My first review on yelp. Came to this is a decent dim sum spot in downtown Fremont. The food was good and the prices were reasonable. The BBQ pork bun was soft with plenty of tasty filling. Siu mai had a good size and nice flavor. My friend enjoyed the chicken feet and said they were delicious. The rice noodle roll with crispy donut was tasty, though the noodle was a bit thicker than I prefer. The donut was crispy, but I wish there was more sauce and better dipping options. The crispy durian puff was just okay, great texture, but the durian flavor was too mild. Overall, a solid place to grab dim sum. read more

BK's bistro is a great hidden gem in Fremont. They've got a lot of classics freshly made. There's not a lot of photos on the menu and the English side reads like it was translated straight from Google. We couldn't find XLB (soup dumplings) on the menu so we asked our server and she marked it for us. Attentive and competent service. More of a 2.5 out of 5 stars than a full 3 stars. I think one thing you can always expect when getting dim sum is bad service and dirty tableware. We've been to BK several times because it's so convenient but the food isn't all that great or consistent. However, the other dim sum restaurants are quite far from us and a much longer wait. But the prices here are not terrible, so I guess we basically pay for the quality. Steamed Shrimp Dumpling/Har Gaw (3.5/5 stars) - this is a nostalgic dish that we always get even though it's not that great here. The paper is very thick and breaks easily. Hot & Sour Wonton Soup (3.5/5 stars) - I think it just depends on what day you go on and who makes it. There's no consistency here. But when there's a good amount of ginger this soup is pretty good! Lotus Leaf Sticky Rice (4/5 stars) - surprisingly this is always good! I will always recommend this. The ratio of meat to rice could be improved but it's still good. Century Egg Cilantro Soup (4/5 stars) - such a good balance of herbs and umami. There's also fish filets in here. Also a good soup to have when you're feeling sick. Shrimp Rice Noodle Roll (3/5 stars) - the rice paper is pretty thick but other than that the dish itself is pretty standard. Chinese Broccoli w/ Oyster Sauce (2/5 stars) - the veggies here are never great but I always make the mistake of getting some type of green anyways. The veggies they serve are poor quality but when you need a green this is the best option here. All other dishes we've tried are pretty standard across all dim sum restaurants. My family and I have been coming to this restaurant for YEARS for good quality, authentic dim sum. Their food is consistently good and has a HUGE variety of savory and sweet dim sum dishes. Not to mention, their prices are very reasonable and food comes out hot and quickly. Controversial food but I loveeee durian and BK has the best durian puffs. My family and I used to come here often before the pandemic since we like the dim sum here. We've only been back recently for take out and the dim sum here is still delicious! The pricing is also similar to other dim sum restaurants in the area. We ordered online at around 11am on a Friday, but the email confirmation didn't tell us how long it would take, so we called them and they said about 30 minutes. We didn't have to wait at all when we got there on time! We ordered about 12 dishes that totaled about $72 with tax, no tip yet. The food was delicious! I think they hired a new chef, the food tasted way better than when it was first opened. Small gem like a hole in the wall kinda place hidden in residential and business space. It was packed on weekends and the servers kept the tables moving fast. We got there right at noon, must have 10 parties before us, and we were seated in less than half an hour. Wow the dim sum here was really tasty! My favorites were the lotus wrapped sticky rice, shrimp rice noodles, and fried shrimp balls. The only one I didn't like was the Shanghai style dumplings. We ate it on a bench outside the restaurant, so only a few mins after picking up our takeout. The dough was really sticking to our teeth and the inside was bland. I was not a fan of the sauce, which tasted like a vinigrette. It was a little pricy for dimsum, but not as expensive as the Sifu Dim Dum in Sunnyvale (this place is pretty good too!) The lotus wrap at BK was way tastier than Sifu. We were told it would be a 25 min wait. We came back after 20 and it was ready. Spot is in a nice business park, with plenty of parking spots. The patio area had limited seating. When we went on a Saturday around noon, it was filled up. There are also 2 park benches outside the restaurant, and we were able to snag one for ourselves. This place honestly helped me survive my dim sum cravings during shelter in place haha although it's a little far, it's always worth the drive! To place an order, you have to click on their website located in the business's main Yelp page. It's not very user friendly, definitely needs some fixing haha you can't remove items from your cart once you add it, you have to start from scratch. On a positive note, there are some pictures which is super helpful! Once you place the order, it doesn't tell you how long it would take but based on experience, it's typically ready around 30 minutes. They'll only ask for the last 4 numbers of your phone number and then you'll need to pay. One of my favorite last-minute local dimsum spots. The atmosphere isn't anything noteworthy: it's clean, not opulent. In my experience, the staff here have always been efficient and fast at whipping out the food. That being said, the best part of this place is their food. At each dimsum restaurant I visit, har gow is my one must-have, and BK's doesn't disappoint. Their friend bean curd with shrimp is also high on my list. My favorite dishes were the HK style pan fried noodles which were crispy and had a strong garlic flavor, the baked BBQ pork buns which were buttery, soft, and crispy all at the same time, and the vegetable and pork bun which had the meat of a xiaolongbao but the exterior of a soft bun. Our BBQ Pork Cheung Fun had a hair on it when it came out, but when we let the server know, they took it back immediately and said they would make us a new one. My bf and I came here on a Sunday morning around 11AM for the first time. We had recently moved to Fremont and wanted to have a feel for the restaurants in the area. The interior is designed to be like a smaller family diner. It's not perfectly clean, but it's clean enough where we eat. We ordered 7 items with each priced between 5 to 7 dollars. The XLB is extremely soupy and came out piping hot with some red vinegar. Flavor wise the soup is a little lighter but still delicious. They're also pretty big. The chicken feet flavor is also light but still delicious and texture and overall flavor. The pork buns were also fried to be crispy at the top and bottom. Which is great. Pairs extremely well with the chili sauce. The other dishes are pretty classic but slightly enlarged portions of the usual dimsum items. Like the shrimp dumplings had 2 decently sized shrimp instead of 1. Their house made chili sauce is also bomb and comes on every table along with soy sauce and white pepper. I'm a big spicy chili fan and this have massive flavor and decent spice level. It's a wonderful treat to have this on the table for easy access. The only slight struggle is that the people are very busy and it's sometimes very hard to flag someone down for something. But otherwise this place is really good. read more

