person who worked there saying they had called me and I said to cancel. I showed her my phone with their text but no phone call from them and she said she was "sorry I couldn't read the right instructions on where to order". It wasn't my first visit to Banh Mi, but it was definitely my last. The owner has alleged that I threw the cell phone in San Rafael. This is absurd. I spoke with Mill Valley, and HANDED the phone back to the staff person in San Rafael. It was never even dropped. Furthermore, I was at the Mill Valley location within 10 minutes of their text saying the food was ready. The staff person said that I canceled the order so they "gave" the food away. Bad service followed by lies. Not a good way to run a business. read more

We ordered a bowl of pho, shrimp spring rolls, traditional bahn mi, and the pork bbq bahn mi. Everything was absolutely delicious. The pho had a rich, clovey, spicy broth that was so delicious. The shrimp spring rolls were full of shrimp. The bread on the bahn mi was perfect! Crunchy without cutting the roof of your mouth. The sandwich was stuffed with fillings! This new gem is located where the old Mill Valley Subway used to be (good riddance footlongs!) parking is limited and hard to maneuver unless you're familiar with the intricacies of Tam Junction. Banh Mi Zon let's you order ahead on their website, which is what we did. The interior is cozy and provides enough seating for those wanting to grab a quick bite. We ordered two Beef Pho, Spring Rolls and a Vietnamese Fresh Lime soda. The pho broth was delicious but a bit sweeter than what I'm used to (my favorite pho place is My Fathers Kitchen on Divis) the beef was flavorful but had too much fat, and it was hard to cut into smaller pieces so I had a mouth full of stringy meat which almost made me choke at some point. The spring rolls are a good size and are made fresh. The star of the day was the fresh lime soda. Don't ge the wrong, the food we ordered was delicious, but if you ever wonder what could definitely quench your thirst and has the right amount of sweet and fizz, order this drink. All in all, I am stoked we finally have a Vietnamese restaurant in the heart of Mill Valley! read more

I love Banh Mi Zon! Zon, although phonetically spelled, means crunchy in Vietnamese. Their baguette is crunchy without tearing the roof of your mouth, which is the hallmark of any banh mi lol. I order the traditional banh mi, minus the dried pork. It always hits the spot when I'm craving a banh mi. I'm so happy I don't have to drive to SR anymore. read more

The place is clean w/good vibes. Ordering via tablet was easy once we got the hang of it. My beef bolgogi Banh mi was absolute perfection. I also had an ube milk tea with boba which tasted really good but the boba was on the firm side. My husband had the tofu vermicelli bowl but he says the vermicelli was pretty bland and wonders if they missed a step. He had the calamansi drink which was good. Very excited about this nice new addition to Tam Junction! It was busy during their opening week but online ordering was easy for takeouts! We had shrimp spring rolls, crazy mushrooms and chicken vermicelli. They were all delicious. I am glad I don't have to make trip to SF for authentic Vietnamese food often anymore. read more

I previously gave this restaurant three stars because It doesn't matter how good the food is, when you close at 7 pm only young children and their great-grandparents eat that early. Was very psyched to try this place and ordered the standard Banh Mi. Flavor was good but the meat inside (pork) was chewy and disgusting. When I took it out of the sandwich and looked at it it looked like badly processed lunchmeat. Disgusting. I will give them another chance but they really need to replace this meat with fresh meat or something that is not so questionable. Definitely avoid the pork. read more

My husband surprised me today with a Taro Boba Tea (non-dairy). It was delicious and disappeared in no time or I would post a picture. I think this will be my new favorite. We love having Banh MI in the neighborhood. We can walk there or it is a quick stop if we are driving home. Note - It looks like it would be hard to park but we have never had any trouble. I would like to start off by saying I've finally had my ratatouille moments. This is thee best pho place I've had to date, hands down. The broth is simmered for 10 hours with their secret recipe with the freshest seasoning from Vietnam. I didn't even add Sriracha or hoisin sauce in it. I was afraid to mess up the flavor of the broth so I ate it without any and it was amazing! The banh mi sandwiches were absolutely amazing!! I got the Spicy pork belly and OMG, I fell from the heavens. The bread is made by them in the back and let me tell you the bread is crispy and soft, beautiful! The bread is not thick or one of those gum shredding bread. It's thin and compliments the sandwich so well. You get a taste of everything. I also had the Gulgogi banh mi and oh my lawd, same! Banh mi zon sandwiches comes in neck and neck with another one of my favorite banh mi sandwiches and that place is in Pacifica Ca.
