I was in the area and came across Bixby Joe while driving around in the morning. I was looking for a cafe that would offer something for breakfast and was happy to find they offered a wide variety of things on their menu. I got a spinach and cheese bagel and had it with cream cheese, avocado, sprouts, cucumber, and tomato. It was divine! I think next time I will ask them to add bacon to give a little saltiness and crunch to the sandwich. The cafe was busy but not too busy. People who work here were friendly and pushing out orders in a timely fashion. I sat at the counter and watched my order being prepared. Really cute spot to hang out. Easy parking. This is a small business and decided to give it a try. It's a small coffee shop and I remember i'It's a Grind' use to be here. Nothing flashy just simple coffee shop. Came here today and it's a great spot. Feels like a very local, neighborhood coffee shop. The crowd ranges from old people in the corner reading newspapers to groups of people sitting and chatting, and people on their laptops doing a bit of work/study. I ordered a cold brew here. It tastes like Starbucks cold brew, but you get more for a cheaper price. I also ordered a sausage, egg, and cheese croissant. Something was off about that sausage. Though it didn't taste spoiled, it had a sour-ish taste to it. The rest of the croissant was good though. They have an extensive menu of teas and smoothies as well. The workers were nice as well. Lots of competition in the area but Bixby Joes still stands out in their own way. They have really good food. Wide variety of croissant sandwiches and bagels. My go to is the lox bagel. Fresh every time. No weird pieces in the salmon. Big enough to share as well. My second favorite is the classic ham and cheese croissant. Can't go wrong with that. Another plus if this cafe is the day trip water. It's around 5 bucks I remember correctly and it's infused with cbd. I'm not entirely sure if I ever feel anything with it but the placebo affect is real. In San Diego day trip waters sell for 8-15 bucks. Yikes. read more

Arrived Sunday morning around 9am and needed some coffee and food before my drive back down to San Diego. I ordered the ice caramel latte to drink and it was pretty good and not too sweet. I got the sausage, egg, and cheese croissant and I like that the egg white is a little fluffy. The portion of the croissant was pretty big and I was full from eating half the croissant. They weren't stingy with the sausage either. Looks like they have a lot of good food choices to pick from. They also have smoothies. Staff were friendly and attentive. Didn't have to wait long for my order. This would be a nice place to study or get some work done on my laptop. It wasn't too loud in there. I ordered an ice green tea chai and two food items, ham egg cheese croissant and avocado bacon toast. The person who took my order never heard of the ice green tea chai before and I pointed it at the menu lol he went to the back and asked if the others knew what that was and i heard him say idk it's on our menu though. He came back and said i mean we can do a matcha chai. I said sure idk what it is thought it was just interesting. I waited about 10-15 mins. Saw a green drink and food container on the counter and asked what it was (i was going back and front from outside because i had a dog with me). She grabbed the food and said it's someone else's not yours never told me what it was though. Then asked what the drink was and she said uhh matcha chai tea. I took the drink and waited another 30 minutes. They were serving everyone that was after me. The workers were laughing and making food for themselves i think cuz they were heating stuff up but no one else was waiting for anything. The person who took my order clocked off and said bye to me standing waiting for my food. After waiting longer, they asked if i was waiting for something and said oh someone must have taken your stuff. Highly doubt it. I don't even think they ever started making it. lol i shouldn't have tipped them 25% before the service. such a shame, it was such a cute little cafe spot and the workers seemed young and cool but honestly the service was ass. They finally made my food and shouted u want a bag and i said no it's fine and the workers gave each other a look and started laughing. this service lowkey ruined my day lol i feel like i heard the girls entire convo about her wanting to become a lawyer and take the LSAT like girl stop talking and make my food she even mopped the floors BEFORE i got my entire order crazy clocking out is more important lol read more