The pork buns here were AMAZING. Out of all the pork buns we've tried, these were definitely the best. 5/5, 10/10, you name it. I went with the beef lo-mein & i gotta admit that it wasn't all that great. I'm already not a big fan of the stringy noodles, i like the thicker noodles for sure like chow-mein. So to each their own, others might like it but it didn't hit the spot for me. But i'm not goin to let that affect my review because BK's is actually a great place. When i called to place my order, the lady that answered the phone was so sweet & helpful, & even when i went to pick up she service was great. It's kind of in a weird spot, right smack dab in the middle of some offices so you might get lost inside the complex. But even the inside was cozy & feels like you're in an old fashioned spot. My favorite dim sum in Fremont, idc. The dim sum is made to order and they don't push around the beloved silver carts. Our favorites to order are the steamed or baked char siu buns, beef black bean chow fun noodles, steamed rice noodle rolls with fried bread, spare ribs (not the noodle roll one bc then they won't give you a lot of meat), shu mai, har gow, rice porridge with fish and cilantro, sugar egg puff, and salty egg custard bun. All so good! The service is good, sometimes during dine in it can be hard to flag down the servers but during covid it's been better. Sometimes they won't answer the phone but lol it happens. We order from here almost every two weeks. The prices are good, especially for food that's made to order. Definitely worth swinging by if you're in Fremont and craving dim sum! read more

As a Hong Kongese, I can say this is a pretty good dim sum place, price is very affordable too! We ordered a lot of traditional dim sum and none of them disappointed me. We had to repeatedly get up and ask for someone to come and help us. We were seated near the kitchen which was really loud and to make things worse the staff was yelling at one another. Prices are decent for the portions and they were open so that's always good. Out of our order the chicken feet was surprisingly the tastiest and deserves an honorable mention. I have been ordering from BK the last year whenever we are in the mood for dim sum. We have eaten there as well as order to go. Everything we have been ordering is on par with the exception of their egg tarts. They are small and do not taste like egg tart. They smell more cheesy or just went bad. Not sure. Other than that the staff is friendly. Given how busy they get around lunch time they are phenomenal. I will continue to support their business but no more small egg tarts for me. read more

My boss fancies this place. It is either dim sum or pho for lunch when she sees us in the office. She loves the fried stuff - fried mango shrimp, fried sesame balls, fried wontons, fried this and that. I gave this bistro high marks because their dim sum is pretty good as are the basic noodle dishes: soy sauce chow fun/chow mein, chicken feet, juicy har gau & flavorful fried rice. This is our neighborhood dim sum place for a quick bite. I'd recommend it but the service is not good. I'd not go 30-45 mins before they close as they may not serve you. The food is generally good but on the salty side. A few my favorite dishes there and regular dim sum are pretty tasty. Prices are ok. We ordered to go on a Saturday (Covid times) at 11 and they said that our order would be ready in about 30-40 minutes Siu mai (5/5) - shrimp and pork ratio is on point and very generous Fish filet porridge (5/5) - very flavorful even though I'm not a fan of fish. Their porridge is just as rich and creamy as gum kuo in Oakland/Dublin Soy sauce chow mein (5/5) - this is bomb! Not too oily and perfect ratio of noodles and veggies Spare ribs (5/5) - perfectly cooked and delicious. I love eating this with chili oil Baked pork buns (5/5) - this is a must get!! It's like having a pineapple bun with bbq pork in it. I would definitely recommend eating at the restaurant where the dim sum has just been cooked! We went yesterday at 11 am and were able to grab a table outdoors. I actually have been here a couple of times before with friends and family and it's one of my favorite dim sum spots since you're able to get dim sum all day. Like with all dim sum places you should visit here in a group in order to try a little bit of everything. My favorite is the pan fried turnip cakes, sticky rice, and the fresh mango mochi. Don't forget to try the desserts and to buy buns to take home to eat later.