This is a great coffee shop with lots of outlets, space, parking, and even outdoor space. It's pretty close to the Long Beach Airport, which is convenient if you're trying to pick someone up nearby. Food-wise, their croissant ham/egg/cheese sandwiches are incredible! It may seem pricey at $10+, but you really get two portions for it, unless you're super hungry. The drinks are also solid; whether you're looking for coffee, tea, lemonade/ginger, they have some fantastic options. The "service" was poor, as the youngster who took my order had a hard time focusing on what I said since he was having an ongoing conversation with someone in the back kitchen/barista area. I had to repeat myself a few times, articulating very clearly. Still didn't work since my latte was not decaf. I come here often and usually order a drink and something to eat. The quality of the coffee is great for me and they have a really good selection of food. I love their gluten free banana cakes that they place near the registers and their cookies, especially. Unfortunately, some of the people that work there aren't very friendly. 5 stars for the bacon avocado toast that Was simply amazing! We got this last week and it was incredible. My husband also got an asiago spinach bagel and a hazelnut coffee. The bagel was very delicious aswell but the coffee was not. It did not have any sweetener and it did not even taste like hazelnut. I like this spot. You can get coffee, breakfast, pastries, canned drinks, wifi, and it's spacious enough to bring a laptop and work since they have tables plus outdoor seating. I love their avocado toast. It's pretty much a salad on bread consisting of sprouts, tomato, spinach, and a hard boiled egg. Beware, the golden latte, known to get its color from turmeric, includes grated ginger (I can handle the ginger flavor but can't take down the grated stuff). I noticed they stay open late for First Friday. Not sure if that's dependent on if there's a live band that's playing in front of the shop. It would make a nice stop for a warm bev while walking down Atlantic or sitting on the top in the red trolley during the monthly event. read more

We arrived and food was ready! but unfortunately they had our order wrong, they gave us two croissants and one bagel. they offered to remake and we waited about 10 minutes for the new ones, upon opening the bagels we notice they got them wrong again, they gave us one cheesy bagel and jalapeño bagel (which was cold) and we had asked for no cheese cream and they also added that.. we continued to eat them because we're in a hurry and it's a mistake that happens overall it was really good both bagels and croissant. of course service was great! and cute inside! plenty of seating and parking! and great prices! read more

The foods are freshly made and delicious. One thing that some of the staffs and one of the managers need to be trained on is to know the difference between their Nutella Croissant and the Chocolate Croissant. This place has been slowly starting to go downhill almost every time I visit and this inconsistency will only make this place go downhill even faster. Recently, I ordered a Nutella Croissant, but they gave me the Chocolate one. When I gave back the chocolate and asked for the nutella, both one of the managers and one of the staffs insisted that both croissants were the same. Even after I told them that nutella and chocolate taste different from one another and that both of those croissants looked different from one another (one looked plain and one had the stripes), both the manager and the staff continued insisting that they were correct when they clearly were not. Also, each of those two croissants had a sticker, which clearly stated the flavor, on its plastic wrap, so how could you, the staffs, have missed that? On top of that, I know how nutella and chocolate taste like. Even though both flavors contain cocoa, they're similar to each other, not the same. read more

This wonderfully cozy shop is serving up early 2000s vibes. With a wide assortment of pastries and chilled and hot items to choose from, it's a great place to grab a quick bite or hang out for a while. They have tons of outlets in the event you bring a device that needs charging and a good amount of indoor seating with a few small tables outside. Staff always greets you with a smile. Their BEC bagel is pretty solid for a coffee shop bagel (super crispy bacon yum yum yum) as is their selection of teas and coffees. My only disappointment is they've erased all of their prices from the main drink board. Food item prices are still visible on their printed menus, but it would be nice to know the overall cost of what you're purchasing before you pay for it. I understand their reasoning for it, but do hope they'll add them again in the future. read more

Love their selection of teas they have here . I always get the jalapeño bagel with cream cheese & veggies , with a sweet treat (cinnamon roll or coffee cake).I try to stray away from coffee so I go for a tea latte & love that they always get my request on point (not to sweet , splash of milk) . I do have to say is that they get busy ! If you want to be in n out quick or are in a rush I most likely would not go here . They either have a really long line or may be short staffed , however I find the service to always be delightful. Honestly, l've tried giving this place multiple chances, but it just keeps letting me down. The customer service is seriously lacking, the staff usually seem annoyed or uninterested, like they're doing you a favor by even acknowledging you're there. The employees see you in line, and guess what they do? They just ignore you. Last time I waited in line for 15 minutes. On top of that, nothing ever works. The ovens and microwaves are constantly broken, which means half the food on the menu is off-limits most of the time. If you're hoping for something warm or fresh, good luck. I wanted a bagel last time, but they couldn't even warm it up for me! It's honestly so crazy and very unprofessional. They lie about their stuff being broken, just because they are lazy people that don't even want to do their job correctly. It's also just not a pleasant atmosphere overall. It always feels like the employees are just staring or talking about you. It really feels like management just doesn't care and it shows.
